The question is asked, “By what method can we maintain peace and friendship with most people?” Now I know that there are many, many things involved here; but if it can be narrowed down to one critical point, I would say what Paul said in Titus 3:2, “Speak evil of no man.” A man's name, reputation, and character are tender topics and ought to be handled most carefully; for an attack upon him in this area will bring retaliation.
Men may disagree, dispute, and walk their separate ways and still live in peace. But to speak evil OF a man is to attack his name and character, and that will destroy peace.
