Isaiah

In his sermon titled "I Need A Savior," Eric Lutter discusses the necessity of salvation through Jesus Christ, emphasizing the Reformed doctrine of total depravity, which asserts that humanity cannot save itself due to the inherent sinfulness of man. He argues that many people misplace their trust in their own efforts or religious practices instead of recognizing their dire need for a Savior. Lutter cites Isaiah 49:4, where Christ acknowledges His labor seeming in vain, yet trusts the Father for judgment. He further draws from John 5 and Romans 3 to illustrate that God justifies Christ and thus affirms His atoning work; this reveals that true believers acknowledge their insufficiency and rely solely on Christ's completed work for salvation, highlighting the significance of grace in the Reformed tradition.

Key Quotes

I'm going to call the video. Good evening. Let's begin this
evening service by standing and singing 262, 262, trusting Jesus. Simply trusting every day, trusting
through a stormy way. Even when my faith is small,
trusting Jesus, that is all. Trusting as the moments fly,
Trusting as the days go by, trusting Him whate'er befall, trusting
Jesus, that is all. Brightly doth his spirit shine
into this poor heart of mine. While he leads, I cannot fall. Trusting Jesus, that is all. Trusting as the moments fly. Trusting as the days go by. Trusting Him, whate'er befall. Trusting Jesus, that is all. ? Singing if my way is clear
? ? Praying if the path be drear ? ? If in danger for him call
? ? Trusting Jesus that is all ? ? Trusting as the moments fly
? Trusting as the days go by, trusting Him, whate'er befall,
trusting Jesus, that is all. Trusting Him while life shall
last, trusting Him till earth be past. Till within the Jasper
wall, trusting Jesus, that is all. ? Trusting as the moments
fly ? ? Trusting as the days go by ? ? Trusting Him whate'er
befall ? ? Trusting Jesus, that is all ? It's comforting him. The next one is going to be 224. I know whom I've had believed.
224. I know not why God's wondrous
grace to me he hath made known, nor why unworthy Christ did love
redeem before his own. But I know whom I have believed
and have persuaded that he is able to keep that which I've
committed unto him against that day. I know not how this saving
faith to me He did impart, Nor how believing in His word brought
peace within my heart. But I know whom I have believed
and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I've committed
unto him against that day. I know not how the Spirit moves
convincing men of sin, Revealing Jesus through the Word, creating
faith in Him. But I know whom I have believed
and am persuaded that He is able to keep that which I've committed
unto Him against that day. I know not what of good or ill
may be reserved for me. Of weary ways or golden days
before his face I see. But I know whom I have believed
and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I've committed
unto him against that day. I know not when my Lord may come
at night or noonday fair, nor if I'll walk the vale with him
or meet him in the air. But I know whom I have believed
in and persuaded that he is able to keep that which I've committed
unto him against that day. Thank you. I'd like to read from Ezekiel
37, Ezekiel 37, starting with verse one, 37 verse one, the hand of the Lord
was upon me and carried me out in the spirit of the Lord. and
set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones,
and caused me to pass by them round about. And behold, there
were very many in the open valley, and lo, they were very dry. And
he said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered,
O Lord God, thou knowest. Again he said unto me, prophesy
upon these bones and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the
word of the Lord. Thus saith the Lord God unto
these bones, behold, I will cause breath to enter into you and
ye shall live. And I will lay sinews upon you
and will bring up flesh upon you and cover you with skin and
put breath in you, and ye shall live, and ye shall know that
I am the Lord. So I prophesied as I was commanded,
and as I prophesied there was a noise, and behold a shaking,
and the bones came together, bone to his bone. And when I
beheld, lo, the sinews and the flesh came up upon them, and
the skin covered them above, but there was no breath in them.
Then said he unto me, prophesy unto the wind. Prophesy, son
of man, and say to the wind, thus saith the Lord God, come
from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain
that they may live. So I prophesied as he commanded
me, and the breath came into them, and they lived and stood
up upon their feet as an exceeding great army. Then he said unto
me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. Behold,
they say, our bones are dried and our hope is lost. We are
cut off for our parts. Therefore, prophesy and say unto
them, thus saith the Lord God, behold, O my people, I will open
your graves and cause you to come up out of your graves and
bring you into the land of Israel. And ye shall know that I am the
Lord. When I have opened your graves, O my people, and brought
you up out of your graves, and shall put my spirit in you, and
you shall live, and I shall place you in your own land, then shall
ye know that I, the Lord, have spoken it and performed it, saith
the Lord. Let's pray. Our heavenly merciful Father,
we thank you, Father, for allowing us a short time this evening
to assemble together as a local assembly to hear the declaration
of the Lord Jesus Christ and all that you have accomplished.
Father, we thank you for your full and free salvation. There
is nothing left for us to do. Father, will you increase our
faith and give us rest and peace for our souls? And remember Brother
Eric, Lord, we thank you for him. And will you be with him
this evening? Give him, Lord, the words to
speak. and pour out your spirit upon us, Lord, as he speaks and
as we listen. Father, give us a hunger and
a thirst after your righteousness. And will you remember all those,
Lord, some are suffering from illnesses. We think of Claudia
with the procedure this week. Will you continue, Lord, to give
her strength and be with Brother Scott also as he struggles with
his health. And Father, unite us once again
this coming Sunday, the Lord willing. And Father, remember
us as a local assembly. We thank you, Lord, for allowing
us to come together. Will you continue to watch over
us? Thy will be done for Jesus' sake alone, amen. Good evening. Our text is found in Isaiah 49,
verse 4. Isaiah 49, verse 4. It's our Lord Jesus Christ speaking
here, and He says, I have labored in vain I have spent my strength
for naught, and in vain. Yet surely my judgment is with
the Lord, and my work with my God. Our Lord Jesus Christ came
into this world with a purpose. He came into this world with
a purpose, which was to fulfill the will and purpose of his God,
God his Father. And he brought that purpose to
his own people, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the
world began. Now I realize that there's a
lot of people in this world that don't see Christ as necessary
for salvation. Many don't see their need for
a Savior. They think that if there's a
need for their salvation, they'll be the ones to do their own saving. They'll save themselves. Man
believes that he has many tools at his disposal. He thinks if
things get bad, he's got some ideas, he's got some things at
his disposal that he's keeping on the shelf in case he needs
them. So if he changes his mind and
comes to think that he might need to clean up some for God,
Well, he's pretty good. He's got some goodness, and he's
got some ideas of how he can dust himself up, clean himself
up a little bit more, and make himself fit for God. He knows he can pick up a form
of religion. He can put into practice some
things which he's heard from his childhood, or he can read
up on the Ten Commandments again and see them as a checklist to
make sure he's still doing that which he's supposed to do. There's
always the church down the street or around the corner that he
can go to and get himself a little religious education to stand
before God. But everything that the man looks
to, everything that this old man, this old flesh looks to,
is things. We're always looking to things
that we can do. We're always looking to things
that we can add or contribute to this work and earn God's favor. We're never looking to Christ. We're never looking to Him who
was sent of God into this world to save His people. The natural man never looks to
Christ. I want you to know that Christ
came into this world because His people cannot save themselves. His people cannot save themselves. They're sinners. The people whom
Christ came to save are sinners. They're guilty sinners, condemned
sinners, offensive sinners to God. We're sinners in need of
a Savior. The Lord's chosen people, taught
in His Word, taught by the witness of the Spirit in us, We know
we need a Savior. We need a Savior because we cannot
save ourselves. The Lord teaches us that. We
cannot save ourselves. We need Him in whom is all our
salvation. Paul, when he was writing to
Timothy, said, Timothy, this is a faithful saying. This is a faithful saying and
worthy of all acceptation. Meaning anyone who names the
name of Christ, anyone whose hope is the Lord Jesus Christ,
should have no problem with this saying. It's a faithful saying. They will wholeheartedly agree
that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners of whom
I am chief. I am so vile a sinner that if
Christ didn't come and lay down his life for me, if Christ didn't
shed his blood for me, I cannot be saved. I have no righteousness
of my own before holy God. Christ Jesus came into the world
for this purpose, to save sinners, to save his people, who cannot
save themselves. The natural man may not see his
need for Christ, but thank God that he sees our need for Christ,
that he sees the need that we have, because apart from Christ,
no sinner can be saved. We cannot be saved but by the
Lord Jesus Christ himself. And our God chose a people in
Christ and we need him. We need his salvation. And his word tells us that wisdom,
the wisdom of God is justified by all of her children. Her children confess We need
the Lord Jesus Christ. Thank you, Lord, for your grace
and mercy. I've titled this message, I Need
a Savior. I Need a Savior. And we'll first
look at man who rejects Christ. We'll see the judgment of man. how that he rejects Christ, but
we'll see that God justifies Christ. He justified Christ. And we'll see how the Spirit
of God justifies Christ in our hearts. He justifies Christ in
our hearts. We know, we confess that we need
Christ. Our Lord says in our text, surely
my judgment is with the Lord and my work with my God. Our Lord is speaking about a
verdict. He's speaking about a verdict
of God. A judgment or a verdict, it's
a judicial term. It's a word used in our court
systems. Oftentimes, the cases, the trials
that we're familiar with, they'll have a jury, a jury of our peers,
people like us who will hear the case. And there will be a
defendant who's defending themselves against the charge. And the jury
will hear the evidence presented, and they'll go back and take
some time to deliberate. And then they'll come out with
a verdict, a judgment. guilty or not guilty. Well, there's other kinds of
cases as well. Maybe we're not as familiar with
them, but it's where a judge or a collection of judges will
hear a case. They'll hear some evidence and
they'll determine, they'll decide based on the evidence presented
whether certain criteria was met or not met. And that's closer to what our
Lord is speaking of here. Did Christ accomplish the will
of his father or did he not? Did Christ accomplish the salvation
of his people, or did he not? The one who determines whether
Christ fulfilled the will of his God or not is not man. It's not man's decision. It's
not man's judgment. It's not man's choice. God the
Father is the one who gives his judgment. As the Lord said, surely
my judgment is with the Lord and my work with my God. When the Lord says here in the
beginning of verse four, then I said, I have labored in vain. I have spent my strength for
naught and in vain. He's referencing his ministry
here on the earth. when the Lord came and ministered
the gospel among us, when he dwelt among us in the flesh,
as a man, as the Lamb of God, who was sent of God, come to
save his people, a people given to him by his father. And he labored among the Jews.
He came to the Jewish nation, he came to the Jews and labored
among them, declaring all that the father gave him to say. What the father told him to speak,
that's exactly what Christ spoke to the people. And he went about
doing many miracles, doing the works of his father in the midst
of the people. so that they would know that
he was sent of God. Turn over to John chapter 5 and
stay with me in John. Put a marker in there. We'll
look at a few verses here and we'll even be back later in John.
John 5 and verse 19 and 20. Then answered Jesus and said
unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing
of himself. But what he seeth the Father
do, for what thing soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son
likewise. For the Father loveth the Son,
and showeth him all things that himself doeth. And he will show
him greater works than these, that ye may marvel. And our Lord,
when He came to this earth, He fulfilled the will of God who
sent Him. He fulfilled the will of God.
Turn over to John 6. John chapter 6. And let's look
at verse 38. Our Lord says, for I came down
from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of Him that
sent me. And this is the Father's will
which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me, I should
lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.
And this is the will of him that sent me, that everyone which
seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting
life, and I will raise him up at the last day." So what happened? Was Christ successful? Did he
fulfill the will of God his Father? Did he fulfill the will that
God sent him to do in fulfilling the will and purpose of God for
his chosen people? Well, turn over to John chapter
one, John one, and look at verse 10 and 11 with me. We read there that He was in
the world, and the world was made by Him. This is speaking
of the Word of God, which is the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son.
The world was made by Him, and the world knew Him not. He came unto His own, and His
own received Him not. all that time that our Lord was
here in the earth, in the flesh, among the people, working miracles
among them, declaring the gospel to them, the Jews by and large
rejected Him as the Christ. And Stephen, who was stoned by
those same Jews that rejected Christ, told them they were betrayers
and murderers of Christ. Acts 7.52, he said, you're betrayers
and murderers of Christ. That's what he told those people
who saw and heard Christ. Concerning this people, our Lord
said in our text, I have labored in vain, I have spent my strength
for naught and in vain. And when we look on the outward
response of men and women who hear the gospel, who you speak
to, and you see an opportunity, and you speak to them, and you
declare the truth, and you have a particular blessing of the
Lord to declare the truth, and there's nothing, no response,
no interest, we might well conclude that we're wasting our time. Nobody's listening. Nobody cares. Nobody cares. No one has a need. There's millions that are indifferent
to their need for righteousness, and they have no righteousness. Either they think that they have
some righteousness or a sufficient amount of righteousness, or they
simply don't care. They don't even care. And there's
millions that go to churches or houses of worship, so-called,
each week, and they practice a form of religion that they
think will save them, that they think will speak well for them,
and that God will receive them because of it. But according
to this word, they're trusting a lie. They're chasing after
a falsehood. They're deceived in thinking
that their works make them righteous, and that they'll be accepted
and received of God because of their works. They're believing
a lie. Who among us is a sinner? Who among us has no righteousness,
nothing to boast of before God? Who among us is a sinner in need
of salvation by grace, freely given to us of our Father? in His Son, whom He sent to save
His people who fell grievously in sin. We need a Savior, we
need salvation, because we have no hope of saving ourselves. Now just to be very clear before
we move off this point, just to see where man stands in his
judgment of Christ, because man has a judgment of Christ, when
our Lord said, I've labored in vain, I've spent my strength
for naught and in vain, He's showing us that left to man's
judgment. If God were to leave it all to
man's judgment, man's decision, man's choice. man's verdict,
whether or not Christ is his savior and sufficient, whether
he's a sufficient savior for man. If God left it to man's
judgment, we'd all be lost. Every one of us would be lost.
None of us would turn from our dead works and believe only upon
the Lord Jesus Christ. Trust him for everything. None
of us would believe him. Man's judgment rejects Christ,
just as these Jews, and left to man's judgment, we'd all be
lost. Our Lord knows that He did not
fail. When He hung on the cross for
His people, He cried, It is finished! It's finished. He's a successful
Savior. A successful Savior. And He's making sure that we,
men and women, gathered here to hear His gospel proclaimed. We that hunger and thirst for
His righteousness and have no righteousness of our own, He's
making sure that we know that we're that wicked. That left
to ourselves, we've no righteousness. We would not be turned. We really
would not be turned if not for the grace of God turning us,
if not for His free grace and mercy turning us. We can't even
turn ourselves to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ that we
might be justified by the faith of Jesus Christ. We can't even
do it. All hope of man being lost, our
Lord then declares this part of the Gospel to us as well.
First, that man cannot save himself. But then he says in the second
half of our text, yet surely my judgment is with the Lord
and my work with my God. Thankfully, he didn't leave it
in our hands, but shows us that it's with the Lord. It's with
the Lord. Judgment is with our God, our
gracious God. And here's where we see that
our God justifies Christ. He justifies Christ. Our Lord
was faithful to the Father in all things, and He left the judgment
of His work in the hands of the Father, not men, not you and
me, but with His Father. Turn over to John 17. John 17. And we'll look at verses four
and five together. This is our Lord, the high priest,
our high priest, praying for his people. And he says in verse
four, I've glorified thee on the earth. I've finished the
work which thou gavest me to do. And now, O Father, glorify
thou me with thine own self, with the glory which I had with
thee before the world was. and our God did just that. It can truly be said that our
Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, is justified in the Spirit. He's justified in the Spirit,
as Paul wrote to Timothy in 1 Timothy 3.16. He's justified in the Spirit. Not only were his works perfect,
while he dwelt here in the flesh, being testified to the miracles
which his father gave him to do. But he faithfully, willingly,
believing God, went to the cross to put away the sins of his people. Bearing their sins and putting
away our sins which separated us from God, and he made an atonement
for us. He reconciled us to the Father.
He was justified in the Spirit in that He was raised from the
dead by the power of God. and his disciples saw him. They saw him after witnessing
and seeing him die on the cross, seeing him buried in the tomb,
and then they saw him raised from the dead. And they bore
witness to his resurrection. Our Lord accomplished what his
Father sent him to do. And it's revealed to us in the
witness that God gave us in raising him from the dead, justifying
him before our eyes, so that we know God is well pleased with
the Son. He's received his sacrifice. Christ has put away our sins. And our Lord ascended up to heaven. There again the Apostles, witnessing
our Lord, ascend up, rise up right before them into the clouds. So that the angel said, what
are you men of Galilee still doing here looking up? He's going
to return. But our Lord is now set down,
set down on the right hand of the throne of God, meaning the
work is finished. He's set down. That's what you
do when you finish your job, when you finish your labors,
you set down and you rest. And we read in Philippians 2
verse 9 and 10, Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him,
and given him a name, which is above every name, that at the
name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and
things in earth, and things under the earth. Carnal man may not
know it, but we know what the judgment of the Lord is concerning
the work of our Savior. Our Lord is justified of God
so that He is now rightly called the Just One. And you know, his whole church
is built upon Jesus Christ. The whole church is founded upon
this one, the Lord Jesus Christ, the just one. He's not a component. He is the very foundation upon
which we stand. He cannot be shaken. When things of this earth are
shaken, and that which is made is shaken and falls apart, that
which our Savior established, that which He created, is not
shaken. It cannot be brought down because
it's of God. It's of Him. It's founded upon
the Just One, the Lord Jesus Christ, and His Church is built
upon Christ, the Eternal Rock. the Eternal Rock, and we stand
upon Him in the faith of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Christ is justified in the Spirit every time the new creation is
manifest in our hearts. That faith which God gives to
His children, whereby we look to Him and come to a person the
Lord Jesus Christ, forsaking the works of our own hands, forsaking
the things that we do, and looking to the one whom the Father sent
and justified before our very eyes, through his Son, raising
him from the dead, raising us from the dead, through regeneration
by his Holy Spirit, in which he gives us eternal life and
our Savior, believing him, trusting him, hearing his voice, hearing
his gospel, the good news that it's not my works that save me,
but his work, his work. righteousness, the hope that
he gives us in him so that we arise in our baptized calling
upon the name of the Lord. And he carries us from that first
hour all the way through our lives to that last hour when
he brings us up to himself in glory. Christ is justified in
this glorious work of God, declaring that God approves of that work
that His Son has accomplished. And therefore, He's well pleased. We're justified who come to the
Father through Jesus Christ, the Son. Coming to Him, trusting
in Him. Christ is justified of the Father
and all you that believe Him. and come to the Father through
Christ are justified of him. When Ananias was sent to Saul
of Tarsus, he declared the gospel to Saul. He declared that gospel
to him, and he said in Acts 22, 14, the God of our fathers hath
chosen thee. He's chosen thee, that thou shouldest
know his will. that will being the Lord Jesus
Christ, that all who see him by faith, who see him as the
salvation that the Father provided, who see him as all their salvation,
that we should be saved, that we should see that just one and
should hear the voice of his mouth. We see the Savior. Some see him as a signpost, a
guide. If you see him only as a signpost
telling you which way to go so that you can be pleasing to the
Father by your works, you've missed the Savior. If you see
him as a good man who sets an example for our goodness to please
God, you've missed the just one. You've not seen him. We that
see Christ by faith see him as all our salvation we see him
as the just one the one whom god justified and said get to
him get to christ there is no other salvation there is no deliverance
from the wrath of god but in the lord jesus christ we come
to the father covered in the blood of christ because the blood
of christ reconciles us to our god in him we are justified. Every believer for whom Christ
died shall see that just one. He is the Redeemer. He is the
substitute. He is our satisfaction with the
Father and we are satisfied even as God is satisfied. He's our surety. He is our life. He's our life. We feed upon him
We live upon the Lord Jesus Christ and we hear His voice who has
all authority and power given to Him of the Father to give
life to whom He will. He says over in John 5, John
5 verse 25, turn over there, John 5, 25 down to 27, Verily,
verily, I say unto you, the hour is coming,
and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of
God, and they that hear shall live. For as the Father hath
life in himself, so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself,
and hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because
he is the Son of Man. What is the judgment of the Lord
concerning Christ? He's pleased. He's well pleased
with the Son. Every true child of God shall
see that Christ only, only is all my salvation. I cannot be
saved by any other. I will not be received by God
the Father by any work that I do. There's nothing I can do to save
myself. I have nothing to give to God
to make an atonement for my sin, save one thing, which he has
made me to know, that all who come to the throne of God before
him, covered in the blood of Christ, shall never be turned
away. We shall never be ashamed for
trusting wholly on the blood of Christ. Trusting in the Lord
Jesus Christ alone, we shall never be ashamed. We shall be
saved in him. Turn over to Romans 3. Romans
3. We're going to pick up in verse
21. We see here that our Lord does something for his children
whom Christ died to save, which he does not do for any other
creature. He makes us, by his grace, to
see Christ, the just one, who's all holy God requires. Look here
in verse 21. But now the righteousness of
God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and
the prophets, even the righteousness of God, which is by faith of
Jesus Christ. Our righteousness which is of
God is by the faithfulness, the faithful work of the Lord Jesus
Christ unto all and upon all them that believe, that believe
in Christ, that trust him for his faithfulness, trust him for
his faithful sacrifice to the Father. For there is no difference,
meaning Jew and Gentile are all saved the same way. None of us
comes a different way from the other. We all come through the
blood, for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. When our God raised Christ from
the dead, he was declaring Christ, his son, just, the just one. that he accepted his sacrifice. He declared the work he did perfected
forever. Then he came to save. Then he
came to purchase with his own blood so that we are justified
of God in Christ. Verse 24, being justified freely
by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom
God hath set forth to be a propitiation, meaning that he is the means
of appeasing God. Propitiation is the means of
appeasing the wrath of God. through faith in his blood, to
declare his righteousness for the remission, for the forgiveness
of sins that are passed through the forbearance of God, to declare,
I say at this time, his righteousness for sins present and sins to
come, that he might be just and the justifier of him which believeth
in Jesus, the blood of our Savior. The blood of the Lord Jesus Christ
prevails with God. Nothing you or I can do will
prevail with God, but Christ prevailed with God our Father,
and in Him we are received. we're received, we're justified
by the Lord Jesus Christ. And our God sanctified them and
calls each one for whom Christ died by his gospel. He calls
us, he brings us to hear that gospel so that we hear his voice,
we hear the voice of the Savior, we hear him speak that word of
life into our hearts whereby we believe him. we're given life
by a spirit. We hear it and we believe by
God-given faith. As Paul said to the Thessalonians,
we are bound to give thanks all the way to God for you, brethren,
beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen
you to salvation through sanctification of the spirit, setting you apart,
and belief of the truth. This is the Spirit that justifies
Christ in your heart, making you to know that He is all my
salvation, delivering us from that confidence, that self-righteous
self-confidence of natural man who would judge Christ insufficient
or unnecessary, the Spirit justifies him in our heart by making us
know, oh, he's necessary. He's everything I need, everything
I need to stand before my God. Whereunto he called you by our
gospel to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. Our Savior shall never fail.
He is the just one. He makes me to see what I am
in this flesh. I'm a guilty, vile sinner who
cannot save myself. I need a just Savior, and Christ
is just the Savior I need. I need only the Lord Jesus Christ,
and He's the only Savior I need. He's all that His people need.
Everyone who believes in Christ receives remission of sins. They shall never be ashamed to
trust in Him. Acts 10 43, to Him give all the
prophets witness, that through His name, whosoever believeth
in Him shall receive remission of sins. all that call upon Christ
are saved. They shall be saved in Him. It must be because it is according
to the will and the purpose of God. The judgment of God concerning
His Son is revealed in our hearts by the faith He gives us, looking
to none other than the Lord Jesus Christ. He is all my salvation
and I love Him. We love him who first loved us,
as does every child of God for whom he gave his life and shed
his blood to make them his own. We are justified by his blood. We shall be saved from wrath
through him. In Christ we are reconciled to
God by the death of his son, and we shall be saved by his
life. Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable
gift. Let's close in prayer, brethren.
Our gracious Lord, we thank you for such a wonderful Savior.
Lord, we thank you that you did not leave the judgment to us,
the decision to us, the Lord that judgment is with our God
and you have justified your son and you by your spirit justify
him in our hearts whereby you give us life and faith looking
alone to the Lord Jesus Christ we thank you Lord for your mercy
and grace to us Lord that You're so kind and so generous and so
rich toward us in your son, Jesus Christ. Father, we pray for your
people that you would pour out your spirit upon us, help us
to hear, help us indeed to rejoice in your son. Lord, gather your
people together, assemble us together to hear your gospel
word to be fed by the Lord Jesus Christ. It's in his name we pray
and give thanks. Amen. Let's stand and sing a closing
hymn, 512, Saved by Grace, 512. May the silver cord well break,
and I no more as now shall sing, but oh the joy when I shall wake
within the palace of the King. Then I shall see Him face to
face, And tell the story saved by grace. Then I shall see Him
face to face, And tell the story saved by grace. Someday my earthly house will
fall, and I can't tell how soon it will be. But this I know,
my all in all, has now a place in heaven for me. And I shall
see Him face to face, And tell the story saved by grace. And I shall see Him face to face,
And tell the story saved by grace. Whom they went face the golden
sun, Beneath the rosy-tinted west, My blessed Lord will say,
Well done, and I shall enter in to rest. And I shall see Him
face to face and tell the story saved by grace. And I shall see Him face to face
and tell the story saved by grace. Someday till then I'll watch
and wait, My lamp all trimmed and burning bright, And when
my Saviour opens the gate, My soul to Him may take its flight. And I shall see Him face to face,
And tell the story shaped by grace, And I shall see and face
to face and tell the story saved by grace.
