Not all men are called to the service of an elder. Yet, all men who are should make themselves both an addict of truth, doctrine, and theology paired with an impossible resolve and high affection for looking over the sheep as he teaches these truths to them by the authority of Scripture. He should mount his mind upon the riches of the Word of God until he is taught and with great certainty can see the path by which he should instruct the sheep.
