Psalm 110

In the sermon titled "The Lord & His People," Paul Mahan addresses the theological doctrines surrounding the deity of Christ as highlighted in Psalm 110. Central to his argument is the claim that Jesus, identified as both Lord and God, fulfills the prophetic declaration of Psalm 110:1, where God instructs the Messiah to sit at His right hand until His enemies are made a footstool. Mahan utilizes several Scripture references, including Isaiah 43 and John 8:24, to emphasize that true knowledge of God comes exclusively through Jesus Christ, and that any assertion denying His divinity is a misunderstanding of Scripture. He underscores the practical significance of understanding Christ’s lordship, positing that recognizing Jesus as God is essential to authentic faith and salvation, asserting that one's acknowledgment of Jesus' rightful place as Lord reflects true belief and discipleship. Mahan stresses that salvation and true knowledge of God are gifts revealed by Christ, challenging listeners to boldly proclaim the truth of Jesus' divinity in a world filled with false teachings.

What does the Bible say about the deity of Christ?

The Bible affirms the deity of Christ, stating He is God manifest in the flesh and deserving of worship.

The deity of Christ is a central tenet of Scripture, particularly emphasized in passages such as John 1:1, which declares, 'In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.' Additionally, Hebrews 1:3 states, 'Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person,' reinforcing that Jesus is not merely a man but God Himself revealed to humanity. When Thomas addressed Jesus as 'My Lord and my God' (John 20:28), it confirms the recognition of Christ’s divine nature. This understanding is crucial in historic Reformed theology, which insists on the full divinity of Christ, ensuring that true worship and salvation are grounded in the acknowledgment of Him as God.

John 1:1, Hebrews 1:3, John 20:28

What does the Bible say about the deity of Christ?

The Bible declares that Jesus Christ is fully God, as affirmed in numerous scriptures, including John 1:1 and Colossians 2:9.

The deity of Christ is a central tenet in Scripture, with passages such as John 1:1 affirming that 'the Word was God.' Hebrews 1:3 describes Jesus as 'the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person,' demonstrating that He possesses the divine nature. Additionally, Isaiah 9:6 calls Him 'Mighty God,' underscoring His status as fully divine, while John 8:24 emphasizes the necessity of believing in Him as God to avoid dying in our sins. Therefore, the New Testament consistently confirms that Jesus is not merely a prophet or messenger, but God incarnate who has revealed the Father to us.

Why is it important for Christians to know Jesus is Lord?

Knowing Jesus as Lord establishes the foundation of a believer's faith and frees them from the bondage of sin.

Recognizing Jesus as Lord is fundamental for Christians because it shapes their entire understanding of faith, salvation, and relationship with God. Romans 10:9 states, 'If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.' This declaration not only affirms His divine authority but also indicates the transformative power of acknowledging Him as sovereign over one’s life. It signifies that salvation is not merely a matter of personal acceptance but involves a recognition of Christ’s lordship over all creation, which is central to the concept of sovereign grace. Moreover, the acknowledgment of Jesus as Lord leads Christians to worship Him correctly and live in accordance with His will, resulting in a life that honors God and reflects His glory.

Romans 10:9

Why is understanding the Trinity important for Christians?

Understanding the Trinity is essential as it encapsulates the nature of God as one being in three persons, crucial for grasping salvation and worship.

The doctrine of the Trinity is foundational to the Christian faith because it reveals the complex nature of God as one being existing in three distinct persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. This understanding is not only theological but practical; it informs our worship, as seen in John 5:23, where Jesus states that all men should honor the Son even as they honor the Father. Recognizing the equality and distinct roles of each Person of the Trinity safeguards our understanding of salvation, which is through Christ alone. As 1 John 5:7 notes, 'there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.' Thus, grasping the Trinity deepens our relationship with God and enriches our worship.

John 5:23, 1 John 5:7, Deuteronomy 6:4

How do we know that salvation is from the Lord?

Scripture teaches that salvation is entirely from the Lord, as it is He who initiates and completes the work of redemption.

The doctrine of salvation being from the Lord is thoroughly supported through various Scriptures which depict God as the sole author of salvation. Jonah 2:9 states, 'Salvation is of the Lord,' indicating that it is not dependent on human effort but entirely on God’s grace and initiative. Ephesians 2:8-9 reinforces this by declaring that we are saved by grace through faith, not of ourselves; it is the gift of God. Historical Reformed theology emphasizes that this grace is irresistible and effective, ensuring that all whom God has chosen will come to faith and ultimately be redeemed. This perspective draws from the covenantal promise seen throughout Scripture where God commits to saving His people, underscoring His sovereignty in the salvation process.

Jonah 2:9, Ephesians 2:8-9

How do we know that salvation is completely of the Lord?

Salvation is entirely of the Lord as scripture teaches that it is His sovereign work, as stated in Jonah 2:9.

Salvation is depicted in the Scriptures as a work solely initiated and completed by God, which is deeply rooted in the doctrine of sovereignty. As Jonah 2:9 asserts, 'Salvation is of the Lord,' indicating that it is not attained through human effort or decision but is a divine gift. This concept is echoed in Ephesians 2:8-9, highlighting that we are saved by grace through faith, emphasizing that it is God's grace, not our works, that leads to salvation. Furthermore, the sovereignty of God ensures that He calls, justifies, and glorifies His people as outlined in Romans 8:30. This underscores that our faith rests not in our actions, but solely on the finished work of Christ.

Psalm 110 now. Thank you, Sally. Thank you, John. Go back to Psalm 110. As we pray, may the Lord, the zeal of His house, eat us up. The zeal of His honor and His glory, while many dishonor our Lord deny his person and his work, so many, some blatantly and some subtly. Verse 1 is written three times in the Psalms. Our Lord quoted this in response to so many questions by Pharisees and lawyers and so forth. Verse 1, said unto my Lord, sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool." The Lord, as I said, quoted this to those who were questioning him. They asked him many questions, and he answered them all from Scripture, so well, so much so, that they were amazed by his answers. Then he said, asked them one question. And he said, what think ye of Christ? And this is the question of all questions. Whose son is he? Remember that? Three times. And they said he's the son of David. And then he quoted this. He said, if he's the son of David, why does David say, the Lord said unto my Lord, sit thou at my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool? If he's David's son, how can he be David's Lord? And nobody could answer him. And they can't answer that now. This is still the question. You know that? His true people know him. His true people. The title of this message is the Lord and His people. His true people know who He is. His chosen ones. Isaiah 43. We're going to look at some Scriptures you know well and love well. We're so blessed to know these Scriptures, to love these Scriptures. A few do. But Isaiah 43. God's true people know Him. Why? Well, the Lord said, no man knoweth the Son, but who? The Father. And neither knoweth any man the Father, go ahead, but the Son. And He to whom the Son will reveal Him. Didn't He say that? Nobody can know God except through Jesus Christ. No man hath seen God at any time, nor can see God. Is that not right? Is that what the scriptures say? Now these are the scriptures that those who deny the deity, the Godhood of the Lord Jesus Christ use. These are the scriptures. And yet they don't know the other scriptures. They've got a few pet verses that they use to try to deny that our Lord Jesus Christ is God. Okay? No man hath seen God at any time. Well, Job said. What did Job say? I'm going to see God, isn't it, with mine eyes, in my place. Did He? Yes, He did. Who did He see? Go ahead. Who did He see? Say it! Our Lord said to His chosen disciples, whom do men say that I am? Whom do men say that I, the Son of Man am? Jesus. Who do you say that I am? Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. And when Thomas, you know, our Lord said, He swore that every knee shall bow, didn't He? And every tongue confess, every knee bow to who? The Lord, Jehovah, God, didn't He? Thomas bowed his knee to Jesus Christ. And what did he call Him? My Lord and my God. He revealed himself. He hid. Isaiah 45, 13, I believe it is, I wrote it down somewhere, says that thou art a God that hidest thyself. We preached the whole message on that. He hid himself. The Pharisees, the lawyers, the doctors, nobody knew who he was. They thought it was just Jesus. And nobody does know who he is until he reveals himself. And his disciples were all, he was leaving and his disciples were troubled and, and show us the way. He said, I am the way. Philip said, show us the Father. You remember what he said? Now these detractors, these deniers of Lord Jesus Christ, they know Isaiah 9, 6. They know that verse because they've come to my door. And I quoted it to them and said, we know the word. It's like they don't like it. And thus a child is born, a son is given. His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father. The Prince of Faith. The Mighty God, the Everlasting Father. Philip, have I been so long time with you, yet thou hast not known me? He that hath seen me hath seen thee, father." Say what he said. He said in John 5, 23, He said, All men should honor the Son as they honor the Father. He that honors not the Son honors not the Father. Why? They're equal. They're both God. I'm not trying to prove Him. I'm declaring Him to you. And you know these things, don't you? Because this is life eternal. This is not just correct doctrine. This is not a difference in doctrine. This is a difference in knowing who God is. He said in John 8, 24, if you believe not that I am, you'll die in your sins. He did and said things only God can do and say. Even his enemies said, no man who can forgive sins but God. He was constantly forgiving sins. The woman, the man sick of the palsy. Only God can do that. Isaiah 43, now, bless His holy name. He's revealed Himself unto us and our children, at least in their heads. And this is life eternal. Know Thee, the only true God. You see, there's some most believe in a God that's not God. But now thus saith the Lord that created Thee, O Jacob. Who created Jacob? God did. Who? Jesus Christ did. Without Him was not anything made, it was made. Right? Fear not. How often did our Lord say fear not? The Lord Jesus Christ. I have redeemed Him. Who redeemed Him? Who's the Redeemer? What's His name? Jesus Christ. The Lord our Redeemer. How did He redeem us? With His precious blood. We see that God can't die. 1 Peter 5, feed the church of God which he purchased with his own blood. The blood of God? Yes. I don't understand. No, you don't. Great is the mystery of Godness. Can you quote the rest of it? Go ahead. Come on now. Great is the mystery of godliness. God was manifest in the flesh. God was manifest in the flesh. Say it. God was manifest in the flesh. Remember that. 1 Timothy 3.16. Everybody knows John 3.16. I want you to know 1 Timothy 3.16. Great is the mystery of godliness. God was manifest in the flesh. What's that mean? God became a man. You'd have to be blind not to see that. They are. You'd have to be a rebel not to believe it. They are. You're lost if you don't believe that. They are. And so are those who say, Jesus has done all he can, and I say to you, That's a God that can't save. It's not the Jesus Christ of Scripture. That's another Jesus. It came and tried and failed and you've got to make it a picture. That's a lie. That's blasphemy. That's just as bad as Jehovah's Witnesses. Just as bad. You understand me? Anybody that says, let go and let God, let God in your life, make Him Lord, doesn't know Him. They don't know Him. Who made Jesus Christ Lord? When? Psalm 2, long before this world began, God made Jesus Christ Lord. I don't understand. No, we don't, but we know this much. The Son of God has come and given us an understanding that we know Him that is true. True what? The true God. God manifested the blood. You see, God gets all the glory. With man, it's impossible. Salvation is of the Lord. What Lord? Salvation is of the Lord. What Lord? Who's Lord? Well, God is. That's right. Is Jesus Christ Lord? Yes, He is. But the Lord our God is one God. Deuteronomy 6. 4. Deuteronomy 6. 4. The Lord our God is one God. That's right. One Lord, one faith, one Baptist. And John says, 1 John 5, there's three, and these three are what? One. He's hid these things from the wise. We need to rejoice. You need to start laughing with me. He's revealed himself to us and our children. And this is life eternal. If he's not God, Look, did you, did I read anything? Isaiah 43. Let's keep reading. This is so wonderful. It's not my text, but yes it is. The whole Bible is our text then. It says, verse 3, I am the Lord thy God, the Holy One of Israel. How many times do they talk about the Holy One of Israel? Sister, how many times do we talk about the Holy One of Israel? God and the Holy One of Israel. Which is He talking about? Both. They're one. Though distinct, you can't say separate persons because they're one. They're never separate. When He was on earth, He said the Son of Man is in the bosom of the Father. Not was, is. How can that be? It just is. He just is. What's His name? I Am. What? That I Am. You see, you can't describe God. And we don't try to prove God. He proves Himself. He declares Himself. We're just declaring Him. We're declaring the Scriptures. And I'm not arguing with these people or trying to... I'm just... The Lord said, let the potsherds strive with the potsherds of the earth. But for your sake, laying these foundations of Scripture. It's all built on one person. Who? Jesus Christ, the foundation. He's the rock. Who's the rock? Authors of Scripture. I have a whole message on that. I haven't gotten to it yet. The rock. The rock. The stone. Look at verse 8. Bring forth the blind people that have eyes and the deaf that have ears. Who healed the blind? Who healed the deaf? Who raised the dead? Our Lord said, The Father hath life in himself, the Son hath life in himself. The Father quickeneth whom He will. He said, The Son quickeneth whom He will. John said, We beheld life, that life. In Him we live, and who and how are we? Who? God. Yeah, Jesus Christ. Look at verse 10. You are my witnesses, saith the Lord, Jehovah. My servant. When Jesus Christ sent out the disciples, He sent them to bear witness of who? Him. Go make disciples in My name. I told you about that sign. Maybe you've seen it. It's everywhere. Don't call them Jehovah's Witnesses. They're Russellites. They're followers of, that began, a man named Charles Russell began that false religion. And a woman's involved. You know a woman's involved. They're Russellites. That's their proper name. They're proselytizers. They don't know God. None of them know. But they go door to door. They're not witnessing of Jehovah. They're not trying to exalt God. They're trying to denounce Jesus Christ. They put this sign up everywhere. First time I saw it, it made me exceedingly angry. Big black sign with white letters says, Jesus is not God. And underneath it says, Scriptures do not say that he was in heaven before. The exact opposite is true. Do you know, I went right before Oak Level and that sharp curve is that big sign. I just went there Monday and somebody had taken black paint And blacked out, not. Jesus. Jesus is God. See, I wanted to do it. I did. And underneath, Scriptures does not say He existed before in Heaven. They blacked out those words. Scriptures say He existed in Heaven. They do, over and over again. He said, You're from beneath. I'm from above, didn't he say that? And anybody that confesses that Jesus Christ is not coming to flesh, is not of God, is a false prophet. What's that mean? Well, I came here tonight, didn't I? Did I exist before I came here? I have to be before I come here. Okay? That means He existed before. A child is born. But the sign is given. And they use... Look at Hebrews 1. Hebrews 1 with me. They use these scriptures. I want you to know these things. I want you to be able to give an answer. Hebrews 1. And you need not really turn anywhere but Hebrews 1. You know? Genesis 1. John 1. It all declares who he is, doesn't it? Genesis 1, the beginning, God spoke the word. Let us make man in our image, us. They say he's one God. He is one. These three persons equal. That's why he said, let us make man. Who? God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Without the Son was not anything made with man. And for that matter, without the Holy Spirit. Right? They're equal. I quoted it to you. He thought it not robbery, Philippians 2, to be equal with God. Equal with God means he's God. Doesn't it? And again, I'm saying, you know, and that's a cult. And so is Mormons and most people think that they are a cult, but so is false religion. The Methodists, the Baptists, the Presbyterians, the Catholics, Episcopalians, Trinitarians, all these that say, make Jesus Lord, let him into your heart. Let God be God. God is my co-pilot. And I accepted Jesus. They don't know Him. That's not the God of the Bible. It's a different God. That's just as blasphemous as the Jehovah Witness saying He's not God. They don't know God. They don't know Jesus Christ. They don't. They would never say that. Nobody in Scripture has ever said those things. Not one single person who met the Lord Jesus Christ said, I let Him in my heart. I accepted Him. Not one. Because that's not salvation. Salvation is when He comes to you and reveals Himself to you as He is. You know what you'll do? Like Saul of Tarsus, you'll hit the dirt. The fear of the Lord. They didn't fear Jesus. They don't fear Him now. But when you find out He's Lord, You'll fear him, and you'll call him that from then on. I'm not mad at anybody. But do not I hate them that hate thee. Yea, I hate them with a perfect hatred. David said that in Psalm 139. I consider them mine enemies. If they blaspheme my God and go on door to door to denounce and dishonor my Lord Jesus Christ, Vengeance is His. He will repay. Hebrews 12, 29 says, Our God is a consuming fire. Doesn't it say that? What's the description of Jesus Christ in Revelation 1? What does 2 Thessalonians 1 say? That He's going to come with flaming fire and vengeance against them that know not, in a way, not the gospel. Isn't that what it says? He's God. And we worship Him as such. And those same people say, are you an idolater? It says that on that sign going to 220. Are you an idolater? If worshiping Jesus Christ is idolatry, then I'm an idolater. And it's true. If He's not God, we're idolaters. But look at Hebrews 1, alright? You need not turn anywhere else. I've quoted you scripture after scripture. But you need not go anywhere else to answer anybody that asks you. Verse 1, God at sundry times in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophet. Hath in these last days spoken unto us by son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds. How could he not exist before? How could he make the world if he didn't exist then? Christ has made unto us wisdom. Where does it talk about wisdom? Proverbs 8. What does it say? Do you know those scriptures? You need to know them. He said, I was with him in the beginning before the mountains were brought forth. I was daily his delight as one brought up with him. Doesn't it say that? And he said, My joy, I rejoiced in the habitable parts of the earth. Every time someone on earth saw God, and they said so. There were several that saw Him. Moses saw Him in the burning bush, didn't he? He talked to the Lord, didn't he? Who's that? The Lord Jesus Christ on the crucifier. Isn't that right? Abraham. The Lord came. Yes, the Lord God came. and spoke to Abraham, and he worshipped him, bowed down to him, pleaded with him. He said, did not the judge of the earth do right? He was talking to Jesus Christ. And Jesus Christ is the one who went and destroyed Sodom. The same one is going to destroy this world. Manoah and his wife. Remember that message? Manoah and his wife. The angel of the Lord descended And into the sacrifice? A mere angel can't touch that sacrifice. That was Jesus Christ. And went up in the flame, the sacrifice was accepted by God, and Christ went up in that flame, showing us Christ's burnt offering accepted by God into heaven, and Manoah said, I'm going to die, I've seen God. Isn't that great? Yeah, he did. He saw Jesus Christ. Isn't this wonderful? That's his name. Verse 3, the brightness of his glory, the express image of his person. In him dwelleth all the, what? Fullness of what? The Godhead, what? There you go. Do you need any more? Well, there's more. The express image of his person. That's why he's called the Son of God. Not because he's less than God. Not because he had a beginning when he came here. No, no, no. No beginning or end. He said in Revelation 1, I'm first, I'm the last. He said, I'm the beginning and the end. Didn't he say that, Sally? He said it to you. He didn't say it to all those millions of Russellites. Aren't we blessed? He said, they don't know me. You know me. Who? From where? See, he revealed himself to those Galileans, those poor fishermen, Mary Magdalene, the thief on the cross. What did the thief on the cross say? Lord. First words out of his mouth when he realized who that is hanging on the cross. Lord. He couldn't bow his knee, but he was. Mercy. Three, when he by himself purged our sins. Salvation is of the Lord. That's Jonah 2.9, isn't it Mary? Jonah 2.9. Mary memorized that. Of what Lord? Well, that's capital L, capital O, capital R, D in Jonah 2.9. That's Jesus Christ. When he had by himself purged our sins. Sat down on the right hand of the majesty on high. Being made, now here's what they use. Being made so much better than the angel. They say, see, he was made. They take that scripture. See, he had a beginning right there. Know that in the volume of the book it is written of him, lo, I come to do thy will. A body hast thou prepared me. Did you hear that? A body hast thou prepared me. Meaning he was before he took that body. And really, He Himself prepared His own body. In Philippians 2, it says, He made Himself. He took upon Him the likeness. He took upon Himself the likeness of sinful flesh. Made of a woman. Made under the law. Born of a woman. Made under the law. See, that means He... No, it just means He had... See, and the children were like Him. He took part of the same. That's Hebrew. Helen, you know these things, don't you? You're so bad. Mary knew them. Your mother. Lots of Marys know the Lord, don't they? They know who He is. Unto which of the angels, verse 5, said He, Thou art my Son, this day I have begotten thee. I will be to him a father, he shall be to me a son. And again, when He bringeth in the first begotten into the world, begotten, meaning the only bodily existence of God. Look at this, verse 6. Let all the angels of God worship Him. But God said, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and Him only shalt thou serve. Didn't He say that? But God said, Worship the Son. And of the angel, he saith, who maketh his angel spirits, his ministers a flame of fire. But unto the Son, he saith, thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever. A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of thy kingdom. Now go back to Psalm 110. So who is Jesus Christ? He's God. manifest in the flesh. We call him Lord because that's who he is. And that's what he said to his disciples, didn't he? You call me Lord and Master. And you say, well, for so I am. The Pharisees and Sadducees and all those doctors and lawyers, they knew that name I am. And they said to him, in John 8, they said, you're not even 50 years old. Have you seen our father Abraham? Do you remember what he said? Barely, barely. With emphasis. Barely, barely. I say unto you, before Abraham was, I am. They all got stones to stone him. You're not God. Yes, he is. Yes, he is, too. If he's not God, we're idolaters. If he's not God, we're all lost. This is all a waste of time, what we're doing. If he is God, those that don't worship him are idolaters. Those that don't bow are idolaters. Look at this. Let me get to verse 3. The Lord shall send the rod of thy strength. That's the ruling scepter of his strength, the scepter of righteousness. Psalm 45 speaks of the King. Who's the King? Who's the King? David's talking about the King, talking about God's King. Who's the King? Who's the King? Well, he has on his name in Revelation a name, King of Kings and Lord of Lords. 2. Rule thou in the midst of thine enemies. He's the ruler. Verse 3, now here it is. The Lord, that's the Lord. The Lord Jesus Christ. God manifesting the flesh. Came to redeem his people. And I want to keep going with this because I'm loving every minute of it. In Isaiah 25 it says, it shall be said in that day. It talks about the Lord in this mountain making a feast of things to his people. What Christ make a feast of? Himself. And it should be said in that day, Isaiah 25 now, this is our God that we've waited on. This is our God. He'll save us. That's what we say, Todd. Our God has come and he has saved us. And on and on in Isaiah, it says these things. But verse 3, now that's the Lord. Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power. Willing to do what? To bow. To confess. Every knee will. And every tongue confess. Boy, can you imagine how reluctantly? These millions that went everywhere to try to denounce this person. They're hanging their head. Say it! Say it! He's Lord. He's God. Now cast them in outer darkness. And every tongue can fear Him. At the name of Jesus, what should we call Him? Lord. To the glory of the Father. He said in John 17, Father, glorify thou me with the glory which I had with thee from the beginning. Jesus did not exist before. They don't know him. They don't know the scriptures. Our Lord made those people so mad when he said, have you not read? The Pharisees took pride. The scribes, that's all they did all day long was copy scripture. He said, have you not read? Haven't you read this? No. If they have, He's hid these things from the white man's presence. He's blinded their mind. And our Lord said that. He said, I thank Thee, O Father, You've hid these things. Verse 3, Thy people shall be willing in the day of Thy power. Willing to do what? To bow to His Lordship. Willing to confess now. willing to believe. Why do we believe? Why does anybody believe that that man born in Bethlehem of a woman is God? Why? Because it's according to the working of His mighty power. Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power. You won't believe if they said believe. Saul of Tarsus is one of the greatest examples in all the Scriptures. You know who Saul of Tarsus is, don't you? He's Paul. He was more zealous of the law than any Pharisee. He knew the letter of the law more than anybody. And God taught him those things for a reason. He made him zealous to read the Scriptures so that later on he could quote them and know them better than anybody else. But then he's going to know really what it's all about. It's all about Christ. But Saul of Tarsus, he worshipped the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. He was zealous according to the law. The Ten Commandments was his rule of life. He was zealous. He went about persecuting those that didn't believe what he did. Okay? Nobody more zealous. And he was on his road to Damascus to do what he would. He thought he had free will. But he's on his way. And Jesus Christ surrounded him. The light surrounded him, shone round about him. He didn't see the light. The light shone round about him, encompassed him, laid hold of him. And he hit the dirt. It blinded him. You've got to be blind to see. And he blinded him. And you know what he said? Who art thou, Lord? I thought you knew the Lord, Saul. I'm going to do what I'm going to do to Jesus. That's what Saul thought. This is what I'm going to do to Jesus. I will not have this man reign over me. Yes, you will. When? In the day of his power. When he comes with this gospel, I'm preaching to you right now, that the world calls foolishness. It's the only way men and women know it and hear it. Through the foolishness of preaching. But this is what God has chosen. And if God opens blind eyes and deaf ears and breaks proud hearts and causes them, makes them willing in the day of His gospel power to do what? To bow the knee, to believe with the heart that Jesus Christ is all, not part of, not a part of my life, all my life. Not, you know, me and Jesus. No, no, no, no. Jesus only. Christ alone. Not my decision. His. Not my will. His. Not my choice. His. Not my work. His. Not what I do with His work. It's what He does with me. Not me accepting Him. Him accepting me. It's a different God, people. Do you understand that? Do you believe that? Then confess it to everybody you know. and don't back down an inch. Do you hear me? Your loved ones, say, tell it. Now, if Christ said, you deny me for this adulterous generation, I'll deny you before my Father. Any man that loved father, mother, husband, wife, son or daughter more than me is not my disciple. Now you go out there and tell them that that Jesus that they're believing is not Jesus Christ. Go out there and tell them the God they believe in, the God they let be God, is not God. Is that too hard? Christ said that. He said that. Isn't it? I'm just quoting to you what He said. Who would be ashamed of Him? Thy people shall be willing. They are willing to forsake father and mother, husband and wife, son or daughter, their own life also. for the glory and honor of the Lord Jesus Christ that saved them. And they're not going to compromise for anybody, not for all the riches in all the world, because they've got all the riches they need in Jesus Christ. That's right. Thy people shall be willing, in the day of His power, His power, willing to forsake, willing to follow, God's people don't follow anybody but Jesus Christ. Do they? God's people don't listen to anybody but Jesus Christ and those men that He sent that declare Him. They don't. They don't follow the world. God's people. His true people. No, they don't. They don't listen to the world. Did you hear what they said? I don't care. Isn't that what we should say? Brother, isn't that what we should say? Let God be true in what? That's scripture, people. Come on now. Our conversation is in heaven. I love you, son. And it needs to be that way. Our life needs to testify of who we really believe, who we follow, God's people. Thy people shall be willing to renounce, to denounce everybody and everything in this world. and follow Christ and His people and bear His reproach like Moses did. I'm not the son of Pharaoh's daughter. I'm not of Egypt. You can have it all. I'm going to follow these poor people. We've got our eyes on our Lord and our Savior. And I'm headed to the Promised Land. Without the camp. You know, the whole world. No, you can't be here. So few can't be here. right and everybody be wrong. They are. Always have been. Thy people shall be willing, the day of thy power, willing to walk by faith, not by sight. Well, look, see, look. I'm not going to believe. Satan sends strong delusion. God sends strong delusion. Doesn't it? Strong delusion. Eyes, ears, They're willing to walk by faith, not by sight. They're willing to live. Walk with the Lord. They're willing to die. They're willing to die. And they know who's going to take their life. It's not going to be a sickness. It's not going to be a disease. It's not going to be a bullet. It's not going to be a sword, though those might be the instrument. It's going to be God that's going to take their life. And they're willing to die. Into thy hands I commit my spirit." The day of his power. Is this the God you believe? Is this the Jesus Christ you trust and believe? Is it? Is it? Then you're one of his people. Fear not, thou worm, Jacob. I've chosen you, that you might know me, that I am he, and beside me there's no God. Who? Jesus Christ. Okay, stand with me.
