Trinity Hymnal, page 400 (know that by heart), it is a favorite hymn of mine, probably a favorite of most every believer. I had a dream a few days ago with that hymn as the focus of the dream, oh how very real it was. I was singing this hymn while someone from across the room was giving me a most horrible mean look and I was crying all the while. The most amazing thing about dreams, they are a bit of reality. I woke up and the tears were real and still there and so I got out my hymnal and read the words to the hymn and I was comforted.

The Fount is the source of all our blessings, Christ our Head, our Great Shepherd. The hymn tells us of those spiritual blessings given us by God in Christ Jesus. “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ” Ephesians 1:3

There are streams of mercy that never cease, the Scripture says. “It is of the LORD”S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not, they are new every morning, great is thy faithfulness: Lamentations 3:22-23 Oh how much we need His mercy every moment of the day. Have you ever gotten up in the morning with this very thought on your mind, knowing that the day would be fine even if it didn't ‘feel’ like it at the time all because you know they are NEW……His mercies!

We can raiser our own Ebenezer’s, our own stones of help in our praise to Him having the knowledge that we were strangers wandering from the fold of God, sought and found by Jesus. “that at that time you were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ” Ephesians 2:12-13

Prone to wander, Lord I feel it, prone to leave the God I love. “Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ: Philippians 1:6

“You were like sheep going astray, But now you have been returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls. 2 Peter 2:25

How great a debtor to grace that I am and it is only His grace that binds my wan-d’ring heart to Him. It is not of me, but of Him. We are His and it IS His good pleasure to bring each of His children safely home, His purchased possesions. Here’s my heart, O take and seal it. “Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts” 2 Corinthians 1:22 Amen!
