Knowing the Father and the Son

Matthew 11:27 – All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.

The grace of God in salvation comes to ungodly sinners by Christ, the Mediator, and on the basis of His having glorified the Father by fulfilling all the conditions of salvation.  All eternal life resides in Christ to be sovereignly dispensed by Him to all whom the Father has given Him.  Do you want this grace?  Do you desire this great salvation?  It is in God the Son incarnate alone, and no one knows the Son but the Father.  If we want to know the Son savingly, we must come to know Him as the Father reveals Him in His Word.  God the Father reveals Christ as the one sent of the Father to fulfill all righteousness on behalf of His elect so as to enable Him to be both a just God and a Savior and to insure the eternal salvation and final glory of all for whom the Son died.  God the Father promises to save sinners and give them the whole inheritance of eternal life based on the righteousness of Christ freely imputed.  And this truth is revealed to them by God-given faith.  Sinners must know Him and see that His righteousness alone makes the difference in salvation, that His righteousness alone entitles them to all of salvation. Any other "Christ" is a counterfeit.

No one knows the Father except through the Son, as He is revealed in and by the Son.  God the Father has engaged every attribute of His character to save sinners based on the righteousness of Christ.  It is in the accomplishment of this salvation that God is glorified as both a just God and a Savior – His Fatherly character.  All who come to God seeking salvation based on anything else cannot approach God as a loving Father.  They approach Him only as a righteous Judge.  All who insist upon this will be eternally damned, because a righteous judge cannot save or bless sinners based on their works, not even their best works.  All who approach God on the basis of Christ's righteousness alone find Him to be both a just God and a Savior, a righteous Judge and a loving Father.  Again, God the Father promises to save sinners and give them the whole inheritance of eternal life and final glory based on the righteousness of Christ freely imputed and revealed by faith.  This is the Father as revealed in and by Christ.  This is His redemptive glory!

John 17:3 – And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

So we know both the Father and the Son savingly as God the Holy Spirit effectually applies God's truth, God's doctrine, to our minds and hearts so that we can identify and distinguish the true and living God, our heavenly Father, from idols, and so that we can identify and distinguish the true Christ, our Lord and Savior, from all counterfeits.  Apart from God's truth, His testimonies, His doctrine, there is no evidence of salvation knowledge of either the Father or the Son.  Without right doctrine, there will be no salvation.  The Gospel message identifies and distinguishes both the Father and the Son.  The Scripture is clear on this issue.  Only those who know and abide in the doctrine of Christ know both the Father and the Son.  They worship the true and living God through Christ Jesus our Lord –

2 John 9 -- Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.
