We know we have eternal life by faith in Jesus Christ and the testimony of the Holy Spirit (1 John 5:11-13).
Assurance of eternal life is granted to believers through faith in Jesus Christ. In 1 John 5:11-13, it states, 'And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.' This assurance is not merely subjective; it is grounded in the objective reality of Christ's atoning work. Moreover, the Holy Spirit testifies to our spirits that we are children of God (Romans 8:16). As we trust in the gospel and abide in the truth of God's word, we can be confident in our salvation, knowing it is not based on our deeds but on the perfect righteousness of Christ applied to us. In addition, John writes, 'These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life' (1 John 5:13).
