What does the Bible say about God's sovereignty in elections?

Proverbs 21:1 teaches that the heart of the king is in the hands of the Lord, indicating His sovereign control over earthly leaders.

The Bible clearly asserts God's sovereignty over all authorities, including political leaders. Proverbs 21:1 states, 'The heart of the king is in the hands of the LORD; He turns it wherever He wills.' This affirms that God is ultimately in control of who rises to power and for what purpose. Regardless of the outcome of elections, God's purposes and plans remain unthwarted. His sovereignty ensures that every event unfolds according to His divine will, maintaining the belief that nothing escapes His authority.

Proverbs 21:1, Romans 8:28

How do we know God is in control during uncertain times?

Romans 8:28 assures us that God works all things together for the good of those who love Him.

Christians can be assured of God's control even in times of uncertainty due to the promise made in Romans 8:28, which states that 'we know that all things work together for good to those who love God.' This verse reassures believers that God is actively working in our lives and history, further emphasizing His sovereignty. During changing political landscapes and social unrest, it serves as a reminder that God is orchestrating every event for His glory and the ultimate good of His people. Trusting in His omnipotence allows believers to find peace amid uncertainty.

Romans 8:28

Why is prayer important for Christians during elections?

Prayer is vital because it invites God’s intervention and guidance in the electoral process.

Prayer plays a crucial role for Christians, especially during elections, as it provides a means for believers to seek God's wisdom and intervention. Through prayer, Christians can express their dependence on God, asking for discernment in choosing leaders who align with biblical values. Additionally, prayer fosters a heart of peace, knowing that God is in control regardless of the political outcomes. The practice of praying for leaders and elections aligns with Scriptural teachings on the necessity of being prayerful in all circumstances, reinforcing the truth that God listens and responds to the prayers of His faithful.

Philippians 4:6-7, 1 Timothy 2:1-2

“The heart of the king (president) is in the hands if the LORD, and as rivers of waters, he turneth it whithersoever he will.” - Proverbs 21:1

There is much interest in the coming election but here are some things that are true no matter who is the next president.

  1. The Bible will still have all the answers.
  2. Prayer will still be answered.
  3. The Holy Spirit will still exalt the Lord Jesus.
  4. God will still inhabit the praises of His people.
  5. There will still be the anointed preaching of Christ crucified.
  6. The purposes of God will still not be thwarted.
  7. God will still be a wall of fire to protect and bless His people.
  8. There will still be the preaching of the Cross!
  9. The Lord Jesus is still coming again.
  10. Christ Jesus will still save sinners and continue to build His church.

ISN'T IT GREAT TO KNOW THAT GOD IS THE GOD OF PURPOSE--- HE REALLY IS IN CONTROL! ROMANS 8:28 WILL STILL BE TRUE!
