The Great Change
by Scott Price

"As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are become together unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one." Romans 3:10-12

These four "nones" that describe Man's total depravity are changed to the positive at the new birth since he changed from the state of condemnation to the blessed state of justification, all to the credit of the glorious person and work of Christ.

    1) None righteous? God has given us a righteousness by imputation that was merited by none other than Jesus Christ the righteous. He is our righteousness. Sin cannot be charged where righteousness is imputed!

    2) None that seeketh after God? Through regeneration and God's irresistible grace we are given faith to seek Him. This same faith that is a means in our conversion is the same faith we live by and continue to seek Him with for the rest of our lives.

    3) None that understandeth? Through a revelation from God He gives us an understanding that we might know Him. We then understand what is acceptable to God and we repent of that which is not, primarily our own self righteousness. We understand God's standard of holiness and righteousness. We understand all these things as they are revealed in reference to the cross of Christ.

    4) None that doeth good? Since we have been given grace to repent from dead works, we now do good and acceptable works through faith which glorify and honor God. God has ordained that we walk in these good works since it is Him that works in us to do them. These works done in us are the result and effect of the work on the cross for us.
