Okay, go back to Colossians 3
with me. Colossians chapter 3. Look at chapter 2, verse 20. Colossians 2, verse 20 says,
If ye be dead with Christ, verse 13 says, you being dead in your
sins, hath he quickened together with them? And chapter 3 begins,
"...if ye then be risen with Christ." And verse 3 says, "...for
you are dead." Dead, but alive, risen, but dead. What's this talking about? What's
this talking about? Dead, now alive, but still dead. It's talking about salvation
is what it's talking about. It's not something you can really
explain. Like the new birth. It's not
something you can explain. It's a miracle. It's something that's experienced.
That's what it is. He said there in chapter 2, verse
13, you being dead in your sins, hath he quickened together with
Christ." Dead. He's talking to people that were
once, he said, dead in sin, but have now been quickened by Christ,
the Word of life, given life. They were dead to God, meaning
it appeared they were alive, but the only thing they lived
for was sin. Alive to sin, but dead to God,
He didn't even give God a thought. He could hear the Word of God,
but didn't hear it. Blind to see God in everything. Blind to see himself. Dead. A
dead man. He's dead in it. He can't see,
he can't hear, he can't speak, he can't feel. Dead in sin. Alive to the world. Very much
alive to the world. Sin, but dead to God. You that
were dead had to be quickened. Made alive. Made alive. Raised by the power of God. Raised by the gospel of Christ. A new creature created in Christ
Jesus that was something that was never there before. Eyes
to see. Ears to hear. A heart that loves
God, the truth. A mouth that praises Him. Feet that run to hear Him. A
new creature. Alive unto God. Never was there
before. God did this. It's a miracle.
It's a new creature. Never existed before. No man had anything to do with
it. But they're born of God. Quickened together with Christ.
But he says, and you're dead. But you're dead. Dead to the world. No real desire. It's like a dead
man. The dead man dead to God, had
no thoughts of God, no real desire for God, wouldn't hear him and
so forth. Well, this new man is dead to
the world. This new man doesn't have any
desire. The new man has no desire for
the world. There's an old man, we're going
to get to him in a minute, there's an old man still there that's
still dead in sin. I'm talking about an old man
and a new man, and I'm talking about something that can't be
explained. Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit. It's a mystery. A new man and
an old man. Those that were dead in sin raised
by this gospel. God miraculously brings them
in. And they don't give. They're
there for whatever reason. They're there for God's purpose
or whatever reason to them. It's all wrong. But God, in mercy,
quickens them. Alive to things they were once
in. quickens them together with Christ,
because of Christ, in Christ, through Christ, through the gospel
of Christ, through this gospel of Christ. How do they quicken?
By hearing Christ pray. By hearing the gospel pray. This
is the power of God. He is the power of God. Salvation. So, he's writing to those, and
he says to those, if ye then be risen with Christ, verse 1,
And as much as I want to dwell on any one single verse down
here, I want us to look at the whole picture. If you then be
risen with Christ, made alive to God in Christ by faith, risen
with Christ, if you then be risen with Christ, if this has happened
to you, if God, who caused the light to shine in the dark, has
shined in your heart, to get the light, the knowledge, the
glory of God in the face of Christ. Seek those things which are above,
where Christ sits at the right hand of God. Seek those things. Now, everyone ought to seek the
Lord. If you don't seek the Lord, if you don't call upon the Lord,
you'll not be found. If you don't call and ask the
Lord, Whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord, you, whosoever
calleth on the name of the Lord shall be saved from the heart
with a need. Lord, help me. Show me. Show me myself. Show
me Christ. Speak to me. If you don't, He
won't. He won't. That's just how He
said that. Ask not. Everyone should seek. Seek means to go after. That's
what it means. Go after. Everyone ought to seek
the Lord. Go after Him who's alive. But
now he's especially speaking to believers here. Seek those
things which are above, things that are higher. We're going
to sing that at the close of this message. Things that are
higher, things that are nobler, not base things. We sang that
song last Sunday. Look how we grovel here below,
fond of these earthly toys, like worms, like dirt. Surely I'm
made for something higher. You are. Things that are higher,
things that are nobler. Only when it gives you life will
you do that. Things that are higher, greater,
more excellent. What excellent things. There's
nothing more excellent than the excellency of the knowledge of
Christ Jesus, my Lord. Nothing more excellent. Satisfying,
not vanity. Don't set your heart on vanity.
Things below, perishing things of clay that
are born but for one brief day pass from my heart away. The
Lord Jesus Christ. Now, that's my position. Promised
land where my possessions lie. What's that? It's a who. Where Christ sits at the right
hand of God. Queen of Sheba, Solomon gave
her a lot, didn't he? After she came and heard him,
saw him ascend his throne, he gave her a lot of things. When
she went home, she wasn't talking about things. Talking about him. What have we to do anymore with
idols, Hosea said? We've heard Him. We saw His glory. Set your mind, verse 2, your
affection, your heart on things above, not on things on the earth. Not on things on the earth. A
game I've got written down here, Psalm 27, verse 4. Right there beside that. One
thing that I desire of the Lord, that will I seek. And I've got
verse 8 written down. When you said, seek my face,
I said, your face. But I said, seek those things
above where Christ is. Set your affection. You ever
had your mind set on something? Somebody, you say, he's got his
mind set on that and there's no turning him. Oh my Lord, please
set my mind. What do you want? You know, God
gives us what we want. What do you want? What are you
after? Those men came to him. He said, whom seek? What do you
seek? What are you looking for? They said, Master, where you
dwell. He said, come on. They got him. Seek. Go after. Set your heart. Have you ever had your heart
set on something? How many times? He got his heart
set on that. What? Oh, set your affection on things
above. Now, before I go any further,
I'm going to say what I say nearly every time I preach. Without
him, we can do nothing. We can't set our mind, our heart,
our affection on anything. This is for those that he quickens.
A dead man, this is not talking to dead people. It's talking
to alive people. It's talking to people whom God
has made alive unto Him, whom He's quickened by His Spirit. And we need quick, constant quickening,
don't we? Constant quickening. Because
we get dead, He says, wake up now. Set your heart, your affection,
your mind on things above. Quit looking. Quit! That's what
He said. Don't look. Look on. Look right on. Don't look to
the right. Look right on now. Don't fall
asleep. Let's go on. He says, you're
dead and your life is hid with Christ in God. John Davis, that's
why I said, as much as I'd like to dwell on one verse, that verse
right there is glorious. Verse 11, Christ is all. Glory! He says you're dead. You're dead. I was going to have you turn to
Romans 6, but I'm not going to do it for the sake of time. It
goes there in that chapter to say, and read it for yourself,
How can we that are dead to sin live any longer therein? And
he goes on to say, Reckon yourselves to be dead. Dead. What's he talking about? Well, the old man that is in us, is dead in sin. He always will be. That's all
he can do. That's all he can do. He hates
holiness. He loves sin. He loves death,
dead things, flesh. He's a man of flesh. He was born in flesh and flesh
is what he goes after. What's flesh? Dead. Dead things. He's dead. He's dead in sin. And that old man who was born
in sin, a rebel against God, hating God and would go on his
whole life cursing God, full of bitterness, never thanking
God, God said, he deserves to die. That man deserves the wages
of his sin, his death. So what did God do? God Almighty
put him on the cross. God Almighty sent His Son, Jesus
Christ, down here and said, I'm going to take that rotten, no-good
man who deserves to die on myself. I'm going to become, I'm him.
And he went to Calvary's tree and God Almighty killed that
old rotten, no-good sinner called Henry Sword. Punished him for
sins. Killed him. God said he deserves
to die in Christ. God killed him. Punished him. Sent him to hell where he belongs. Now hold on. There's a new man. I'm speaking thanks to a wonderful
man. Do you understand that I can't explain this? Well, it's just
so. But there's a new man created in the image of God, just like
Jesus Christ, unto holiness, that loves holiness. That old
man doesn't love holiness and never will. And he's with us
from then on, until the day that God Almighty finally puts him
in this body, in the ground, and we're free from that old fellow. He's going
to be with us the rest of our day, and he's a new man. Tell
me, is it not so with you? There's a new man. He wasn't
there before, but now he loves God. He loves holiness. Read the article about Christ
made in the likeness of sinful flesh, touched with the feeling
of our infirmities, yet without sin. Read that. He was without
sin, but he was touched by it. Could feel it. Made sin. Finally. And this new man is
holy. He loves holiness. He's touched
with this feeling of holiness. but without perfection. You understand
what I'm trying to get at? He doesn't have perfection, but
he wants it. David said, I will awake, I'll
be satisfied when I awake with thy likeness. I'll behold thy
face, he said, in righteousness, in holiness, without which no
man will see the Lord. That holy man, he's there, he's
there. He said, I'm not going to be satisfied until I awake
in thy likeness. Is that you? I want to be like
Christ. Tired of this sin. Who's that
talking? Who's talking? It's that new
man. He never talked like that before.
Edgy at the same. Never talked like
that before. Who's talking? Christ, isn't
he? It's the hope of glory. So, he said, you're dead. You've been killed. You've been
put on the cross. You, reckon it to be so. Reckon
it to be so. Consider it to be so. God does. You do it too. That's where your
strength lies. Reckon him dead. Put him on the
cross. Keep in mind. That he's dead. He's a goner. He's dead. And consider this. Reckon yourselves
soon to be dead. That you're dying. It's so. We're dying. I told Mindy, I look in the mirror
now, and it shocks me. I see an old man. You know, Henry,
you don't think I'm old, Hannah does. It's all relative. I kid Ron
about being 60, and he's 60. That's not old, is it? It's really
not old to a person in their 80s. But it is to somebody in
their 20s. They can't imagine being 60.
Your good is gone to them. Well, reckon yourself dead. You're
dead. You're dead. I've got a picture
of myself. One time a man was moving overseas, my neighbor,
and I built a box to put all his belongings in. It was about
the shape of a coffin. And before we loaded it up, I
said, hold on. And I climbed down in that box and I laid there
and I said, get a picture of this. No, this is a good thing. I'm
serious. I see it every now and then. I pull it out. I lay it
there. I've got it in my desk drawer. I'm dead. I mean, that's me. Dad, you haven't
got many days here. I don't either. I don't either. As good as dead. Our Lord said
to Adam, dying, you shall die. Reckon it to be so. Reckon it
to be so. You're dead. You're dead. But living, you shall live. Those that die in Christ, they
don't die. Reckon it to be so. Reckon it
to be so. Your life is hid. Here I am dwelling
on this verse. Your life is hid with Christ
in God. There are two ways to look at
that. Both are true. Your former sinful
life is hid. Thank God. It's under the blood. God said, the iniquity of Israel,
all of my people, every one of them, no matter how bad they
were, that you try to look for it, you won't find it. Why? It's
hid here with Christ under the blood, under the mercy seat.
With God in Christ, with God in his mind and his heart, and
Satan and even yourself says, but, but, but, but, God says,
there is therefore now no condemnation. Who shall lay anything to the
charge of God's will? God said, I have justified him
freely by my grace through the redemption that's in Christ Jesus.
But, but, there'll be no buts around here. He's clean. Now he's clean because I said
so. Reckon it to be so. Your life is hid with Christ
in God. Thank God. They're going to open
the books and my life is not going to be there. But he's going to read, Brother
Stan, he's going to read, if he reads my name, he'll say,
Paul Mahan kept the law perfectly, clean hand, pure heart, never
swore deceitfully. But I didn't do that. No, but
Christ did. Your life is, Christ said, because
I live. I'm your substitute. Reckon it
to be so. Whew! You're a sinner, buddy.
That will make your heart leap. I give thanks. Also, this way,
your life is hid with Christ in God. This new man is hid. It doth not yet appear what we
shall be. I can't see him. Can you? I can see Him in you, but I can't
see Him in me. You know, before, He was the
other way around, wasn't it? When you were dead, you thought, look
at me. Ain't I something? Everybody else said, man, you
think too high of yourself. Everybody else said, doesn't
He see what we see? Like that, it's the other way
around. God's people see a new man in the image of Christ. They see it. But you don't see
it. It's a mystery. You don't see
it? You look in the mirror and what do you see? An old man!
There he is again! Right? No. See, you're hid. You're hid. See, Christ, the
Scripture says, the world knew him not. Religion says, let others see
Jesus in you. They didn't see Jesus in Jesus. They couldn't tell any difference
in him. God's people could. And as much as you may try, the
world knew him not, and it knoweth us not, and it doth not yet appear
unto us. We don't even know ourselves
who are his. He is in God, in his love, in his care, in his
will, in his covenant, in his heart, in his mind. Go on. Verse 4, when Christ our life
shall appear, then ye shall appear with him in glory. Written emphatically,
Christ our life shall appear and he shall. The trumpet is
going to sound very soon. You see those clouds in the sky
today? Do you see them? It's the dust of his feet. He's getting up. Pay attention. You hear the trees
clapping? He's about to come. Yes, sir. Then you, He says, you are alive
with Christ, raised with Him, crucified with Him, raised with
Him. In a moment, a twinkling of an eye, you'll be changed. This corruption will put on incorruption. You will appear with Him, but
not before the dead, and Christ rise first. Thy brothers and
sisters, all who fell asleep in him, will rise in their new
bodies from the grave, like when Christ died the first time they
arose, and when He comes a second time, they're all going to rise,
and so shall we meet the Lord, be with Him in the air." Glorify
Him in glory. In glory. Gloriously beautiful
new creatures in the beauties of holiness. in the image of
Christ, around the throne of Christ, to the praise of the
glory of his grace." Glory. Glory. Hallelujah. Glory. You see that? In glory. I'd like to dwell there a while. Now, let's go on. He says, "...mortify
therefore your members." Read on down through verse 7. Mortify
your members, your flesh, your body upon the earth. Fornication,
uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, that is,
desires and longings and covetousness which is idolatry. For which
things say, because of these things the wrath of God cometh
on the children of disobedience, into which you also walked at
one time when you lived in them or for them. Mortify. That means, remember, you're
dead. Crucified with Christ. How shall
we that are dead to sin live any longer therein? Mortify your
members by considering, by looking to Christ crucified. And he says
in verse 9, look down there, put off the old man with his
deed. Lie not one to another, seeing
you have put off the old man with his death. Now let's talk
a few minutes about this old man and new man a little bit
more. Have you ever been put off by
someone? Put off the old man. Have you? That means they don't want anything
to do with you. You call them and they don't
answer. They want to come over and you
won't let them in. He's putting me off. Put off. Put down the old man. That's
what he said. Shun him. Put off. Now, the old
man won't go away forever, that is. But by God's
grace, he can be put off. And it's a daily thing. You wake
up and he's there. You go to sleep and he's there.
Brother Henry said to me years ago, he said, you know, I try
to get away from myself. He said, I try to run from myself. And he said, wherever I go, I'm
still there. Only those who have this battle
know what he's saying. This old man, put him off. This mortification, this putting
off. Don't let him in and don't feed
him or he'll stick around. Starve him. New man, you've got to feed him.
Old man, you've got to starve him. The old man lives on one
thing. One thing. Flesh. He loves it. He still loves it. Who's he talking to? Who's he
writing to? The world? Believers? Do believers
have trouble with these things? Do they have flesh? Is a believer
capable of doing these things that he just warned us? Are they
flesh? Well, of course they are. Well,
then, of course they do. There's an old man there. He's
talking to the new man there, Jeanette, isn't he? Put him off. Starve him. Starve him, the old
man. Starving. Young people in every epistle,
and old people, talks about fornication, uncleanness and so forth. And
this is more needful now than ever in the history of the human
race. Every epistle warns. Why? because it's so remnant. It's
so acceptable and so accessible. Now especially, the ease with
the onset of TV and the computers and cell phones and all that,
in a day when it's such easy access and such easy temptation,
and we've got this flesh to deal with, and we always will have
it today, He says, put it off. It's a hold, a quagmire. Put it off. As long as we're in this world,
we'll be tempted by it because we're flesh. How does the Lord
keep us? And by the way, he says covetousness. It's no better than fornication. Doesn't it? The same, he said,
for these things. One might not have a problem
with this, and might have a problem with this. It's the same thing.
It's identical. How does God keep us? How does
he keep us? How do we put off these things?
Well, look at verse 1. He says, now put off all these,
put these things off. Put these things off. Anger,
wrath. Anger means getting mad. Don't
get mad at anybody but yourself. Wrath, that's anger boils over. Malice, that means I'll get even
with you. Blasphemy, what happens when
all that's over with is you blaspheme God. God is blaspheming. Filthy communication. Cursing. It's a popular day, isn't it?
Cussing makes you sound... put it off. Be done with it.
Be done with it. How does God keep us, though,
from this time? What does he tell us to do? He
says we're kept by the power of God. And His power is His
Word, His power is His grace, His power is His Spirit, His
power is what we're doing right now. It's His cleansing power. We come to Christ and look into
Christ crucified, we see, Lord, how can I, you who were crucified
for that sin, how can I continue any longer there? It's the only thing you can do.
We're kept by the power of God, you know, unless the Lord keeps
us, unless He subdues this, and thank God He said, sin will not
have dominion over you. That old man will not have dominion
over you. You're not, because you're not under, you've got
a new master now. Allow only what serves to keep
you humble. and keep you looking to me, I'll
allow that to happen to you. If you get lifted up with pride,
I'm able to abase you, but also to forgive again and again and
again and again. But we're kept by the power of
God. The children of Israel talked about these things. The children
of Israel, when Moses left for 40 days, when they quit hearing Moses,
the Word of God from Moses now, An Arab should have been, but
he wasn't. When in forty days they were dancing naked around
a calf. That's both the same. And so
would we. We are from under this gospel.
We talk about this gospel. Who's standing up today about
needing this gospel? Young people, you're not going
to hear these things. The whole world is telling you
all this stuff is okay. It's alright. Do it. Go ahead.
They encourage you to do it. God says it's death. It's death. And those who are in it know
it's death. But now, put off all these things.
How do you put off them? We can't do it. Without Him,
we can do nothing, can we? Well, Lord, Gideon said, quoting
Psalm 12, help, Lord. What's the rest of that verse?
Help, Lord, for the godly man ceases. The faithful fail, Lord. Help me. I can't. I can't do
it. I can't do it. Lie not, he said,
one to another. No more guile or deceit like
the world. You know, it's sports to be deceptive
and get away with it. No, no more. Verse 10, he put
on a new man, renewed in knowledge, the knowledge of God, of Christ,
after the image of him that created him. Verse 11, there's neither
Greek nor Jew in Christ. Thank God there's no respecter
of persons. As a new man, as no respecter
of persons, you're not under the law, yet you're under the
law of Christ. You're not a Greek. You're not a savage. You're not
a Jew. You're not a barbarian. You're not in bondage, but you're
not free. You're the Lord's bond slave. Christ is all. To all of them,
Christ is all. All their hope. All their salvation.
And in all of them. That's what that says. Put on,
therefore. Read on with me, okay? I'm going
to look at this. It's needful. He said, Put on,
therefore, as the elect of God. There's that word again. Elect. Who's made alive? Who's going
to be made alive? The elect. You can't make yourself
that. You can't will it. You won't
will it. The old man doesn't will it.
But God willed it. Chosen people. As the elect of
God, holy and beloved. God loves them. And they've been
chosen in Christ before the foundation of the world that they might
be holy. That means set apart. Holy. And then he goes on to describe
real holiness. Here's holiness. What is holiness? What is holiness? It's not like
these people dressed in black say. Number one, you don't dress in
black. That doesn't make you holy. God's
not dressed in black. He dwelleth in light. And all
the saints in glory are dressed in white robes. Where do they
get that? That's not it. If we think we are or think we're
doing something, we're not. What is it? It's to be like God. Holiness is set apart from the
world. Look at it. Here it is, verse
12. Bowels of mercies. Bowels of mercy. This is that
new creature. This is that new man. He never
had any feelings of mercy for anybody but himself. Now, as
the elect of God, Holy. Put on like me. God said, be
holy. I'm holy. How is he? Merciful. Tell him the Lord. I'm the Lord.
The Lord God. Merciful. Be merciful. Be kind. Humbleness of mind. Humility of mind. Think low thoughts
of yourself. Why is that? Because that's what
we are. Low. That's right thoughts. Humility
is just having the right thoughts of yourself. Only one thing will
show you that. Look at him. Meekness. What's
meekness? Submission to authority. Submission
to authority. Long-suffering. What's that mean?
Well, it means putting up with. You know, the long-suffering
of the Lord is our salvation. If the Lord, Brother Dan, doesn't
put up with us until the day he puts us in the grave, we're
gone. That's our salvation. You know, it just might save
our friendship and our marriage and so forth, long suffering.
Put up with one another. Read on. Forbearing one another. What does that mean? That means
covering. The word forbear means cover.
Cover. Love covereth. Doesn't expose. Doesn't bring
out the sins and the faults and so forth. Exposed to others.
No, no, no, no, no. Love covers. Isn't that what
Christ did? He hung on that cross with all
my secrets and He opened up His mouth. Expose them. Come down from the cross. Save
yourself. Can't. Save others. I'm going to die
with their sins because I love them. Covereth. Covereth. Forbeareth. Forgiving. You notice I-N-G? Forbearing. Forgiving one another. Forgiving. This is holding us. This is holding us. Forgiving. It's an ongoing thing. Forgiving. Peter one time said, Lord, how
long? How many times must I put up
with old Stan? He keeps doing that and acting
that. How long? The Lord said 490 times. 70 times 7. Every day. Why? Because that's how He forgives
you. Read the next line. Because Christ,
even as Christ forgave you, And forgiveth, and forgiveth, and
forgiveth. Brother Stan, he said, to the merciful, he'll show himself
merciful. If you forgive men their trespasses, he said, I'll
forgive you. Man, oh man. Lord, help. Lord, help. That old man is not very forgiving.
He's not. Above all, put on love, which
is the bond of perfectness. You love somebody, you will cover
their fault. You love somebody, you will forgive
them. Love, that's maturity. That's what it means to be like
God and like Christ. Let the peace of God rule in
your heart. Let it rule in your heart. Settle
this in your heart. One time, oh, I want to dwell
someday with you, Christ said, possess your souls in peace. So he said to his disciples one
time, he said, possess your souls in peace. Get a hold of yourself. That's
what he was saying. What do you mean? I'm the Lord. I'm God. Be still. We won't have any peace if we
look at, listen to anybody, anything, self, anywhere, anything. But
when we look to Him, you know He is on the throne, isn't He? Listen to Him. Quit listening
to voices. There are many voices. They all
tear you to pieces. But you listen to Him. You're
going to hear of wars and rumors of war. You're going to hear
that. Look, listen. But now listen to this. The warfare
is accomplished. John, did you hear that? Say
it again. Our Lord said, you're going to hear of wars and rumors
of war. It's going to tear you all to
pieces. Possess your souls. Remember this, not one bullet
flies except I make it fly. I am the Lord. Believe. Look to me, you'll have
peace. Go to sleep. Go to sleep. I've
got you covered. Huh? That gives you peace. That's
the only thing that will. He's the only one that will.
Let the peace of God rule in your heart. Christ made... What
about my sins? Oh, Kelly Johnson, but He is
our peace. He made peace by the blood of
His cross. Yes, He did in your life. Let's
go back there. I want to go back there and spend another hour
of your life. Your sins are gone. They're under the mercy seat,
John. They're under the mercy seat. But I see them every day.
God doesn't. Oh, bless God. Bless the Lord. I don't see them. They're under the blood. That
will make peace rule your heart. To which you're called in peace.
One body. Peace. Let peace rule. And be thankful. That will quit
you. That will stop our cursing and
bitterness and murmuring. Be thankful. Bite this tongue
when you start to cuss. Bite it. And then use it for what its
real purpose is, giving thanks. Render the calf of your lamb.
Let the peace of God, the Word of God of Christ dwell in you
richly. That's what we're doing right
now. What we did Wednesday night, line upon line, precept upon
precept. The Word of God dwells in you richly. If God Almighty
lets His sayings sink down deep in your ears and plants them,
orders it in you, writes it on the tables of your heart, wisdom, oh my, from above. It will teach you, it will admonish
in one another. Now, people, that doesn't mean
that we're supposed to rebuke one another openly and tell each
other what we're doing wrong. That's not what that means. How
do we admonish one another? We don't. In psalms and hymns
and spiritual songs. That's the only thing that will
rebuke us. If somebody reads a psalm to
us or sings a song or whatever, we'll hear the voice of God,
the Word of God, and that will rebuke us. It will admonish us.
The flesh gets upset. But that new man, he responded
to the Word of God. That's how. Singing with grace
in your heart. And whatever you do, in word
or deed, this is what it's all about. The name. That's what we looked at this
morning. The name of the Lord Jesus. That's why He saved us. for his name's sake. Do it in
the name of Christ for his honor. Go give him thanks to God and
the Father by him. And I believe, and beloved, I'm
persuaded these things of you. I see the new man in all of you,
and most of you. And I praise God for it. And I praise God, I thank God
that He has given us this blessed Word to keep us, to feed that
new man, to feed and armor and strength and so forth that we
need so desperately. If you've been risen with Christ,
with God, set your heart and your mind on things above, not
things on earth. Let's turn to hymn number 389
and stand together.
