Alright brethren, let's turn
in our Bibles to Genesis chapter 8. Genesis chapter 8. Whether you're young or you're
old, there's one thing that always causes a flutter of excitement
for us all and that's when you look up in the sky and you see
the rainbow. How did the rainbow get there?
Who put the rainbow in the sky? And what's the purpose of the
rainbow? What does it mean? That's what
we find out today in our text. Let's begin reading in Genesis
chapter 8 and verse 20. It says, And Noah built an altar
unto the Lord. And he took of every clean beast
and of every clean fowl and offered burnt offerings on the altar.
And the Lord smelled a sweet savor. And the Lord said in his
heart, I will not again curse the ground anymore for man's
sake. For the imagination of man's
heart is evil from his youth. Neither will I again smite anymore
everything living as I have done. While the earth remaineth, seedtime
and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter and day
and night shall not cease. Now look to Genesis 9 and verse
8. And God spake unto Noah, God
spake unto Noah, and to his sons with him, with Noah, saying,
And I, behold, I establish my covenant with you, speaking to
Noah, and with your seed, with Noah's children after you, and
with every living creature that is with you, of the fowl, of
the cattle, and of every beast of the earth with you, from all
that go out of the ark to every beast of the earth. And I will
establish my covenant with you. Neither shall all flesh be cut
off any more by the waters of a flood, Neither shall there
any more be a flood to destroy the earth. Genesis 9, 12. And God said, this is the token
of the covenant. This is the token of the covenant
which I make between me and you and every living creature that
is with you for perpetual generations. Here's the token. I do set my
bow in the cloud. And it shall be for a token of
a covenant between me and the earth. And it shall come to pass
when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be
seen in the cloud. And I will remember my covenant,
which is between me and you, an ever-living creature of all
flesh, and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy
all flesh. And the bow shall be in the cloud,
And I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting
covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh
that is upon the earth. And God said unto Noah, This
is the token of the covenant which I have established between
me and all flesh that is upon the earth. So God made a covenant
with Noah. He made a covenant with Noah.
And God promised he would never again destroy this world with
a flood. Never again. And as a token of
God's covenant with Noah, he put the bow in the cloud. Now
the rainbow is therefore to be a perpetual reminder, a continual
reminder, as long as this earth remains, of God's everlasting
covenant. Each time you see that rainbow
in the cloud, There's three things to remember. When you look there
and you see that rainbow in the cloud concerning this earth and
the seasons and everything about this earth, there's three things
to remember. Number one, in verse 22, God
said, while the earth remains, seed time and harvest, cold and
heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.
And then God promises this in Genesis 9-11, neither shall all
flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood, Neither
shall there anymore be a flood to destroy the earth. He didn't
say that a flood wouldn't cut off some people, but he said
a flood won't cut off all flesh like it did before. And he said
there won't be a flood to destroy the earth anymore. Now that seals
that up. That ends all conversation about
that. The world's going to be here.
God's seasons are going to remain. Seed time and harvest, cold and
heat, day and night, summer and winter, the seasons are all going
to remain. God's promised it, and God's not going to destroy
this world with a flood. All right? There's much more
that's represented here, though. Much more that's represented
here. If that's all there was to it, it would have no bearing
on our soul. It would have no bearing spiritually
upon us. There's much more here. Everything... Remember Christ
said, Moses wrote of me. And everything Moses wrote, he
wrote this, recorded this for us. He wrote of Christ. Now here's
the main point we're going to see. The covenant that God made
with Noah, with the rainbow as a token, points to the everlasting
covenant of grace. The everlasting covenant of grace
that God made with Christ and that He made for His people in
Christ. This is a picture of the everlasting
covenant. Now, to begin with, we're going
to have to look at some things about this covenant before we
get to the rainbow. Now, the first thing we see here
is, in Noah, we see that Christ fulfilled all covenant obligations
toward God on behalf of his people. Look at verse, after the ark
bore the flood of God's justice. Genesis 8, 20 says, Noah built
an altar unto the Lord. And he took of every clean beast
and of every clean fowl and he offered burnt offerings on the
altar. And the Lord smelled a sweet
savor. Before the foundation of this
world, before God did anything else, God entered into covenant
with God. God the Father entered covenant
with God the Son. And God the Son promised to come
to this earth where we are and take flesh And God entrusted
the whole work of salvation, of saving His people, He trusted
that work into Christ's hand. And the Son of God came at the
time appointed and He took flesh. Now, Noah built an altar. Hebrews tells us Christ is our
altar. He's our altar. Noah made an
offering and a sacrifice. Hebrews tells us Christ is the
offering and the sacrifice. He made his soul an offering. He gave himself as a sacrifice
for his people. And the fire of God's justice
came down, that burnt offering. When they would build an altar
and they would put a burnt offering on it, it was the fire that came
down from God that consumed the sacrifice. Well, that's a picture
of God's justice. Him pouring out justice upon
the Lord Jesus Christ. But instead of the fire consuming
Christ, Christ consumed the fire. So that there's no more fire
toward God's people. because Christ consumed it. He
satisfied divine justice in the room instead of his people. And
in Christ's one offering, God smelled a sweet smell. He smelled a sweet savor. That one man God, the God-man,
was representing all His people when He obeyed God until the
death of the cross and He made full satisfaction of God on behalf
of His people. That's why we read in Ephesians
5. I want you to look at this, Ephesians 5. I want you to see
this. You just read there that Noah
offered those things and God smelled a sweet savor. Now look
at Ephesians 5 and look at verse Verse 2. It says there, "...walk in love,
as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us,
an offering and a sacrifice to God, for a sweet-smelling savour."
Now that's what's pictured there in that burnt offering that Noah
made. Christ is the altar, Christ is the sacrifice, and He satisfied
God by His offering. So in Noah's sacrifice, when
we see that blood sacrifice, we see a picture of Christ. We
see the Lamb of God, the altar of God. And for His sake, not
for our sake, for His sake, not by our merits, for His merits,
God will not curse His people. He will not curse his people.
He told Noah in Genesis 8, 21. He says, The Lord smelled a sweet
savor, and the Lord said in his heart, I will not again curse
the ground any more for man's sake, for the imagination of
his heart is evil from his youth. I won't again smite any more
every living thing as I've done. And God blessed Noah and his
son. Now be sure to get this. This
is a blessing. This is a wonderful comfort to
God's people. In His everlasting covenant of
grace, God didn't leave, He did not leave anything in the hands
of His people. Nothing. Nothing. There's nothing
there for you and I to do to establish this covenant. You
see there? God established the covenant.
He said there repeatedly, I established this covenant. I established
this covenant. When Adam failed to fulfill all
his covenant obligations in the garden, You and I failed to fulfill
all our covenant obligations because that was the covenant
of works. We failed. Christ came and He
fulfilled all covenant obligations for His people. That's what we read. Listen to
this. Ephesians 1-2 says this. He did it that we should be to
the praise of His glory, to the praise of God's glory who first
trusted Christ. God trusted Christ. He trusted
the whole work into His hands. Alright, now secondly, the everlasting
covenant of grace is made from God the Father to Christ. You know, Christ made a covenant
with the Father and He fulfilled it. He came and fulfilled all
those covenant obligations. That was what we just looked
at. And then when He did that, God the Father fulfilled all
His covenant obligations to Christ. He made His covenant with Christ. With Christ, the head of His
people. And it's to Christ's seed. Through those God chose
and put in Christ. But we're only blessed with Christ. We're only blessed in Christ.
We're only blessed by Christ. The covenant blessing goes to
Christ. and to those that are in Christ. Now look here, we
see this typified in Genesis 9, verses 8 and 9. God spake
unto Noah. You see that? This is the whole
time God's speaking to Noah. That's who He's speaking to.
And He spoke to His sons with Him. We might say in Him. As he spoke to Noah, he was speaking
to his sons. But he was speaking to Noah.
That's who he was speaking with. And he said, I behold, I establish
my covenant with you. With you. And with your seed. Not just all children, your children. Your seed. after you. That's what he said. So having
received his sacrifice, God received Christ's sacrifice. God received
Christ's offering. And so God established his covenant
with the Lord Jesus Christ. Just like he received Noah's
offering and he established his covenant with Noah. Noah is the
head of the house. Christ is the head of the house.
Noah represented his sons. Christ represents all his sons.
And God made the covenant with Christ. So it's, so Christ's
seed, you and I who believe, that's who we are, we're Christ's
seed. We're blessed with Christ. The sons of Noah were blessed
with Noah. When God blessed Noah, he blessed
his sons. When God blessed Christ, he blessed
all his seed with him. Listen to the scripture. Ephesians
1, 3 says, Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus
Christ. who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly
places in Christ. in Christ according as He chose
us in Him before the foundation of the world that we should be
holy and without blame before Him in love. And then it says
in verse 7, in whom we have redemption through His blood the forgiveness
of sins according to the riches of His grace. And then it says
in verse 11, in whom also we've obtained an inheritance being
predestinated according to the purpose of Him that works all
things after the counsel of His own will that we should be to
the praise of God's glory who first trusted Christ. You see
that we have all covenant blessings were given us in Christ. It was ratified by redemption
by Christ and it was given to us by the Holy Spirit in our
hearts through Christ so that we have obtained this inheritance.
That's a blessing to helpless sinners. Are you helpless? Do
you see that you can't do one thing to please God? You can't
do anything to bring yourself to God. If you see that, you
know that about yourself by God's grace, this is a wonderful, wonderful
declaration of good news. Because God's declaring, sinner,
I haven't left anything in your hand. Christ has done it all. It's a covenant of pure grace.
It means it's ordered in all things and it's made sure in
Christ from eternity. Listen to 2 Timothy 1.9. I want
you to jot these scriptures down, look these scriptures up. 2 Timothy
1.9 says, God had saved us and called us with a holy calling,
not according to our works, but according to His own purpose
and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world
began, ordered and sure in all things in Christ in eternity.
It's a covenant that was ratified in Christ's blood. Hebrews 13.20
says this. The God of peace brought again
from the dead our Lord Jesus Christ, that great shepherd of
the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant. God, that's what the cross is
about. The cross is Christ fulfilling
the covenant toward God. And the resurrection is God fulfilling
the covenant toward Christ. It's through the blood of that
everlasting covenant. And it's a covenant that's established
and sealed in our hearts by the Holy Spirit in regeneration through
God-given faith. Listen to Ephesians 1.13. It
says, In whom you also trusted. God trusted him before the foundation
of the world. And in Christ you also trusted
after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation.
God sent somebody to you today preaching the Gospel. Do you
hear it? Do you believe Him? Do you trust Him? Some of you
here have heard the Gospel, and by God's grace, you believe on
it. And He said, and after that you heard this Gospel, after
that you believe, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise. And that Holy Spirit of promise
is the earnest. It's the down payment. It's the
guarantee of our inheritance until Christ comes back and redeems
to Himself that possession that He's purchased by His blood,
all His people. All His people. So that's the
first thing we see. Christ fulfilled all this covenant
toward God. The second thing we see in this
is God the Father fulfilled His covenant towards Christ. And
we get in on it in Christ. Only in Christ. By God blessing
His people in Christ. Of God are you in Christ. Who
of God is made unto us wisdom and righteousness and sanctification
and redemption. It's all of God. All of God.
Now here's the third thing. What is God's everlasting covenant
promise? What is His promise to you and
me who believe? What's His promise that He makes
here in His everlasting covenant? Look at what, Genesis 9-11. It
says, God promised Noah, I will establish my covenant with you.
Neither shall all flesh be cut off anymore by the waters of
a flood. It won't be cut off. Neither
shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth. Now turn
to Isaiah 54, and I'm going to show you what that typifies.
God said, I'm going to establish my covenant with you. He established
it with Christ, and He promised Christ that there will be no
cutting off any more of His people. Here's what we see. Isaiah 54. Hold your place there in Isaiah.
We're going to come back not to Isaiah, but pretty close to
it. Here we go. Isaiah 54, 7. This
is God's everlasting covenant of grace to Christ and to all
those that God calls to faith in Christ. This is His covenant
to Christ and to all who God calls to faith in Christ. Listen
to this. Verse 7. For a small moment have I forsaken
thee. We saw it last week. When did
He forsake me? He had to forsake us. If He's
going to save us, He had to forsake us. If He's going to save you
and me, give us eternal life, we had to die first. Because
we offended God's justice. The soul that sinneth must die.
When did He forsake us? When God forsook Christ on that
cross. He forsook all who were in Christ. And because Christ
satisfied divine justice, because he declared God is the just and
the justifier of his people. This is what God said, verse
7. I cut you off for a moment, but with great mercies will I
gather thee. In a little wrath I hid my face
from thee for a moment, but with everlasting kindness. With everlasting
kindness will I have mercy on thee, saith the Lord thy Redeemer. Verse 9, For this is as the waters
of Noah unto me. For as I have sworn that the
waters of Noah should no more go over the earth, so have I
sworn that I would not be wroth with thee nor rebuke thee. For
the mountains shall depart and the hills be removed, but my
kindness shall not depart from thee. Neither shall the covenant
of my peace be removed, saith the Lord that has mercy on thee. You remember what that dove brought
back to Noah? That dove that Noah sent out,
you know, when she came back That first time she just came
back, that next time she came, remember where she came from?
She came with an olive leaf. That's a picture of peace. When
Christ sends forth the Holy Spirit, like a dove, and it descends
into our hearts, the Holy Spirit comes into our hearts, bearing
good news of peace. Peace accomplished by Christ
for His people, so that God says, I'll never cut you off again.
This is the everlasting covenant of grace. God says it's a covenant
of unchangeable promise. It cannot be changed. It cannot
be altered. It's a covenant which doesn't
demand anything of us, but Christ has done it all. That's why it
can't be altered. It's written in Christ's blood. It cannot
be altered. Remember when Christ was on the
cross, we read in Psalms, He said, Thine arrows stick fast
in me. He bore the arrows of divine
justice. for his people. And he said,
Thine arrows stick fast in me. You look up there at that rainbow.
You don't see the rainbow pointed at you. You just imagine that
is an archer's bow. You don't see it pointed at you.
You see it pointed up. And you don't see a string on
it and you don't see an arrow in it. It's empty. Why? Christ bore the arrow of divine
justice. And so God says to his people,
I won't ever cut you off. Sinner, do you hear that? Do
you hear God's promise? I mean, you'd have to be just
hard-hearted. Just hard-hearted and say, I'm
not going to believe God to forsake that kind of mercy. To forsake
God saying, I've done it all. But when God speaks in grace
and power in the heart, He breaks that stony heart. He makes you
come powering to God saying, Lord, this is the best news I
ever heard in my life. Best news I ever heard. You know,
when I first heard the story of God putting the rainbow in
the sky, I was probably five or six years old. And I read
it, and I just believed God. That settled it for me. I believed
God put the rainbow in the sky. Isn't it something when you're
a child, you just believe what you read? And when you get older,
we call it getting smart. We call it wising up. You don't
believe God anymore. How wise is that? How smart is
that? Hard hearted, hard in sin and just won't believe God anymore.
Won't believe. God says, come to me like a little
child. Come to me just like a little
child and believe on me and you'll find out every word God says
is true. You'll find out every word God
says is true. Alright, now let me show you this fourth thing.
How can I be sure that this covenant is from everlasting to everlasting?
Well, God's given us a token to assure us. Genesis 9-12. Genesis
9-12. God said, this is the token of
the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature
that is with you. That word living is important.
You see, when God made this covenant with Christ, He raised Him from
the dead. He raised all His people in Him. He raised us to the right
hand of the Father when He raised Christ. And when He makes this
covenant in our hearts, He doesn't make it with dead sinners. He
makes it with those that the Spirit's made alive. Alive with
every living creation that He's created. That's who He makes
it with. And so he says this, now this covenant, this token
of this covenant, this rainbow, is for perpetual covenant, for
perpetual generations, as long as this earth remains, that's
what it's there for. Now our assurance is threefold.
Here's the first thing, verse 13. He says, I do set my bow
in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between
me and the earth. There's our first assurance.
The rainbow is God's token that He won't ever destroy this earth
with a flood. But for us who believe, it's
a picture of that everlasting covenant of grace. And here's
our token. Here's our token. Just like God
has set the rainbow in the clouds, God has set Christ Jesus, His
Son, at His right hand in the heavens. And the Scripture says
this, He was delivered for our offenses and He was raised again
for our justification. He was raised again for our assurance. He was raised again to declare
to you and I who believe that this thing settled. God satisfied. It settled. God has set Him in
the heavens. Listen to Isaiah 49.8. He said, Thus saith the
Lord, In an acceptable time have I heard thee. Christ cried out,
my God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? But in Psalm 69,
He said, in an acceptable time, hear me. And God said, in an
acceptable time, I heard you. When justice was satisfied, I
heard you. I heard you. And He said, and
in the day of salvation, I help thee, and I'll preserve thee,
Now listen to this. And he's speaking to Christ.
I'll give you, my son, the Lord Jesus Christ, for a covenant. I'll give you for a covenant
of the people to establish the earth. To establish the earth. God said, I'm going to set this
bow in the heavens and as a token to you that the earth is established. It's not going to be destroyed
with a flood. God said, I'm setting Christ in my throne, at my right
hand, and He's the covenant assuring you that you'll not be cut off. That's the assurance. You'll
not be cut off. So that's our first assurance.
The everlasting covenant of grace is assured to us because God
the Father set Christ in the heavens. And then secondly, God
says this, Genesis 9, 14. Here's our assurance. Genesis
9, 14. And it shall come to pass when
I bring a cloud over the earth, when I bring a cloud over the
earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud. The rainbow
is the shining of the sun's beams. That's what the rainbow is. It's
the shining of the sun's beams. And the rainbow is only seen
against the dark backdrop of a cloud. That's the only way
you see the rainbow. It's the shining of the sun's
beams and it's seen in the dark backdrop of a cloud. And that
cloud was put there on purpose by God so you could see the rainbow. So you could see the sun shining
in the rainbow. That's why it was put there.
Well, likewise, Christ is the glory of God shining. Just like the rainbow is the
glory of the sun's shining, Christ is the glory of God shining.
And God's glory in Christ is seen only against the backdrop
of sin. That's where you see God's glory
shining in Christ, against that dark backdrop of sin. And that
dark backdrop of sin was put there on purpose by God just
so you can see His glory in Christ in saving His people. Sin didn't
enter this world by accident. That cloud you see in the sky,
it's not there by accident. God put it there. And sin entered
this world He gave the devil his reign to enter in to the
garden to tempt Eve and then Adam sinned and sin entered in
that Christ, He might send forth His Son and save His people from
our sin. So we behold His glory. Turn
to Ezekiel 1. Ezekiel chapter 1. Remember what
Paul said? Paul said we see the light of
the knowledge of the glory of God. in the face of Christ Jesus. We see the light of the knowledge
of the glory of God in the face of Christ Jesus. Now, Ezekiel
was shown God's throne. He saw God's throne. And when
he saw God's throne, he saw God's glory. And when he saw it, he saw it
as the appearance of a man in the throne. That's what Ezekiel
saw. That man is the God-man. That
man is the Lord Jesus Christ. That's where we see God's glory
in the Lord Jesus Christ. In the midst of his throne, risen,
victorious. Now, from the man's loins upward
and downward, here's how Ezekiel saw him. This is what he looked
like. This man who is the glory of God in the throne of God. This is how he appeared. Ezekiel
1.28. as the appearance of the bow
that is in the cloud in the day of rain. So was the appearance
of the brightness round about. This was the appearance of the
likeness of the glory of the Lord. Paul said, we see the light
of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ
Jesus. That's who Ezekiel saw and he
saw him as the appearance of a rainbow. the brightness of
God's glory. Look at Revelation 10. Christ
is the bow God has set in the heavens in God's throne. And
we see His glory, that He's overcome the dark cloud of sin for us. We see it against that dark backdrop. This is why John described Christ's
appearance this way. He saw Christ's appearance. Revelation
10 verse 1. I saw another mighty angel come
down from heaven, clothed with a cloud, and a rainbow was upon
his head, and his face was as it were the sun, and his feet
as pillars of fire." There's our assurance, brethren. The
glory of God, the glory of God assures us this thing will never
be changed. Christ has established, and we
seek God's glory in the face of Christ, and there He sits
on God's throne whose appearance is as the rainbow in the cloud,
who is the brightness of God's glory. So if God changes anything,
if He loses one for whom Christ died, if He doesn't preserve
the believer, if He loses one, God's glory is at stake. That's
an assurance, brethren. We see it in the fact that Christ
overcame sin. God said, when you see that rainbow
in the cloud, you're going to know. And when you see Christ
overcoming that cloud of sin set down in the throne of God,
you see God's glory and you're assured this thing won't be changed. It won't be changed. So our assurance
first is that Christ is risen. Our assurance secondly is He's
the glory of God. He's overcome sin and we behold
God shining in the Lord Jesus Christ. We see His glory. And
here's the third assurance. And this is our chief assurance
right here. This is our chief assurance that this thing is
settled right here for every believer. It's not our beholding
Christ. It's God beholding Christ. Look
here, verse 16. Genesis 9, 16. Genesis 9, 16.
And the bow shall be in the cloud. I will look upon it, God said,
that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every
living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth. Remember
what the Lord Jesus said? I mean, what God said on the
night of the Passover? When I see the blood. When I
see the blood. You see, you and I We have this
little dim faith and we behold Christ and we rest in Christ,
we trust Christ, but it's so little our faith is. And what
if you and I, what if you get Alzheimer's and you don't even
know who you are, much less who Christ is? But our hope is this, God sees
him, God sees the blood. God sees the blood. It's settled.
And He remembers His everlasting covenant. Now turn one more time
to Revelation. Revelation 4. I should have told
you to stay there. Revelation 4. If we didn't have Christ between
us and God the Father... If we didn't have Christ between
us and God the Father... You see, when God said there,
He put, picture it this way. God put that rainbow in the sky.
That rainbow is between God and us. And God said, and I'm going
to look on that rainbow. I'm not looking at you, God said.
I'm looking at the rainbow. And I'm going to remember my
covenant when I look at that rainbow. You see, if there wasn't
Christ between God and His people, God would consume us in His justice. There's no way we could appease
that justice. We have to have this rainbow of grace, this covenant,
Christ our covenant, between us and God. Now let me show you
something here. Look what John saw between us
and God's throne. Revelation 4, 2. Immediately
I was in the Spirit, and behold, a throne was set in heaven, and
one sat on the throne. And he that sat was to look upon
like a jasper and a sardine stone. And there was a rainbow round
about the throne in sight like unto an emerald. Now if that
rainbow is round about the throne, that rainbow is between us and
that one sitting on the throne. Right? That rainbow's a picture
of Christ. Christ is our covenant round
about the throne. Just like that rainbow's around
the throne, Christ, our covenant, is ever before God. He's ever
before God. He's ever living to make intercession
for us. And therefore, Scripture says
God will be ever mindful of His covenant. Be ever mindful of
His covenant. With Christ our covenant surrounding
the throne, God's preserving and governing the world for the
sake of those He's covenanted to have to save in Christ. He
said, we know all things work together for good to them who
are the called, to them who love God, to them who are the called
according to His purpose. He's doing it all because of
Christ for the covenant sake. And it means there's a way to
God. It means there's a way to God. New and living way to God.
We can come to God. And you look up in that sky and
you see the rainbow. It has seven colors. Seven is
the number of perfection. And this thing is ordered and
sure in all things. It is settled in Christ. Nothing
can be added to it. Nothing can be taken away from
it. It is unchangeable. But you know, when He looked
and saw the rainbow, it was the color of an emerald. It was green. Green is the color of life. God
has given us life and this life is in His Son. Christ is the
life. He is the life. Sinner, come to Christ. Believe
on Christ. Trust Christ. Cast yourself on
His mercy and God will save you. And believer, listen to this.
When you look at that rainbow, you remember this. Every event
in this world, everything God's doing, whether it's using princes
and kings and monarchs and nations, whatever it is, big and small,
everything's working in this world for God's elect and for
God's elect only. Everything. Everything God's
doing. And they got to be saved, every
one of them, and they shall be, and will not want to be lost.
So next time you see that rainbow in the sky, look beyond that
rainbow to Christ, our bow in the heavens. Look to Christ,
our covenant in the throne of God. And remember this, all the
promises of God are in Him, yes, and in Him, amen, to the glory
of God. And that'll make you say, He
made with me an everlasting covenant. It's ordered in all things and
sure. This is all my salvation, all my desire. What else? What else could you
add to that? I hear men say Christ is not
all. David said He was. He made with
me an everlasting covenant. It's ordered in all things and
sure. This is all my salvation. All my desire. Christ my salvation. Amen. Let's stand together, brethren. Father, we thank you so much
for Christ our Lord. Thank you, Father, for trusting
him to do this whole work. Thank you for showing us how
you fulfill your covenant to him. Thank you, Lord, that you've
put your people in Christ and sealed us there and that you've
made it known in the hearts of so many and you'll continue to
do so. Lord, you won't change it, you
won't alter it. Thank you, Father, that this
thing is settled. What peace and comfort you've given our
hearts. Lord, we pray that you would make this covenant in the
hearts of one of your lost sheep that they might see and rejoice
with us. Lord, we thank you for this place. Thank you for your
gospel. We thank you, Father, that you continually send us
the truth and continually bless us with your word from above.
Make us hear it. Make us delight in it. Make us
rejoice. Keep us by it, Lord. We thank you. Father, we pray
for those that are sick and hurt in some way. Pray, Lord, that
you'll bless them and keep them. And Lord, we pray for those who
can't be with us, that you'd bring them back safely another
day. Forgive us, Father, of our sins. Forgive us doubting and
not trusting you. Lord, how could we ever doubt?
Help our unbelief, Father. We ask all these blessings in
Christ's name. Amen.
