What does the Bible say about salvation?

The Bible teaches that salvation is a deliberate act of God to redeem His chosen people from their sins.

According to Scripture, salvation is not a random or universal act but a purposeful mission by our Lord. He came specifically to save a particular people, as outlined in various passages that affirm God's sovereign choice in salvation. This is seen in His fulfilling the promise of redemption outlined throughout the Scriptures, culminating in the death of Christ, which was God's free gift to humanity. His sacrificial death was necessary because humanity, by nature, is sinful and in need of redemption.

Romans 5:8, 2 Timothy 1:9

How do we know God's election is true?

God's election is affirmed through the preaching of His Word and the conviction of the Holy Spirit.

The doctrine of election is rooted in the belief that God has chosen specific individuals for salvation according to His will. This truth is confirmed through the preaching of the Gospel, wherein the Holy Spirit works to convince the elect of their sinfulness and need for a Savior. Through this process, individuals recognize themselves as sinners and understand that Christ's death was necessary for their redemption. It is a profound truth that underscores God’s sovereignty in salvation, emphasizing His initiative rather than human effort.

Ephesians 1:4-5, Romans 8:30

Why is the death of Christ important for Christians?

The death of Christ is essential as it provides complete redemption for those whom God has chosen.

The importance of Christ's death cannot be overstated in the Christian faith; it represents the pinnacle of God's plan for redemption. God's free gift through Christ’s death allows believers to be completely redeemed from their sins. This act was a necessity due to humanity's nature as sinners, as it reflects both justice and mercy. For Christians, understanding the significance of Christ’s sacrifice encourages a deep sense of gratitude and reverence, as it highlights God's grace and the love that compelled Him to provide such salvation.

1 Peter 1:18-19, John 3:16

Our Lord came on purpose, to save a particular people, and He accomplished what He came to do!  If you are one of those particular people, and if He accomplished salvation for you, then He will notify you of it through the preaching of His Word. In His notification, He will convince you of the fact that you are a sinner; the worst sinner you’ve ever known!  That is the very reason why He had to die.  It was to save you from your sins.  His death was God the Father’s free gift to you.  And in His free gift, you are completely redeemed!  It was all appointed by the Father, and obtained by the Son.  To Him be glory forever!
