Hebrews 11, go back there now.
This whole chapter is a chapter on faith. What is faith? What is faith? Who really believes
God? It's a summary of faith. Faith
is called in Scripture the faith of God's elect, isn't it? Those of you who know the Scripture,
faith of God's elect. God has an elect people, chosen
people. Everyone doesn't believe the truth. All of God's people
do. He chose them. He called them.
He gives them this faith. It's called the faith delivered
to the saints. Those of you who know those scriptures
know that. It's delivered. It's, you know,
by grace are you saved. That's an act of God, a work
of God. Not works, lest any man should boast. It's not your decisions,
not your choice. It's God's. Right? You hath he quickened. You were
dead. He gave you life. You didn't
believe. He gave you faith. By grace you saved through faith.
That's not of your sin. It's a gift of God. He said,
Oh, we're given this faith. They didn't just decide one day
to accept Jesus. No, no, no, no, no, no. God,
long before the world began, accepted them in the beloved. And in time, they're going to
have faith. He's going to give it to them. Faith of God's elect,
delivered to the saint. Chapter 12 says we have a great
cloud of witnesses. They all professed this same
faith. They all believed one God, one
Lord, one faith. Right? One faith. Not many faiths, but one. Faith
of God's elect. Faith delivered to the saint.
They all believed the same God. Many conceptions of God today.
Not according to the God of the Bible. Many conceptions of Jesus. It's not the Lord Jesus Christ
in Scripture. But all of God's people believe
the same God. The same Christ. And they all
died in Hebrews 11 verse 13. It says, He's all died in faith. They all died in faith. In faith, what does that mean?
It means to be found in Christ. That's the summary of it. To
be found in Christ. What does that mean? Well, I'm
going to show you in just a minute. But look at Hebrews 12. Hebrews
12. Look down at verse 22. Hebrews 12, 22. You come unto
Mount Zion, the city of the living God. You remember reading there
in Hebrews 11, these all, they look for a city. What's that?
That's the church. That's God's true people. The
heavenly Jerusalem. The innumerable company of angels
or messengers to the general assembly and church of the firstborn,
which are written in heaven. Their names written in the Lamb's
book of life. To God, the judge of all. Spirits of just or justified
men and women, made perfect. Made perfect? How? By Christ. And to Jesus, the
mediator of the New Covenant, the blood of sprinkling that
speaks better things than of ability, goes right back where
God started about faith. Hebrews 11, able, the blood. All right, listen. All of these
people, and we've looked at every single one many, many times over. We've looked at each name and
devoted a message to each person by itself, every one of these
names. All of these people, they had families. They lived in this
world just like us, but they were God's family. Their true father was their father
in heaven. Ruth left her earthly family,
didn't she? And then God's people became
her family. This is what I want to show you. This is the title
of the message, God's Family, Family of Faith, God's Family.
They were chosen of God, adopted by God, born of God. They had
nothing to do with it. All of these people, God's family,
they heard God spoke. They believed. They didn't decide
to. God gave them this faith. Gave
them ears to hear, hearts to listen. They believed. They feared. There wasn't one person here
that didn't fear God. You're hard-pressed to find one
person today who calls himself a Christian and a believer that
fears God. All of God's people did. They
feared they called on who? Jesus. The name of the Lord. The Lord Jesus Christ. They feared
Him. The Lord Jesus. They kept the
Passover. Every one of these. It said they
all kept the Passover, didn't it? They all kept the Passover.
You say, Abel didn't keep the Passover. The Passover wasn't
mentioned yet. Hold on. It started with Abel
bringing blood. Not Cain bringing his works,
what he had done. Look what I've done for you,
God. God rejected him. Abel brought what God provided.
A lamb, which is Christ's. His bloodshed, not Abel's good
work, not Abel's good intentions, not even Abel's faith. It's Abel's
sacrifice. It's that which God gave him
and taught him. God taught that to Cain and Abel.
Abel believed. Cain didn't. Why? God chose him. God chose him. They all kept
the Passover. They all came out. They all came
out of the world. God brought them out of the world.
They all walked by faith. What's that? It said, looking
unto Jesus, the author of the Finishing Fire. The one who saved them. The one
who saves us. Kept. Came out. They walked. They sojourned. They were strangers.
They were pilgrims. They ate and drank. The children
of Israel were the children of God. And they ate and drank,
typical of the children of God. All of them weren't the children
of God. He's a Jew, which is one. Inwardly, not outwardly. Not of that country, but of heavenly
Jerusalem. They all ate and drank. What?
Forty years, walked through the wilderness, ate the same thing.
What? Banner. From heaven. What's that? John 6, the whole chapter is
about it. Christ said, I am the bread of life. Not manna. I am
the bread of life. Moses didn't give that. My father
did. He said, I am the manna. He that
eateth my flesh and drinketh my blood, he hath life. They
drank water. Where'd the water come from?
Smitten Rock. What's that? You know? That's Christ crucified. Out
of his side came blood and water. Justification, sanctification.
You know these things. You're so blessed. Few people
do. Many are called, but few are
chosen to believe this truth, the truth. They ate and drank. They slept. They all slept. It
says they all died. Did they? Did they really? Our
Lord Jesus Christ said, You'll never die. If you trust me, believe
me, you'll never die. You believe that? Why won't they
ever die? Because Christ died. Come on, smile, somebody. There you go. Great cloud of witnesses. They all believe the same. All
right, but we're going to look at one, well, two examples in
this. in this story, okay? Look down
at chapter 11, verse 23. We're going to look at Moses'
parents and Moses himself, okay? You have it? Verse 23. By faith,
Moses' parents. Now remember, faith started with
Abel and the blood, didn't it? And all of God's people know,
without the shedding of blood, there's no remission of sin.
Long before Exodus 12 with Passover, all of God's true saints knew
that it was the blood that was the remission of their sin, the
blood of a substitute, the blood of a sacrifice, the blood of
a lamb, all of them. Christ is called the Lamb slain
before the foundations were. And from Adam to Zerubbabel.
From A to Z, from Genesis to Revelation, all of God's people
are saved one way, and they know it. It's the blood of a substitute. The blood of God's sacrifice.
Jesus Christ. The Old Testament saints didn't
know His name was Jesus, but they knew that Christ was coming
to shed His precious blood for the remission of their sin. To
pay for their sins. To live for them. To make them
accepted by God. Not them accepting God. Him. making them accept it. They all know that. No exception. All right? So, by faith, Moses,
and he's talking about Moses' parents. When Moses was born,
he was hid three months of his parents. What are their names?
Anybody? Tell me their names. I know them.
I had to look it up. Their names aren't mentioned,
are they? Are their names important? No,
they're not. They mean something. They wouldn't
be in the Bible if they weren't important in that respect. But
the fact is, when God mentioned them, He doesn't mention their
names. Most don't know their name. God did. The foundation
of God's stand is sure. How's that? The Lord knows them
that are His. How does He know them? He chose
them. God knew their name. God does.
What's their last name? What's Moses' last name? Quick. What's Abraham's last name? What's
David's last name? Call it a surname. This is a
name where everybody's proud of. Your family name. Tell me, what's Jacob's last
name? Moses, Abraham, David, Jacob,
Rahab, somebody. They don't have one. And someday you won't either.
God's people. Our surnames and our families
are not important. Oh, listen to Proverbs 22, and
so does Ecclesiastes say this, a good name is rather to be chosen
than great riches, loving favor rather than silver or gold. What's
the best name? What's the good name? What name
do you want to be called by? Son of God. Child of God. And no Mahans in heaven. And no Davises in heaven. No
Andersons. No Sheasleys in heaven. Oh, there's
a John. There's a bunch of Johns. There's
a Thomas. A bunch of Thomases. Twins. Thomas. Tods. You say, there's
no Tods in heaven. Well, there will be. And on and on it goes. They're all
children of God. Sons of God. We don't have any family relations.
There won't be marriages. There won't be given in marriage.
There won't be mother and father and husband and wife and brother
and sister. You're all going to be in God's
family. George Whitefield one time said
this. And everybody knew him. And he was a famous preacher.
And the Lord used him greatly. But he said, Let the name of
George Whitefield perish from the earth. Let the name of Jesus
Christ be praised. Can you say that? A good name. Oh, what name do
you long to be found under? When the Lord Jesus Christ was
preaching one day and his mother, supposedly, his mother Mary,
was standing outside and they told him, your mother wants to
speak to you. He said, who is my mother? Your brother's out there. He
said, who is my brother? He said, this is my brother.
This is my family. Is that what you say? Is it? A great cloud of witnesses left
their family. Ruth said, Ruth left her home,
her family, her gods, the way her mama and daddy believed.
That's not my God, Ruth said. She said to Naomi, your God's
my God. The true God's my God. Your people are my people. That's
my family. That's where I'm going. I'm going
to leave my family like Abraham. and a great cloud of witnesses.
There's one. Right? There's one. Huh? They're all the same. They all
profess the same thing. There's one name under heaven by which we'll be saved. There's
one name in heaven. We're all called sons of God. And when he says, John, I love
you, here's your surname. Here's how you know if you're
going to be there. And this name is in the Bible. This is who
Christ came to save. Sinners. John the sinner. All surnames, family names will
perish, only the people of God, the family of God will be forever. All right, when Moses was born,
verse 23, look at this. When Moses was born, his parents,
their names are Amram and Jacobet. Deborah, you're going to love
it. Amram means high people. You know, to be a child of God
is a high calling, a heavenly calling, a holy calling. And
you don't call Him, He calls you. You won't call until He
calls you. He gets the glory for this. You
don't get the glory for calling. If you call, He gets the glory
for causing you to call. He said, I'm found of people
that didn't call on me. Isaiah 65. Amram, the high people,
that's all of God's people. They started out in a pit, just
like all the children of Israel. They started out in the slime
pits of Egypt. They were in the muck, in the
mire, in the flesh pots of Egypt. That's all of God's people in
the world. But God, with a high hand, reached down in the muck
and the mire off the dung heap to sit them among princes. They
were low, but God is going to bring them all real high, all
the way to the throne of heaven. And they know it. They get there,
He did it. Jacobit. It means Jehovah is glorified. Is that you, Jacobit? Jacobit? Jacobit? Rahab? Is that you? That's me. Who gets the glory
for salvation? God does. All of it. From the
choosing, to the calling, to the believing, to the keeping,
to the final preservation and final glorification. Salvations
of the Lord. Not cooperative effort. It's
God's work. God's not going to congratulate
us for accepting His Son. We're going to praise Him in
the high heaven for accepting us in His Son. It's another gospel that talks
about God love you, Jesus died for you, won't you accept Him.
That is not in the Bible. That's not the gospel. That's
not the faith of God's elect. This is the faith of all of God's
elect. Amram and Jacobid. They heard the decree, Amram
and Jacobid, Moses' parents. They heard the decree of Pharaoh.
Pharaoh said, I'm going to kill all the children of Israel, the
sons of Jacob. The decree was against God's
people. Okay? But in chapter 11, verse
23, it says that they were not afraid of the king's commandments. They were not afraid of this
high ruler, this God of the world. He was the most powerful man
on earth, Pharaoh. He could kill you with a word.
Can he? Can he really? Can Satan, he's the God of this
world, Scripture says so, can he kill and make alive? Can he
wound? Can he heal? Does he have any
power like that? There's no authority but of God.
You know what the scripture says? Romans 15. All authority. Nobody can do it. God says, I
kill. I make a lot. Deuteronomy 32,
39. Didn't it? I won't. I heal. I,
the Lord, do all. I make peace. I make creative.
I, the Lord, do all these things. None can deliver out of my hand.
All souls are mine, He said. Even the breath in your body
is in His hands. So God's people don't fear the
God of this world. They don't fear his decrees. They don't fear this is what
you're going to do. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
no, no, no, no, no, no, no Won't it be wonderful? Daniel, no,
no, no, I'm not bound to your God. Throw me into the lion's
den. Fine, that's wonderful. I hope he eats me. Then I'm done
with you. I'm done with everything. Our Lord said, don't fear man,
fear God. After he kills a body, cast body
and soul into heaven. You fear God. And God said in
Isaiah 8, He said, Don't fear their fear. Fear Me. Let Me be
your fear and your dread. Because I'm the one that does
all these things. Not man. Second causes. Man's
second causes. Do you believe that? Is that
the God you believe? Well, that's what this book said. That's what this book said. Don't
fear their fear. Don't fear man. Don't fear the
God of this world. Don't believe the world's rulers.
Don't! It says this twice in here. Moses didn't fear the wrath of
the king. Whose wrath did Moses fear? God's. So Moses' mother and father,
look at verse 23. When he was born, they hid him
three months. They saw he was a proper child.
And they didn't fear the wrath of Pharaoh, but they hid him
for three months. Now, what's the story? Well,
it's found in Exodus 2. Do you want to just go back there
real quick? Exodus chapter 2. Exodus chapter 2. If you've never
heard this before, oh my. And maybe you have heard it,
but maybe you haven't heard what it's really all about. Like Noah's
ark. Exodus chapter 2. You've heard
of Moses and the ark and the bulrushes and the casting upon
the water, okay? Maybe you haven't heard this.
But look at Exodus chapter 2, verse 1, it says, There went
a man of the house of Levi and took a daughter of Levi. Hold
on a minute. Levi, who's that? Well, he, in Exodus, That's where
God said Levi is going to be the priest, the high priest. Right? The house of Levi, the
high priest. All right, so these two, this man and this woman,
were of the house of Levi. Do you know that all of God's
people are called kings and what? Say it out loud. Priests, yeah.
Ministering about the tabernacle, Hebrews 11 talked about that,
or Hebrews book. They're all made royal kings,
children of the most high god, the king, and they're all priests
ministering about the tabernacle, male and female. Women can't
preach, can't appear. But they all testify and witness
of the Lord Jesus Christ. What did the priests in the Old
Testament do? One thing, the blood, the sacrifice. That's all of God's people. You're
kings in prayer. Yes, you are. It says in 1 Peter
2, it says, we're a royal priesthood. Peculiar people. Peculiar people. But look at
verse, she had a son, and Pharaoh had given a decree to kill firstborn
Israelite. And verse 3, she could no longer
hide him, he got, becoming older, and she took from him an ark
of bulrushes and daubed it with slime and with pitch. Pitch, you heard that word, it
was in chapter 6 of Genesis. And put that child in that ark,
in the river, That ark was covered with pitch. Some of you are nodding your
head like this is the most wonderful thing you've ever heard. She
put him in an ark, a little refuge, covered that ark with pitch,
and put that baby in the water and cast all her hopes and all
her cares on the mercy of the Lord God for that child in that
ark, covered with that pitch. Do you remember the story of
Noah and the ark? That ark is Jesus Christ. Noah's
ark is Jesus Christ. Everybody found in Him, saved. Those outside... God doesn't
love everybody. He loves those in Christ. Those
outside of Christ, wrath of God abides upon them. John 3.36. Those in Christ preserved, shut
in. What kept the wrath of God from
flooding that ark? Pitch. That's the blood of Jesus
Christ. Pro-pitch-iation. The covering. Same pitch. Same story. An ark. What kept Moses alive? God did,
but it was that pitch coming at them. So Moses' parents, they
heard, they believed God, they feared God, they didn't fear
Pharaoh, they feared God, and they cast, put that baby in that
ark. God told them to do this. And
they covered it with pitch and they cast their child's welfare,
future, life, soul, body, everything upon the mercy of the Lord. Lord,
He's yours. Please, save Him. Did it? You got it? What do you want for your children? The children of the Egyptians
Perished. Didn't it? There was not one
house in all of Egypt where there was not one dead. But there was
not one house in the Exodus 12, the Passover, when they went
out. There was not one house in Israel
where there was any dead under the blood. Everybody under the
blood was saved. The Egyptians died. They perished. Not one Israelite who passed
through the Red Sea, which is the blood of Christ, perished. They walked on dry land. The
Egyptians are saying to do, drown. The water was a wall under God's
people. That's Christ. But the world
perished under that water. That's Christ, the judge, the
executioner. Which are you? What do you want
for your children more than anything? Ask yourself that. Ask yourself. Whatever it is
that you desire for yourself more than anything else is what
you'll desire for your children. It's a fact. Out of the abundance
of the heart, the mouth speaketh. The profession of faith of all
of God's people is this, this one thing. David said it in Psalm
27, one thing have I desired of the Lord. Paul said this one
thing needful, didn't he? In Philippians 3 he said, I want
to be found in Christ in that great day. not having my religious
experience and works and my decision and this and that and the other,
not my morality, not I quit this and quit that and did this and
did that. My hope is built on nothing less than the Lord Jesus
Christ, blood and righteousness. I dare not trust the sweetest
frame, but I wholly and completely lean on one name. On Christ the
solid rock I stand. All other ground is sinking sand.
All other ground is sinking sand. Is that your profession? I want
to be found in Christ, Paul said. That's what every one of God's
people said. That's what Omraam and Jacob had wanted for their
child, Moses. Oh Lord, let him be under the
blood. Let him be covered in the blood.
Let him be found in Christ. I don't care if he's Pharaoh
or I don't care if he's a slave, but let him be found in Christ. Is that your desire? Hide Him, they said. Hide Him,
O Lord. When your wrath comes, hide Him. Save Him from Egypt. Save Him
from the God of this world. Is that what you desire for your
children? If that's what you want for yourself,
that's what you want them to have. We have two granddaughters.
The Lord blessed us with a daughter and two granddaughters. And they
play piano like some of your daughters. And they're quite
good at it. And they play musical instruments
and they're quite good at it too. And they've won awards and
so forth. Our desire, and I say this with all my heart, our desire
is one for them. I don't want, we don't want either
one of them to become concert pianists. But we hope and pray
that perhaps the Lord will give them that ability to play the
pianist. There might be a church pianist. Not to play Mozart,
not to play Rachmaninoff, but to play Rock of Ages. Cleft for
me, let me hide myself in thee. They've won numerous awards,
and that'll be over and be gone and be forgotten and all that.
We want for them to win Christ and be found in Him. Whether
or not either one of those girls marries, we hope and pray that
the Lord Jesus Christ will marry them. Whether they have children, whether
they bear children or not, it's not important. We want them to
bear fruit for the glory of God. Otherwise they're cumbering the
ground. They'd be better off not to be born. That's a fact. That's our desire
for them. Is that your desire for your
children? Well, you know what you'll do? You'll be like Noah.
You'll have your children like Noah had his boys working on
that ark, around that ark. His hope for a hundred years,
he had Shem, Ham, and Japheth. Come on, boys. God's going to
destroy this world. Our only hope is the ark. And
that's why I want you to be in that ark, Shem, Japheth. And those parents wanted Moses
to be found of God, raised of God, saved by God. Is that your
hope? It's interesting. I discovered
it. It's been there all along. But these stories like Noah and
Moses, it's about water and blood. It's all about water and blood. Both Noah and Moses were both
found in the water, saved by water, saved by blood. Noah,
water, blood, pitch. Moses in the water, blood, pitch. Passover. The Red Sea, I said, it all passed
through the Red Sea. Water, blood. Christ is our Ark,
who came by water and blood. When they pierced His side, what
came out? I already mentioned it. Water and blood. That's the
gospel. And when Peter preached at Pentecost,
he said, everybody believe. Believe what? Believe God. Believe
Christ. Believe the truth. Said everyone
that received the word gladly were what? Baptized. Confessed it. Confessed it. All of them. No exceptions. So,
Moses' parents, they believed God. They wanted one thing for
their son and daughter. They had three children. You
know their name? Aaron, Miriam, Moses. God was so merciful to
Omron and Jacob, wasn't He? All three of them. Isn't that
something? Isn't that something? But they
cast Moses on the mercy of the Lord. And He promised, the Lord
said, if you cast all your care on Him, He cares for you. And
the story is that Pharaoh's daughter found Moses and took him in.
Now Moses and Moses' parents, that is, they hoped in God's
mercy. And all they could do was wait
in it. You know how long they waited?
To find out if God was going to spare Moses 40 years. They saw him saved, but no, they
saw him go out into Egypt and become an Egyptian and become
the next pharaoh and lion. They thought he was lost in the
world. They had him a little while, God in mercy. You know
the story. But they had to wait. Here's
the thing. They hoped in God's mercy, but they're going to have
to wait on the Lord, wait and see, aren't they? They were saved by hope, Scripture
said. The trial of your faith. Faith
is going to be trial. The trial of your faith works
with patience. Remember that? Waiting. Patience,
experience, hope. And they saw Pharaoh's daughter
find him and take him in and raise him. And like I said, Jochebed
got to see him every day. He's raised by Pharaoh. You know
the story. He's raised by Pharaoh. Spared
his life. Pharaoh's daughter spared his
life. Oh no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, a thousand times
no. And it's not this world, it's
not this nation, it's not our armed forces, it's not our president,
it's God. Salvation is of the Lord. Every
single human being for that matter is kept by the power of God until
God says it's over. Also, breath. Oh, no, no. Pharaoh didn't save his life.
God spared Pharaoh's life. Didn't He say that? That's what
Scripture said. I raised you up, Romans 9. God
says of Pharaoh, I raised you up to raise my son. Oh, no, no, no. God worketh all
things at the counsel of His will. It's not man's will. It's God's will. Well, the lot
is cast into the lap. What's the rest of it? The whole
disposing thereof is of the Lord. Pharaoh said, this is what I'm
going to do. No, God said, this is what you're going to do. Pharaoh's
daughter found him. Oh no, God found him and gave
him to her and raised him up. Your children are in God's hands. A sister just now mouthed these
words. We don't know what's going to
happen to him, but God does, and we trust him. Right? We're going to have to wait and
see. Wait and see. So Moses grew up in Egypt. He
went to the finest schools in Egypt. He learned the ways of Egypt, the wisdom of Egypt, the knowledge
of Egypt. He was wise, he was schooled
in philosophy, in science, in math, and all the things of Egypt. Now he's a wise man. No, he's
a fool. He didn't know God. Not yet. Moses didn't know God
yet. Right? What are his parents praying
all that time? Lord, deliver him from Egypt. Hath not God made foolish the
wisdom of this world? Where is wisdom? What is true
wisdom? Where are all the treasures of
wisdom and knowledge? Do you know Colossians 3? Where is that
found? Colossians 2. In Christ our head,
the head, the head, mind you, all the treasures of wisdom and
knowledge. You can learn all you will. I'm
not against education, but it's not the savior of our children
or our society. God is, Christ is. It's not the answer, Christ's
answer. For 40 years, Moses grew up in
this world. Like all of God's people and
their children, we grew up in this world. Now look at verse
24. By faith Moses, when he was come
to years, hold on now, what does that mean? He got to be 40 years
old. You know the story. You know
the story. He became 40 years old. He's in Egypt. He's next
in line to be Pharaoh. Pharaoh's grandson. He's going
to be Pharaoh. He has it all. All the riches of Egypt. All
the knowledge and wisdom of Egypt. The ways of Egypt. Homes. All
this and that and the other. Doesn't he? He had no God. And
he's going to perish with Egypt, but God. One day, when he became
40 years old, he went out, you know the story, and his brethren
were cast out and went out into the wilderness, and he saw a
burning bush on top of a mountain, and he told his wife. He doesn't
yet know God. He doesn't know God. He saw a
burning bush on top of the mountain. How did he see this burning bush
that far away? Have you ever thought about that? That's how far off. God said,
you're going to behold Me. And He went. I'm going to see
what this is. And He went and there was a bush burning with
fire, but it was not consumed. And the angel of the Lord, the
Lord Himself, God Himself was in the middle of that flaming
bush speaking to Moses, take your shoes off, this is holy
ground. He didn't know God. Who are you? He said, I am that
I am. What is that burning bush? Somebody tell me. One word. Christ! The Ark of Noah, Christ crucified. The Ark that Moses was in, Christ
crucified. The blood of Abel, Christ. Abraham's son Isaac offered on
the Mount, Christ crucified. There's one way, one hope. Moses
didn't know God except through that burning bush. And you won't
know God. No one knows God except through
Christ crucified. See, the holiness of God, the
justice of God, the anger, the wrath of God against sin, what
God will do to everyone is not in Christ. And Scripture says, of God are
you in Him, like Noah was put in that ark and shut up and it
was pitched. Covered with that pitch, and
God's people are all put in Christ, given to cry, covered by cry,
pitch propitiated, atoned for by Jesus' cry, found in Him,
and the wrath of God will not fall on you. That's the faith
of God's elect. Everyone. Nothing else. No one
else. Hmm. Where am I? Well, he saw that burning bush,
fire. Our gods are consuming fire.
You won't hear modern religion get to verse 29 of Hebrews 12. That's how it ends. Our gods
are consuming fire. The burnt offering, Christ crucified,
that's the burnt offering. You must know that your sins
will be punished, either by you or by him, a substitute. And
God didn't offer him to you, He offered Christ Himself. And our Lord, through the Holy
Spirit, comes to tell us about it. He came for you. And he saw this burning bush,
but it was not consumed. And Christ died, but He rose
again. The sacrifice was accepted by
God, and because of Him we are not consumed. That's the only
reason. And look at this, I close. And
so, because of seeing Christ in that burning bush, because
of seeing Christ crucified, this is not first, this is after. Like Noah found grace. He chose. He wouldn't have chosen this
if God hadn't chosen him. He wouldn't have refused to be
Pharaoh's daughter if God hadn't accepted him. He chose rather
to suffer affliction with the people of God to enjoy the pleasures
of sin for a season. He esteemed the reproach of Christ. You see that? Moses? Christ? Oh, yeah. Our Lord said that
Moses wrote of me. Remember that? The Jews say,
well, Abraham's our father. He said, Abraham saw my day.
He was glad. When was that? When he took Isaac
up on that mountain. He saw Christ crucified. And
so have you. Christ is the faith of God today. Esteem the reproach of Christ,
greater riches than all the treasures of Egypt. Moses rejected all
the riches of Egypt, so he became poor. Oh no, he may have been
poor, but he was rich now. He has the unsearchable riches
of the Lord Jesus Christ. He experienced all the riches
of Egypt, and he said, it's fading, it's fleeting, it's nothing to
it. There's no riches there. The
true riches are crime. And he had respect under the
recompense of the reward. That is, he's our reward. And
by faith, verse 27, he kept, he forsook Egypt. Every one of
God's people come out of this world, they're in it, They're
not of it. Not fearing the people or things
or even death in this world. They endure as seeing Him. You
remember how Hebrews 11 started? Faith is the substance of things
hoped for, the evidence of things not yet seen. And they're not looking for a
place, heaven, but a person. And through faith He kept the
Passover. Forty years as I began this message. Forty years, all
the people of God who came out by the power of God because of
the shed blood on the doorpost and everything, every single
one of them ate one thing, wandered, walked by faith through the wilderness, and it says in this chapter they
all died in faith. Is this your faith? And I haven't
been saying anything in my opinion or a man's opinion. I'm telling
you what this book says. That this is the faith of God's
love. Christ. His blood. His righteousness. Our hope is in Him. In Him alone. Not in me. I have no confidence
in the flesh. Not in experience. Not in the
profession of faith. It's in Him. Is that true? Okay. John's coming. Let's sing
a closing hymn.
