How do we know Christ's work is sufficient for salvation?

Answered in 24 sources

We know Christ's work is sufficient for salvation because He is presented in Scripture as the sole mediator who has fully satisfied God's justice through His sacrifice.

The sufficiency of Christ's work for salvation is demonstrated throughout Scripture. Ephesians 5:2 refers to Christ giving Himself as a sacrifice to God. Furthermore, Hebrews 9:26 states that He appeared once to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself. The new covenant established by Christ's blood indicates that no further offerings are needed for the atonement of sin, as His sacrifice was perfect and complete. This is foundational in Historic Reformed theology, where reliance on Christ's obedience and shed blood is central to the believer's justification and acceptance before God.
