Let's open tonight's service
with hymn number 22 from your Spiral Gospel Hymns hymnbook,
number 22, For the Glory of His Grace. Let's all stand together. We were ruined by the fall. Adam's sin defiles us all. By our deed as by our birth,
we deserve the law's great curse. Helpless, hopeless sinners we,
never can our souls retrieve. But the blessed Son of God Came
as man in flesh and blood He fulfilled the law's demands And
in death stretched out his hands On the cross of Calvary Christ
redeemed and set us free In the time which God had set, the Spirit
came for His elect to regenerate and call from the ruin of the
fall. By His power and by His grace,
we were born for God's own praise. ? Now your purpose we fulfill
? ? Saved according to your will ? ? Sing this song of joyful
praise ? ? For the glory of your grace ? ? Blessed, holy, triune
God ? ? Hear our praise through Christ our Lord ? Please be seated. Evening. Let's open our Bibles
together to 1 Kings 10. I wanted to read this because
in our passage of Scripture tonight of Psalm 72, the Queen of Sheba
is made mention of as coming to praise Solomon. Solomon, of course, being a picture
of Christ. And what a picture of our Lord's
glory that's given here in 1 Kings chapter 10. Remember when the
Pharisees said to the Lord, we would see a sign. We want proof
that you are who you say you are. And the Lord said, a wicked and
perverse generation seeketh after a sign. And then he said, the
queen of the south will stand in judgment of this generation,
for she came to hear the wisdom of Solomon. And one greater than
Solomon is here among you. So Solomon in this passage of
scripture clearly represents Christ and Queen of Sheba is
the experience of every child of God who comes into his presence. And when the Queen of Sheba heard
of the fame of Solomon concerning the name of the Lord, she came
to prove him with hard questions." Oh, there are some hard questions,
aren't there? How shall a man be right with God? If God should mark iniquity,
who should stand? And she came to Jerusalem, that's
a good place to go, a city of peace, to meet the man of peace,
with a very great train, with camels that bear spices, with
much gold and precious stones. And when she had come to Solomon,
she communed with him of all that was in her heart. She made
a great effort to travel from Sheba, to meet with Solomon in
Jerusalem. I think there's a picture there
of the effort that God's people
make to be where the Lord is and where he's pleased to make
himself known. And Solomon told her all her
questions and there was not anything hid from the king, which he told
her not. And when the Queen of Sheba had
seen all Solomon's wisdom, and the house that he had built,
and the meat of his table, and the sitting of his servants, oh, when we see that meat, which
is the body of Christ. And we see the sitting of the
servants of God, how they're resting in him and the attendance
of his ministers and their apparel, their robe of righteousness and
his cup bearers and his assent by which he went up into the
house of the Lord. There was no more spirit in her. And she
said to the king, It was a true report that I heard in my own
land of all thine acts and of thy wisdom. How be it? I believed not the words until
I came, and my eyes had seen it. And behold, the half was
not told me. Thy wisdom and prosperity exceedeth
the fame which I heard. Happy are thy men. And happy
are thy servants, which stand continually before thee, and
that hear thy wisdom. Blessed be the Lord thy God,
which delighteth in thee, to set thee on the throne of Israel. Because the Lord loved Israel
forever, therefore made he the king to do judgment and justice. And she gave the king 120 talents
of gold and of spices very great store. and precious stones, and
there came no more such abundance of spices as these which the
Queen of Sheba gave to King Solomon." Look down at verse 13. And King
Solomon gave unto the Queen of Sheba all her desire, whatsoever
she asked, because that which Solomon gave her of his royal
bounty. So she turned and went to her
own country. She and her servants. Let's pray. Our blessed and glorious Heavenly
Father, we come into Thy holy presence in the name of Thy dear
Son, knowing, Lord, that we have no right or righteousness of
our own, But oh, what great hope we have in knowing that one greater
than Solomon is here among us. One greater than Solomon, whose
wisdom is perfect, whose righteousness is pure, who's seated having
finished the work of redemption. Lord, we look to the Lord Jesus
Christ. We ask Lord that you'd be pleased
once again to feed us with the bread of life. Enable us to to
eat the meat of his body and drink the drink of his blood. Lord, we. Pray that. We would leave this place. Seated. Resting. In the Lord Jesus Christ, for
it's in His name we ask it. Amen. Number 352, 352. Let's stand once again. ? Jesus lover of my soul ? Let
me to thy bosom fly ? While the nearer waters roll ? While the
tempest still is high Hide me, O my Savior, hide, Till
the storm of life is past. Safe into the haven guide, O
receive my soul at last. Other refuge have I none, hangs
my helpless soul on thee. Leave, ah, leave me not alone,
still support and comfort me. All my trust on thee is stayed,
all my help from thee I bring. Cover my defenseless head with
the shadow of Thy wing. Thou, O Christ, art all I want,
more than all in Thee I find. Raise the fallen, cheer the faint,
heal the sick and lead the blind. Just and holy is thy name. I am all unrighteousness. False and full of sin I am, Thou
art full of truth and grace. Plenteous grace with Thee is
found, Grace to cover all my sin. Let the healing streams
abound, make and keep me pure within. Thou of life, the fountain art,
freely let me take of Thee. Bring thou up within my heart,
rise to all eternity. Please be seated. Robert was, Robert Horton was
scheduled to have his knee surgery on Tuesday, Monday of this coming
week, but they have, discovered some sort of mass on Deanna's
kidney and they're kind of in flux right now. So we're not
sure if he's going to have that surgery Monday or she's going
to have to have some sort of surgery. But remember them. Remember to pray for them. They
don't know they hate not being here. You have your Bibles, let's
turn together to Psalm 72. And I've titled this message,
Amen and Amen. Amen and Amen. They say that the word Amen is
the best known word in all human speech. It is pronounced Amen in almost
every language in the world. was translated from the Hebrew
to the Latin to the English and to every other every other language
as amen it is the root word for amen is the is the Hebrew word
for belief and so really the word amen says I believe amen
so be it it's true I believe that Now, we find the word amen used many,
many times throughout scriptures, but rarely, rarely do we find
it repeated like it is here. There's only a few other places
and I'll tell you what they are quickly, but as we saw Sunday
with the emphasis that the Lord put on grace when he said grace,
grace be unto it. Here the Lord is emphasizing
the declaration that the church makes that it believes what's
just been said. And so I'm hopeful that you and
I will be able to join our hearts with David as he writes this
psalm and just saying, amen, amen, amen. I believe it. Yes, yes. Notice in verse 19
of Psalm 72, and blessed be his glorious name forever. and let the whole earth be filled
with his glory. Amen and amen. Amen and amen. Yes, yes. Now the first mention
of the scriptures using amen back to back like this, and there's
only three or four, is in Numbers chapter 5. when a man suspects
that his wife has been unfaithful to him, but he can't prove it. And so he takes his wife to the
priest and the priest takes water and mixes water with dust and
makes, as the scripture says, a drink of curse. And he says
to the woman, you're going to drink this. And if you're guilty
of what your husband thinks you're guilty of, your belly will swell
and your thigh will rot and you'll be cursed by God. And if you're
not, it won't hurt you. And she says, amen, amen. Now, the only reason she would
say that is if she wasn't guilty. The scripture says that Christ
redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for
us, for it is written, cursed is everyone that hangeth upon
the tree. The Lord Jesus Christ, as the
husband of his bride, knows that we are guilty of being unfaithful
to him. And so he drank that bitter water
for us. He drank the curse for us. He
was cursed by God for our unfaithfulness. And now we are able to say to
the priest, amen, amen. I don't have to fear the curse
of God's wrath for the Lord Jesus Christ drank that cursed water
for me and suffered the wrath of God's justice for my sin. The second time that Amen, Amen
is mentioned in the scripture is found in Nehemiah chapter
8. Children of Israel have been
in Babylon for 70 years. And when they came back, Nehemiah
and Ezra, the scribe, began the construction of the temple. And
in there, going through the rubble of the old temple, they found
a copy of the law of God. And they built a pulpit. And
all the people came and Ezra took the book of the law and
he began early in the morning to read from the book of the
law as he was elevated in this pulpit above the people. And
the scripture says that he read until the afternoon and the people
were attentive to every word that he said. And when he closed
the book, There was a roar in the crowd and all the people
of Israel said, amen, amen. I believe it. I believe everything
that you just said that's written in the book of the law of God. So here we're, we're, we're, Joining our voice with the voice
of that bride who said amen, amen. With the voice of the Israelites
who said amen, amen. Yes, I believe. Amen. Let's go back to the beginning
of Psalm 72. The beginning of Psalm 72. to discover what it is that we
are saying amen to. What is it that we're declaring
that we believe? And in Psalm 72, now this is,
as the title of this Psalm says, a Psalm for Solomon. And after the amen, amen, the
scripture says, and these were the end of David's prayers. And so David, historically now,
is praying for the blessings of God on his son Solomon. But it's clear from this whole
chapter that it's not about Solomon. It's about the Lord Jesus Christ,
the one greater than Solomon, who is among us. Because Solomon
could not fit into the description that's given in this psalm. Only
the Lord Jesus Christ could fit the character that's given to
the one who's being prayed for. And so this is really the prayer
of the church, saying to God, give the king thy judgment, oh
God. The Lord Jesus Christ, who is
King of kings and Lord of lords, does not put away our sin without
satisfying divine justice. Justice had to be satisfied.
We're not interested in a mercy or in a forgiveness that overlooks
the justice of God. We say with David, give the king
by judgment. Judge him. Judge him, exercise,
and that's exactly what the father did. The father poured out his
wrath in justice and in judgment upon the Lord Jesus Christ. And thy righteousness unto the
king's son. Give your righteousness unto
him. See that when he satisfied divine justice, that he himself,
though he bore our sins in his body upon that tree, he himself
was without sin. He is our righteousness. Give all righteousness unto him
and give his righteousness to me. He shall judge thy people
with righteousness and thy poor with judgment. Yes, Lord. Amen. Amen. Judge thy people with righteousness.
Lord, don't bend your law for me. I want your law fully satisfied. I don't want it to be, I don't
want any exceptions to be made from your law. I want all righteousness
to be fulfilled for I am poor. I'm poor and needy. And I need
to know that the judgment of God has been fulfilled by the
king and by the king's son. Amen? Amen. and the mountains shall bring
peace to the people and the little hills by righteousness." Now,
in Romans chapter 10, we have that passage of scripture where
the Lord says, how shall they believe on him whom they have,
or how shall they call upon him in whom they have not believed
and how shall they believe in him whom they've not heard and
how shall they hear without a preacher and then Paul quotes from Isaiah
52 when he says how beautiful are the feet of them that bring
peace and glad tidings but one word that's left out of of Romans
chapter 10 that's found in Isaiah chapter 52 is the word mountains. How beautiful upon the mountains
are the feet of him that brings good tidings and that publish
peace. The good news of the gospel through
the declaration of preaching brings peace, peace to God's
people. We have peace with God through
the Lord Jesus Christ. He is our peace offering. And what a beautiful message. The mountains shall bring forth
peace. The false prophets are always
saying, peace, peace, when there is no peace. But listen to what,
listen to what the Lord says to us in Isaiah chapter 32, verse
17. And the work of righteousness
shall be peace and the effects of righteousness, quietness and
assurance forever. Now that's Isaiah 32 verse 17,
the work of righteousness shall be peace. Peace I leave you,
my peace I give unto you. The world sees peace as an absence
of conflict, as good circumstances in this
life. But the peace that you need is
not to have conflict with God. And I've satisfied God's justice
and judgment through the sacrifice of myself on Calvary's cross.
And so we have that we have the effects of peace, which is quietness
and assurance. We can be still and know that
God is satisfied with what the Lord Jesus Christ has done on
our behalf. The mountain shall bring peace
to the people and the little hills by righteousness. There's only one message of salvation
that brings peace. The false prophets say peace,
peace when there is no peace, but we have peace with God. We
have the prince of peace who has ascended back into glory
and presented himself on our behalf. And the Lord says, be
still, be quiet and be sure Your confidence is not in yourself,
but you can come before the throne of grace with confidence, with
boldness, knowing that you will find help and grace in your time
of need. Why? Because the effects, the
effects of righteousness is quietness and assurance. And he, verse four, he shall
judge the poor of the people. Oh, blessed of God are the poor
in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of God. Lord, I don't have anything.
I can't make peace with God. I can't establish my own righteousness.
I can't put away my sin. I have nothing to offer God that
would satisfy His holy justice. Well, here's the good news for
those. He shall judge the poor of the people. He shall save
the children of the needy and shall break in pieces the oppressor. How? Through the preaching of
the gospel. You know, God's people are oppressed. They're oppressed by Satan. They're
oppressed by sin. They're oppressed by their flesh.
They're oppressed by this world. I had a brother tell me recently,
he said, you know, the only time I know absolutely for certain
that I'm a child of God is when I'm hearing the gospel. Every other time I'm battling
the oppressor. The accuser of the brethren is
always there. And here's what the Lord said,
He shall judge the poor of the people. He'll do it. He'll present
them justified before God because they had nothing to justify themselves. He justified them. And He shall save the children
of the needy. He shall save them. I don't try
to save me did say you shall call his name he shall save his
people from their sins he came in order to save his people and
to make an offering up himself to God and that's what he did
and righteousness is established and we have peace with God And
this whole psalm ends with what our hearts say with every verse,
amen and amen. Yes, that's what I believe. That's
who I believe. And verse five, and they shall
fear thee as long as the sun and moon endure. And this is the, the moon is
mentioned two or three times in this psalm. And the moon is
a picture of the church. The moon's a picture of the church
reflecting the glory of God on the earth. And the sun is the Lord Jesus
Christ himself, the son of righteousness, the son of God. And as long as
the sun and the moon endure, as long as Christ and his church
are here in this world, then the people of God will fear him,
will worship him, will bow in submission and adoration to him
as showers, I'm sorry, throughout all generations, from generation
to generation. And God's people have been doing
this and they've been reading these words and they've been
saying, God's people have been joining their hearts with David
and saying amen and amen to the truths that we're speaking of
and hearing right now. Nothing's changed from generation
to generation. He is feared for his justice
and for his mercy. He shall come down like rain
upon mown grass as showers that water the earth. Oh, Norm, you
preach from that Sunday morning. Lord, rend the heavens and come
down. Cause showers of Thy blessings
and Thy grace to come down upon me. And sometimes those showers
are just the dew, just the dew that beads up on the grass quietly. Sometimes the Lord showers us
with His blessings very quietly. in the secrets of our hearts,
and sometimes in things that we don't even know. And then
sometimes there's torrents of showers that come. So these showers
are in different degrees and in different times and in different
ways, but the Lord's not going to allow the trees of His righteousness,
which are His plantings, to not be planted by the rivers of water.
There's going to be showers. There's going to be blessings
that he's going to send. And in his days shall the righteous
flourish. The righteous shall flourish.
They shall. They will grow in grace and in
the knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. We don't see it in ourselves,
but we see it in one another, don't we? We see it in one another. And here's the promise of God. My people will flourish. They
will let the rest of the world languish. The rest of the world
starve. The rest of the world can drink
of the polluted waters of broken cisterns all they want. We have
the river of life and the showers of God's blessings. We have the
meat of His body and the drink of His blood. And the Lord promises
to make his people to flourish even in this dry and thirsty
land. And abundance of peace, abundance
of peace. Every time we hear the gospel,
every time we're troubled by the oppressor, We're brought
to come back to the throne of grace, and the Lord once again
gives us peace. He says to us, peace. Don't be
afraid. I know the thoughts that I have
for you. Thoughts of good, not of evil. I'm going to bring you
to your expected end. You're going to flourish. You're
going to be fed. I'm not going to let you starve. How long is this going to be?
How long is this promise for? as long as the moon endures. Now, that means that when the
church of the Lord Jesus Christ is taken out of this world, that's
it. That's it for this world. The only purpose this world serves
is to provide for God's people, for the church. And as soon as
the moon ceases to endure in this world, so does the message
of peace. You know what else this says? This this speaks to me about.
About how special it is. To have. An assembly of believers
where we can come together fellowship around the gospel and hear the
Word of God being preached. How rare and how special and
how few and how far between are the assemblies of God's people.
And as long as that endures, there'll be peace. There'll be
peace. Verse eight, he shall have dominion
also from sea to sea. And all God's people said, amen,
amen. Amen. I believe that. I believe
that from the smallest microscopic element to the grandest telescopic
black hole out there in the universe, that my God is controlling everything. He has dominion over it all. Do I understand that? No. Do
I believe it? Yes, yes. He's controlling everything
in creation, in providence, in salvation. He has dominion, dominion. What a comfort, what hope to
believe, to know. that he works all things after
the counsel of his own will. He accomplishes his purpose in
everything and everything he's doing ultimately is for his glory
and it's for our good. And from the river unto the ends
of the earth, They that dwell in the wilderness shall bow before
him and his enemy shall lick the dust. In Revelation chapter
10, the church of the Lord Jesus Christ is seen as a woman cast
out into the wilderness. And the scripture says, and the
Lord prepared for her there. He provided for her in that wilderness,
an oasis to go and to get fresh water. He provided for her manna
from heaven, just like He provided for the children of Israel that
were in the wilderness. So the Lord provides for His
bride, even though she's living in Babylon, even though she's
living in the wilderness, He provides everything for her and
she bows before Him. And she says, Amen. Amen. And the kings of Tarshish and
of the Isles shall bring presents. The kings of Sheba and Seba shall
offer gifts. Now, Seba is Ethiopia. We have
the story of that Ethiopian eunuch. Not only we have the queen of
Sheba and first kings that we just read, But we have the story
of the Ethiopian eunuch who came, who was the treasurer. He was
the treasurer of Candace, the queen of Ethiopia. This man was
wealthy. And he hears the gospel, and
Philip preaches the gospel to him. And here's a picture of
Sheba and Seba. Tarshis? Who's from Tarshis? Saul was, wasn't he? Saul was. So these are all fulfilled in
the blessings that God gives as these different kings and
men and women come together to offer up worship to the king. Yea, all kings shall fall down
before him and all nations shall serve him. That's symbolic of
the fact that the Lord makes of us kings and priests. But it's also true in that one
day, one day, every knee will bow and every tongue will confess
that Jesus is Lord to the glory of God, the father and God's
people said, amen, amen. I want to bow now. I don't want
to be smitten with a rod of iron on the back of my knees causing
me to bow in that day of judgment. I want to bow willingly. Lord, make me willing. Make this
to be the day of your power in my life. For he shall deliver the needy
when he crieth. Who was more needy? Who was more
needy than the Lord Jesus Christ? Who cried more sincerely than
the Lord Jesus Christ? When he cried, my God, my God,
why hast thou forsaken me? When he cried, father into thy
hands, I commend my spirit. When he said the work that the
father gave me to do, I came to finish and father, I am finished. It is finished. The work is done. He cried as the poor and the
needy one. When the Lord Jesus Christ said
to John the Baptist, or said about John the Baptist, none
greater than John has ever been born of a woman,
but he that is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he. Who
is least in the kingdom of God? Who humbled himself the most? Who became of no reputation,
emptied himself, became least? The Lord was talking about himself.
He's the one that was least in the kingdom of God. And he's
the one that cried out as the needy one. Did the Father answer
his cry? Yeah, he did, didn't he? He raised
him from the dead. He rewarded him for his faithfulness. Is the father going to continue
to hear the cries of his children, the poor and the needy? Yeah,
yeah. Look what he says, for he shall
deliver the needy when he crieth, the poor also, and him that has
no helper. The Lord Jesus Christ had no
one to help him on the cross. When we feel like we've got nobody
to help us, Lord, my circumstances, my sin, my situation, I've got
to have help, Lord. Deliver me, help me. The Lord
knew, he knows what it's like to be helpless. He knows what
it's like to have to put all his burden on his father. And
the father answered that prayer. And we're to come to him in the
same way that he went to the father. Poor and needy without
a helper. He shall spare the poor and the
needy and shall save the souls of the needy. He saves everyone
who's needy. Everyone. Everyone who's poor,
everyone who has no one to help him, everyone who's devoid of
all righteousness, everyone who has nothing but their sin, he
saves every one of them. That's what he just promised.
He said, I'll save them. God's people say, amen, amen.
Amen, amen. That's what I need. I need a
savior. How am I going to stand in the
presence of God? The Queen of Sheba tried Solomon
with hard questions. Most people don't want to hear
the answer to those questions, do they? They, how many times we read
in the New Testament where they said, this is a hard saying,
who can hear it? And they walked away. They walked
away. What were they saying? They weren't
saying it's hard to understand. They understood exactly what
he was saying. You understand exactly what's being said. The
truth is simple. It's that they didn't like what
he was saying. They didn't agree with what he was saying. How
do I know these things are for me? because every time God speaks,
he enables me to say, amen, amen. I believe every word that he's
spoken. He shall redeem their soul from
deceit and violence. He shall. all the lies, all the
confusions, all the deceits. He said, I'm going to redeem
your soul from that. I'm not going to let you be led
astray into a false gospel. I'm not going to let it happen. And when the enemies of the gospel
come against you, And many believers over the generations have suffered
great violence because of the gospel, shed blood because of
the gospel. And the Lord said, I'm going
to redeem your soul. And precious shall their blood
be in my sight, precious in the eyes of the Lord of the death
of the saints. and he shall live." Amen. The Lord Jesus Christ is my life. In me is life. And to Him shall be given of
the gold of Sheba. Prayer also shall be made for
Him continually and daily shall He be praised. And what the Queen
of Sheba did over there in 1 Kings? What? She lavished Solomon with
gifts. It's what we do. We offer up
our praise and our worship. And to him, they are precious
in his sight. They are gifts. Now remember,
Solomon gave to her more than she gave him. First of all, he
answered all of her hard questions and told her how to be saved.
And then at the end of the story, after she had given him The gifts,
he lavished her with gifts out of his treasury. We just read
that. She went home with more than what she came with. And
so do we. So do we. Prayer also shall be made for
him continually and daily shall it be praised. God's people are brought by the
Spirit of God daily, daily to pray. I know we don't pray as
we ought. We're ashamed when we think about
how shallow and insincere our prayers are, but the truth is
that the Spirit of God brings His people continually, continually
to a spirit of prayer, continually to acknowledge their dependence
upon Him. Verse 16, and there shall be
a handful of corn in the earth upon the top of the mountains.
Just a handful of corn. Do you know what? That's enough
to sustain us, isn't it? Remember the, the, um, Syrophoenician
woman? It's not right that I should
give the children's bread to dogs. Truth Lord. That's what
I am. I'm a dog. But the dogs eat the
crumbs that fall from the master's table. Lord, if you just push
a few kernels of corn, one bite of corn from God's grace is sufficient
to sustain your soul. And he says, there's a handful
of corn upon the top of the mountains. Here's these mountains. These mountains are the church.
These little mountains that we read about in the first couple
of verses, that's the church. That's the individual assemblies
where the gospel is being preached. And the Lord says, you come there.
You come there to that mountain. Beautiful on the mountains will
be the feet of them that bring good tidings and declare peace
to my people. And they'll bring you a handful
of corn and they'll sustain you. They'll sustain your soul with
things that this, there's nothing in this world that'll feed our
souls. And the fruit thereof shall shake
like Lebanon and they of the city shall flourish like the
grass of the earth. all or just the crumbs that come
from your table and the showers of blessings that come from heaven
will cause your people to flourish. They'll be like trees planted
by rivers of living water and in due season, in due season,
they'll produce their fruit. Their leaf will not wither. They'll
not dry up. They'll not die. And God's people said, amen,
amen. Yes, Lord. Yes, I believe this. I believe every word of it. And his name, what is his name? Well, Isaiah 9, verse 6 says,
his name shall be called Wonderful. Wonderful. We use that word very
loosely, don't we? But here, let's understand it
literally. Literally, what does the word
wonderful mean? It means it cannot be comprehended,
it can't be understood, it can't be taken in. We have to say with
David in Psalm 139, when he says, such knowledge is too wonderful,
it is high, I cannot attain to it. How precious also are thy
thoughts unto me, O God, and how great is the sum of them.
If I should count them, they are more in number than the sands. When I awake, you are still there. Lord, this is, your name is wonderful.
It's full of wonder. I cannot comprehend what Jehovah
means. I am to be self-existent. To be underrived and uncreated,
to be the creator and sustainer of all things, that's wonderful. And the wonder of His grace and
the wonder of His power to save someone like me, it's wonderful. To think about His justice, and
what he did to satisfy God's justice. His wrath and his mercy, all
those things are beyond our comprehension. They're wonderful. His name shall
be wonderful. Counselor. Counselor. There's nothing that I cannot
take from him and there's nothing that he does not understand.
He's able. to save to the uttermost them
that come to Him. He saves every part of us, everything
that's necessary in this world and in the world to come. Why?
Because His name is not only wonderful, but His name is Counselor. Solomon told her all her questions. He answered every question she
had. You have not because you ask not. Knock. It'll be opened. Ask. It'll be
given unto you. Seek. You'll find it. He's called the mighty God. The
mighty God. This is beyond our comprehension. When, when Sarah laughed because
she was told at 90 years old, she was going to have a child.
What'd the Lord say? Is anything too hard for the
Lord? Is anything too hard for the
Lord? No, no, nothing's too hard for the Lord. The hardest thing
the Lord ever did was what he did on Calvary's cross when he
laid down his life for his sheep. bore the weight of our sins,
bore the weight of God's wrath. And then for him to make me willing,
to cause me, to cause each one of us to be able to say, amen,
amen and amen. Yes, I believe that, so be it,
it is true. And the Lord says his name should
be called Wonderful Counselor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting
Father, the Everlasting Father. Now, there's something that's
beyond our understanding, how God the Father and God the Son
are equal in every way. And yet, they're two distinct
different persons, aren't they? Prince of Peace. Oh, we have
peace with God through the Lord Jesus Christ. Look what he, and
God's people said, amen, amen. His name shall be continued as
long as the sun and men should be blessed in him and all nations
shall call him blessed. We are blessed in Christ, in
Christ. All the blessings of God are
in Christ. And we are accepted in Christ,
in the beloved. We are found in Christ. And here he says that his name
shall be continued as long as the sun and men shall be blessed
in him and all nations shall call him blessed. Blessed be
the Lord God, the God of Israel, verse 18, who only doeth wondrous
things. It's all he does, everything
he does. And here again, it's like the word wonderful. Here
again, he only does things that are wondrous. They cannot be
understood. They cannot be, God doesn't call
on us. Some of us can remember when
we were in religion before the Lord was pleased to make himself
known to us, we thought we had everything figured out. We had
titles and definitions for every theological perspective and we
had everything categorized and we had our systematic theology
and everything was, and it was true because our God back then
could be understood. He could be understood. He could
be defined. He could be described. He wasn't
wondrous. And now we would never dare to
attempt to try to fully pretend like we know who he is. Our understanding of God is like
a BB rolling around in a boxcar. That doesn't keep us from saying
amen, does it? We don't understand, but we believe.
Amen. Amen. Yes, Lord. Yes. My husband drank that cursed
water because he knew that I was unfaithful. And I say amen, amen
to cursed is everyone that hangeth upon a tree. And he received
the curse of the law on my behalf. And everything in his word declares
who he is. and what he's accomplished. And
God's people say to everything that he's written in his word,
amen and amen. Everything he does is wondrous.
Everything he does in salvation is wondrous. Everything he does
in providence is wondrous. It's beyond our understanding,
but we say amen. We believe it. And blessed be his glorious name
forever. and let the whole earth be filled
with his glory. Amen. And amen. And then verse 20, the prayers
of David, the son of Jesse are accomplished. That's what that
word means. We use the end to mean, well,
it's terminated. It's come to a stopping point. No, the word here means to be
accomplished, to be determined, to be fulfilled, to be finished,
to be completed. So the prayers of David, the
son of Jesse are accomplished. They're accomplished. And all
God's people say. Amen. Amen. Our merciful Heavenly Father.
Thank you for the gift of faith. Lord, we confess to you that.
Your works are wondrous beyond our understanding. But oh, to
be able to bow. And to be able to believe. All
that you've declared and all that you've promised. Lord, keep us. Keep us believing. And causing us to say with every
word that you speak. Amen. And a man. We ask it in Christ name. Amen. Number 42, let's stand together. Let us praise the name of Jesus,
Prophet, Priest and Sovereign King. To him render adoration,
laud and homage to him bring. Let us praise the name of Jesus,
God incarnate from above Came to save his chosen people Sent
by God in covenant love Let us praise the name of Jesus, who
upon Mount Calvary shed his blood and sealed our pardon, died for
sin to set us free. Let us praise the name of Jesus,
Risen, conquering, gracious friend, Advocate and mediator, All our
hopes on Him depend. ? Let us praise the name of Jesus
? ? For he brought us to his fold ? ? Come exalt his name
and worship ? ? May the Savior be extolled ? ? Let us praise
the name of Jesus ? ? Till we see Him face to face ? Then throughout
the endless ages ? Praise Him for His love and grace Amen. Okay. Are you sleeping? Amen.
