Why is it important for Christians to focus on Christ?

Answered in 5 sources

Focusing on Christ is essential for Christians as He is the source of strength, guidance, and comfort in their spiritual journey.

The importance of keeping eyes on Christ is emphasized throughout scripture and noted in the actions of Mary. By centering our lives on Jesus, we find the source of our identity, purpose, and strength. In John 12:7-8, Jesus defends Mary's act of devotion, indicating that her focus on Him was not only appropriate but necessary. Christ is the one who enables believers to serve and endure life's challenges. When our attention shifts away from Him towards self or works, we risk falling into despair or self-righteousness. Thus, focusing on Christ ensures we are sustained and equipped for the good works He has prepared for us.
