Most believers will confess that we have seen a doctrine or truth in the scriptures, believed it to be true, believed it to be a part of divine revelation, and held a firm grip on it! Only later, in God's time, by God's grace, we have had that same truth revealed to us by God's Spirit and so experienced it in our hearts that it now has a grip on us! There is a difference, which is possibly expressed by Job in Job 42:5-6. “I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear; but now mine eye seeth thee. Wherefore, I repent...!”
