Matthew

In his sermon titled "What a Wonderful Savior," John Reeves expounds on the doctrine of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ as illustrated in Matthew chapters 8 and 9. He emphasizes that faith is a heart matter, rooted in God's grace, which transforms sinful hearts and compels sinners to seek Jesus as their Savior. Key scriptural references include John 10:27-30, where Jesus identifies Himself with His sheep, showcasing God's sovereign choice in salvation. The miracles of healing a woman with a blood disease and raising a ruler's daughter exemplify how faith, though not inherently powerful, draws on the infinite power of Christ to save. The significance lies in understanding that true faith honors God and that the miracles performed by Jesus serve as a testament to His divinity and the ultimate reality of salvation for His elect.

Key Quotes

“It's not our faith, but the subject of our faith.”

“For by grace are ye saved through faith, and not of yourselves. It is the gift of God.”

“Faith honors God, and God honors faith.”

“What do these works bear witness of? They bear witness that this man is God manifest in the flesh.”

All righty, if you would, turn
in your Bibles to the book of Matthew. And we're going to look
at this couple of chapters here, Matthew 9 and 8. So you might
want to leave your Bibles open to those pages. Most of what
we need tonight is in our handout, but I want to read our text in
Matthew 9, verses 18-26. But before we get there, let's
begin with our handout, page 1. And I've titled tonight's
message, What a Wonderful Savior. A Wonderful Savior. I thought
about this song as I was reading these words about the Lord and
His miracles with these two folks. And I thought, a wonderful Savior
is Jesus my Lord. A wonderful Savior to me." Folks,
God's salvation is a personal thing. It's a heart matter. It's
a matter of the heart. We all come into this world with
a heart that is darkened by sin, and it takes the Lord and His
grace to come to us and open our minds and our eyes to Him
as a wonderful Savior. And that's the words that I said,
a wonderful Savior to me. He's wonderful to me. Listen
to these words of John chapter 10 verse 23 through 30. And Jesus
walked in the temple of Solomon's porch. You know, I wanted to
say this before I read this and I forgot to almost. Nowhere in
Scripture does it define the gospel. the good news to a sinner
more graciously in my mind than it does right here in John chapter
10. And we begin, And Jesus walked
in the temple of Solomon's porch. Then came the Jews round about
him. This is a picture of the world.
These were The goody two-shoes, the holier than thou. Then came
the Jews round about him and said unto him, How long dost
thou make us to doubt? How long are you going to make
us to doubt? You know, they didn't even know
what they were saying. They didn't even know what they were saying.
I think it was Norman that was talking about the hardening of
our hearts the other night. God hardens the heart, yes. All
He has to do is remove His gracious hand, His sovereign hand, and
our hearts will harden on their own. But all things are by the
purpose of God, are they not? How long dost thou make us to
doubt? If thou be the Christ, Tell us
plainly. And I love this answer. Because
this is so appropriate through God's Word. Jesus answered, He
says, I told you. Oh, how often we've seen in God's
Word where He declares Himself to be, I and my Father are one. He's the Creator of all that
is. He says, I told you and you believed
not. Then he says this, the works
that I do in my Father's name, and I'm gonna tell you something
folks, everything he did on this earth was in the name of the
Father. He came to do the will of the Father. And he did it
perfectly. He says, the works that I do
in my Father's name, they bear witness of me. And here's God's
grace. But ye believe not. Because ye
are not my sheep, as I said unto you, my sheep hear my voice,
and I know them. And they follow me, and I give
unto them eternal life, and they shall never perish, neither shall
any pluck them out of my hand. My Father which gave me is greater
than all, and no, man is able to pluck them out of my Father's
hand. I and my Father are one." What
a wonderful Savior is Jesus Christ my Lord. What a wonderful Savior
to me. Well, why is He a wonderful Savior
to me? Oh, I'm so glad you asked. I'm
so glad you asked. John, why are you so upbeat when
the world around us is so much in chaos, when everything seems
to be falling apart, when all of the world is telling lies
and loving the lies they're telling? What is it? Well, it's because
I have a Savior. I have a gracious Lord. Well,
why is He wonderful Savior to me? Because He's not left me
to myself as those that He just said, you do not believe because
you're not my sheep. He has not left me to myself
as a vessel fitted to destruction. Oh, I have earned His wrath.
I have sinned against God. But my Savior, whose name is
wonderful, has endured God's wrath and paid the price for
me. My faith has found a resting
place, not in device or creed. I trust the Ever-Living One.
His wounds for me shall plead. the gospel, the good news for
a sinner. Christ is come to save sinners
of whom I am chief. In our last study, we considered
the wonder of our Savior and His long-suffering to us. Tonight,
may our blessed Redeemer show Himself in the wonderful salvation
that He performed by two great miracles of grace. And I want
you to join me in your Bibles. If you would, turn to chapter
9 of Matthew, and let's read verse 18 through 26. Matthew
9, verse 18. While He spake these things unto them, Speaking of no man putteth a
piece of new cloth on an old garment, or neither do men put
new wine in old bottles, while he spake these things unto them,
behold, there came a certain ruler, and worshipped him, saying,
My daughter is even now dead, but come, and lay thy hand upon
her, and she shall live. And Jesus arose, and followed
him, and so did his disciples. And behold, a woman, which was
diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him,
and touched the hem of his garment. Verse 21, For she said within
herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole. But Jesus turned him about, and
when he saw her, he said, Daughter, Be of good comfort, thy faith
hath made thee whole, and the woman was made whole from that
hour. And when Jesus came into the
ruler's house and saw the minstrels and the people making a noise,
he said unto them, Give place, for the maid is not dead, but
sleepeth. And they left him to scorn. But when the people were
put forth, he went in and took her by the hand, and the maid
arose. and the fame hereof went abroad
into all that land. Let's go back now, if you would,
to the last paragraph of page one in your handout. Matthew
gives us two examples of Lord honoring faith. He blends these
two great miracles together by the direction of God the Holy
Spirit. The one runs into the other,
and both serve as an illustration to the glory of Christ and the
omnipotent power of His saving grace. First we see a man whose
daughter is dead, asking the Lord Jesus to come lay His hand
on his dead child and restore her life. to this great request
which exemplified great faith. Remember, in doing so, in asking
the Lord, he had obviously heard that the Lord was able to, and
then God gave him the power to believe that he could be one. He could be one that the Lord
would come and perform a miracle. And his daughter, having the
need of his daughter being dead, he came to the Lord, expecting
the Lord to receive his call. This too, to this great request,
which exemplified great faith, the Lord Jesus readily accepted
and started to go with the man. Can you imagine the hope and
joy that must have flooded that father's heart? I mean, he must
have been in a terrible state when he came to the Lord. His
daughter was dead. And now the Lord is going to
come and restore her? But as he was going, a woman
with an issue of blood interrupted the procession, touching the
Lord Jesus with the hand of faith. When she touched him, the procession
came to a halt. I like what it says over Luke,
Jesus stood still. It came to a halt, and the Lord
Jesus paused to cure that poor woman, honoring and commending
her faith. Mark adds a little more detail
than Matthew. He tells us that while the Lord
Jesus was speaking to this woman, there came a certain from a ruler
of the synagogue's house, certain which said, thy daughter is dead. Why troublest thou the master? Luke tells us the same thing
over in Mark 5 and Luke 8. Brother Don Fortner wrote these
words, he said, Our needs never deter the Lord. His mercy towards us. Secondly,
back in our handout again, mid-page, Matthew recorded this healing
of this woman, and we are given a tremendous instructive picture,
again, of great faith. Mark and Luke, in their more
detailed accounts of these events, inform us that she had been in
this sorrowful condition of weakness and uncleanness for 12 years.
and that she had spent all of her living on physicians of no
value, hoping to obtain a cure, yet she has no better off, but
only grew worse. How anxious sinners are to make
any sacrifice, try any religion, and submit to tortures of religious
ceremonies, all the while their condition just gets worse. Until the sick soul comes to
Christ, there is no hope. All the attempted cures of religious
experiences and religious works are nothing but vanity. Solomon was speaking, and he
expressed how he had gone out into the world and experienced
everything. And everything that he had experienced
was nothing but vanity. when it comes to knowing the
truth of who our Lord and Savior is. Everything else was nothing
but vanity. That's the same thing with all
the religions, all the false religions, all the works religions. They're nothing but vanity. But
when the sinner is desperate, and is in desperate need, is
brought to the Savior in faith, his sickness is healed. Truly, this son and daughter
of Abraham are of remarkable faith. I say remarkable because
it is a faith, a belief against their own carnal nature, just
as it was at one time to you and I. To believe in Christ,
one's carnal nature must be put away. The old stony heart of
hatred towards God must be cut away. The new wine cannot be
put in an old bottle. Look at verse 17 of Matthew chapter
9. Neither do men put new wine,
we looked at this last week, into old bottles, else the bottles
break and the wine runneth out. But the bottles perish. But they
put new wine in new bottles and both are preserved. We saw last
week how that's a picture of what the Lord said to Nicodemus
when He said, Thou must be born again. You must be born again. You can't put the new covenant. The covenant of God between God
and His people, which is actually the old covenant. It was agreement
between Christ, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Spirit
before the world began. You can't put that covenant of
grace in the old covenant of works. You see, the faith of
God's people is not what is great, but great is the one whom their
faith is in. It's not our faith, but the subject
of our faith. The faith of this woman honored
the Lord Jesus, and the Lord Jesus honored her faith. He said,
Daughter, be of good comfort, thy faith may have made thee
whole over there in verse 22 that we read a moment ago. Obviously,
it was Christ who made her whole, not her faith. Yet it was her
faith in Christ that fetched His healing power to her body
and to her soul. So while we admire her faith,
let us first admire and honor Him who gave her her faith. Remember what we read often in
Ephesians 2, verses 8-9. For by grace are ye saved. Catch
this, for by grace are you saved through faith. We believe, but
we believe in the power of the one who saves us, the Lord Jesus. For by grace are you saved through
faith, and not of yourselves. It is the gift of God, not of
works, lest any man should boast. Though she did not know it at
the time, the Lord Jesus had given her this lively faith,
just as he gave her the blessings of grace that she needed. And
the woman was made whole from that hour. That's what we read.
She was made whole. Next, the Lord Jesus went on
to the ruler of the synagogue's house. And remember, his daughter
was now dead. By all human reason, All hope
should have been gone. I put was, but it should have
been. All hope should have been gone, but that was not the case,
was it? No, this man had a hope. She
was dead when he came to the Lord Jesus. He had a lively hope,
a living hope that the one who gives life would give life to
his daughter. He had a great hope. But that
was not the case. He who is the resurrection and
the life had come to give life to a dead child, and she must
live again. With Eve, the one with all power,
he went in and took her by the hand, and the maid arose. By
his omnipotent grace, the dead are raised up still." That's
over in Matthew 11, 5. With the ease of omnipotent grace,
irresistible grace, he still raises up those who are dead
in trespasses and sins today. Aren't you thankful? Aren't you
thankful? Folks, that's our hope. I bring
up every Friday night in our prayer request our loved ones
who still walk in darkness. I have children, I have grandchildren,
I have family that have no desire whatsoever, just like I was at
one time. And here's my hope is that as
long as they still have breath in them, as long as God has not
taken them through that doormark death, there's hope that they
could be one of His. What a hope! Our Lord is able
to raise up and revive our languishing souls. And He will. Listen to these words from Hosea
6, 1-3. Come and let us return unto the
Lord. For He hath torn, and He will heal us. He hath smitten,
and He will bind us up. After two days will He revive
us, and the third day He will raise us up, and we shall live
in His sight. Then shall we know, we follow
on to know the Lord. His going forth is prepared as
the morning, and He shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter
and the former rain unto the earth. Hosea 6, 1-3. Page 4. Faith honors God, and
God honors faith. The Lord Jesus honored the ruler's
strong faith by doing what he desired, and He honored the woman's
faith by doing for her what she also desired. It is not the measure
of our faith, but the object of our faith that saves us. Consider
with me another event, if you would, where our Lord honored
two of his elect with God-given faith. And we read about this
not long ago over in Matthew chapter 8. You can turn there
in your Bible, or if you'd like, I do have it in the handout for
us. Matthew chapter 8, verses 1 through 10. And we begin with
the first two verses. When he was come down from the
mountain, great multitudes followed him. Matthew 8.1. And behold,
there came a leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt."
Now, this is important. If thou wilt, thou canst make
me clean. Here we see a man who is full
of leprosy. Leprosy was a nasty, nasty disease. We have no true idea of how bad
it was. I mean, it would cause, you could
smell a leper coming. Literally, smell a leper coming.
It was rotting of the flesh, boils that would boil up and
pop. And I don't want to get too graphic
about this, but you could smell a leper coming. That's how bad
leprosy is. That's how nasty and vile it
is. Well, that is what sin is to
the soul. It's leprosy. And here we have
a leper who has no hope, lepers had no hope, most of them died. Very few of them were ever passed
through and cured from their leprosy. Some were, yes, but
very few, most of them died. There was no hope for them, and
here this leper with hope came to the man who could, the man
he had heard about, who was going about declaring himself to be
God in the flesh, who was going about proving who he was by the
miracles that he was doing, and he came to this man, If it be your will, thou canst. I know that if you're willing,
you're able to. I remember my brother, long,
long time ago, Lee Reeves, he gave a devotion on God is able. Able to the uttermost. Folks,
do you realize what that means? to the uttermost. He is able
to the uttermost to save His people. To save us to the uttermost. That means He can purge us of
all of our sins. He can wash us white as white
as snow. This man came and he said, he
came as a leper and he worshipped the Lord and he said, Lord, if
Thou wilt, Thou canst make me clean. Notice the emphasis put
on if Thou wilt. Only one who has been given this
faith of who this man is could come by that way. Only one who,
there were a lot of people around the Lord Jesus at that time,
folks. And there were a lot of lepers. And there were a lot
of sick people, a lot of blind, a lot of lame. There were a lot
of people who were in trouble physically at those days. But
this leper came. He came, and He said, if thou
wilt. This leper calls Him Lord. Listen
to these words from 1 Corinthians 12, 3. And no man can say that
Jesus is the Lord. Did you catch that? No man can
say but that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Ghost. That means that unless the Holy
Ghost is doing a work in someone, they will never call Him from
their heart. Remember what I said in the beginning,
He's a wonderful Savior to me? It's a heart matter. He has given
me a heart to know that any salvation is a salvation of Him and Him
alone. What a wonderful Savior that
He would come to me in my heart and make me make Himself my Lord. That's what this is saying here. Without the Holy Spirit, None
can say that Jesus is the Lord. Christ is Lord of all. He created
all things. All things were made by Him and
without Him was not anything made that was made. That's John
1, 3. But no unregenerate carnal man
can call Him this with our natural dead heart. The truth of God
is enmity, is what it tells us in God's Word. And that word
enmity is the harshest sense of enemy. It's not just, well,
I don't like this. It's, I hate this. That's what
the Word of God is to natural man. I will not have this one
rule over me. That's the enmity of God's Word
against natural man. The Word of God is, no unregenerate
carnal man can call him No unregenerate carnal man can call Him this
with our natural dead heart. The truth of God is eminent to
you with natural man. Only a God-given heart will bend
the knee and believe that Christ is Lord. If thou wilt, he said,
thou canst make me clean. If you're willing, is what he's
saying, that's bowing the knee to his lordship. Thy will be
done, is what he's saying. And then he, by God-given faith,
declares Christ to be able. In Matthew 8, we continue on,
verse 3, and Jesus put forth his hand and touched him, saying,
I will be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was
cleansed. As the omnipotent, all-powerful,
sovereign God, he, the Lord Jesus, is able to do what he is willing
and has purposed to do. Matthew 8, verses 5 and 6. And
when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion
beseeching him, and saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick
of the palsy, grievously tormented. So he's come to the Lord as the
two that we saw in our text tonight, the man and the woman. with a
need, a need of a servant. In verse 7 on page 5, and Jesus
said unto him, I will come and heal him. And the centurion answered
and said, now listen to this, he says, Lord, I am not worthy
that thou shouldest come under my roof. Now we know that we
are in the same boat as that, don't we? We've been given a
heart to know the depth of our depravity. Folks, we must come
to know how deeply depraved, how dead we were in trespasses
and sin before we can look to the One who gives life. But He's
got to give us life that we would know that and look to Him. It
always starts with Him. It always starts with Him in
the beginning and it goes to Him all the way to the end. He
said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come into my roof,
but speak the word, and my servant. shall be healed." Here's a man
who had great faith in who this man, the Lord Jesus, is and was. He had faith in what he had heard
of this man that he was able to. He was able to by the power
of His Word. That's what the Bible teaches
you and I, is that by the power of God's Word, through the power
of His Word, through the preaching of His Gospel, it is the power
of salvation to God's people. He calls us out of the darkness
that we once walked in through the preaching of His gospel,
the simple gospel of Christ and Him crucified. But speak the
word only, and my servant shall be healed. For I am a man under
authority, he says, having soldiers. This is verse 9. And under me,
and I say to this man, go. And he goeth. And to the another
cometh. And he cometh. And to thy servant
do this, and he doeth it. Again, we see a man who in his
natural state would not and could not seek after the true and living
God. As it is written, there is none
righteous, no, not one. There is none that understandeth.
There is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of
the way. They are together become unprofitable. There is none that doeth good,
no, not one. Their throat is an open sepulcher,
and their tongues they have used to seek. With their tongues they've
used deceit, the poison of wrath is under their lips. Whose mouth
is full of cursing and bitterness, their feet are swift as shed
blood. Destruction and misery are in their ways. And the way
of peace have they not known? There is no fear of God before
their eyes." That's in Romans 3, 10-18. In this man's natural state,
he too, like all mankind, was dead in trespasses and sin. And
the Lord came to him in the day of his power, in the day of his
love, and revealed that he was walking in darkness, unable and
unwilling to seek after Christ Jesus. I was once blind, but
now I see, was the words of the hymnist. Yet Christ came to save
sinners. He came that there would be life
to the people of God. He is merciful to whom He will
have mercy upon. The 10th verse of Matthew 8,
we go on, When Jesus heard it, He marveled and said unto them
that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found So great
faith, no, not in Israel. Isn't that something? Pastor
Gene and I were talking about this this morning. This is the
Word of God that brings so much comfort, so much comfort to my
pastor, and that is to know that the faith that God has given
us is great faith because it's faith in the one who is great. There's nothing about John Reeves.
There's nothing about Gene Harman that is great. But that gift
that God has given us to believe is the gift to believe in His
Son who is the greatest of all. What a wonderful statement back
to the last paragraph, page 5. These three men and the woman
and many, many more, so many more that they cannot be numbered
shall come to have this remarkable faith and a remarkable Savior. We read in John 6, 37-40, All
that the Father giveth me shall come to me, and him that cometh
to me I will in no wise cast out. For I came down from heaven
not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.
And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that all
which he hath given me I should lose nothing." Now, I want to
stop there for just a moment. Brother David Edmondson brought
this out. He said, if the Father hath given
something to the Son, and I'm not quoting his exact words,
but this is kind of the point he was making from the pulpit
when he was there. If the Father hath given some people to his
Son, and the Son had paid their price, Who's going to take them
away from them? How can anything that belongs
to God be taken away from it? He shall lose nothing, back in
our text again, but should raise it up again at the last day.
And this is the will of Him that sent me, that everyone which
seeth the Son, and believeth on Him, may have everlasting
life. and I will raise Him up to last
day." Page 6. We're talking about a wonderful
Savior. I'm telling you about my wonderful
Savior. This One who is so wonderful. Because by grace, He has loved
me from before the world was. Without question, top of page
6, the Man who performed these wonders of mercy is the all-powerful
God. All power is His, as we read
in Matthew 28, 18-20. And Jesus came and spake unto
them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and on earth.
Go ye therefore and teach all nations. This is our profession. Christ has all power. He's God
in the flesh. He's God humbling Himself to
be a servant. To be a servant to His people.
Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the
name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, teaching
them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you. And lo,
I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen. He
who is God our Savior has power over all flesh. That's what we
read in John 17, 2. As thou hast given him power
over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many
as thou hast given him. He's got power over everything,
folks! He's God! If He doesn't have power over
everything, you can't call Him God! No, He's just a figment
of our imagination. But this One, who we read about
in Scriptures, He created all that is. He works all things
out according to His own counsel. He is God, our Savior, and He
has all power over all events. Look at that in Romans 8, 28.
And we know that all things work together for the good to them
that love God, to them who are called according to His purpose. How do we know? We know because
He's God. He's sovereign. Oh, how I wish
the world would hear these words, but they don't. And you and I
would not have either if it had not been for God's grace in giving
us faith to believe His Word. He that is our God is the God
of salvation, and unto God the Lord belong the issues of death.
That's Psalm 6820. Isn't that wonderful words? The last part of our text says
this. And the fame hereof went abroad into all the land." The
fame of what? The fame of these two believed
and sought after Him? Was that what went out into all
the world around? The fame that they were healed
by Him? Is that the fame that went out
into all the land? Remember what I read to you in
the beginning, back in John. I told you, said the Lord, when
they asked, how long do you make us to doubt? He said, I told
you, and ye believed not. And then he said these words,
the works that I do in my Father's name, they bear witness of me. That's important. That's very
important. What do these works bear witness
of? What are these works bear witness of? They bear witness
that this man is God manifest in the flesh. That's what they
bear witness of. What is the important fame that
went into all the land? Is that this is God. Not everyone
heard, folks. Are you hearing the grace? Are
you hearing of God's grace here? Not everybody heard these words. Most of them, that's all they
heard was, oh, these two believed and therefore they were healed.
They didn't hear this, that's God Almighty in the flesh standing
there doing that. That's God doing what He had
purposed from before the world was. They didn't hear this, that
that's the Almighty God who created everything that is. and is merciful
to whom He will be merciful to. What do these works bear witness
of? They bear witness of His power to forgive sin. What? Look over at the same... We just read this the other day,
but I want to go back and look at it again. Look over at verses
1-7 of chapter 9 in Matthew. In verses 1 of chapter 9 we read,
And he entered into a ship, and passed over, and came into his
own city. And, behold, they brought to
him a man sick with palsy, lying on a bed. And Jesus, seeing their
face, said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, be of good cheer,
thy sins be forgiven. And, behold, certain of the scribes
said within themselves, they didn't even say it out loud,
they just spoke it in their hearts, they had the thought in their
mind, and said within themselves, this man blasphemeth, and Jesus,
knowing their thoughts, said this, Wherefore think ye evil
in your hearts? For whether it is easier to say,
Thy sins be forgiven thee, or to say, Arise and walk. Now check this out, verse 6.
But that ye may know that the Son of Man hath power on earth
to forgive sins. This is what these works that
Christ is doing has been all along. everything, all of the
healings that he's done, all of the raising from the dead,
Lazarus, bringing Lazarus back from the dead, this child of
this ruler of the synagogue, bringing his daughter back to
life, all of these things are a witness to what? They're a
witness to the power of God in forgiving sins. But that ye may
know that the Son of Man hath power on earth to forgive sins,
and then saith he to the sick of the palsy, arise, take up
thy bed, and go unto thine house. And guess what happened next?
You don't have to guess. It's right there in verse 7 for
us. And he arose and departed to his house. What are the works
of God Almighty? What are these works that the
Lord Jesus did? What are they a witness to? They're
a witness to His power and the ability to forgive us of our
sins. Folks, He is so powerful that
death could not hold Him. Do you understand the depth of
grace that our God died? I know we can't understand that. I know we can't understand God,
the Creator, He who could not die. We know that He became flesh,
that He could die, and He did. Do we understand the depth of
grace in Him giving His own life for His people? That's a love
that we can only pray for in this world. I pray that I could
be that loving to my wife, to my family, to my children, to
you. All these things bear witness that the Lord Jesus Christ has
the power to forgive. Page 7, let His fame go abroad
into all the earth. Hebrews 10 verses 14 through
17, for by one offering he hath perfected forever. This is my
profession, for by one offering he hath perfected them that are
sanctified. Whereof the Holy Ghost also is
a witness to us, for after that he had said before, this is the
covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith
the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their
minds will I write them. and their sins and iniquities
will I remember no more. That's what I want the earth
to know. That's what I want to proclaim every time the Lord
allows me to stand before you or anyone else. That's what I
want to go out on recordings into the world that wherever
God may take them. My faith has found a resting
place. Not in device or creed. Nothing
in a device in me or a creed of my saying. I trust the ever
living one. His wounds for me shall plead. A sinful soul, I come to him. He'll never cast me out. Enough
for me that Jesus saves. This ends my fear and doubt. My heart is leaning on the word,
the written word of God. Salvation by my Savior's name,
salvation through His blood. My great Physician heals the
sick, the lost He came to save. For me His precious blood He
shed, for me His life He gave. And I want to close with these
words, and I close every message I give from now to the time the
Lord takes me out of this world with these words from 1 Corinthians
1, 30-31, But of Him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made
unto us wisdom, He's my wisdom, and righteousness, He's my righteousness,
and sanctification, He's my holiness. And redemption, He's redeemed
me to His Father, the God Almighty, that according as it is written,
He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord. Amen.
