Pristine Grace

Come, Thou Long Expected Jesus!
by Eileen Beckett
Come, Thou Long Expected Jesus!

Come, thou long-expected Jesus,
Born to set thy people free;
From our fears and sins release us;
Let us find our rest in thee.
Israel's strength and consolation,
Hope of all the earth thou art;
Dear Desire of ev'ry nation,
Joy of every longing heart.

Born thy people to deliver,
Born a child, and yet a King,
Born to reign in us for ever,
Now thy gracious kingdom bring.
By thine own eternal Spirit
Rule in all our hearts alone;
By thine all-sufficient merit
Raise us to thy glorious throne.

Let all the people of God rejoice in the birth of Jesus Christ. In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

The Greek word translated 'dwelt' means to occupy, or specifically to 'reside' as God did in the Tabernacle of old, which is a symbol for protection and communion. What a wonderful picture this presents to us of Christ, our God and our Savior coming to dwell with His people so that we might have communion with Him. May His coming always be a wonder to us and may we keep it close and ponder it in our heart, just as Mary did!

Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth and the Life and He has said to those that believe, "and ye shall know the Truth and the Truth shall make you free.....if the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed!"

Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
Shall come to thee, O Israel.

He has come and He will come again!
