Thank you. All right, go back to John's
epistle, 1 John chapter 5 with me again. We looked at this less than a year ago, last June.
But we have been studying 1 John, as you know. And now we come
to this chapter again. I take that as being in God's
providence and that we must need this. Let's read verses 4 and
5 again. whatsoever is born of God overcometh
the world, and this is the victory that overcometh the world, our
faith. Who is he that overcometh the
world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God."
Overcoming the world is the subject here in these verses, the title
of this message. The world is spoken of many,
many, many, many times throughout God's work. In the Gospel of
John alone, this is just one book, the Gospel of John, seventy-seven
times speaks of the world. Seventy-seven times. When our
Lord prayed in John seventeen, that's one chapter, when he prayed,
he mentioned the world nineteen times. Nineteen times. In this epistle, this letter,
Twenty-three times John talks about the Word. Stay with me. There are seven
letters to the churches in the Revelation. Seven letters that
begin the letter, the Revelation, as you know. Every single letter
to the church, to these churches. And each one of them, he talks
about he that overcometh. So many, many, many things are
said about the world in God's Word. And not one of those is good. Not one good thing. Now that's significant. God's
Word doesn't say one positive thing about the world. Every reference, every single
reference in God's Word is bad, is negative, is evil, and warns
us about the world. And here it says, who is he that
overcometh? the world. Salvation, here's
what it means to be saved, in a nutshell, to be saved. It means that by God's grace,
the world has not overcome you. You've overcome the world. That's
what's said there in those letters, He that overcometh. Damnation,
the opposite of salvation, means being overcome by this world. We live in this world. Every
one of us lives in this world. And our salvation will be as
if we are not overcome by it. Now, we are in 1 John, the epistle
of 1 John chapter 5. Very simply, what does it mean
to be overcome by something? Or to overcome something? The
word overcome means to be controlled by. under the absolute influence
of something or someone. We say things like this, she
or he was overcome with emotion. It means they were totally in
the grips of emotion. They were overcome with grief.
That means they were controlled by this grief where they couldn't
think rationally. They couldn't act rationally
or reasonably. They were under the control of
Certain so-and-so is under the, is overcome by this and that
and the other. Overcome by desire, overcome
by sadness, greed, ambition, overcome with drink or this and
that and the other. Here he talks about the
world being overcome by the world. Go back to chapter 2, 1 John
chapter 2. This, the world, basically means
three things, all right? Three things. Every time the
word world is used, it can, it basically means one of three
things. OK? All right, look at 1 John, chapter
2, verses 15 and 16. He says, Love not the world,
neither the things that are in the world. There seem to be two
different things there concerning the world. Love not the world,
neither, or that is, neither, or in addition, do not love the
things in the world. If any man love the world, the
love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world,
the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of
life is not of the Father, but is of the world. So here are these three things. The world basically means one
of three things. Number one, it means the ways
of the world. The ways of the world. Number
two, it means the things, the possessions, material things
in this world. Or number three, it means the
people. people of the world. Now, stay
with me. Don't be overcome by sleep, please. This is too vital. I told myself this morning, and
I'm just going to tell this. I'm totally dependent on God
to make this, to speak to us. Chapter 4 speaks
of false prophets, doesn't it? Look at verse 1. You heard the
radio message. It was on this. Beloved, believe
not every spirit. Try the spirits. That's preachers.
Put them to the test, whether they are of God, because many
false prophets are gone out into the world amongst the people,
all over the planet amongst the people. And then in verse 4 and
5, Look at this, it says, You are of God, little children,
and have overcome them. You've overcome. You're not overcome
by these false prophets. And many people are, aren't they?
Totally seduced by them, Paul said, evil men and seducers wax
worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived. And many, Peter
said, shall follow their pernicious ways by whom the truth is evil
spoken thereof. Overcome by these fellows so
that they don't reprobate. Well, verses 4 and 5 says, you're
of God, little children, have overcome them, because greater
is he that is in you. That is, whatever is born of
God, overcome it. It's not going to be taken by
these fellows. Read on. They are of the world, verse
5. These false prophets and false creatures are of the world. That's
where they come from. Therefore speak they of the world,
the things of the world, and the world, the people. Here's
You see these distinct definitions of the world, huh? You see that?
All right, let's look at this a little bit, okay? The world,
the ways of the world, the things of the world, and the people
of the world. Who is he that overcometh? The world. All right,
the ways of the world. That's the thoughts and opinions
of the world. The thoughts, opinions, ideas,
of the world, what the world thinks about everything. And
everybody has an opinion, don't they? But you know most folks,
their opinion is exactly the same about God, about man, and
about how man can get to God. That's right, most everybody. It doesn't matter what kind of
religion. Brother Kelly, you and I talked
about this last week. It doesn't matter what the religion,
the name of it is. It's either one of two religions,
isn't it? It's either works or grace. It's either something
man does to get to God. or it's something God does for
man. It's either something man does
in cooperation or obedience or whatever to God, and God rewards
him or her for what they've done, no matter what it is, of morality
or good works or service or faith even. They accepted Jesus, so
to speak, or they dedicated and consecrated and so forth and
lived for him. Or it's 100% the grace of God
Almighty in that God came to them, they weren't seeking him,
and they weren't deserving, they weren't worthy, and God had mercy
and grace and freely bestowed on them and freely saved them,
did it all. save them. It's either we, God
and me, we save me, or the Lord hath saved us. It doesn't matter what the religion
is, whether it's Buddhism or so-called Christianity. It doesn't
matter if it's Methodist or Baptist, Catholic or Pentecostal. It doesn't
matter what it is. It's either works or grace. It can't be both. Paul talked
about this, didn't he? See, if it works, it's no more
grace. If it's grace, it's not working. The ways of this world and the
people of this world think that if I'm going to get to heaven,
I'm going to have to quit this, I'm going to have to quit that,
I'm going to have to do this, I'm going to have to do that. I'm
going to have to turn over a new leaf. And I'm going to, I'm going
to, I'm going to have to, I, I, I, I, I. That's what the people
came to Christ and said. What must we do to do the works
of God? What did Christ say? He didn't say if you'll, from
now on if you'll start this stuff. He said this is the work of God.
And what he said there is so This is the work of God, that
you believe on him whom he has sent. In other words, faith is
not of yourself. It's the gift of God. It's the
work of God. We which believe according to
the working of his mighty power, Ephesians 1 says. Nobody's going
to believe faith is not of yourself. It's the gift of God. True faith,
that is. I mean, look into Christ and Christ alone. Believe in
him and him alone. And the scripture says there's a way that seems
right unto men. This is the way my granddaddy
believed, this is the way my daddy believed, this is the way
I believe. We've all been good Baptists
and this and that and the other. That won't save you. The way,
the end thereof, is the ways of death. Stand before God someday
and plead what all you've done and even faith. Plead faith. I did accept Jesus. Who is he that overcometh the
ways of this world, the religion of this world? But he that believeth
that Jesus is the Christ. What does that mean? The Lord
asked Peter and his disciples one day, He said, Whom do men
say that I am? And they said all sorts of good things about
him. A good man like John, a good man like one of the prophets.
He said, Who do you say that I am? We believe and are sure
that thou art with Christ. What does that mean? It means
our only hope is salvation. It means if we get to God, that
Christ is going to take us there. One hundred percent. Who is he that overcometh? God
said, My thoughts are not your thoughts. My ways are not your
ways. The way that seems right to man, the end is destruction.
There's two men walk in, two men walk in the synagogue to
worship, OK? One man is a religious man. He's been religious all his life.
His whole life has been dedicated to religion. Everybody believes
he's a moral man, an upright man, a good man. Anybody, everybody
believes if anybody's saved, that man is. The Lord told this story. He
said, after it was over, that man was condemned by God. At the same time, there was another
man in that place. Everybody thought, if anybody's
lost, he is. Why, he's the most despicable,
sinful, worst man we know. Everybody thought they were better
than him. Christ said that this man went
down to his house justified, completely cleared by God Almighty,
accepted by God Almighty, declared holy, righteous, unblameable,
unreprovable in God's sight, and allowed into God's heaven
someday. God said, My ways are not your
way. Good people don't go to heaven. the worst to do. I said, my ways
are not your ways. My thoughts are not your thoughts.
This is the way I think it is, preacher. Then it's wrong. Then it's wrong. The ways of
this world. Let me clarify that. How good
do you have to be to go to heaven? As good as God. as good as God, as holy as God.
God said, Be ye holy if I am holy. He said it shall be perfect
to be accepted. If you're going to get to God,
if you're going to get to heaven by doing anything, it better
be perfect. I mean perfect in thought, word,
and deed all your lives from the day you were born to the
day you die. Not one sin in it. Who can do that? Who has done
that? There's only one man ever lived
that did. One man. And Psalm 24 talks about
it. Here he comes walking into heaven,
and the gates of heaven swing wide open to let him in. He's
earned heaven. Everybody in heaven must let
him in. God lets him in. Who is it? Just one man. King of glory. The Lord of glory. The Lord Jesus
Christ. The man. The perfect man. The
Holy One of Israel. That is, the Holy One of God's
people. He. He was a perfect man, holy. And
God said, well, please, come on into heaven. You've earned
it. How do we get there? In Him. He takes us. Who does He take? He was hanging on a cross. And
all those self-righteous people out there hated what He said
because He said these very things. He said, the publicans and the
harlots are going to get into heaven before you bunch of religious
people. And they killed him. We won't
take that. And while he was hanging on a
cross, there was a thief and a murderer who had never done
one good work all of his life. hanging on that cross. And the
Lord looked at him and said, Today shalt thou be with me in
paradise. I'm going into heaven. The gates
are going to swing wide open, and you're coming with me. There is a way. Who is he that
overcometh the ways of this world, the thoughts, the opinions, the
pursuits, the directions, the opinions of this world, the religions
of this world? The next thing, the things of
this world, now listen to this, the same Lord Jesus Christ said
this, there is no thing entering into the mouth of a man that
can defile him. There's not one thing on this
planet earth that is sinful. You let the world hear that,
and they'd have. And they did. But when the Lord
said that, they got furious. And they didn't have the word
antinomian back then, but they'd have hurled it. Well, they accused
him of being a breaker of Moses' law. And the Lord said, You listen
to me. He turned to his people and he said, You listen to me.
There's not one thing he's put in his mouth that'll defile you. That'll damn you. Now, what do people think? If
you can just stay away from this, stay away from that, put that
down, quit that, you'll be more moral. No, because
you've got something that you can't get rid of that causes
you to do these things, to excess. See, things don't defile us. We defile things. We defile things. Man, things
don't abuse us. We abuse things. Nobody forces us to do something. We take this thing and abuse
it to no end, right? Nothing wrong with that thing.
The problem is in here. Our Lord said, Out of the heart
proceedeth these evils and thoughts and adulteries and drunkenness
and all of that. And no thing, Paul said in Romans
14, 14, I am persuaded by the Lord Jesus Christ that there's
nothing, no thing evil of itself. But people are overcome with
things, aren't they? People become overcome with things. They give themselves, mind, body,
and soul to things. Nobody forced them to do that.
It's not because their daddy was this way. No, sir. They do
it by choice, whether it's food or drink or riches or recreation
or pleasure or whatever it is. People go after things. Why?
Because things are what people want. Lovers, the Scripture says,
of pleasure more than God. Things. What is it that people
think will make them happy? What is it the world goes after?
The world. What are we bombarded with all
around us, everywhere we see, everywhere you look? Things.
And people want things. And they become overcome with
the pursuit of things. And then they get these things
and abuse them to no end until they're finally, totally, completely
overcome with whatever. Overcome with it. And they can't
think. They're under the control and the total influence of these
things. Who is he that overcometh the things of this world? He that believeth that Christ
is all. Why do people go after things?
They think they need them. Who is he that overcometh? He
that needs Christ. He who sees in Christ all and
in all. Pray with me now. Come on. And the worst, most overcoming
thing of all is people. Talked about the ways of this
world, the things of this world, the people of this world. Now
listen to me, we're human beings. We're flesh and blood human beings. The most difficult thing of all
to deal with and the thing that most everyone is overcome with
are people, relationships, fellow human beings. Man is a, the word
is gregarious, it means, man was created clean, a clean animal.
Clean animals all go in flocks. Clean animals and unclean animals.
Clean animals were all in a herd and a flock. All clean animals
in a herd and a flock. They flocked together. They have
to have one another. They have to have companionship
and so forth. Not unclean. You see a lion roving
all over the place by himself. Man is a gregarious creature.
He was created a clean animal. He needs companionship. God says
it's not good that man should be alone. He sent him a woman
to help him out. All right? There's nothing wrong
with companionship. It's a good thing the Lord said
that. But now, man fell and man became
overcome with his fellow man. And we, by nature, thrive on
and live for these relationships, trying to impress our fellow
man. trying to please our fellow man. Man needs the praise of, the
approval of our fellow man. And men and women
and young people will kill or be killed to seek this approval
and this praise and this companionship of people. We want people to
think well of us and praise us and and approve of us and so
forth. There's only one way to overcome
that. There's only one way to not care
what anybody thinks about you. There's only one way to not be
overcome by any human being to where you can't think straight, and that's to be overcome by
the Lord Jesus Christ. Are you with me? How important is this? Whatever
is born of God, overcome it. This is a fact. He's not saying,
if you'll get born again, then you can overcome it. What's born
of God? John 1, 12 and 13 says, As many
as received him, to them gave he the power, that is, a right
and a privilege, to become the sons of God which were born.
The reason they receive him, man can receive nothing except
to be given him from above. The reason they receive him is
because they were born, not of flesh, not of blood, not naturally
speaking, not of the will of man or the will of the flesh,
but of God. God gave birth to a new creature
created in Christ Jesus, as he is. So are we in this world. Let me give you, all right, here's
the supreme example of overcoming the world. You're going to like
this. Those of you who like Christ,
you're going to like this. The Lord Jesus Christ was a man. He was born of God, wasn't He?
The seed of God. He came down there. He was in
this world, wasn't He? He was in this world, but He
was not other. He was not other. He was not
overcome by, he was not influenced by anything or anybody. I love this, come on now. The
Lord Jesus Christ was a man, like you're looking at a man
this morning, a flesh and blood human being. God became a man,
all right? He walked this planet. He was
not influenced or overcome by or in any way, shape and form,
influenced by anything or anybody. Anything. Anybody. Did not shape his thoughts. What
he thought about anything had nothing to do with what anybody
did or anybody said or what was going on around him. Nothing.
All of his thoughts, all of his, if you want to call it opinions,
was based on one thing. So nothing bothered him. Nobody
bothered him. He never fretted, never fussed,
never had distraught, never in distress, no fear. One thing
controlled his thoughts and his mind and everything about him.
What's that? God's Word. Everything he thought
was based on what God had said. He believed God and therefore
nothing bothered him. I want just the mustard seed
of this. Who is He that overcometh? Christ
did. He sure did. His thoughts and
His ways, oh, His thoughts and His ways were perfect. Why? Because they were in keeping
with God's Word. His deeds were perfect. Only
holy, as I said, only holy and righteous man to ever live, glorified
God always. He lived his life to serve God. Was he happy? Was he content?
Perfect. Perfect. Didn't need anything. He had no earthly possessions.
He had no, I'm not talking a little bit, none. For thirty-three years,
Ron, zero. One robe, one pair of shoes,
no roof over his head. Always, all times, in every situation,
content. Pouring down rain on his head,
content. A lot of food to eat. No food
for 40 days. That's fine too. Who is he that overcomes? Listen,
Christ should be a good chair. I've overcome. I've overcome. He had no worth of possessions.
He desired none. He desired, Kelly, he desired
nothing. Nothing. Nothing. I mean nothing. We can't even
get, we can't enter into that. We can't even conceive of that. They said, Eat, Lord, eat. Take
something to eat. You haven't eaten in days. You and I can't go six hours
until we think, I want to die. I'm dying. Eat, Lord, he said, I am. Who gave him something? Peter,
did you give him something? Simon, did you give him something? What are you eating? I have meat
to eat, you know. But you shall. He said, you shall. You'll know. The sweetest taste
of meat there is. It'll cause you to forsake your
very bread. You won't need it. You'll find
in it all your sustenance, all your substance, all your fulfillment.
You eat this stuff, it goes out in a draft. I'll eat this, and
it'll be in you. And like an old cow, he can pull
it up and chew on it again. Chew the cud. You know what I'm
talking about? That which is born of God does.
Huh? He knew things did not satisfy. The Lord Jesus Christ knew that
nothing. Solomon wrote a whole book about
it. Who is Solomon? The son of the king. The wise
one. Who does Solomon represent? Who
wrote the Song of Solomon? Solomon? No. Not greater than
Solomon. And the whole book's about this.
Vanity of vanity. All flesh is vanity. It doesn't
matter what it is. You're not going to find any
contentment in it. It doesn't matter what it is. Why do you
think that people are zillionaires? There's zillionaires out there
in the earth, I think. Well, billionaires. It's not
enough. It's not enough. I've got to
make another billion if I just have another billion. The guy
signs a contract for $10 million. It's not enough. I'm holding
that for $15 million. What? God! Do you know how long it
would take you to spend a million dollars? I've got to have another one
or I'll be happy. I'll just get one more. Advantage,
advantage. Scripture talks about the deceitfulness
of riches. Why is that? Because they deceive
you into thinking, if you had me, you'd be happy. That's deceitful. The Lord knew this. He knew this. Nothing, nothing satisfies Him. Only satisfaction, true
soul satisfaction, not in things, but in a person. Not in a place
either. It's a person. Heaven's not a
place where you'll find satisfaction. Heaven's not a place where you're
going to find joy forevermore and you'll just be happy pie
in the sky and sweep by and by with mama singing, you know,
it sounds like a wonderful place to be. It's a person. And our Lord knew this, no person
on earth, no person. can give you satisfaction. And
no person on this earth had any influence over the Lord Jesus
Christ. None. None. Or control over. Not one person. He needed no one. He needed no
one's approval but God. He needed no one's praise but
God. Scripture talks about being dead
to the world, doesn't it? Paul said, I'm crucified to the
world. And my pastor used this good
illustration. He said, if you're dead to the
world, the praise of the world won't help you out. The criticism of the world won't
bring you down. Go into a cemetery. And there's a man lying in the
grave there and praising him. Tell him what a handsome fellow
he is. That's fitting, isn't it? Tell
him what a man who brought him. What a handsome fellow. What
a good, sweet fellow he was. What a kind fellow he was. What
a nice fellow he was. If he's dead, he won't respond. Well. Telling one wrong. Thing. He's worthless he's weren't telling
you weren't. The. Lord was dead this work. They came one time. Everybody
loved him. The whole world. The Pharisees
said the whole world's gone after him. Everybody loves Jesus. Look at him. They're going to
make him king. He didn't need that. He didn't commit himself to it. Why do I need man to make me
a king when God already has? Huh? It would be like the Queen
of England going down to the island of Tortola where I just
came. The Queen of England sits on the throne in Buckingham.
Is that where she sits? Buckingham Palace? Sits on that
gilded throne up there with the crown jewels on her head and
all the riches and splendor of that. Going down to that two-bit
third world country and saying, now will you all let me be your
queen here? She doesn't need that. Neither did the Lord Jesus Christ.
Well, then after a while, the whole world hated him. They hated
him. Everybody hated him. Herod, Pontius
Pilate, and all the people crucified him. Even his friends left him. All
his friends persecuted him. The only time it bothered him,
Nancy, the only thing that bothered him, the only time he became
distraught was when one person left him. He didn't need anybody but one
person. My God, my God, why is thou forsaken? Well, what about us? What's this
got to do with us? Do you believe who he is, what
he did, what he came? He said, Be of good cheer, I
have overcome the world. Why did he do all this? Why did
he come down here? To show us how to do it? No.
To be our substitute. To do this for us. Because we
are overcome. When He finds us, we are overcome
by the world. He finds people that are overcome
by this world. That's who He finds. That's who
the Lord Jesus Christ finds. People that are drowning in this
world. They're in this world. He's got to do something for
them. He's got to change them. They've got to be born from above.
There's got to be a radical change. There's got to be new life given.
They're dead to God and alive to this world. They're drowning
in this world. All they're consumed with is this world, this world,
this world, the things of this world, the lust of the flesh,
the lust of the eyes, the pride of life. Oh, they want people
to think well of them. They live for approval and opinion
of people. Oh, if I can just have this person,
I'll be happy. I tell you, if you just have
one person, you'll be happy. Let me tell you who it is. The
Lord Jesus Christ. That's a fact. It's a fact. That way, if your husband leaves
you, your wife leaves you, Christ said, I won't leave you. If your
mother and father leave you, Scripture says, Christ said,
I'll take you up. He never divorces His bride,
ever. He said, Where is your bill of
divorce that I've written you? You won't find it. You'll never
find it. If you forsake me, you'll be like Gomer out there, and
I'll have to come find you again. But the Lord comes into this
cesspool called the world, and we're drowned in it. We're drowning
in it. I nick with this Psalm 38, says,
Over my head, drowning in this world, consumed with it, overcome
by things. Totally like dumb animals following
the world. Totally like dumb, stupid creatures
following people over a cliff. Teenagers aren't the only dumb
people. Human beings, grown-up adults
will follow people right over a cliff. Why are you doing that? He goes, that news says it. Why
do you believe that? Oh, Dan Rather said it. Now,
he wouldn't say it if it wasn't so. You stupid animal. Beast. You're worse than a beast.
I'll tell you who to believe. Somebody can't lie. Somebody can't lie. I'll tell
you who to follow. Christ said, follow me. In? Not over a cliff. It's up in
the glory. Enoch walked with God. He agreed
with God. I love that. Amos 3 says, Can
two walk together except they be agreed? Agree with God. I find myself,
the older I get, disagreeing with about everything that goes
on today, everything I hear. I find myself, whatever I hear,
not believing it. Don't believe that. Who can you believe? Who can you trust? Who's honest? David said, I said in my haste,
that all men are liars. And women, that means you too.
All human beings. Why? They've got something selfish
in mind. Not God. Not Christ. You can
trust Him implicitly. And whatsoever is born of God
overcometh the world. Now this is the victory. This
is the victory. Even our faith. He's not saying our faith. He's not saying it's something
that I did or I decided or I drummed up. But the faith that Christ
gave me is my faith. I believe. I don't believe because Henry
believes. I believe because God gave me
faith. God gave Henry faith. My faith,
his faith, our faith. That's something we drummed up.
This is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. God Almighty takes one of these
dead creatures in sin by the Word of God, quickens them by
His Word, so that from that point on, they're no longer totally
overcome by the things of this world. He's pulling them up out
of the muck and the mire. off the dung hill. You've got
a better place to sit. You're looking for better things,
Hebrews 11 says, better things. Come on out of this dung hill.
God is raising us up in Christ, quickened together with Christ.
Come on out of this. You're not going to find your
happiness here in the dung heap. And from following, don't follow
the crowd here. He turns us. The Lord turned
me, and the Scripture said, and I'll be turned. Now follow me. He calls us by His power. Follow
me. Like a dog, He finds us at the dog pound, destined to die
with the rest of them. He said, No, you're mine. I bought
you, I paid for you. Now follow me. Boy, like my little
auntie. Just follow me. As long as I
live, she's going to follow me. Don't need the praise and the
people and the things of this world, the approbation of this
world. They believe God, not the world.
As He is, so are we right now. Not perfect, not perfect, but like Him. Tell me, is it so with you? Who do you believe? This is a
victory to overcome the world. the ways of this world, the things
of this world, the people of this world. Let me ask you, who
do you believe? Who do you trust? Who do you believe? God or man? God or religion? Come on now,
this is a victory. Let's serve as born of God. Who do you need? What do you
need? What do you need to make you
happy? What do you need? Food? Rainwater? What really makes
you happy? And whose approval do you want? Who is it, when it's all said
and done, you want to approve of you, be accepted by? Everybody wants to be accepted,
a part of. Who is it you're after? Christ said, if it's me you're
after, it's whoever will come after me or will come to the
world. This is it. This is it. God has
to do it. We can't just up and decide it.
But he must do it. Okay. Let's sing a closing hymn. We got one picked out. 207. 207. That's good. I love this verse.
It says, O happy day that fixed my choice. Blessed is the man
thou choosest. Fixed my choice. Let's stand
and sing the first and last verses, okay? 207. I'll be back. Oh, happy day that fixed my joys,
only my Savior and my God. May His glory, heart rejoice,
and set His raptures all abroad. Happy day, happy day, when Jesus
washed my sins away. He taught me how to watch and
pray, and live rejoicing every day. Happy day, happy day, when
Jesus was my sin's away. Now rest my long, divided heart,
Fixed on this blissful center rest. Forever comes my lordly
heart, With hymn of exultation. Happy day, happy day, when Jesus
washed my sins away. He taught me how to watch and
pray, and with rejoicing every day. Happy day, happy day, when
even God has lived away.
