This is a really great article!

The concept of repentance as 'sorrow for sin' and a separate act from faith, taught by many free-will advocates, has nothing to do with the biblical perspective. Repentance is a corollary to faith, a change of mind about the gospel. In the first act of believing we also embrace the gospel with our minds as opposed to spurning it mentally in the past.

Our first experience of the 'assurance of faith' may or may not occur at the same time that God regenerates us unto life. As this article states, the fact that we believe and have assurance now is all that is necessary to identify us with the elect of God.
