The scripture that I'll bring
before you this morning is found in that chapter that we read.
Exodus chapter 17 and verse 15. Exodus 17 verse 15. And Moses
built an altar and called the name of it Jehovah-Nissi. And Moses built an altar and
called the name of it Jehovah-Nissi. Now there are three great gospel
lessons in this chapter. In the first part of the chapter
we read of the rock smitten and of the water that flowed from
the rock quenching the thirst of the thirsty children of Israel. The congregation of Israel, according
to the commandment of the Lord, had pitched in rephidim and there
was no water for the people to drink. We read that the people
did chide with Moses and said, give us water that we may drink.
Then in verse 3, and the people thirsted therefore water, and
the people murmured against Moses. Now after Moses cried, to the
Lord, he is told by the Lord, to take his rod and to smite
the rock in Horeb. Verse 5. And the Lord said unto
Moses, Go on before the people, and take with thee of the elders
of Israel, and thy rod, wherewith thou smotest the river, take
in thine hand, and go. Behold, I will stand before thee
there upon the rock in Horeb, and thou shalt smite the rock.
and there shall come water out of it that the people may drink.
And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel. Now surely this was a type of
the Christ who was to come. Paul says, writing to the Corinthians,
Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant how
that all our fathers were under the cloud and all passed through
the sea and were all baptized into Moses in the cloud and in
the sea and did all eat the same spiritual meat and did all drink
the same spiritual drink for they drank of that spiritual
rock that followed them and that rock was Christ and that rock
was Christ. Just as that rock in Horeb was
smitten with the rod of Moses, so Christ was smitten with the
rod of God's justice. He was smitten that thirsty sinners
might drink and live And so it was prophesied in the Old Testament
Scriptures, for example in Isaiah 43 verse 19, Behold, I will do
a new thing, now it shall spring forth, shall ye not know it?
I will even make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the
desert, that the beast of the field shall
honour me. the dragons and the owls, because I give waters in
the wilderness and rivers in the desert to give drink to my
people, my chosen. Again in the next chapter in
Isaiah, Isaiah 44 verse 3. For I will pour water upon him
that is thirsty and floods upon the dry ground. I will pour my
spirit upon thy seed and my blessing upon thine offspring. These scriptures
were fulfilled in the New Testament. This is that living water that
was promised to the woman of Samaria. Jesus answered and said unto
her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith
to thee, Give me to drink, thou wouldest have asked of him, and
he would have given thee living water. Again Jesus said to her,
there in John 4, but whosoever drinketh of the water that I
shall give him shall never thirst, but the water that I shall give
him shall be in him a well of water, springing up into everlasting
life." There is in the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ a gracious
invitation to any and to every poor and needy sinner any and
every thirsty sinner, to come to the Rock of Ages, who was
smitten for the sins of his people, to drink and to live. If any man thirst, let him come
unto me and drink," Jesus said. And almost at the conclusion
of the whole of the Scriptures, in Revelation 22, we read, "...and
the Spirit and the Bride say, Come, And let him that heareth
say, Come! And let him that is athirst,
Come! And whosoever will, let him take
the water of life freely. Well, this is the first great
Gospel lesson then, in this chapter. Christ is that rock smitten,
the source of salvation and eternal life. And then, in verses 8 to
14, we have the second great gospel lesson. There was a battle
between the Amalekites and the children of Israel in Rephidim.
Moses takes the rod of God in his hand and he goes with Aaron
and her up to the top of the hill. We read verse 11 And it
came to pass, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed. And when he let down his hand,
Amalek prevailed. But Moses' hands were heavy,
and they took a stone and put it under him. And he sat thereon,
and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side
and the other on the other side, and his hands were steady until
the going down of the sun. And so the Israelites led by
Joshua, were granted a great victory. And Joshua discomfited
Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword. Here is another
type of the Christ who was to come. The Lord Jesus Christ stands
on the Mount Zion, the holy hill of Zion, as the prophet, priest
and king of his people. having finished the work which
the Father gave him to do, having accomplished the everlasting
salvation of his elect by dying for them on the cross, he is
now risen from the dead and ascended up into heaven where he ever
liveth to make intercession for them." The lifting up of the
hands signifies prayer. I will therefore that men pray
everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting."
Paul writes to Timothy. The lifting up of the hands signifies
prayer. And here we see Moses then, as
a type of the Lord Jesus Christ, interceding for his people. I pray for them, Jesus said. I pray not for the world, but
for them which thou hast given me." Ah, but see how much greater
Christ is than Moses! Our Jesus needs none to hold
up His hands. He fainteth not, neither is weary. Indeed, the Scriptures speak
of Christ as upholding all things by the word of His power. He needs none to hold up his
hands. The church militant is now involved
in a spiritual battle. We often speak of the church
militant and the church triumphant, don't we? The church triumphant
is made up of the Lord's people, those of the Lord's people who
have fought a good fight who have finished their course and
who have kept the faith. They have entered in through
the gates into the celestial city and to them is granted a
triple crown which the Pope of Rome can never wear. A crown of righteousness, a crown
of glory and a crown of life. Ah, the church militant though,
The church militant is still in this world, fighting the good
fight of faith. Now, the word militant is very
interesting. It comes from the Old French,
meaning fighting. And the Old French word has its
origins in the Latin, meaning serving as a soldier. The church
militant is involved in a spiritual warfare, a spiritual battle. Doesn't Paul say that in Ephesians?
Ephesians 6 verse 12. For we wrestle not against flesh
and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers
of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness
in high places. The warfare is spiritual, it's
not carnal. Spiritual. And so the weaponry is spiritual. 2 Corinthians 10 verse 3. For though we walk in the flesh,
we do not war after the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare
are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds,
casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalted
itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity
every thought, to the obedience of Christ. Paul writes to Timothy,
he says, Thou therefore endure hardness as a good soldier of
Jesus Christ. No man that woreth entangleth
himself with the affairs of this life that he may please him who
hath chosen him to be a soldier. The Lord's people are chosen
to be soldiers. This is the church militant.
Oh, but how can poor, weak, sinful creatures ever prevail against
such mighty spiritual foes? How could those Israelites, those
poor, weak, struggling Israelites, lately freed from Egyptian bondage,
ever prevail against the Amalekites, the descendants of the grandson
of Esau? Well, as the children of Israel
prevailed when Moses lifted up his hands, so the Lord's people
now only prevail by the intercession of Christ for them. What the
Lord said to Peter, He says to all his dear blood-bought people,
But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not. But I have prayed for thee, that
thy faith fail not. And so victory is assured to
every one of God's elect, because the Lord Jesus Christ ever liveth
to make intercession for them. He holds up his nail-pierced
hands, and he says, Father, I will, that they also whom thou hast
given me be with me where I am. that they may behold my glory."
Our God's elect can never fail, as the hymn writer says. They
can never fail with an intercession like this. Wherefore, he is able
also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, for
he ever liveth to make intercession for them. And so Paul says again in Romans,
it is Christ that died, yea rather that is risen again, who is even
at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for
us, who shall separate us from the love of Christ, shall tribulation,
or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril,
or sword, As it is written, for thy sake we are killed all the
day long, we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay,
in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that
loved us. Well this then is the second
great gospel lesson in this chapter. We are led by the Holy Spirit
to see Jesus and his intercession at the right hand of the Father
for all the church militant. The third great lesson that we
have in this chapter is in the words of our text. And Moses
built an altar and called the name of it Jehovah-Nissi. The children of Israel had prevailed
against the Amalekites. They were granted that great
victory, as we read in verse 13, and Joshua discomfited Amalek
and his people with the edge of the sword. And then we see
Moses giving unto the Lord the glory due unto his name. Jehovah Nisai means the Lord
my banner. The Lord my banner. He gives
unto the Lord the glory due unto his name. The Lord had given
the victory. The Lord had commanded the deliverance.
The Lord must have the glory. As it is written in the Psalms,
not unto us, O Lord, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory
for thy mercy and for thy truth's sake. Wherefore should the heathen
say, Where is now their God? But our God is in the heavens.
He hath done whatsoever he hath pleased. And so we read here,
And Moses built an altar, and called the name of it Jehovah-Nissi,
the Lord my banner. Well let us press on to consider
the banner. as in the two previous great
gospel lessons in this chapter, where we see Christ, well so
in this third great gospel lesson, which is in this chapter, we
see the Lord Jesus Christ. Firstly then, we note that the
Lord Jesus Christ is, as it were, a banner to his people. Indeed,
he is the banner of his people. He is Jehovah-Nissi. It is written
in the Prophets concerning the Messiah, and in that day there
shall be a root of Jesse which shall stand for an ensign of
the people. To it shall the Gentiles seek,
and his rest shall be glorious. Now the word there translated
ensign in Isaiah 11 verse 12 is the same as that we have in
our text nisai translated banner in the margin. The Lord Jesus
Christ stands as an ensign or banner of the people, the apostle
Paul refers to that scripture, doesn't he, in Romans 15 verse
12, where he says, And again, Esaias saith, There shall be
a root of Jesse, and he that shall rise to reign over the
Gentiles, in him shall the Gentiles trust. Here is Christ, then,
in his kingly office. He that shall rise to reign over
the Gentiles. All those who are under this
ensign, under this banner, are the blessed subjects of King
Jesus. He has conquered them by his
love, and he reigns in them by his grace. And secondly, we note
that banners are raised in times of war. And so we read again
in Isaiah, "...when the enemy shall come in like a flood, the
Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him, and
the Redeemer shall come to Zion and unto them that turn from
transgression in Jacob, saith the Lord." In this holy warfare in which
the church militant is engaged, Jesus our Redeemer is the standard,
or the banner, raised up against the enemy. Now consider the enemy
for a moment. Henry Law describes the enemy
of God's people like this. He says, "...are not God's children met
by an Amalek who neither dies nor sleeps nor spares nor pities. This foe is Satan. His might
is such that it nears the confines of omniscience. His skill is
sharpened by observance of every heart in every clime and every
age. His wrath is barbed by knowing
that his time is short. His hope is plumed by slaughtered
millions beneath his feet. He assails each inlet of each
sense. He raises barriers before the
throne of grace. no knee e'er bows, but his shaft
flies. He aims at every worshipper in
every pew, at every hand which takes the sacramental food, at
every tongue which tells of Jesus' love, at every eye which sheds
the tear of penitence. Yes, such is our great adversary
the devil. remember his name Satan means
adversary and of course he's not alone he's not alone there
are his allies the world is on his side and we know that we
are of God and the whole world lieth in wickedness John says
Paul refers to Satan as the God of this world the world with
its smiles and pretended love, as well as its hatred, is on
the side of the devil. The world, with all its attractions
and allurements and offers of an easy life, is on the side
of the devil. The world, with all its lies
and half-truths and science falsely so-called, is on the side of
the devil. Again John says, Love not the
world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man
love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all
that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of
the eyes and the pride of life is not of the Father, but is
of the world. And the world passeth away, and
the lust thereof. But he that doeth the will of
God abideth forever. The other great ally, which our
adversary has, is the flesh, our fallen nature, the body of
this death, as Paul calls it. This is the traitor within. The
fifth column. That expression, the fifth column,
comes apparently from 1936 Spain. The nationalists marched against
Madrid with four columns of troops led by General Moeller. And Moeller
declared in a radio broadcast that he had a fifth column within
the city. Those who are sympathetic to
the nationalist cause. Well, so it is in the believer.
There is that fifth column, which is sympathetic to the cause of
sin and Satan. It loves this present evil world. It loves all the things of time
and sense. Why this fallen nature, which
we all have inherited from our first parents, is even opposed
to our own salvation. It's a traitor! Who can stand against such forces
as these? Our only hope is in the Redeemer,
the Christ of God. When the enemy shall come in
like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard
against him, and the Redeemer shall come to Zion. And unto
them that turn from transgression in Jacob saith the Lord." Oh,
this was Moses' hope. This was Moses' confidence. And the Lord said unto Moses,
Write this for a memorial in a book, and rehearse it in the
ears of Joshua. For I, mark the words, I will
utterly put out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven.
And Moses built an altar and called the name of it Jehovah-Nissi.
For he said, because the Lord hath sworn that the Lord will
have war with Amalek from generation to generation. The battle is
not ours, it's the Lord's. Oh, the Lord God Himself has
declared war on Amalek, and the Lord God Himself will secure
the victory. We are more than conquerors through
Him that loved us. Our Lord Jesus Christ, Jehovah-Nissi,
the Lord, my banner. Thirdly, the banner is a rallying
point for an army, is it not? As the old particular Baptist,
Benjamin Keech, says, the soldiery repaired to the standard of their
general, where they are secure, is written of Shiloh, which is
Christ, in the book of Genesis. And unto him shall the gathering
of the people be. The Lord Jesus Christ is that
one to whom all the elect of God are gathered. Behold, I have
given him for a witness to the people, a leader and commander
to the people. Behold, thou shalt call a nation
that thou knowest not, and nations that knew not thee shall run
unto thee." We read in Isaiah, the Lord Jesus Christ is that
leader and commander to which the soldiery, those who are called
to be soldiers, repair. Now see how this banner was unfurled
at the cross. Jesus said, and I, if I be lifted
up from the earth, will draw all men unto me. This he said,
signifying what death he should die. It is the spirit of the
Lord who has lifted up this standard against the enemy. The sinless
human nature of the Lord Jesus Christ was conceived in the womb
of a virgin by the Holy Ghost. You remember the words of the
angel to Mary. And the angel answered and said unto her, The
Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the highest
shall overshadow thee. Therefore also that holy thing
which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God. It
was through the eternal spirit, as Paul tells us in Hebrews,
that Christ offered himself without spot to God. In Romans, we're
told that the Lord Jesus Christ was declared to be the Son of
God with power according to the spirit of holiness by the resurrection
from the dead. And Peter tells us that he was
put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the spirit. quickened by the Spirit, it is
the Spirit of the Lord who has raised up this standard against
the enemy, as he promised in the Old Testament Scriptures.
And the very same Spirit of the Lord, who raised up the standard,
calls and draws men to that standard. And I, if I be lifted up from
the earth, will draw all men unto me. the word men we should
note in that scripture in John 12 32 is in italics literally
that verse reads and I if I be lifted up from the earth will
draw all unto me Christ draws by his spirit all
who are given to him by the father in the eternal covenant and none
can come to Christ except they be drawn you know the scripture
in John 6 44 no man can come to me except the father which
hath sent me draw him and I will raise him up at the last day
the father draws sinners to the son by the spirit The Father
draws, the Son draws, they draw by the Holy Spirit who eternally
proceeds from the Father and the Son, graciously working in
the hearts of all the beloved of God called to be saints. And
it is to Christ that they are drawn. Not to a church, not to
a denomination, not to a preacher, it's to Christ that they are
drawn. He is that standard lifted up
by the Spirit of the Lord, the leader and commander of the people. Unto him shall the gathering
of the people be Jehovah-Nissi, the Lord, my banner. And we note
in the fourth place that a banner is to be displayed. Well, so
it is with this banner. Psalm 60 verse 4, Thou hast given
a banner to them that fear thee, that it may be displayed because
of the truth. Selah. Well, how then is this
banner displayed? Well, it's displayed in the preaching
or the proclamation of the Gospel. In the preaching of the Gospel
of the Lord Jesus Christ, the banner is displayed. Christ is
displayed in the preaching of the Gospel. Three times in the
Corinthian epistles, Paul says that he preached Christ, but
we preach Christ crucified. 1 Corinthians 1.23 For I determined
not to know anything among you, save Jesus Christ, and Him crucified. 1 Corinthians 2.2 For we preach
not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord. 2 Corinthians 4.5 in
the preaching of the gospel is the setting forth of the unsearchable
riches of Christ. To the Ephesians Paul writes,
unto me who am less than the least of all saints is this grace
given that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable
riches of Christ. You know the epistle to the Galatians was not written to a single church,
it was written to a number of churches. It's addressed unto
the churches of Galatia. Galatia was a part of Asia Minor,
now Turkey. In the third chapter of that
epistle, Paul writes, O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched
you that ye should not obey the truth before whose eyes Jesus
Christ hath been evidently set forth crucified among you? Well, how had Jesus Christ been
evidently set forth crucified among these Gentiles? Well, it
was by the preaching of the Gospel. Paul goes on to say there in
Galatians 3, This only would I learn of you, received ye the
Spirit by the works of the law or by the hearing of faith. There was the hearing of faith.
And how shall they hear without a preacher? It was by the preaching
of the Gospel. that the banner was displayed.
But you know, the banner is not only displayed by the ministers
of the Word, the preachers of the Gospel. It's displayed in
the life of every true believer. But we all, with open face, beholding
as in a glass, the glory of the Lord, are changed. into the same
image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord. The Spirit of the Lord lifts
up the standard in every believer's heart and the banner is displayed. Christ is to be seen. The Spirit
of God works that change in a believer. As our articles clearly state,
we believe that the grace of God produces a real change in
a man. It is to this end that we are
predestinated. Romans 8.29, for whom he did
foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image
of his son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. For the more closely we follow
the Lord Jesus Christ, the more clearly will the banner be seen. May it be the constant prayer
of all those who profess the name of Christ, that Jehovah-Nissi,
the Lord my banner, might be displayed in me and by me. The Lord my banner. The Lord my banner. In the fifth
place, consider what hope, what courage, what zeal is inspired
in the soldier's breast by the sight of his banner. In all our
difficulties, in all our trials, in all our afflictions, in all
our temptations, as the battle rages around us and within us,
what we need above all things is a sight by faith of Jehovah-Nissi,
the Lord, my banner. lose sight of Jesus and his cross,
and soon we fall a prey. Our lust and pride by power or
craft will carry us away, but when by faith the cross we view,
such is its mighty power, though earth and hell unite with sin,
we conquer and adore." Oh, do you feel your weakness? Do you
feel your spiritual weakness? You have not the power to resist,
the strength to fight. Behold your banner. Look to Jesus. He is the strength of Israel. We are more than conquerors through
him that loved us. Hear his voice in the prophets. look unto me and be ye saved
all the ends of the earth for I am God and there is none else
oh in your felt weakness look to him trust ye in the Lord forever
for in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength. In the Lord Jehovah
is everlasting strength. In the Revelation we read of
the redeemed and their accuser, Satan. We read, and they overcame
him by their own strength, by their own efforts, by their own
works. No! No, no, no! And they overcame him by the
blood of the Lamb! Look to Him then in all your
weakness and you will soon be able to say with the Apostle,
I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. Perhaps you're afraid. Afraid
of that which is happening in the world at the present time.
Afraid for the future. Afraid of the enemy. Of death. of your own sinful heart say to them that are of a fearful
heart be strong fear not behold your God will come with vengeance
even God with a recompense he will come and save you he will
come and save you see the banner Jehovah Nissi look to Jesus he
will come and save you It is written in the Psalms, in Psalm
34, I sought the Lord and he heard
me and delivered me from all my fears. They looked unto him
and were lightened and their faces were not ashamed. This
poor man cried and the Lord heard him and saved him out of all
his troubles. The angel of the Lord encampeth
round about them that fear him and delivereth them. O taste
and see that the Lord is good, blessed is the man that trusteth
in him. You feel your ignorance, your
lack of wisdom, your spiritual poverty. Well remember Paul's
preaching, he preached among the Gentiles the unsearchable
riches of Christ. In Colossians he speaks of Christ
in whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. Oh,
he is made unto us wisdom and righteousness and sanctification
and redemption. There is in the Lord Jesus Christ
everything that a poor, spiritually poor, sinner can need. I love that hymn of Gadsby, it's
number 667 in the hymn book. My every need he richly will
supply, Nor will his mercy ever let me die. In him there dwells
a treasure all divine, And matchless grace has made that treasure
mine. O behold your banner, Jehovah-Nissi,
Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us, wisdom and righteousness
and sanctification and redemption. Sixthly, a banner speaks of victory. You know, When one army defeats
another army in battle, or when one nation conquers another nation
in war, flags are raised in victory. When men first went to the South
Pole, and to the top of Mount Everest, and to the Moon, flags
were raised in each of those places. Why? Well, to show that
man had, as it were, conquered each of those extreme places. The flag, or the banner, is a
symbol of victory. Now consider what a victory Christ
has wrought for his people. A victory over sin and Satan,
over death and the grave, a victory over hell and all the forces
of hell. It is all comprehended in that
prophecy of Isaiah, He will swallow up death in victory. He will swallow up death in victory. And so the Apostle says, O death,
where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin, and
the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God which giveth
us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. oh well might the
children of God rejoice in Christ Jesus Jehovah Nissi the Lord
my banner victory is on our side we are on the side of the victor be of good cheer I have overcome
the world Jesus said. Seventhly and by way of conclusion
let us just consider for a few moments the altar Jehovah Nissi
was the name given to the altar by Moses following the victory
over the Amalekites. And Moses built an altar and
called the name of it Jehovah Nissi. What was the altar for? Well, surely it was to offer
up sacrifices to God who had delivered the children of Israel
from the Amalekites. Well, the Lord Jesus Christ is
our altar. Paul says in Hebrews, we have
an altar whereof they have no right to eat which serve the
tabernacle and he goes on to say there in Hebrews 13 by him
therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually
that is the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name but
to do good and to communicate forget not for with such sacrifices
God is well pleased or Christ is our water. Christ is our water
by whom we approach unto God and through whom we offer up
our spiritual sacrifices of thanksgiving and praise to that God who has
granted such a deliverance for us a deliverance from the world,
sin, Satan, death and hell. Now thanks be unto God which
always causes us to triumph in Christ. The banner is displayed
in the praises of the Lord's blood-bought people. As the psalmist
says, And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto
our God. Many shall see it, and fear,
and shall trust in the Lord. Oh, no wonder the enemy wants
to silence the preaching of the gospel and the praises of the
Lord's people. But you know, the Lord has so
dealt with us that we cannot keep quiet. Psalm 30 verse 11,
Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing. Thou hast put off
my sackcloth and girded me with gladness to the end that my glory
may sing praise to Thee and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will
give thanks unto Thee forever. The mouth of the wicked The tongues
of the ungodly shall shortly be silenced, but the mouth of
them that speak lies shall be stopped. Psalm 63. Not so the tongue of the righteous.
I will give thanks unto thee forever. I will give thanks unto
thee forever. Christ is our altar. Jehovah-Nissi,
by Him we offer up our sacrifices of thanksgiving and praise to
God continually. It is written in Isaiah, this
people have I formed for myself, they shall show forth my praise. They shall show forth my praise. Again the psalmist says, by the
Spirit of God, let the high praises of God be in their mouth. Let the high praises of God be
in their mouth. Isaiah says, Sing unto the Lord,
for he hath done excellent things. This is known in all the earth.
Try out and shout, thou inhabitant of Zion. Nothing here about singing
quietly into your hymn book, no. Try out and shout, thou inhabitant
of Zion, for great is the Holy One of Israel in the midst of
thee. The Lord's people are a praying people, they are a persevering
people, and they are a praising people. Now thanks be unto God,
which always causeth us to triumph in Christ. All the Lord bless
his word to each one of us, and grant that we each one might
know and see by faith Jehovah Nissi, the Lord my banner, even
Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come. And Moses
built an altar and called the name of it Jehovah-Nissi. Amen.
