John

In the sermon "The Servant's Love," Eric Lutter explores the theological significance of Christ's humility and love demonstrated through the act of washing the disciples' feet, as depicted in John 13:1-10. Lutter emphasizes four key points: the certainty of Christ's identity and authority, His profound humility in serving, the depth of His condescension to become the atoning sacrifice for sinners, and the pivotal truth that without His sacrificial blood, there is no salvation. Scriptural references, including John 17:4 and Colossians 1:21-22, underscore the fullness of Christ's love and the necessity of His work for salvation. The practical significance of this message is that believers are reminded of their secure identity in Christ as His chosen people, cherished and redeemed, encouraging them to trust wholly in His grace for salvation and ongoing sanctification.

Let's begin our second service
by standing and singing Rock of Ages, 126 Rock of Ages. Pardon? It's your phone. What happened? It said Bixby.
Oh, it did. Dumb thing. I thought I closed
it. Rock of Ages, cleft for me. Let me hide myself in thee. Let the water and the blood from
thy wounded side which flowed be of sin the double cure. Save from wrath and make me pure. Could my tears forever flow? Could my zeal no longer know? These for sin could not atone. Thou must save and thou alone. In my hand no price I bring. Simply to thy cross I cling. ? While I draw this fleeting
breath ? ? When my eyes shall close in death ? ? When I rise
to worlds unknown ? ? And behold thee on thy throne ? ? Rock of
ages, cleft for me ? ? Let me hide myself in thee ? Thank you. I'm gonna read Psalm 138 Psalm chapter 138 I Will praise thee with my whole
heart before the gods I will sing praise unto thee I Will
worship toward thy holy temple and praise thy name for thy loving
kindness and for thy truth. For thou hast magnified thy word
above all thy name. In the day when I cried, thou
answeredest me and strengthenedest me with strength in my soul. All the kings of the earth shall
praise thee, O Lord. when they hear the words of thy
mouth. Yea, they shall sing in the ways of the Lord, for great
is the glory of the Lord. Though the Lord be high, yet
hath he respect unto the lowly, but the proud he knoweth afar
off. Though I walk in the midst of
trouble, thou wilt revive me. Thou shalt stretch forth thine
hand against the wrath of mine enemies. and thy right hand shall
save me. The Lord will perfect that which
concerneth me, thy mercy, O Lord, into earth forever, forsaken
not the works of thine own hands. Let's pray. Father, we come to you this morning
thankful for this passage of scripture. And Father, that you
be high, that you have respect unto the lowly Father, Because
we are definitely the lowly, and Father, without you, we have
no hope. And that you took yourself from
on high, and you lowered yourself down to our level, Father, to
be able to come to Earth as a man. do what needed to be done live
a perfect life and then die for your for your people and father
we're thankful that that you did that and that you sent your
son to do that and father we just ask that you watch over
us this morning as the message is being preached we ask that
you open our eyes and our hearts and father we ask you that you
give our pastor the words that you'd have us to hear and Father
we just ask that you watch over and care for us all in Christ's
name Let's sing 56 I am his and he
is mine 56 I ? With everlasting love ? Led by
grace that love to know ? Spirit breathing from above ? Thou has
taught me it is so O this full and perfect peace O this transport
all divine In a love which cannot cease I am His and He is mine
In a love which cannot cease I am His and He is mine. Heaven above is softer blue. Earth around is sweeter green. Something lives in every hue. Christless eyes have never seen. Birds with gladder songs o'erflow,
flowers with deeper beauty shine. Since I know, as now I know,
I am His and He is mine. Since I know, as now I know,
I am his and he is mine. Things that once were wild alarms
cannot now disturb my rest. Closed in everlasting arms, pillowed
on the loving breast, Oh, to lie forever here, doubt and care
and self-resign. While he whispers in my ear,
I am his and he is mine. While he whispers in my ear,
I am His and He is mine, is forever only His, who the Lord in me
shall part. Ah, with what a rest of bliss
Christ can fill the loving heart, Heaven and earth may fade and
flee, Firstborn light in gloom decline, But while God and I
shall be, I am His and He is mine. But while God and I shall
be, I am His and He is mine. Thank you. Alright brethren, let's turn
to John chapter 13. I want to look at verses 1-10
this morning. Here we view the humility and
the love of our Lord when He humbled Himself in coming and
doing the Father's will as the Servant. as the one who came
and redeemed his people from their sins. We learn four very,
very important truths here from our passage today. We see first
the undying humility of our Lord for his people in serving the
Lord in serving his Father for his people. Second, we see this
humble work which he does is wrought by his undying love for
his own people. The third thing we're shown here
is a picture, a picture of just how low our Lord condescended,
how low he brought himself to accomplish our redemption. And then fourth, we're taught
that without this sin atoning sacrifice by Christ, except you
be brought under the blood of Christ, you cannot be saved. There is no atonement. There
is no salvation outside of the blood of Christ. I titled our
message, The Servants' Love. The Servants' Love. So let's
begin in verses 2 through 5. Let's read 2 through 5 together.
And suffer, being ended, the devil having now put into the
heart of Judas Iscariot. Simon's son, to betray him, Jesus
knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and
that he was come from God and went to God. He riseth from supper,
and laid aside his garments, and took a towel, and girded
himself. After that he poureth water into
a basin, and began to wash the disciples' feet and to wipe them
with the towel wherewith he was girded." So the first thing that
we notice here is the certainty of all things that are written
concerning our Lord and Savior. We're told that Jesus knew. Jesus knew. He knew that the
work which he was sent to accomplish was finished. All things were
set according to God's will and plan to be accomplished in the
Son. And all authority and power was
given to the Son. It says there in verse 3, Jesus
knowing that the Father had given all things into his hand. He knew he was come from God.
He knew he was going to God. Nothing was going to change that
fact in any way. Nothing was going to alter it. It's similar to what our Lord
prayed when he was in the garden, lifting up his high priestly
prayer for his people. And he said to the Father in
John 17, four, I have glorified thee on the earth. I have finished
the work which thou gavest me to do. He said that not having
gone to the cross yet, not having borne the sin of his people. That would occur the next day
when hanging on the tree, bearing the sin of his people under the
wrath of God to pay the penalty of God's holy justice against
himself for the people. Then, he said, he cried, it is
finished. and he bowed his head and gave
up the ghost." John 19 verse 30. So there's no doubt that
the will and the purpose of our God is known unto the Son. He knows because he's sovereign. Nebuchadnezzar, being recorded
by Daniel in Daniel 4.35, said, He doeth according to his will
in the army of heaven and among the inhabitants of the earth,
and none can stay his hand or say unto him, What doest thou? So why is this something worthy
of our notice? Why am I taking this time to
spell these things out when there's so many beautiful illustrations
that are given to us in this passage? I was thinking about
that, and I suppose that I was affected where it says, Jesus
knowing that the Father had given all things into his hand, Jesus
knowing that he was come from God and went to God, already
knowing that this was a done deal. There was nothing more
to be added. Nothing could be taken away from
our salvation. In that truth, in that light,
we're told in verses four and five, he riseth from supper and
laid aside his garments and took a towel and girded himself. After
that, he poureth water into a basin and began to wash the disciples'
feet and to wash them and to wipe them with the towel wherewith
he was girded. And so that shows us this valuable
picture of what the Lord was going to do in accomplishing
the salvation of his people in his flesh on the cross. He fulfilled this picture and
gave this to his disciples to know what he was about to accomplish
for them. The act of washing the disciples'
feet was done, and everything to accomplish the salvation of
his people by the sacrifice of himself was put into place. Nothing was going to alter that
fact. And rather than reclining and getting his rest and taking
his ease for what was about to come, Even then, his heart was
yet set on serving his people and instructing them and teaching
them and giving them all things, all comfort, all joy in their
Lord and Savior. Knowing that everything was done
and nothing was gonna change that fact, he was going to the
cross and he was going to accomplish their salvation, yet our Lord
stooped even lower. and did that servant's task,
the lowest servant's task of washing the feet of his disciples. And it was a demonstration of
what he was about to accomplish for his people in washing away
their sins, in the putting away of their filth by their nature
and redeeming them by the death of himself. What a Lord we serve,
and what a gracious God and Savior we know. How faithful he is that
he wouldn't even stop short of doing this work, knowing everything
was done. Yet he still fulfilled this low,
menial task, if you will, for his disciples. And it confirms
to us that word which he said, and lo, I am with you always,
even unto the end of the world. Amen. I believe him. What he
says he'll do, he does. And he doesn't stop short. He
doesn't cut it short and pull up and say, well, maybe I won't
do this thing. They'll understand after. No,
he stooped down and washed their feet. We see his faithfulness
to do all things for his people. And that brings us to the second
point. Not only do we see the humility of our Lord, but we
see his love for his own, for his own people. Let's read verse
one now. John 13 verse one says, now,
before the feast of the Passover. So this didn't happen on the
night that the Lord instituted the Lord's Supper. This isn't
after the Passover, it's before the Passover meal. When Jesus
knew that his hour was come, that he should depart out of
this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the
world, he loved them unto the end. And so the reason why our
Lord didn't even think of laying aside this beautiful picture
of his humility, of his service for his people, how that he came
as the servant of God to fulfill and work all things necessary
for his people, we see in addition to that his love for his own
disciples, for his own people. He loved them unto the end. Through the whole thing, He never
pulled up. He never served Himself. He never
did that which pleased Himself. He did that which pleased the
Father and provided everything for your learning, for your benefit,
for your good, for your instruction, for your health and happiness
in Him. To know Him and what He has done
for you, to know His love for you. Three things I want to show
you in this, our second point of Christ loving his own. Three
things we're going to see here. First, he loved his own. The words his own here describe
that you, his people, are his own possession. You're his people. You're His own people. Out of
all the other peoples, you are His own people. You are a chosen people, chosen
by the Son sovereignly. You're a given people. The Father
chose you and gave you to Christ, and Christ chose you and said,
yes, I love them. I'll do this work for them. I'll
redeem them and make them mine. You are a betrothed people. A people that you are the bride
of Christ. You shall marry the bridegroom.
You are his bride. You are his possession. You are
a purchased people, bought with the precious blood of the Lamb,
the Son of God. His own here, these words describing
his own, having loved his own, signify that you are a peculiar
people, a special people. chosen of the Lord, you're precious
to your God. Not simply that description of
the Jews, the nation of the Jews, who were his own in a national
sense, but when he came to his own, they received him not. Not that type of, in a national
sense, you are his people, who are his by possession. You are
his own people. Peter describes that nation that
rejected Christ as, in 1 Peter 2, 8, when he said that Christ
was made a stumbling, a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense,
even to them which stumble at the word being disobedient, whereunto
they also were appointed. They were appointed to that disobedience. But you that believe, you believe
because you are beloved of the Lord. All men have not faith. Yet you have faith, and you believe
your Savior. You believe the Word of your
God. You trust the Word of your God. You have no other hope,
no other confidence, but the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ,
so that you are beloved of your God, beloved of the Father, beloved
of the Son, beloved of the Holy Ghost, who chose you and provided
everything for your salvation. for your deliverance from death,
to give you life in the sun, so that Peter's words in 1 Peter
2 verses 9 and 10 describe you as a chosen generation, a royal
priesthood, and holy nation. a peculiar people, that ye should
show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness
into his marvelous light, which in time past were not a people,
but are now the people of God, which had not obtained mercy,
but now have obtained mercy. your peculiar people, a chosen
people, beloved of your God. The second thing we see in our
Savior's love is that he loved his own which were in the world. The Lord's people are sinners
saved. polluted by the filth in this
world, the filth of sin in this world. We fell in Adam. We became
defiled and corrupted, fallen in our nature. Our nature was
defiled. It's dust, and it can work no
good or righteousness for itself. But Christ is come, being sent
to the Father. He is come, and by Him we are
saved, being born again, born anew, being given a new nature
from the seed of Christ, by the seed of Christ, whereby you live
again spiritually, knowing your God, walking in the light and
the grace of our Savior. We follow Him. We trust Him. We believe Him. He's all our
salvation, all our hope. Yet in this life we go through
struggles, we go through difficulties, we interact with people like
ourselves that trouble us and harm us and we find ourselves
doing things back to them that we would not do. We're surrounded
with sin and idolatry, we experience sickness, We experience loss
and disappointments and sadness and sorrows and diseases and
troubles of all manner of things. We get panicked and worried and
scared and moved off of our spot. We go through times when we're
arrogant and proud and lifted up and Think of ourselves too
highly than we ought to think? Things that now when we think
of them and recall them, we're ashamed and we blush to think
of the things that we've said and did and thought in our hearts
and minds. We forget our God's promises. We forget his word. And we go
through times of cold, indifference, and we do foolish things, and
we think foolish thoughts, but our Lord's affection for us,
His love for you never changes. It never alters. It never wavers
the way our love wavers for Him. His love for us never wavers
so that He retrieves us, and He restores us, And He gives
us health again, and He cleanses us of our sins, because He loved
His own which were in the world. He knows that we are but dust.
and that we're not saving ourselves, and it's not by the strength
of our hands holding on to him, but by his grace holding you
and keeping you. And the third thing we see is
that he loved them unto the end. And this means that he, through
every trial, through every burden he bore of his people, Through
every disease and sickness, every sin, every stroke that God laid
upon him, for your sakes, he loves you. And that love did
not change. When he took every beating, his
love for you was not altered or changed or diminished. He
didn't ask, why am I doing this? He loves you, His people, from
eternity. You're His beloved, peculiar
people. Love beareth all things. Love believeth all things. Love
hopeth all things. It endureth all things. Love
never faileth. It never fell. And we see that
perfectly in the Lord Jesus Christ for you. For you. And so we love Him because He
first loved us. Our Lord has His eye fixed on
you, His bride. You're His beloved, precious
bride. And His eye is single upon you. And His love and care for you
is unwavering. Unwavering. Ephesians 5, 25-27
Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church
and gave himself for it, that he might sanctify and cleanse
it with the washing of water by the word, that he might present
it to himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or
any such thing, but that it should be holy and without blemish. And so he's keeping you. He's
your righteousness. He's not letting you go. Now
the third thing that we're shown in this passage, this is our
third point here. It's a picture of just how low
our Lord and Savior brought himself, how low he condescended to serve
his people when he became our sin atoning sacrifice. Let's go through verse 4 and
5 because this is where that picture is detailed for us. We'll just take it phrase by
phrase. It says at the beginning of verse 4, He riseth from supper. He riseth from supper. And the
picture here is one of the eternal Son of God. who dwells in the
bosom of the Father. He rises up from eternal satisfaction,
eternal contentment, And He laid aside His garments. He laid aside, your Lord and
Savior laid aside His heavenly glory, His heavenly garment of
glory, eternal glory and power in the Godhead. And He took a
towel and girded Himself. he took a towel and girded himself,
something far less glorious than his heavenly garment of glory,
praise, and honor, so that he became flesh, and not just any
flesh, not the flesh of kings, and of princes, and of rulers,
and mighty men. He didn't take on the flesh of
a scholar, And a Pharisee, or a doctor, or a lawyer, or a scribe,
he took the lowest form of a servant. He came as a nobody, and was
despised by the establishment, despised by the wealthy, and
the rich, and the elite, and the powerful, because he didn't
come to them. And he didn't make himself one
of them, but he made himself low, a servant. that he might
serve his people to obtain their eternal redemption. In our kitchen, Michelle and
I, we have some towels in a drawer. And we set out our nice towels. We have some newer towels. They're
pretty clean. They stay clean. The white stays
white and the red is pretty solid red and unworn. And those are
the towels that we take out and we lay them over our stove's
handle. And so when we wash our dishes
and our hands are clean and wet, we just shake them off and then
we turn and we rub our wet, clean hands on that towel. But when
Michelle is cooking, What she does is if there's a spill of
some splatter of grease that's gotten darkened because it's
used, or we spill coffee or something like that, or make a mess, or
there's just some grease that we want to clean out, we don't
use the nice hand towels. we get out these other towels
that we have, these little towels that are scraggly and scrawny. They're weak and they're raggedy.
Some of them have holes. Some of them have little holes
of threads in them. And that's what we use to wipe
up that dirty mess. And sometimes if I see a mess
on the floor, I take that towel and just drop it on the floor.
And I take my foot and I put it on that towel. and I just
rub that mess up off the floor. And then I kick it aside, and
if another mess comes up during the day, I'll go over, I'll grab
that towel again, I'll slide it across the floor, and I'll
wipe up another mess and kick it aside until I'm ready to take
it to the laundry room, and there it'll lay until it's time to
clean up those filthy, dirty towels. Well, our Lord laid aside
his heavenly garments of glory and he took a towel. And he girded
himself with that towel to serve his father's will and purpose
to wipe up. the stain of our sin, to put
away our mess, to put away our filth, and to clean that up,
wiping away the sin of his people. That's how he came. In the flesh,
in the form of a servant, the equivalent of a towel. And then
it says in verse 5, after that he poureth water into a basin,
so that here your Savior who loves you. Here he makes himself
the offering to his Father, putting himself in our place, putting
himself in our pit, in the basin of our pit, bearing our load
of guilt and sin and condemnation, bearing that shame and suffering
for our sins, being made a curse for us. being made a curse for
us. In Psalm 22 verses 14 and 15,
I found this description that meets this well. He poured water
into the basin. He says there, I am poured out
like water, and all my bones are out of joint. My heart is
like wax, it is melted in the midst of my bowels. My strength
is dried up like a potsherd, and my tongue cleaveth to my
jaws. And thou has brought me into
the dust of death. Our savior poured water into
the basin, he poured himself. into that basin. He took our
place as our substitute. And the text says there, he began
to wash the disciples' feet. He cleansed the feet of his disciples,
washing from us the picture of him washing away the stain of
our sin, the filth of our sin, the worst of the worst. He cleansed
us of our filth, and our rot, and our decay, and our vile ways. Every path these feet trod, every
way of death that we went, our Savior laid down His life to
deliver us from that way of death. And He wiped them clean with
the towel wherewith He was girded. So that we see our Savior, His
precious life, come in the flesh as the Lamb of God, to put away
our sin, to put away our filth, to put away all that is vile
and corrupt and wicked in us, to put away all our stain and
all our filth and all our sin, to make an atonement for our
sins by the death and sacrifice of Himself. Our Lord says in
Isaiah 42.1, Behold My servant. Look to my servant, whom I uphold,
mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth. I have put my spirit upon him. He shall bring forth judgment
to the Gentiles. So that by the grace of our God
now. because of Christ, what he has
done for Christ's sake. He's brought forth light and
salvation to our hearts to make us to know what he has done for
his people, that he has accomplished the work. The stain of sin, the
filth of sin, it's put away by the death of himself. He's wiped
it all clean so that we are now white. and pure and spotless
and blameless before our God because of the righteousness
of your Savior Jesus Christ, so that we're cleansed from our
sins. We're wiped clean by the Lord. We live by His grace. Now fourth, and this is our final
point, without the sin-atoning sacrifice, Without the blood
of Christ washing away your sins, you cannot be saved. There is no other salvation.
Let's read verses 6 through 10. John 13, 6 through 10. Then cometh
Christ to Simon Peter, and Simon saith unto him, Lord, dost thou
wash my feet? Jesus answered and said unto
him, What I do thou knowest not now, but thou shalt know hereafter. We see the redemption of our
Lord, what He accomplished in the washing away of our sins
by the death of Himself. We understand now. that which
Peter doesn't understand. As Peter's looking at his Lord
saying, Lord, you're taking the lowest place. You're taking the
place of a servant, Lord, to wash my feet. Lord, that's not
your place. That's not for you to do. But
that's what our Lord did for his people on the cross. He took
the lowest place to bear our sins, to purge us of our sins,
to deliver us from our sins. Peter saith unto him, thou shalt
never wash my feet. And there are people who say,
you'll never do this for me. I'm going to save myself. I'm
going to do my own works. I got myself into this mess.
I'll get myself out of this mess. And Jesus answered him, and to
anyone who thinks that they can save themselves, if I wash thee
not, thou hast no part with me. Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord,
he got it then, Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands
and my head. And Jesus saith to him, he that
is washed needeth not save to wash his feet. but is clean every
wit, and ye are clean, but not all. So our Lord gave his life
for all his sheep, and he says none of them is lost, but the
son of perdition that the scripture might be fulfilled. But the points
here are that apart from the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ,
Apart from us being delivered from that false, dead, vain religion
that thinks we contribute something to our salvation and that we
must do something to earn God's favor. The point is that without
Christ and without Christ alone, you cannot be saved. If Christ
doesn't wash us, then we shall not be clean and we shall die
in our sins. Our Lord is teaching us that
there is salvation in none other. There is none other name under
heaven given among men whereby we must be saved. That includes your name. There's
none other. We can't look to another God
or another salvation, even ourselves. Christ alone is the name given
to us under heaven whereby we must be saved. And all whom Christ
saved, they are washed in the blood of Christ. He is the one
who came as a servant, robed in a towel, the towel of his
flesh taking the lowest place. and he washes clean, wipes clean
his people of their sin to deliver us from death and condemnation
and the horrors that await those who trusted in their own righteousness. Colossians 121 and 22, Paul said,
you that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked
works, works of righteousness which you thought pleased God,
yet now hath Christ reconciled in the body of his flesh through
death to present you holy and unblameable and unreprovable
in his sight. For it is in Christ that we are
sanctified through the offering of the body of Christ once for
all. So because we are His own people
whom He loved and gave His life for, the Son and the Father,
loving His people, sends His Holy Spirit to seek and to find
all His people who are lost. And every one of His people are
lost. Our Lord gets us lost that we might be found. He makes us
blind that we might see by His grace. He shuts our ear that
He might open it by grace. He shuts this boastful mouth,
bragging on what I've done for the Lord, that He might open
our mouth and loosen our tongue, not to speak of self and our
own righteousness, but to speak of the righteousness of God,
the Lord Jesus Christ, and what He's done for me. in love, in
mercy, in grace, and how he cares for his people, tenderly providing
everything that we need. And so he gives us life to behold
him, to trust him, to walk before him in faith till he returns
and brings us home to be with him. And so I'm thankful for
the love and the precious sight that our Lord gives us of His
Son here in this text where we see what He's done for us, how
low He stooped and brought Himself to put away all our sin by the
death of Himself. I pray that the Lord bless your
hearts to see Him as your all as well and to believe Him and
to trust Him unto the salvation of your soul. Amen. All right,
brethren. Well, we're going to hand out
the bread and the wine. Scott, if you could do that.
You want to do them both or should we bring Jordan? Let's just,
since we got Jordan, let's just have Jordan. His hands are free.
We'll have him do one and you do the other. You could hand it out now and
then you can pray after, brother. I'm going to be in 1 Corinthians
11 and we'll just take the bread and the wine together here. Paul
writes in verse 23, For I have received of the Lord that which
also I delivered unto you, that the Lord Jesus, the same night
in which he was betrayed, took bread. when he had given thanks
he break it and said take eat this is my body which is broken
for you this do in remembrance of me. Verse 25 After the same manner
also, he took the cup when he had supped, saying, this cup
is the New Testament in my blood. This do ye as oft as ye drink
it in remembrance of me. For as often as ye eat this bread
and drink this cup, ye do show the Lord's death till he come. We have no other trust, no other
hope, no other confidence but the Lord Jesus Christ. All right,
brother, come and close this in a hymn and we'll be dismissed.
Before that, actually, let me just say that, so I think you
all saw the email her brother larry chris that he and his wife
their home was greatly affected by the heavy rains and continue
to pray because there's another round of rain coming in i think
that hits their same area wednesday i don't know if it'll be as bad
but it's you know it's already soaked there i'm sure so i haven't
seen it but it's bad enough that Darvin, Brother Darvin was moved
to organize to let the churches know their situation. And so
you brethren have put together, and we're going to give them
some cash. I don't see any reason why I'm
not going, but I'll head out on Monday morning. I just need
to go to the doctor today, but I don't see anything stopping
that. I'll let you know if anything does get in the way, but I don't
think so. So I'll head out tomorrow morning
early and get down there early afternoon. And I should be there
till Wednesday, so as long as I have your permission, we'll
cancel Tuesday. And I thought you guys would
be okay, because I want you to be partakers in this joy. I want us all to be in agreement
and to go there together, being represented and to help and just
to be there with the brethren. I'm thankful for that, I'm thankful
for you guys being open and willing to let me go and just pray that
the Lord bless the work and bless them and help them. I think they're
gonna, they were in a hotel and they should be getting back.
I think they'll be in some members of the church's house until this
is ready to go. Darvin's pretty talented and
so he can definitely direct us and help us and I'm sure do a
lot himself. And so there's a lot of others
coming down, other pastors and men from other churches that
are able to go down there. And so I think Darvin's probably
coming back Thursday. I plan to come back Wednesday
so I can get ready for next Sunday with you. So just just pray that
the Lord bless them and protect them there. They don't live in
a flood zone. No one alive remembers there ever being a flood like
this in that area. So they didn't have protection. And apparently if you don't add
the protection, you don't get it. So even for things like this,
so just pray for them. And and uh, so let's have a hymn and then we'll be
just Let's all stand and sing a closing
hymn, 236 Amazing Grace, 236. Amazing grace, how sweet the
sound, that saved a wretch like me. I once was lost, but now
am found. Was blind, but now I see. Was grace that taught my heart
to fear And grace my fears relieved How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed Through many dangers, toils, and snares,
I have already come. This grace hath brought me safe
thus far, and grace will lead me home. When we've been there ten thousand
years, bright shining as the sun, we've no less days to sing
God's praise than when we first begun.
