How do we know that Christ died for the elect?

Answered in 3 sources

The Scriptures explicitly show that Christ's intercession pertains only to the elect, confirming His sacrifice was for them.

The understanding of Christ's atonement being limited to the elect is reinforced by His priestly office. In John 17:9, Christ prayed specifically for those given to Him, which indicates that His intercessory work is aligned with His sacrificial work. If Christ's sacrifice was for all, but His intercession is only for believers, this leads to a contradiction regarding the roles He fulfills as high priest. Therefore, the consistent narrative of Scripture points to Christ dying not just as a general sacrifice but specifically as a redemptive act for His chosen people, the elect.
