Paul wrote in Colossians 3, “Put off the old man and put on the new man.” The old nature will be with us until we die; therefore, he must be continually put off; suppressed and denied!

One way to put off the old man is to starve him. He is nourished and strengthened when he is in the company of profane and unworldly companions, when he reads suggestive and carnal literature, when he watches certain movies and TV programs, when he is allowed to dwell on malicious or lustful thoughts, and when the conversation he hears is gossip and criticism of others.

Take these things away from the old man, starve him; and rather feed the new man on the things in which he delights and desires.
