How do we know God's promise of salvation is true?

Answered in 4 sources

God's promise of salvation is confirmed through Scripture, particularly in the fulfillment of the Messianic prophecies about Christ.

The assurance of God's promise of salvation rests in the faithfulness of His Word and the fulfillment of prophetic Scripture. Throughout the Old Testament, God made covenants and promises regarding salvation, ultimately culminating in the coming of Christ, who fulfills these prophecies as the promised Messiah. For instance, Genesis 3:15 speaks of the seed of the woman who will crush the serpent's head, a clear reference pointing to Christ's victory over sin and death.

Furthermore, Scripture consists of numerous promises regarding God's merciful character and His unwavering commitment to save those who believe. As believers, we can trust that God's character is consistent; He cannot lie (Titus 1:2) and has proven His faithfulness through the ages. Therefore, we can confidently affirm that His promise of salvation is not only true but also guaranteed in Christ's redemptive work on the cross, solidifying God’s role as both just and a Savior.
