The Mind of Christ (Let This Mind Be In You)

Philippians 2
Paul Mahan August, 31 2025 Audio
0 Comments

The sermon titled "The Mind of Christ (Let This Mind Be In You)" by Paul Mahan focuses on the theological concept of humility as exemplified in Philippians 2. Mahan argues that true fellowship and consolation are found in recognizing the shared sufferings of believers in Christ and embracing the mindset of Christ, who exemplified perfect humility through His incarnation and sacrifice. He cites Philippians 2:1-8, emphasizing how Christ lowered Himself, becoming a servant and ultimately suffering for humanity's sake, as a model for believers to adopt a similar mindset in their relationships and community. The sermon highlights the significance of understanding one's identity in Christ, leading to unity among believers and a communal pursuit of God's glory over personal gain.

Go back to Philippians with me. Thank you, Brady, for reading,
praying for us. As I brought to our attention
Wednesday night, this letter is to believers, to the church. That's what it's written to.
All the epistles are to the church, to those who profess faith in
the Lord Jesus Christ. To others, those who do not,
Scripture has but one thing to say. Repent. Repent. The kingdom of heaven is at hand.
Whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Come,
come to Christ. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. Those same things he says to
believers also. Repent, call, believe. You remember we have been looking
at fellowship. Fellowship of believers. Fellowship of the gospel. That's
how it begins. Paul thanked the Lord for the
fellowship in the gospel of the church, as I do for you, for
us, what we have here. All of God's people have been
chosen to be put in Christ. We looked at that illustration
of a ship. It's a good illustration of that.
Being put into Christ. And we all go through the same
trials and troubles and conflicts. I say all that because verse
1 of chapter 2 begins, if therefore there be any consolation in Christ. You think of consolation as something
you get from loss. You've lost something and you've
been consoled. And, you know, in sports or any
kind of competition, if you lose, you might get a consolation prize,
right? Well, this is not a mere consolation
prize. It does have to do with loss.
Look at verse 29 of chapter 1. It leads into chapter 2, you
see. Chapter 1, verse 29 says, unto
you is given in behalf of Christ not only to believe on him, but
also to suffer for his sake. Verse 30, having the same conflict
you saw in me. was put in jail in Philippi. And that's how the Lord started
the church there. But they saw him persecuted.
And he said, all that believe the truth will be persecuted,
all who believe Christ, all whom he calls to himself. Like those
men in a ship, they're called out of the world to be put in
that ship, they're called away from their homes and family,
every single A man on board a ship has to leave his home and his
family, right? And that ship becomes their life. The captain and the crew, that's
their life. They're no longer taken up with
the things of the world. They all have one goal, don't
they? One desire. Make it the other
side. That's a good illustration of
it. Now that's what it is in Christ. Verse 21, Paul says,
for me to live is Christ. And every believer, every believer, there's no exception.
Paul said, I want to win Christ, be found in him. David said,
one thing if I desire, that's what I'm seeking after. I may
dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, behold
the beauty of the Lord, and inquire in his... That's in every believer.
That's every believer's desire. It really is. It really is. It's
not something you merely want, but it's something you really
do have. That's a fact. You love Christ. It's a marriage.
So if you don't have that, ask the Lord to give it to you. He
will give you His love for him. But that's what leads into chapter
2. You see that? If there be therefore
any consolation, console over loss. And there's no true loss
for God's people. If you gain the whole world,
and lose your soul. No, that's loss. Isn't that what
our Lord said? And He said there's no one who
has left home and family and husband and wife, children and
all that, for my sake and the gospel, that they won't receive
a hundredfold in this time. You don't lose. You don't lose. The fact is we're going to lose
everything in this life. If we don't have Christ who is
life, we will lose our life. But if you have Christ, you don't
lose. Oh, no, no, no, no. Paul said, I've suffered the
loss of all things, chapter 3. But it's just dung. It's dung. It's refuse. It's all vanity. That's what the Scripture says.
It doesn't satisfy it. It promises what it can't give.
People try these things to make them happy and give them peace
and security. It won't do it. That's only found
in Christ, isn't it? It really is. You can lose your
life. Here's the paradox. You can lose your life for Christ's
sake and find it. Real life. Life more abundant. Forsake all and gain eternity. Someday death. It's not loss at all. It's to
leave this world full of sin, sorrow, sadness, suffering, evil,
and gain, eternal life, peace, joy, unspeakable, full of glory,
happiness, peace forevermore, glory. That's loss. It's great gain. Do you at least
understand that in your head? No loss. And it's all in Christ. It's all for those in Christ.
Okay? Verse 1 again. If there's any
comfort, any consolation, any comfort of love, any fellowship
of the Spirit, any bowels of mercy, any, any, is there any? He's not saying, why don't you
have any? He's saying if you have any,
just a little bit, then you've got salvation. You've got a gift. We're all
in this world. We're all tempted by it. The
Lord knows our frame. Children of Israel, all of them
were passing through the world and all of them were tempted
by it and many of them were enticed by it and wanted to go back. And we're all in this world.
He knows that. It's like gravity. The flesh and these things have
a pull, a downward pull. But grace is much stronger than
gravity. That'd be a good title to the
next one. Grace, not gravity. Not sin. He said sin will not
have dominion over you. Temptation. If there's any comfort of love,
what love? Love of God. Love of God. You know that all love comes
from God. God is love. If it weren't for God, we'd all
kill each other a long time ago. You know that? Anybody loves
their child or husband or whomever, whatever, that's from God. It
really is. All love is of God, but the love
of God for His people in Christ. Now, it's in spite of you. It is greater love than, it's
unspeakable. It's in spite of you. He didn't
love you because of you. He chose to love you. And if
He chose you, there's nothing in you for Him to love. If He
chose to love you, you are loved and will be loved and nothing
will ever change that. Don't you love that? Now that's
consolation. There are people who say they
love you. And we've had people all our lives that say they love
us and leave us. And that's the most painful thing
you can ever experience, is it not? Not God. Here's the consolation. Everybody may leave you. Not
Him. Any consolation there? Oh, God's people, they all, you
know. And we're all going to lose our mates. We're going to
lose our children. We're going to lose our family.
We're going to end up maybe in a nursing home. And we feel all
alone. And nobody loves us. Nobody cares
for us. Oh, yes, there is. The only one that matters. Any consolation there? Oh, it's
not loss. Better to have God love you than
nobody love you, everybody hate you, than everybody love you
and God hate you. Isn't it? That's a fact. Any
consolation there? Do you see that? Do you see that
that's the greatest consolation of all? Any comfort of love?
Any fellowship? Any fellowship? Do you have any?
Do you enjoy what we're doing right now? You're here, aren't
you? Some of you have been coming here a long time. We do one thing.
You're going to hear the same message. You can go tell people
like that fellow said about David Edmondson, a member of his church.
Somebody asked him, what did your preacher preach on this
Sunday? He said the same message he did
last week. He said, what? He said, yeah, he preaches the
same message every Sunday. What? And you're still there? Do you see that you have to love
Christ and this message to keep coming to do the only thing you
do? It's not the choir. It's not
the band. It sure ain't a good-looking
preacher. It's not any of these things.
It's not the festivities. It's not the fun. It's not the
food. It's not the family. This is family, isn't it? Is
this your family? Is it really? Some of you have
left home and family, haven't you? Yes, you have. Many of you
in here have left your home, your family. And some of your
family is not here today. Is this not your true family?
Huh? Can you not say that? Ruth left,
didn't she? She left everybody. Prospects
of a future husband, their home, their family, their gods, their
religion, left it all to go where God's people are, to be the true
God, be her God. And she met Boaz. Oh my, my,
my. She'd have never found a husband
like that in Moab. And you'll never find a husband
on this earth or a wife on this earth like Jesus Christ. And
He'll never leave you. He'll forsake you. Though you
play a harlot, but not Him. He's faithful. Now which husband
would you rather have? What husband are you seeking,
huh? Is there any consolation there?
Any fellowship? If you find fellowship here in
the gospel, with one another, communion, common faith, bowels,
look at verse, bowels. Scripture uses that as the innermost
feeling. You know, all of your life, everything,
your vitals are all right here. Your vitals. You have an injury
here, you better get help fast. The inner man was talking about.
Do you have any inner feelings? Do you have true inner feelings
of thanksgiving and praise and worship and love for the truth
and love for Christ and love for the gospel of His people?
Do you? Any? A little bit? There was a time
you didn't have any. Right? There was a time I didn't
want to be here. And honestly, by the grace of
God, now there's nowhere I want to be rather than here. That's
not me. That's the grace of God, I'm
telling you. Do you find any of that? And some of you may
not know or think, maybe I'm not a believer or whatever. Are
you enjoying what you're hearing right now? Are you enjoying these
songs? Are you glad to be here? Would
you rather be somewhere else? Any? It's a good sign. If that's in
you, it's a good sign. Any bowels? Any mercies? Mercies? Brothers and sisters, how merciful has God been to
you? Can you not see the mercies of
God that are new every morning? Can you not? Do you? Come on,
now I want your response. Has the Lord been merciful to
you? Any? Some of you can say, oh, how much? Oh, some of us
can sing that song. Oh, how merciful thou art to
me. His compassions, they fail not. Do you see that His mercies are
new this morning? What did you do last night? What
did you think last night? What did you dream through the
night? What did you wake up thinking? About God? About eternity? Chances
are, if you're human, there was sin in all that. But God who's
rich in what? Mercy. Any mercies? Oh, how much? Verse 2, Fulfill my joy that
ye be like minded. Now here's the exhortations.
Be like mine. I have the same love. One accord.
One mind. Let nothing be done through strife.
Striving for the mastery or striving for the glory. Vain glory. Any
glory is vain glory. You know that? Any glory that
man wants or thinks he has is vain. It's not true. To God be. De-glory. Why is that? Because
what do we have we have not received? Let not the wise man glory in
his wisdom, and the strong man in his strength, the beautiful
woman, because you had nothing to do with that. Why would you
glory in what someone else gave you, someone else did for you?
That's what man does. Are you not ashamed of your pride
and glory? Are you not? Is there any shame
and repentance for your pride and vainglory? That's of God. He's shown you it's vain glory. You don't want that glory, do
you? You don't want that glory. Be like mine, he said. He's going
to tell us the mind of Christ. Same love, one accord, one mind.
I love this illustration, one accord, like a chord in music. An orchestra, the very word orchestra. means something that is conducted
by another, orchestrated, brought together, symphony to for all
of these various instruments to play this one chord, this
one song, this one note, this one music, and everyone needs
to be in sync, in one accord. If someone says, hey, I got something
to play over here, saxophone over here, and everybody's playing
together here, it's just beautifully playing, and over here, oh, you
need to listen to me. You need to kick that fella out
of the band. This would be one accord. Nobody
gets a glory here but the maestro. The one conducting this. The
one that brought this together. The one that taught us all this
song. The one that gave us the voices and whatever talent or
gifts or ministries given us. He, to God, be the glory. And we're all singing one song
unto Him that loved us and washed us from our sin. No, no. There
are no soloists here. We're not fighting for first
chair. We want the last seat. We just want to be there. We
just want to be in the door. One accord. One mind. One mind. His glory. His honor. Let nothing be done with strife,
vainglory, lowliness of mind. Let each esteem other better
than themselves. Lowness. Think low thoughts of
yourself. Or that is, be humble. Meekness. Take whatever comes to you or
whatever does not. Take it patiently. Submit. Our Lord said this. Listen to
these words. He said, Take my yoke upon you. That's the yoke of service. Christ
took a yoke of flesh, we'll see in a minute, to serve his God,
serve God's people. He said, take my yoke upon you
and learn of me. I am meek and lowly in heart
and you'll find rest for your soul. rest, meek and lowly. The proud,
the way the transgressor's hard now, he's going to go hard with
that person that steals God's glory and out for himself and
doing for himself. It's like an I like this illustration,
an old draft horse that's been trained and broken and humbled
and taken that yoke, that big collar on him. He's doing one
thing. He's doing what he's created to do, what he's trained to do,
is serve that master and plow that plow that field, and he's
yoked to another, and they're both doing the same thing, pulling
one thing. And if he's humble and submissive and doing his
job, you know, the master's going to treat him well. The master's
never going to take the whip to him. He doesn't have to. Just
gi and ha, gi and ha, right? And then he's going to do it,
and after the day's over, they're going to take that yoke off,
and they're going to feed him. They're going to rub him down. He's going to rest, and life
is good. Christ said, take my yoke. You
live for yourself, you're going to die by yourself. You're going
to have a hard go of it. Like a wild animal out there,
they don't live very long. But one with a yoke, one with
a collar, one under restraints, and one doing what it's created
to do. There's happiness, there's contentment,
there's joy, there's peace, there's rest. Does that make sense? Well, it's true, isn't it, doesn't
it? One accord, one mind, one mind. Take my yoke upon you. Look at
verses 4 and 5. Look not every man on his own
thing, but every man also on the things of others. Like those
fellows in the ship, you can't be out for yourself. You're all
in it together. If one is not pulling his weight,
you know, there's no sails and it's hard work. Everybody's got
to be... Somebody's working against the
other. You're all going to suffer. Two horses pulling. One's pulling
this way, one's pulling that way. It's going to be just chaos,
man. Think on things of others. Think
on the good of God's kingdom, God's people, and not what's
for me, but us. That's for Him. Let this mind,
verse 5, be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus. This man, being you, which was
also in Christ Jesus, who being in the form of God, thought it
not robbery to be equal with God, made himself of no reputation,
took upon him a form of a servant, made in the likeness of men,
and we just don't know how, what condescension that was, what
humility it would be for us to become a worm And he found in
the fashion as a man, the habit of the flesh. He humbled himself,
became obedient unto death, even unto the death of the cross.
Let this mind be an eagle. Was our Lord happy? He's the blessed man in Psalm
1. That Psalm 1, the very first
psalm, begins with Christ. He's the first. Blessed means
happy. He's called the man of sorrows
and acquainted with grief because he took our griefs and our sorrows. But was he a happy man to come
to this earth? The Scripture says so. He said,
my meat and my drink is to do the Father's will. For the joy is set before him.
endured the cross, despised the shame. That means he thought
nothing of the shame to do what he did for the glory of God whom
he loved and the people whom he loved. He didn't hesitate
to come down here. He did it with great joy and
great happiness. It made him very happy to come
here, willingly. God loveth a cheerful giver.
God loved with His Son more than anyone else because He's the
most cheerful giver ever. He gave Himself completely. One hundred percent. His body,
soul, mind, His time, His whole existence on earth made Him happy
to do it. With God's glory and His people.
Had to. Had to be done. Which we'll say
more in a minute. Son of God, Emmanuel. And I didn't
realize, but we just looked at this in November of last year. I didn't realize that until I
just looked up some old notes to look up when I preached this
last. That's just a few months ago.
Fine. We need to look at this. We're
talking about the person and work of our Lord Jesus Christ.
That's why we come here. The Son of God, Emmanuel, made
himself a body. He became a man, a likeness of
sinful flesh, he who was equal with God. And he did this not
merely as an example, but chiefly as a substitute. Listen to me. made man flesh. God made man
to be flesh in His likeness, didn't He? So that tells us that
the Son of God at some point in eternity past had a likeness,
had a body, right? Not like this, but a glorified
body which we will have some day. A mystery. But He did. Let
us make man in our own what? Image, that's a likeness. He came down here in the likeness
of sinful flesh. He robed himself in flesh which
covered his glorified body. I'm speaking things too wonderful
for me, but it's true. He had a body, but he took on
a body in the likeness of sinful flesh. Why did he do that? Well, God made man in his image. God made man to glorify God,
the Creator. He made man to worship God, to
enjoy God. And he did. Adam and Eve lived
with God. For God? In God? Christ was there? He's God. Without Him, there
was not anything made that was made. Happy? Were Adam and Eve happy? They
didn't have anything that we think we need to be happy, but
God. And now man thinks he has all
of this, and not interested in God. And so man's not happy, and it
will be. But Adam and Eve, all they had
was God. Think about it. God made man a body and a soul,
but man, tempted, this is a mystery, enticed, lied to by the godless
world, questioned God's Word, questioned God's authority. Sin
entered mankind and he became worse than a beast. Man became worse than a beast,
living for basically three things, eating, drinking, and sex. But he's worse than a beast because
the beasts don't rebel against their creator. Man does. Man doesn't like to think about
God at all. In fact, God is not in all his
knowledge. He's just not there. That's how bad man got. And then
man became nothing but sinful flesh. And all that's in the
flesh and all that's in this world, this is what Christ said,
is the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eye, and pride. No
glory to God. No need for God. No desire for
God who did all this wonderful thing for man. I don't want God. I want sin. That's man. But God. But God. Who's rich? For his great love
with whom he worked, he loved some of these rebellious people.
He loved Adam and Eve. He did. How do you know that?
How do you know God loved them? He came and spoke to them. He came and revealed the truth
to them. He killed a sacrifice. He covered them. He comforted
them. He made promises to them. Yeah,
he loved them. And this God, this Christ became
flesh. Why? Because man dishonored God
in the flesh. Man sinned against God in the
flesh. So Christ came to glorify God
in the flesh. To condemn sin in the flesh.
His flesh was holy. We have nothing but sinful flesh.
Are you with me? Don't lose me here. This is what
it's all about. Or rather, who? He became flesh
to glorify God in the flesh, which man did not do, which man
does not do, which man... Everything. That which is flesh
is flesh now. And God... Paul said, in my flesh
dwelleth no good thing. None. There's no good. Just body
of death. Paul said, He's going to change
my what body? My vile body. Flesh. And if you could take off the
roofs of all the houses all over the world and look at what man
is doing, you would be sick. In fact, when God opens your
own heart and you see it, it makes you sick. And if God, the love of God is
in you, a new creature, and you hate it, you hate it, you hate
it, this vile body, who's going to get rid of this, this sin
in me? I hate it. I don't want to be
like this anymore. This hate, this sin. So the Son
of Most High God came to this despicable place. Why? They didn't
ask for Him. They didn't want Him. Nobody
asked. Nobody said, please help Him. Nobody said it. Thank God.
They don't even know they need me. They don't want me. And they're
going to kill me when I get there. But, I'm going to do something
for them. Because I love them. Not all
of them. None of them worth loving. But
some of them. Many of them. Yeah, many. Because
God's so merciful. Sent His Son down here. To do
what He did. To glorify God in the flesh.
Man was created for the glory of God. He's not even come close.
The Son of God came, Emmanuel. Man is sick from his head to
his toe, from his mind to his walk, to his heart. All this
stuff comes out of his heart. His hands are swift to shed blood.
His feet run from God and run into mischief, right? His hands
are for Himself, for His own less than His flesh. So the Son
of God came. See from His head, His hands
and His feet. His head with radiant glory,
His crown, His lips with grace overflow. His feet always going
to do good. His hands service to God and
man. His heart pure and holy and just
and true. Full of love and mercy and kindness
and grace. Not one word came out of his
mouth that wasn't beautiful. And the Scripture says God is
well pleased with this man of flesh. He glorified God in the
flesh. But now, sin has got to be paid
for. So God made Christ to be sin. God put all the iniquity of all
of God's people on this spotless Lamb. This beautiful Son of the
Most High God. This Lamb. This Substitute. It's like taking that pure, white,
beautiful Lamb that's never sinned. Created for God's glory. For
man's good. Cutting its beautiful little
throat. Watching it suffer and die. Skin it. Take off all its
beauty, its garment, its covering. Take it off where you see a sacrifice,
a substitute. And take that skin, and over
here's a hardened criminal, and put it and wrap it around him.
And kill that innocent sacrifice in the place of the one that
ought to be killed. That's what Christ did. He had to take a
body to glorify God in the flesh, and he condemned sin in the flesh,
and he took our sins in his body on the tree. And God accepted. That's the gospel right there. That's the gospel. Oh, my. Now,
I want you to think about this for just a few more minutes,
OK? Christ became flesh to glorify God in the flesh, to condemn
sin in the flesh as our substitute, as a substitute for his people.
Man doesn't glorify God in the flesh. That's what he's created
to do. Someone's got to do it for us,
don't they? And Christ did. He did. But He also showed us
something here. He showed us what true beauty
is. It's not flesh. God looks on this earth and He
doesn't see anything beautiful. Sin has tainted all of it. Right? It's not flesh, it's spirit.
True strength. No, it's not. God takes no pleasure
in the strength of a horse or the legs of a man. True beauty, not a beautiful
face. It's heart. It's character. Are
you with me? The Lord's showing us true beauty. It's not outward at all. True
strength is not flesh. It's spirit. True happiness is not having
to do anything to do with the flesh. The flesh can't make you
happy. It's what Christ showed us. It's
not the satisfying of the flesh. No, no. But, alright, now listen
to this. He made himself, and I one time
entitled it, The Self-Made Man. And people talk about being self-made
men and women. That's just not so. That's just
not so. What do you have you have not
received? The Lord maketh rich. The Lord maketh poor. The Lord
maketh strong. The Lord maketh good. He does all that. And if
He's given you whatever He's given you, you better thank Him
for it. You better fear God. You better fear to take His glory
upon you. You better fear pride. And you
better humble yourself before God. That's what Christ did. But think about this. He chose
his birth. He chose his parents. He chose
the life he would live. He chose his friends. He chose
to die. He made himself. Mankind, if
he would choose everything about himself, would be the opposite
of everything our Lord chose. OK? The opposite. Man would want
to be healthy, wealthy, wise, rich, famous, all his friends
around him, people that could be an advantage to him, and connections,
and the world love him. And Christ chose the opposite
of all that, to show us the truth. The truth. Though you have all
these things, you can't have what they promise you. It's a
lie. He chose his birth. He chose
a lowly birth, not a high and lofty one, a meek and lowly one
at a barn. Tell me, some of you who now
live in finery, do you not sometimes think, we need to go back to
where we were all just farming? Wouldn't the world be a better
place? I'm telling you. This is ruining our families,
our minds, our children, everything. I'm telling you, things, devices,
stuff. God made man put him in a work
the dirt. He's happy. I just turned the
light on. Just turned the light on. Oh,
that God would turn the light on in us, show us that this ain't
it. It's the light of the knowledge
of the glory of God. Oh my, he chose his birth lowly. He chose his family, poor people. He didn't choose to be born a
noble. He's a king alright. He's a king alright, but he doesn't
need to be man's king. He's God's king. Much higher
than man. Which would you rather be, a
son of King Charles over there, that fellow? Huh? Or the son
of God? Which do you aspire to? They
can have that monarchy. They can have those jewels. We'll
take the pearl at a great price, won't we? We're going to be jewels
in His crown, don't you? I see your heads nod. That's
a good sign, people. That's a good sign. He chose his family. They were poor. They were nobody.
Nobody knew them. Nobody cared for them. They didn't
have room for them. Isn't that God's family? Isn't
that all of God's family? The world doesn't have any room
for them. Like the children of Israel. Egypt said, we want them
out of here. That's what they said about the
children of Israel. All the Egyptians. We'll be glad
when they're gone. Whose family you want to be a
part of? He chose his life, a life of labor, a life of service,
of hard work. There's much in the scriptures
in Proverbs and Ecclesiastes about hard work. Wealth gotten
by vanity will be gone just overnight. You win the lottery, you're going
to end up poor in five years. That's a fact. But wealth gotten
by labor shall increase. You'll appreciate it. You'll
take care of it. You'll get more joy out of it. You really will. That's what
the Proverb of Ecclesiae did. Oh, we live in this get-rich-quick
world. Would somebody tell me what Bitcoin
is? Oh, man. Enough of that. He chose his life of labor, of
servant, to be a servant. He said it's more blessed to
give than to receive. Greatest in the kingdom is a
servant. He chose his own appearance. There's no beauty. He had no
beauty. He was not tall, dark, handsome,
and muscular. There's not a stronger man who
ever lived. Not a more beautiful human being
ever walked this earth than the one who had no beauty. God said
so. God said he's altogether lovely.
Everything about him, from head to toe, his face, it's not the
look of your, it's not beautiful eyes and beautiful features and
all that. It's your confidence! And looking in his face is looking
at the face of God. Why? Because that's who he is.
The face of an angel. Stephen was preaching, Brother
Stephen. And they looked on his face. They looked like the face
of an angel. Why? The glory of God was in
his face. True beauty. Righteousness, peace,
joy, holiness, godliness, love, mercy and grace. That's beauty!
It ain't outward. In fact, sometimes the most beautiful
people are the ugliest people you'll ever look at because of
their countenance, pride. God hates one thing more than
anything else, a proud look. And it's only the mercy of God
that He doesn't disfigure your face to where nobody can look
at you. And our Lord chose to not be
beautiful on the outside. And all his bride thinks, that's
the most handsome man. That is my husband. And they all think they're ugly,
no matter how beautiful, to the flesh, in the flesh. They all
think they're ugly. Why would he have anything to
do with me? Isn't that right? That's the only kind he marries.
The only kind. He chose his appearance. Oh,
he chose a short life. What human being would choose
just to live 33 years? He did. Why? That's all he could
take of it. That he lived more than 33 years
than all people could put together. Oh, my. What do you hope to accomplish
in life? We won't accomplish much of anything.
Boy, he did, didn't he? He accomplished our salvation. He chose to die. Who would choose
to die? He chose the worst death that
a human being could face. Who would choose to suffer? He
didn't. Do you see why? This says every
knee should bow. Ain't nobody worth saving. Every knee should bow and every
knee is going to. And every time That's why it
was created. To praise our God, not cuss Him. To tell men what God has done
for us, not what we've done for Him. Not what we've accomplished
in this world. No! Every knee should bow, shouldn't
it? God, because He's lowest of the
low, made Himself of no reputation. God gave Him all the reputation. Oh, the glory. Sit down at my
right hand till I make all those who don't want anything to do
with you. You're a footstool. And God,
He said, I've purposed it that every knee will bow. Every tongue
will confess. And do you see, brothers and
sisters, if you have any, does any of this mean anything to
you? Do you see how merciful God is
to you? The whole world's going by, I
don't care. And I didn't. But God. There's something. There's nobody who deserves any
glory but Jesus Christ. To God be the glory. Okay.
