Let's open tonight's service
with hymn number 37 from the Spiral Gospel Hymns Hymnbook,
number 37. Approach my soul, the throne
of grace. Let's all stand together. Approach, my soul, the throne
of grace in every time of need. There's mercy for the needy one
who Jesus' name shall plead. Though I'm a weak and sinful
wretch, I will approach the throne. I'll lean upon Christ's mighty
arm and plead His blood alone. The blood, the precious blood
of Christ, has opened up the way by which I can draw near
to God and to my Father pray. Though Satan tempts my heart
to sin, I'll call upon my God. And if I fall, he'll lift me
up and cleanse me in the blood. The way is open, God will hear
my groans and cries of grief. Nothing can keep me from His
throne but mine own unbelief. O Lord, my unbelief remove, and
turn my heart by grace. Compel me to approach your throne,
and there spread out my case. Please be seated. Good evening. That is our need
that the Lord would compel us to come to his throne. Bid me
to come unto thee. Turn me, Lord, and I'll be turned.
Dependent on him for everything, especially for our coming. Let's open our Bibles together
to Psalm 61. Psalm 61. Hear my cry, O God. Attend unto
my prayer. From the end of the earth will
I cry unto thee. When my heart is overwhelmed,
lead me to the rock that is higher than I. Oh, I'm so thankful we
have a rock, a rock that we can get under the shade of, a rock
that we can stand on. The Lord Jesus Christ, he is
that rock. For thou hast been a shelter
for me and a strong tower from the enemy. I will abide in thy
tabernacle forever. I will trust in the covert of
thy wings, Selah. For thou, O God, hast heard my
vows. That can only be understood as
a prayer of Christ who has made a commitment to the Father in
the covenant of grace, and he's fulfilled the requirements of
that commitment. And we in him, for thou, O God,
hast heard my vows, thou hast given me the heritage of those
that fear thy name. The Father has given to the Son,
the bride that he promised him in the covenant of grace. Thou will prolong the king's
life and his years as many generations. He shall abide before God forever. We have an advocate. seated at
the right hand of the majesty on high, whoever lives to make
intercession for us. Oh, prepare mercy and truth,
which may preserve him. So will I sing praise unto thy
name forever, that I may daily perform my vows. the Lord Jesus Christ has performed
everything necessary for the salvation of His people. He's
fulfilled all His vows, all His promises, and our hope is to
rest in His finished work and in the glorious person of His
deity. Let's pray together. Our merciful
Heavenly Father, We come before thy throne of grace as sinners
completely dependent upon thy dear son, our savior, our sin
bearer, our substitute, the one who himself performed everything
that you require, that we might have our sins put away and be
given a righteousness that would make us acceptable and pleasing
in thy sight. Father, we pray that you would
send your Holy Spirit in power. We pray that you would open the
eyes of our understanding. We pray that you would give us
faith. We pray that you would enable us in this hour to rest
all our hope, all our desire on Christ. For it's in his name
we pray, amen. Let's all stand together again.

soul. Please be seated. Will you open your Bibles with
me please to Psalm 60. Psalm 60. I've titled this message,
The Banner of Truth. Some of you may know that there
is a publisher who has taken that name to themselves and they
put out a lot of religious materials. Some of it's true and some of
it's not. But I'm certain that they must
have gotten their name from this scripture. because in Psalm 60
verse 4, thou hast given a banner to them that fear thee that may
be displayed because of the truth. Now that banner is the Lord Jesus
Christ. Jehovah Nisi is what Abraham
called him, the banner, the banner. or that's what Moses called him
in Exodus chapter 17. And we'll look at that passage
in just a moment. But this whole psalm is about the victorious
work of the Lord Jesus Christ. Now the title of the psalm tells
us, you see how long the title is? And if you go back to the
military campaigns that are identified in the title of this psalm, you'll
find that David had just become king and the Lord blessed him
with the ability to overthrow the enemies of Israel. Saul had
failed. There was no success. God had
not given Israel success over their enemies under the reign
of Saul. And when David became king, The Lord was with Israel
and they drove out all the enemies of the people of God. And David,
of course, is a type of the Son of David, the Lord Jesus Christ. And we are represented by Saul. We can't get the victory. We
work, we try, we do everything we can in order to get the victory.
But until the banner of truth, the Lord Jesus Christ. David,
every time he went out, he prayed, Lord, would you have me to go
against the Philistines? Would you have me to go against
the Moabites? Would you have me? And he would get a word from
God. And they would march out with
the banner in front of them. And God gave them victory. What
a picture. What a picture. of the victory
that the Lord Jesus Christ has given us over death, over sin,
over hell, over the grave. The Lord Jesus Christ went out
as our banner and he conquered the enemy. And when he bowed
his head on Calvary's cross and said, it is finished, the battle
was over. The battle was over. Everything
necessary for the salvation of God's people was accomplished
by the Lord Jesus Christ, who himself is the banner of truth,
the banner of truth. Now I'm reminded of the exchange
that took place between the Lord Jesus Christ and Pilate. When
Pilate kept trying to get the Lord to speak and he asked the
Lord, he said, are you the King of the Jews? Tell me. Tell me,
are you the king of the Jews? And the Lord finally said, for
this cause was I born, and for this reason came I into the world,
to bear witness to the truth. The truth. And Pilate, in frustrations,
threw up his hands and said, truth? What is truth? There's no such thing as truth.
Is that what this is all about? Truth? Well, in the world, there
is no such thing as truth. You're not going to find truth
from the educators. You're not going to find truth
from the politicians. You're not going to find truth
from the philosophers. You're not going to find truth
from the psychologist. There's no place where there
is absolute truth where, one is able to believe everything
that's being said. And the Lord Jesus Christ went
on to say, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man can come unto the Father
except by name. There's only one source of truth.
Only one source of truth. Now look what Look at how this psalm begins
in the first three verses. In the first three verses of
this psalm, the Lord is saying to his people, I have made you
dissatisfied with this world. I have caused you to go to and
fro and look here and there for something of substance, something
that's true, something that gives your life meaning and something
that gives you hope for eternal life and you can't find it. Now, that's not true of everybody.
That's not true of everybody. Most folks are completely content
and satisfied with what this world has to offer. And those
who become discontent either become cynical or they completely
separate themselves from this world and become somewhat of
a hermit. They withdraw themselves or they
lose their minds or as most folks, they pretend. And in pretending, they act as
if they know the truth. And in their pretentious, self-righteous,
condescending attitude, this pseudo-intellectual attitude
that the world has about truth, well, I got it all figured out.
I know what's going on. And they want to intimidate everyone
else when they don't have a clue. They don't have a clue. Only
God's people come to the place by the grace of God where they
are able to say there's no truth, there's no substance, there's
no hope, there's no God to be found by anybody in this world. And that's what the first three
verses of this psalm are about. The Lord's bringing us to the
same place that he brought Solomon Turn with me to, before we read
those first three verses, go to Ecclesiastes Chapter 1. Solomon makes it clear. Solomon
had, what he had 600 concubines and 300 wives. He had, he had,
he indulged himself in wine to excess. He was wealthier and
wiser. than any man in the world. And listen to what Solomon says,
the words of the preacher, the son of David, king in Jerusalem. That's Solomon. But in truth,
this is the word of God. He's the preacher. He's the son
of David. He's the king in Jerusalem. But Solomon's writing from his
experience and look what he says. Vanity of vanity, saith the preacher,
vanity of vanities, all is vanity. It's all empty. It's empty. I've tried it all. There's nothing
to it. There's nothing that satisfies
my soul. Oh, I can indulge my flesh and
satisfy the flesh. I can feed the flesh until it's
full. But the soul, it's all empty. It's all vanity. There's no truth. What profit
hath a man all his labors which he taketh unto the sun? One generation
patheth away and another generation cometh, but the earth abideth
forever. Say, you're going to die. You're going to die just
like your father died and just like his father died. And your
children are going to die. And what is there? What is there
in this world that gives any hope after death. The sun also
ariseth, and the sun goeth down, and hastened to his place where
it arose. The wind goeth towards the south, and turneth about
into the north, and whirleth about continually, and the wind
returneth again according to his circuits. All the rivers
run into the sea, yet the sea is not full, and to the place
from whence the rivers come, thither they return again. All
things are full of labor. Man cannot utter it. The eye
is not satisfied with seeing nor the ear filled with hearing."
In other words, you're just in this vicious cycle. We're like
a hamster on a cage. We're just going around and around
and around and around. We're not going anywhere. That's
what God's speaking. And he's describing this world
for what it is. The thing that hath been, it
is that which shall be. And that which is done, is that
which shall be done. And there's no new thing under
the earth. It's just the same old, same
old. You struggling with the same thing your father's generation
struggled with, and they're struggling with the same thing that their
father's generation and our children. There's nothing new under the
sun. You know, we have all these new inventions and stuff and
people think, well that's wonderful, but we're talking about the issues
of life. We're talking about the issues
of the soul. We're talking about knowing God and having truth. We're not talking about whatever
modern inventions we might have in this world. Is there anything
whereof it may be said, see this is new? It hath been already
of old time which was before us. There is no remembrance of
former things, neither shall there be any remembrance of things
that are to come with those things that shall come after. I, the
preacher, was king over Israel and Jerusalem. I gave my heart
to seek and search out wisdom." Now, here he's, this is not the
wisdom of God, this is just his knowledge. When he's using wisdom
here, he's talking about acquiring knowledge. investigating science
and history and all the knowledge of the world. And he says, he
says, I gave my heart to seek and search by wisdom concerning
all things that are done under heaven. See, that's why that
are done under heaven, not the things of heaven, that's the
wisdom of God, that's Christ. But he says, all the things that
are done under heaven, I searched it all out. So now not only was
he wealthy, is incredibly intelligent, had
all the education that a man could have. This sore travail hath God given
to the sons of men to be exercised therewith. I have seen all the
works that are done under the sun, and behold, all is vanity
and vexation of spirit. How many billions of dollars
we just spent to discover a rock at the edge of our solar system?
And everybody is going crazy about it. What is it? It's a rock. But we're going to discover the
origins of the universe. And we spend billions and billions
of dollars in science. That which is crooked cannot
be made straight and that which is wanting cannot be numbered.
I communed with my own heart, saying, Lo, I am come to a great
estate and have gotten more wisdom than all that have been before
me. In Jerusalem, yea, my heart had great experience of wisdom
and knowledge, and I gave my heart to know wisdom and to know
madness and folly. I perceived that this is also
vexation of spirit, for in much wisdom is much grief. And he
that increaseth in knowledge increaseth sorrow. That's why people that are exceptionally
intelligent are usually the people that have the worst problems
with depression and suicide and all those things. Why? Because
with much knowledge comes much sorrow. There's no substance
to it. There's no truth to it. There's no life in it. There's
no way of knowing God through it. All right, go back with me to
Psalm 60. Only God's people are brought
by God's grace to come to this conclusion that we're coming
to. Everybody else is going to spend
their whole lives desperately looking for something of substance
and truth and meaning and hope and salvation in this world. Oh God, thou hast cast us off
Thou has scattered us. Thou has been displeased. Oh,
turn thyself to us again. Thou has made the earth to tremble. Thou has broken it. Heal the
breaches thereof for it shaketh. Thou has showed thy people hard
things. Thou has made us to drink the
wine of astonishment. Lord, you did that. You made
me come to this conclusion that vanity of vanities all is vanity. There's no place in this world,
there's no amount of education, there's no amount of scientific
knowledge, there's no amount of philosophy or psychology that's
going to lead me to God. What am I going to do? There's a banner. There is one. There is one who gives to his
people great hope, great salvation, great encouragement, great peace,
great peace, in spite of the fact that we live in a world
that's dying. We live in a body that's dying. We're struggling in this new
man with the old man that still is with us. And we have a banner,
a banner of truth. Truth. Truth, as I said last Sunday,
is simple. The truth about who we are. There's no amount of, there's
nothing in this world or in religion that's going to reveal to us
who we are. Only God can do that. Only God
can make us to see. You see, there's really only
three avenues that people pursue in order to try to discover truth.
One is conscience, the second is tradition, and the third is
the word of God. Men will look to their, they'll
look from within in order to, in order to discover what the
truth is. I read an article this week about a man that was trying to describe
this struggle that people have and it says, well, it's kind
of like having a white dog, a good dog and a bad dog in you. And
they're constantly in conflict with one another. And the dog
that you feed the most is the one that's going to win. Well, that might describe the
unbeliever's experience in terms of the struggle that he has with
his own conscience. You know, it's kind of like the
picture you see of the guy with an angel on one shoulder and
the devil on the other shoulder and they're both whispering in
the ear and the guy's got to decide and that's their source of truth.
is their conscience. This isn't the believer's experience.
There's only one dog that's winning for the believer. He's already
won. He's already won. We're more than conquerors through
Christ Jesus. We're already victors in Him.
The battle's already been accomplished. The enemy's already been defeated.
But men look to their conscience. The problem with you looking
to your conscience is that number one, conscience is not reliable.
It might give you some ideas to what right and wrong is but
it can be seared. The conscience can be seared.
The conscience can be perverted. The conscience can be deceiving. And the other thing about the
conscience is your conscience The natural man's conscience
will never tell him when he does something good that it's sin. The conscience will never tell
him that. No, the conscience will praise him for what he does
when it's good, won't it? Only the spirit of God can cause
us to believe. that the best thing we've ever
done is altogether vanity, that when we put our best foot forward,
we're sinning, that when we come together to worship what we're
doing right this very minute, we can't do it without sin. We need our Aaron, our high priest,
to bear the iniquity of the holy things in order for our worship
to be acceptable to God. Your conscience will never tell
you that. Your conscience might convict you when you do something
wrong, but your conscience is going to praise you when you
do something right. So the conscience is not a reliable source of truth. The conscience cannot reveal
the Lord Jesus Christ. It cannot. It cannot reveal him
in his person or in his work. The conscience cannot show you
that the Lord Jesus is the fullness of the Godhead bodily. The conscience
cannot tell you that he bore in his body all the sins of all
of God's people and put them away once and for all by the
sacrifice of himself. The conscience cannot tell you
that God saw the travail of his soul and was satisfied. You see,
there's so much the conscience can't do. And yet men rely upon
their conscience That's the first line of defense that men have
to try to discover truth and meaning in life. Well, I'll just
decide for myself what's right and what's wrong and what's good
and what's bad and what's true and what's not true. Man's not
capable of that. The second means that men use
to try to discover truth is tradition. Tradition, what are the standards
of society? What is it that we've always
considered to be right and wrong and true and false? And that's
not just in society, but that's in religion also. That's why
men have creeds and confessions. And the reformers are the worst.
The reformers will stand up. The Calvinistic reformers will
stand up and condemn the Roman Catholics for not believing the
Bible and then turn right around and write for themselves confessions
that they used to test the Bible with. Their confession is higher than
the scriptures and that's their source of truth. That's their, that's the way
they find out what, and then thirdly, God brings
you to the place where you realize my conscience is not sufficient
and the traditions and mores of this world, whatever they
might be, are not sufficient for me to discover the truth.
I've got to have a word from God. I've got to have a word
from God. And then God shows you that every
word in this book is His word. And all scripture is given by
inspiration of God. And all scripture is profitable
for doctrine, and for reproof, and for correction, and for instruction
in righteousness, that the man of God may be thoroughly furnished
unto all good works. Oh, it's not come by private
interpretation. The holy men of God wrote as
they were moved by the Spirit of God. I've got a word from
God. And I can hang the hopes of my
immortal soul on God's word. Now, I can't convince you that
the Bible is the word of God, but when God convinces you, you
know it is. You know it is and you know that
the Lord has shaken the foundations of the world just like he said
here and he showed, look at verse 3, he showed his people hard
things. The hard things of the gospel
and the hard things of the world. He's shown it. And had He not
shown us, we wouldn't see it. We'd be just like everybody else,
running to and fro, trying to figure out what's going on with
no clue and no hope, pretending that everything's well when it's
not. Thou hast given a banner to them
that fear thee that it may be displayed because of the truth. The truth. The banner of truth. The Lord Jesus Christ has been
given to his church. He's not given to the world.
God didn't give his son out there for the whole world. He gave
it to his people. He gave him for his church, for
his bride. The Lord Jesus Christ is not
desperately trying to get folks saved. He's already accomplished
that. He saved them. He put away their sins. And when
he ascended back into glory, he took with him the names of
those for whom he lived and died. My word. will not return unto
me void. It will accomplish the purpose
for which I sent it." And the Lord Jesus Christ, as the Word
of God, accomplished the purpose for which God sent him. And he
did not return back to heaven void. He's seated at the right
hand of God. And all the blessings of God
are in Christ in the heavenlies right now. And everyone for whom
Christ lived and died are seated with him right now. Someone says,
well, it's as if we were there, but we're really here. No, we're
really there. It's as if we were here. Now
that's the truth. That's the truth. We're really
there. There's our hope. Christ is our hope. He's our
life. There's no life outside. I have
given to her a banner of truth. Now, in Exodus Chapter 17, the
Amalekites, the children of Israel are going through Sinai. They're, you know, 40 years.
And the Amalekites, the enemies of Israel, are using guerrilla
warfare to pick off the weak and the old that are straggling
them behind. God tells Moses, get the people
together and you're gonna go against the Amalekites. And Moses
goes up on the mountain and Joshua takes the soldiers down into
the valley to fight against the Amalekites. And that's the story
where Moses' hands, the scripture says, became, as long as they
were lifted up, Israel got the victory and Moses' hands got
heavy and began to fall. And when they fell, the Amalekites
began to get the victory. And so Aaron and Hur came to
each side of Moses and held up his hands. And Israel got the victory over
the Amalekites but never ever completely destroyed them. Matter
of fact, at the end of Exodus chapter 17, The Lord says
to Moses and the children of Israel, the Amalekites are going
to be with you from generation to generation to generation to
generation. You're never going to be rid
of them. Now, the Amalekites are a picture
of your old man, my old man, and as much as we You know, the
more we grow in grace and the knowledge of Christ, the more
we see of our old man, don't we? And the heart of the struggle
gets in the hands. Now Moses pictures the law. Aaron pictures the Lord Jesus
Christ in his priestly ministry and hers name translated means
white, which is a picture of his holiness. Now the law's got
to be upheld. It's got to be upheld in order
for us to get the victory. But it's not up to us to keep
the law. How is the law upheld? The law is upheld because we
have a high priest who has already entered into the heavens and
he is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone that
believeth. And he's the one who through his holiness satisfied
the demands of God's righteous law. presented himself before
the father as the perfect holy one of Israel, the righteous
one. You see, when we try to get, and at the end of that story,
Moses called that place Jehovah Nisi. Translated means the Lord
is my banner. And as long as the Lord was my
banner going out. Look at the last verse of Psalm
60. Psalm 60 verse 12, through God
we shall do valiantly for he it is that shall tread down our
enemies. The battle is not yours. It's
the Lord's. Though we walk in the flesh,
we do not war after the flesh, for the weapons of our warfare
are not carnal. They are mighty through God to
the pulling down of strongholds and bringing into captivity every
imagination that lifts itself up against God to the obedience
of Christ. We walk in the Spirit, and in
walking in the Spirit, the Lord says, you shall not fulfill the
lust of the flesh. The only hope, you see, the strength
of sin is the law. And every time we go back, when
the hands of the law get heavy and they come down, we begin
to lose the victory, don't we? And when the Lord Jesus Christ
is upholding the law, the law's been satisfied. The law's been
the only thing that gives me any hope. It's not my struggle
with the law, but it's my struggle with faith. That's my struggle. Labor to enter into His rest. That's our struggle, isn't it?
Resting in the Lord Jesus Christ is our struggle, not fighting
the law, not trying to keep the law, The Lord Jesus Christ is
our banner. You see, Moses is the law. Christ is Aaron and her. It's not us keeping our hands
up in prayer. And as long as we're in prayer,
we're getting the victory. And when our hands get heavy
and we lose our strength, we lose our victory. No, it's Christ
upholding the law. in His holiness. You are not under the law, you're
under grace. The battle's not yours, it's
the Lord's and He's already gotten it. I'm going to give them a
banner of truth. You see, when we look out in
this world and we realize there's nothing there, it's all vanity. And then the Lord says, thou
hast given a banner to them that fear thee, that trust thee."
To fear God is to worship God. You remember Romans 5, 6 in that
while we were Yet, without strength, Christ died for the ungodly. That word ungodly doesn't mean
a person who's out there just indulging themselves in all the
pleasures of this world. It means the person who's not
able to worship God, who's not able to fear God, who's not able
to bow before God. And what the Lord does when he
saves us is he gives us a reverential fear of God, doesn't he? He causes
us to realize that I have no hope outside of Christ. All I
can do is bow before Him. And the word worship means to
lick like a dog. You have a dog that worships
you? I've got no use for any dog that doesn't worship me,
but that's the picture there, isn't it? Just excited and dependent. Thou hast given a banner to them
that fear thee, that it may be displayed. And that's what we've
been doing. That's what we do every time
we come together. We hold up the banner. Christ said, and
I, if I be lifted up, will draw men to me. We're displaying the
banner. Christ is our banner. He's the
one that got the victory. He's the one that kept the law. Verse 5, that thy beloved may
be delivered. Now this is a prayer of the Lord
Jesus Christ and God delivered his beloved son. He delivered
the Lord Jesus Christ from the grave. He raised him from the
dead because he was pleased and satisfied with everything the
Lord Jesus Christ accomplished. That's what the resurrection
is about. The resurrection is not just a historical event.
The resurrection is God saying, I'm satisfied with my son. I cannot allow my holy one to
see corruption. I am obligated to keep the covenant
that I made with him because he kept his part of the covenant
and I'm raising him from the dead and receiving him back into
glory. But this is also to be understood as the Lord Jesus
Christ praying for his church because everything Christ did,
his church did. We were in Christ. When He lived
a perfect life of righteousness, all of God's people were in Christ
and fulfilled the law. When He died on Calvary's cross,
all of God's people were in Christ and suffered the wrath of God
for their sin. When He rose from the grave,
all of God's people were in Christ. When He ascended back to glory,
all of God's people are in Christ. And so look at verse 5 again,
that thy beloved may be delivered save with thy right hand and
hear me." So here's the Lord Jesus Christ as our intercessor
praying for his bride. And he's saying, Father, you've
delivered them. You delivered me. You delivered
them. Save them. Save them. It's the same thing the Lord
Jesus Christ prayed in John chapter 17 in his high priestly prayer.
He said, I pray not for the world. I pray for them which thou hast
given me out of the world. Thine they were and thou gave
them unto me. Father, I pray that thou keep
them from the world and make them one with me. As thou hast loved me, so thou
hast loved them. God's only got one kind of love.
He's not like us. We love each person a little
different way, don't we? And we even use the word love
to describe the affection we have for inanimate objects. But
nevertheless, God's only got one kind of love. It's a holy
love. It's a perfect love. And he loves his children, his
people, the same way he loves his son. Hear me, hear me. Peter, the difference between
you and Judas is that I've prayed for you. I've prayed for you. And when you are converted, teach
the brethren. The Lord Jesus Christ, every
prayer ever prayed, the Father heard and answered it. Now he's praying for his church.
He says, save them with thy right hand and hear me. God hath spoken in his holiness. I will rejoice. I will divide
Shechem and meet out the valley of Sukkoth. Now Shechem and Sukkoth
were cities in Israel. And the Lord said, I'm going
to make a distinction between individuals. I'm going to save
every single one of my children. Not one's going to be left behind.
Gilead is mine and Manasseh is mine. Ephraim also is the strength
of my head. Judah is my lawgiver. These are
all tribes in Israel. And they're all picturing the
church. He said, these are the ones I've
come to save. Moab, on the other hand, is my
wash pot. Over Edom will I cast out my
shoe. Edom and Moab. The Edomites and
the Moabites, they're not mine. They're not mine. The Lord made
a distinction. But now, Philistia, that's all of Palestine. That's
all of Israel. Philistia, triumph thou because
of me. Because of me. I defeated the
Amalekites. I put away your sin. I killed
your old man. I upheld the law. My holiness
is what the father's looking to. And your victory is because
of me. It's because of me. Who will bring me into the strong
city? Who will lead me in to eat him? Well, if the strong
city there is a reference to that heavenly Jerusalem, the
Father brought him into that strong city. The Father received
him back into glory. Wilt not thou, O God, which hast
cast us off, and thou, O God, which didst not go out with our
armies, Lord, we went out in the world. We looked for some
meaning. We looked for substance. We looked for life. We looked
for truth. We couldn't find it. You weren't
with us. We were like Saul going against
all the enemies of God and being defeated at every turn. And now
you've raised up David. And he's our banner. And he's
gone before us. And he's gotten the victory.
Give us help from trouble. For vain is the help of man. Oh, my Lord, just impress out
on our hearts. Vain is the help of man. Are you a man? Yeah, you are. That means you can't help yourself. You can't help yourself. Vain
is the help of man. Lord, we try to fix all our problems
and there's nothing there. Lead us to the banner of truth. Truth. Truth about God. Truth of who He is and what He's
done. Truth about how it is that God
is pleased to save sinners through the sacrifice of His Son on Calvary's
cross. truth about the resurrection,
truth about life, truth about who we are, nothing but sin,
no righteousness whatsoever, no ability to save ourselves,
no ability to present anything before God. We can't trust our
conscience, we can't trust tradition, truth about the Word of God.
Lord, I believe, I believe everything you said. Through God, we shall do valiantly. Valiantly. I'm going to cling
to Christ. I'm going to look to Christ.
He's my victor. For He, it is, that shall tread
down our enemies. We're going to have any victory
over that old man, the Amalekites? He's going to have to do it.
All the unbelief. That poor man that said, Lord,
I believe help thou mine unbelief. As every believer's experienced,
Lord, I do believe. My new man believes you perfectly.
And my old man doesn't believe anything. Lord, I've got this
struggle. Save me. Save me. Save me from myself. Save me
from my sin. Save me from this world. There's
nothing here. Save me from death. Save me from that law that requires
absolute perfection. Silence the law. So that it can't
condemn me. Our merciful Heavenly Father.
Thank you. For that dear son, our banner
of truth. Lord, you get all the glory and
all the praise, all the honor. We ask it in Christ's name. Amen. Number 30, let's stand together.
? Glory, glory, I'm forgiven ?
All my sins are washed away ? Christ by his great blood atonement
? All my sin has put away ? Sin imputed my Savior when he died
upon the tree. As the substitute for sinners,
God will not impute to me. Glory, glory, I'm accepted, robed
in Christ's own righteousness. I'm a child and heir of heaven,
saved by God's almighty grace. Christ's obedience to The Father
is imputed now to me. In God's sight I'm pure and holy. He declares me so to be. Glory, glory, I'll not perish. In Christ's hands I am secure. He who saved me sure will keep
me. By God's grace I shall endure. This is not a vain presumption,
I just take him at his word. Christ has sworn they shall not
perish, who believe on me their Lord. th th
