For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them. - Galatians 3:10

As many as seek acceptance before God, justification from sin and eternal life by their own works and righteousness, are under the curse of the law; for the law requires doing, not knowing, or hearing, or approving, but perfectly doing all that it requires in word, thought, and deed. There were many justified before the law was written, and there were many justified during the legal dispensation; but no one was ever justified by his obedience to the law! The law was never given to save, but to reveal sin, to stop our mouths, and to shut us up to our Redeemer, the Lord Jesus Christ. “The just shall live by faith.”
