That's good to see everybody. I pray that the Lord bless our
service tonight. Brother Henry, I told you before,
said, if the Lord doesn't bless these words, they may be true
words, but if God doesn't bless them, they're not gonna be a
blessing to God's people. I pray he bless this service.
I want you to take your Bibles and turn with me to the book
of Proverbs chapter 30. Proverbs chapter 30. Now while
you're turning there, I want you to remember that all scripture is given by inspiration of God. There is a purpose for all the
scripture. All the scripture glorifies Christ. All the scripture brings honor
unto the Son. And the scripture declares that
the Lord God Himself said, this is my beloved Son in whom I'm
well pleased. You hear Him. The Lord Jesus says these words. They are they that testify of
me. And this is what gives a believer
some comfort. We know where we're going. We're
going to Christ. But there are times when we read
certain passages of scripture. And upon first reading, there's
a question. Lord, I know this is concerning
you. I know this is concerning your
honor, your glory, your grace. Lord, would you do for me as
you did for your disciples and open our understanding. Open
our hearts. Proverbs chapter 30. This is what scripture says, verse
15 and 16. The horse leech has two daughters,
crying, give, give. There are three things that are
never satisfied. Yea, four things say not it is
enough. The grave, the barren womb, the
earth that is not filled with water, and the fire that saith
not It is enough. Now, when the Lord declared that all
scripture speaks of Him, that makes it so. These scriptures
speak of the glory of the Lord Jesus Christ. I want us to go back Let's go
back in our minds to the beginning, the beginning of creation. Whenever
the Lord God was pleased to call all things, everything, into
existence, the scripture came up with this, declared this conclusion
concerning the Lord's creation. 31. And God saw, now listen to these
words, everything. Everything that he had made,
and behold, it was very good. God made everything very good. Now we read that and we believe
that. God made everything and he made it very good. Everything was created according
to the scriptures. Good. And the reason that everything
that was created was good is because everything was created
by God. And God's good. And therefore, everything God
made was good. His glory was magnified in creation. His honor, His wisdom, and everything
that was created by God, created good, was for man's good, man's
sustenance. Everything that was made was
made for God's glory and man's good. That was the beginning. Hold your place here in Proverbs
and turn with me to Genesis 2, verse 8 and 9. Genesis 2. Verse
8 and 9. And the Lord God planted a garden
eastward in Eden. And there he put the man whom
he had formed, and out of the ground made the Lord God to grow
every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food,
tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of
knowledge of good and evil. God made everything good. Everything. Glorious. And everything that God made
that was good, it was enough. It was enough. God created, you
go through and read all the creation, everything that God made. He
made the birds, He made the four-footed beast, He made the insects, He
made everything. And everything was good. There was no lack. There was nothing that the Lord
failed to supply. But when man disobeyed God by one sin, one sin, by one man's
sin, Adam disobeyed God. And from that one sin, everything
that God had made in creation was tainted. The earth was cursed. Death was now found where death
had not been. Nothing created by God was the
same. Nothing was unaffected by man's
disobedience. Now we have disease, we have
decay, we have deterioration, things don't last, they just,
everything dies, the earth, everything, animal kingdom, plant kingdom,
nothing was unaffected, nothing was the same, and death was now
the result of what? One thing, sin. One man's disobedience. Death was the result. According
to man's dead heart, nothing then was ever enough for man. Nothing was enough. Nothing satisfied
him. And with that truth, I want us
to consider Something found in this passage that we looked at,
Proverbs chapter 30, verse 15, 16. And I want to just look at
that passage in proof of the result of man's fall. What happened in the fall? Man died. He died spiritually.
He's gonna die physically. The cause of disobedience before
man died, everything was paradise. But now, the Spirit of God has
moved upon a man named Solomon to write down these two verses
that we looked at. Something of the result of man's
fall. After I look at this fall, We'll
look secondly, after the effect of sin, I'm going to consider
the indescribable mercy of Almighty God in the remedy of what we're
seeing right now. Now, Solomon was moved to give
some examples. One writer said, and I'm inclined
to agree with him, I'm sure he said, he didn't list all of the
things that had been affected. individual thing that had been
affected. But he gave some examples of
some things that had been affected. The effect. And these words that
we read here in this passage of scriptures, we see the effect
of sin now upon God's creation. God created it good. Here's what the scripture has
to say. Now, this is the effect. I was
preparing this message, and preparing messages, there's, well, you
know, there's a lot of things that
you can see, and it always fits a pattern. You know, it's gotta
be this, this, this, and this, and it's always gonna come. the
glory of God, but sometimes the scripture leads you in a way
that doesn't always appear the way that would be the way you'd
have gotten to where you were going. This is one of those passages
for me. This passage of scripture starts
with the effect of what we all go through right now. The horse
leech had two daughters. That is the horse leech. It's a bug. I read up on it.
It's a blood sucker. That's what it is. Grabs hold
of an animal, hangs on to him, got these grippled teeth things,
and sucks blood and sucks blood and sucks blood and sucks blood
till it just can't suck no more. If you don't knock it off, it
just keeps sucking blood. The horse leech has two daughters. This leech produces like leech. It produces like. Like produces
like. Like man falling in Adam. Like
produces like. One, two dead sinners, man and
a woman. They have a child. They produce
a dead child spiritually. That's what it, like produces
like. But the horse leech has two daughters. Crying, this is
what they say. Give, give, give unto me. Give me more. I don't have enough. I'm not satisfied. Give me more. Crying, give, give. And there
are three things that are never satisfied, never satisfied, never
enough. Here's the examples given. Four
things say it's not enough. The grave. Men have been dying since men
were born. And have been buried since. Men
die. Funerals happening every day. And women are putting the ground.
Graveyards all over the place. They just keep dying and the
grave never says enough. The grave, the barren
womb of a woman that would desire children,
she's never satisfied unless she bears a child. The earth
that's filled with water. I was watching a documentary the
other day on the Colorado River. I was watching all that water.
I've never seen the Colorado River, but I've seen Mississippi. There's a lot of water. There's
a lot of water that comes out of New Orleans. And I'm thinking,
Where in the world, how did all that water get back? Well, you
can go into all of this about, you know, evaporation, condensation,
and its cycle. I understand it, but that's a
mystery. How that water just flows in
there and flows and flows and flows into the gulf, and it just
keep flowing. Never stops. The grave, The womb, the earth,
never filled with water. Oh, man is never satisfied. This earth, according to the
scriptures, isn't either. Bugs are never. Everything God
made failed in Adam's fault, affected by Adam and his disobedience. Never ending, continual, give
me. Give me. I gotta have more. I gotta have more. Man, I'm telling
you, I remember the first time I got, made $100. $100. I'd always said, man, if I could
make $100, I was mowing grass. I was kidding. Dollar and a half
a yard. Man, $100, you know how many
yards you gotta mow? I can't even multiply right now
to tell you what it is, I don't know. How many yards you gotta
mow if I could make $100? But you know when I got my $100?
You know what I wanted? I gotta have $200. Man, if I
could get some money, if I could just have some money. If I could
just get so-and-so, I'd have enough. I'd have enough, I'd
have enough. There ain't a person in this room that's got enough.
You say, oh yeah, I've got... No, you don't. No, you don't.
No, we're just fallen creatures of dust, and we're never satisfied. Never satisfied. Man is selfish,
he's self-centered, and the effect of sin upon man, God's creation,
is give. Give. Scripture says, again,
that last part, verse 15, never says it's enough. Never says
it. Oh, here we see by these examples
that nothing in nature, though created by the hand of Almighty
God, is satisfied with having enough. We just, we just got
to keep going. The blood from the leech, never
satisfied until he just, he'll bust before you quit. He'll die
before you quit sucking out of that animal. He'll latch on,
he'll suck until he's ready to burst. Oh, the cause of sin,
the grave. People still die. They still
die. There's people who died today.
gonna be buried. That barren woman, that earth
that's not filled with water, never says it's enough. Fire,
as long as there's something to burn, fire is not gonna stop. You get your fire going and get
your big old pile of brush, let it get good and dry, put you
enough fuel on top of it, set a match to it, It's gonna burn. You know how long it's gonna
burn? As long as there's something there to burn, it's never gonna
be satisfied. That's man. That's man. And looking
and seeing at these examples, you say, well, that's just an
example. That's just a bug. That's just a bug. That's just
a fire. That's just a woman without a
child. That's all that is, no. That's the spirit of God preaching. Telling men and women, man is
never satisfied. He's never satisfied. Nothing in this life is to the
carnal man enough. It's enough. I've had enough. Nothing. Why is that? Because of sin. We're selfish,
self-centered. We walk always in want, not in
need. My God shall supply all your
need, but man's wants. That's what he wants. I want
more. So in this life, there's never,
never enough. Never content with God's provision,
never content just to wait on the Lord, not even Our salvation. Man's never satisfied
to wait on God. By nature, he's not. I'm not
gonna wait on the Lord. What are you gonna do? I'm gonna earn
my righteousness. I'm gonna do something. Give me, give me. Oh, but with
this absolute truth, we're brought to this conclusion. We know what
man is by nature. He never says it's enough. Not man by nature. He never says
it's enough. What about the things of God? What about God's provision? What
about that which the Lord has provided? We read of the finished work. of the Lord Jesus Christ in our
redemption, the redemption of his people, the people loved
from before the foundation of the world. When our Lord went
to Calvary, when he laid down his life for the sheep, when he gave himself over into
the hands of sinful men, He bore all the iniquity of all
of His elect, where man by nature will say, it's not enough, it's
not enough. Give, the horse leech says, give,
give me more, give me more. Know what God's people say concerning
the redemptive work of the Lord Jesus Christ? It's enough. It's enough. And they get that
conclusion from the words of our Lord. When he hung on Calvary's
tree, John 19, 30, this is what he said. It is finished. It's finished. And God's people
rest in that glorious thought. Man by nature Religiously, he's
going to try to earn. I want you to hold your place.
I'll begin to wrap this up. Turn to Hebrews 10. Hebrews 10
verse 4. Man by nature, man is wanting to earn his own
righteousness. Man by nature is going to say
this, God's Word is not enough. We're going to have to do something
for God. God doesn't expect that we're
going to let Him do everything. I've heard somebody say that.
God doesn't expect that we're going to let Him do everything.
I beg your pardon. I'm so thankful that the Lord
God Himself finished the work. Hebrews chapter 10, starting
in verse 4. For it is not possible that the
blood of bulls and goats should take away sins. Wherefore, when
he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice an offering
thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me. In burnt
offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast no pleasure. Then said I, Lo, I come in the
volume of the book, it's written of me, to do thy will, O God. above when he said sacrifice
and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin, thou wouldest
not, neither hast thou pleasure therein, which are offered by
the Lord, I'm sorry, by the law. Then said he, lo, I come to do
thy will. O God, he taketh away the first
that he may establish the second, by the which we are sanctified
through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. Every priest standeth daily ministering,
offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take
away sins. Man by nature, man by nature,
religiously by nature, he goes through daily, his daily routine,
over and over and over, doing that which he thinks is earning
him a righteousness before God. It's never enough. It's never
enough, he says. I have to do more. I'm doing
all I can to earn my standing before God. I'm earning a righteousness
before God. Verse 12, but this man, after
he had offered One sacrifice for sin forever. Set down on
the right hand of God from henceforth expecting till his enemies be
made his foot suit. Or by one offering. He has perfected
forever. Them that are sanctified. By
one offering. The offering of himself. Here's
the conclusion. It's enough. It's enough. It's enough. And God's people,
they want to come together and they want to hear that truth
one more time. You tell me one more time it's
enough. Tell me one more time it's by grace that we're saved
through faith and that not of ourselves. You ever get tired
of hearing that? Not of ourselves. Lest any man
should boast. And that's what man's gonna do.
He's gonna think that he's done something. Everything in this
world, everything created by Almighty
God, that was good. It was created good according
to the word of the Lord. The scripture declares, because
of one man's sin, everything in creation is not enough. By the deeds of the law, of no
man be justified in his sight, but bless the Lord, there's one. There is one whom the Father
said, this is my beloved son, and whom I'm well pleased, hear
ye him. Concerning the Lord Jesus Christ,
the one in whom the Father is well pleased, It's enough. Let me tell y'all,
I'm gonna read this scripture that I've read so many times. This one scripture to me just
sums it up. One sacrifice for sin. One act. One eternal act of His
obedience which summarized His life. I do only always those
things that please the Father. He hath made Him, to be as in
italics, He hath made Him sin for us who knew no sin, that
we might be made the righteousness of God in Him. God Almighty provided
that which He demanded. He demanded righteousness. He demanded justice. justice, righteousness, are satisfied,
met in the person of the Lord Jesus Christ. You that know Him. Can you truthfully
say in your heart, I know you can, you that know Him, thanks
be unto God, Christ Jesus is enough for me. Leach, forgive. waters, the skies, everything
changes more, gotta have more. But this man, one act, one faithful, obedient act, by
one sacrifice for sins, he's perfected forever. Them that
are sanctified. I pray God bless this to our
hearts for Christ's sake.
