The 400 Year Reign of the Baptist Popes
...The Protestant movement arose in the early 16th century as an attempt to overthrow centuries of corruption and false doctrine in the Roman Catholic church. The heart and soul of the Protestant Reformation focused on a revival of Pauline soteriology, in opposition to the Papal doctrine of justification before God achieved by means of inner transformation--communicated in the clergy-administered church sacraments. The leaders of Protestantism have never acknowledged that the entire system of Roman soteriology was invented and expounded by Augustine of Hippo. There is instead an insistence that Augustinian theology is the very basis of the Reformation. Gus is alleged by Reformed teachers to espouse justification exclusively by the free grace of God in the person of Jesus Christ....

A Comparison of Sovereign Grace and Federal Vision Teaching
...The history of Protestant dogma is full of paradoxical notions, many of which when taken in isolation can be used to justify Federal Vision teaching. Sovereign Grace Calvinism in this chart is represented in its mature, best, and consistent expression over time....

Acts 13 and How to Preach the Gospel
...One day, as I was walking by a group of "Christians" that were in my neighborhood, one man in the group came up to me and yelled, “Jesus loves you” and shook my hand. This group was on their way to some sort of prayer meeting at a nearby house and embolden by their numbers they felt it was necessary to confront random strangers with their pseudo-evangelism statements and techniques. Given that I know the neighbor they were going to is of the Charismatic persuasion and commonly uses trickery and manipulation to convince people into following Jesus I wasn’t too surprised by their actions. They are very hard at work spreading their false gospel of works and becoming very bold in how many souls they have personally led to Christ. It amazes me how ignorant of the bible and the true gospel these “Christians” truly are. Acts 13 is a perfect example of true gospel preaching. In verses 16-41 Paul clearly lays out the Gospel in all its glory....

Against Soul Winning and Arminian Proselytizing
...As a person who is known as a hyper free grace predestinarian, the most common accusation I face is the lie that my pristine grace friends and I are anti-evangelical.  It's my opinion that this charge is a mischaracterization of me due to a misunderstanding of evangelism.  Those who often fling this accusation against me often have not taken the time to dialog with me about my beliefs or offer to sit down and study the topic of evangelism with me or my other free grace friends.  It seems they are content to cast reproach upon us from their lofty "evangelical" position of authority as pastors, "missionaries", and other unscriptural "leadership positions."...

The Altar of Universalism
...     Many today will seek to worship God at the altar of universalism. They will sit under a preacher who lulls them into the sleep of eternal death with the message of “God loves you, He loves everybody, Christ died for all men so He died for you.” They will perish under this deception while clutching one verse, John 3:16, without knowing what the Bible really says about the love of God and without knowing who Christ died for. Without knowing that God hates some men with a holy and just hatred! We know this by the whole of God’s word. Imagine a sign in the midst of the ashes of Sodom and Gomorrah saying “SMILE GOD LOVES YOU.” Here are just a couple of many verse that show that the god of universal love is not Jehovah God: Rom 9:13  As i...

Are You Called to Preach?
...Do you think you are called to preach? Do you know a zealous man who thinks he is? So what is “this calling” of which we hear often spoken? All throughout the evangellyfish churchianity world, young men get this burning in their bosom that they are “called to preach.” My question for all those that think they are called is this… “PREACH WHAT!?”...

The Augustinian Captivity of the Reformed Church
...It is always interesting when I converse with reformed protestants that live in my community. Although they would say they disagree with most teachings of the Roman Catholic Church, they hold up and lend credence to Augustine of Hippo as if he was some great Protestant reformer. How naive they have become! Have they even considered what Augustine believed to be true? Have they ever done any research? When I state to them that Augustine never believed or taught the Pauline doctrine of Justification by Grace Alone, through Faith Alone, in the Imputed merits of Christ Alone, they recoil and tell me, “My reverend pastor never said what you are saying” They also tell me that “R.C. Sproul, J.I. Packer, and many other reformed scholars speak very highly of Augustine”...

Baptism : A Four Part Study
...What is New Covenant baptism and what does it supersede? Here are some of the common answers in ’the books.’ 1. Water replacing circumcision as the sign of God’s covenant. 2. Adult decisional baptism replacing household baptism. 3. Immersion replacing sprinkling. All of these focus on an administration of water as the primary meaning of baptism. To date, there is no good book available on New Testament baptism providing a comprehensive view of apostolic teaching. Certain truths are presented in all, the ‘big picture’ is present in none. Whether scholarly or elementary. I have witnessed biblical scholars openly admitting this fact. The history of dogma has given us a primary use of the word ‘baptism’ that completely contradicts the New Te...

Biblical Truths You Will Never Learn from Any Scholar or Theologian
...In spite of those standing for the truth of Justification as taught in the apostolic gospel, these associated truths debated on P-Net for years cannot possibly be learned from the most advanced Christian theologians of repute. These are implications of the 5-solas of the Reformation that virtually all theologians deny. If anyone wishes to add to this list please post. If some want to shout 'scripture please' please start a new discussion and don't deny the existence of previous discussions that have presented the evidence....

Billy Talks to His Pastor about God
...Billy: "Pastor, does God love everybody?" Pastor: "Yes, Billy (smile, pats him on the head). Billy: "How come it says in Romans 9 that he hated Esau?" Pastor: "Been reading your Bible, huh, Billy? (still smiles). Well, the Bible also says that God hates, but that only is talking about God's secret decree, and as far as we are concerned, he loves everybody." Billy: "Pastor?". Pastor: "Yes, Billy." Billy: "If God tells us about his secret decree, is it still a secret?" Pastor: "Er, well, I guess.not, Billy, but I meant that we should realize that there is a way the Bible talks about God's love for everybody, and that's what we should think about, not the one or two places where it says God ...

Confessions of a Harsh, Intolerant, Judgmental One
...Note: This article was originally published in the Standard Bearer on May 15, 1997. John Pedersen has given me permission to re-release this article.  - Brandan For many in the tolerant, cultured world of evangelical religion, there is no scum more vile than a harsh, judgmental, pontificating buffoon who goes about judging whether others are "true Christians." Such a one is seen as patently bad, and leaves a sour taste and a sick stomach in his preachy wake, cutting a smelly swath through people who have learned not to put God in the kind of box that can be shaken, opened, and checked. The question is, why are such lumps a part of the landscape? What keeps them going? Since no one likes them and they have the cuddliness of a sore porcupine, who feeds them? As I a...

Dispensationalism's Inability To Understand The Nature of The New Covenant
...Dispensationalism is the dominate belief for most groups that profess to be Christians. Dispensationalism is clearly an abhorrent heresy which has caused many unregenerate people to become fanatical Zionist who place the nation of Israel on a special pedestal. Defending the nation of Israel has become just as important to most dispensationals as the preaching of their false gospel. Given that the vast majority of dispensationalists believe they are in the end times, and that Armageddon is any day now, it is important to examine Dispensationalism based on the scriptures. In studying this topic one of the key things that I notice over and over again is the inability for dispensationalist to understand the nature of the church, the body of Christ and the new covenant. Maybe God hasn’t revealed the truth to them yet, and if that’s the case then maybe they aren’t truly elect (Matt. 11:25,27). Let’s look at some scripture and see what it says....

Does God Save Sinners Through A False Gospel?
...Recently I was discussing with someone about whether a person could be saved under the preaching of a false gospel. As I have been thinking about this over the past few days several things have been brought to my attention. We know first of all that it is only through the preaching of the Truth, the true gospel that God saves sinners as is clearly set forth in Romans 10:14. This is the means whereby God has chosen to save sinners. The truth about the person and work of Christ must be proclaimed and as He is proclaimed His "sheep hear His voice and follow." All of His sheep are eventually brought under the preaching of the true gospel and the Spirit gives them spiritual life which results in ears to hear and eyes to see Christ. So the question remains, "Does God save sinne...

Dr. Edwin Lee Vrell : 1934-2013 : A Tribute
...Two days with Ed and the Lord blew away my Reformed idols! From him I learned many truths regarding the history of dogma that exposed traditional Calvinism for what it was. The Lord caused me to see the hypocrisy of a Protestant movement confessing sovereign predestination but privately hating the doctrine and generally refusing to preach it publicly, especially its full implications. Most of the Calvinist dynasty felt ‘obligated’ to sometimes teach a doctrine so clearly proclaimed in the Bible, however, the moments where this occurred were dreaded and fearful of the consequences of failing to please men. I came to understand that virtually all sovereign grace teaching was paradoxical and affirmed opposing principles in the same breath....

Duty
...For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. Romans 7:18      Many of the early settlers (in fact most of them) which came to the shores of what is now our great nation came here as indentured servants. Since there were no bankruptcy laws in England at the time, if a man incurred a debt that he could not pay he either had to go to a debtors prison until that debt was settled (where many died in utter poverty) or sell himself into slavery to someone willing to pay off his debts. In view of the fact that the need for laborers of all types in the colonies was great, there were many businessmen who would gladly pay off the debts of any who agreed to come to the new world...

The End of the Five Solas Reformation
...Today we stand at an end of the Grace revolution God launched upon the world in the 16th century. The respected contemporary theology winning the hearts of masses is the Pharisaism of Christ’s day, transformed into the movements of Western (Latin) Christianity, Eastern Christianity, Talmudic Judaism, and Islam. In addition the Protestant movement of today, including even strict nonconformist sects, has been absorbed into the Latin tradition to an extent that it bears no clear uncompromising testimony of the doctrines of free and unmerited Grace....

Errors of Modern Evangelists
...     The fundamental errors of modern evangelists are: They teach neither the SOVEREIGNTY OF GOD nor the TOTAL DEPRAVITY OF MEN.   They do not teach God's UNCONDITIONAL ELECTION of a people in Christ to be redeemed by His faithful obedience and death. Instead they preach an impotent god who waits to see who will and who will not believe.   They do not teach an EFFECTUAL ATONEMENT accomplished by our Redeemer, but rather make His precious blood to be only an offer, not a sin offering!   They do not teach the OMNIPOTENT SPIRIT of Christ who quickens whom He will and gives life to His sheep, convicts of sin and calls men to Christ.   They do not teach the PRESERVATION NOR PERSEVERANCE OF BELIEVERS. Instead they tell men they may be ...

Exposition of James 2:14-26
...Catholic apologists’ exegesis of James 2 is why they hold to faith plus works for justification before God. However, I completely disagree with Catholicism and many of their doctrines; they are clearly against the Gospel of grace. Protestants in order to hold on to the pure Gospel have to hold that James is talking about faith before men. The text just doesn’t support this view. So the only option for those of us who love the Gospel of grace is to perform and utilize poor interpretation methods or reject James as scripture. I’d rather stay consistence in my interpretation and reject James than have to make Paul and James seem to agree....
