I just read an article on just war at: http://www.monksofadoration.org/justwar.html
I was curious what other peopleís view of just war is.

Iíd specifically like to know what peopleís view of the...

    Re: Prayer or Babble

In one line, the prayer is a request that the Father's will be done on earth.

The implication is that it is not done as of yet.
    At least not 100%.

Re: The Pelagian captivity of the church

Joe, The only thing I have to disagree here is when you say you have a peanut brain. This is very insightful.

I agree with your analogy 100%.

    Thanks and God bless you.

Re: The Pelagian captivity of the church

But I was just told by Tobias Crisp that I should repent and submit.
This goes against your above statement.

If I have no freedom to choose to repent, turn to Christ's redemptive glory and to...

Re: The Pelagian captivity of the church

This statement of yours implies that I have the freedom to repent, turn to Christ's redemptive glory and to submit.

This is what is meant by the 1% that semi-pelagian is referencing.

    Perhaps we...

    Re: Justification by faith alone

    Matt 7 vs 13
Enter through the narrow gate. The gate that leads to damnation is wide, the road is clear, and many choose to travel it.

If we had no choice, this passage would be meaningless.

If what you say is true, then I guess I'm just vessel that the potter wanted me to be.

Re: The Pelagian captivity of the church

If it's all predetermined, then I guess there's no value in praying for the conversion of a lost sole. Is there?

    Re: Justification by faith alone

If I'm truly blinded to the truth because I have no free will, you can't blame me for my blindness.

You still haven't explained why you think Jesus would warn us about being judged on the evidence...

    Re: Justification by faith alone

Iíve never seen a good explanation of Matt 25 vs. 31 Ė 46 from those who divorce works and faith. When Jesus talks about those who inherit the kingdom, he doesnít even mention belief or faith. Rather...

Based on some of the responses Iíve gotten on this forum, it does seem Iíve agitated a few. Looking back on my posts, I do have to admit theyíre a bit short. Sorry about that.

    Jesus also said

None of those who cry out, Lord Lord will enter the kingdom of God, but only the one who does the will of my Father.

Jesus said seek and you shall find, nock and th door will be opened.

    Enter through the narrow gate.

That's the one percent or so that God requires of us.

    Re: Justification by faith alone

Are you saying that James is not an apostle or speak with authority?
    How about Matthew?
  17. Re: I'm being told that if someone is born again they do not sin.

Yes, I believe in justification by faith alone.
That is faith in what Jesus taught, not faith in one's faith.
I believe that is where we differ.

If you have faith in Jesus, you will submit to...

Re: The Pelagian captivity of the church

    Very good article.

I'd have to say I find the semi-Pelagianism idea reasonable and consistant with scripture.
  19. Re: I'm being told that if someone is born again they do not sin.

If a person ever sinned in the past, they can't claim they are without sin. This is true.

If a person continues to sin, they can't claim they are born again (again according to John's definition)...

    Re: Justification by faith alone

I'm saying you can't seperate the two.
Works without faith is like dirty rags. (Paul says this)
Faith without works is like a dead corpse. (James says this)

I don't remember the exact quote,...

    Re: Justification by faith alone

If you take time to read something other than Paul's writings, you will see the importants of works in salvation.

As one exaple, take a look at Jesus words when he talks about the last judgement...
  22. Re: I'm being told that if someone is born again they do not sin.

The "born again" term comes from the gospel of John. It's not in any of the other gospels. So I look to the John's writtings to get further explaination of this term. He makes it clear in his...
  23. Re: I'm being told that if someone is born again they do not sin.

By definition of the bible, when Peter was sinning and being rebuked by Jesus, he was not born again. When he suffered a martyrs death, he was born again.
  24. Re: I'm being told that if someone is born again they do not sin.

If you read 1 John 3 verse 4 - 10, you will see the bible does agree with him.
