We'll get it together with you. ♪ Oh, bow the bird before my closing
eyes ♪ ♪ Drive through the blue and point me through the skies
♪ ♪ Let glory break, let earth reign terribly ♪ Thank you. That's an appropriate hymn
to sing. Brother Gabe chose. Swift to
its close ebbs out like little fay. Scripture tells us to number
our years, days. Because the older you get, the
years turn into days, don't they? They seem to fly by like days,
don't they? Amazingly, how swift time flies. Earth's joys grow dim, its glories
pass away. That's very fitting because we
read in our text in 1 John 2, he said, All that is in the world,
the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, the pride of the
life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world
passeth away, and the lust thereof. The word lust means desire. It means the things you look
for, the things you long for, to make one happy. When somebody
lusts for something, that means they want it, thinking it will
make them happy. But the Lord says these things
are fleeting and fading away, and they don't make one happy.
They really don't. They really don't satisfy. Nothing
can really satisfy you completely. You can get some temporal joy. Some temporary satisfaction but
it. Doesn't last very long. And that
made me think of what David said in psalm seventeen verse fifteen
he said I will await I'll be satisfied. I'll really be satisfied. When I awake with my life someday. And he said in psalm sixteen
he said at the right hand. are his fullness of joy, fullness
of joy, real joy. We've had a little joy down here,
but it doesn't last, and all of the sorrow and all that diminishes
that joy. No matter how much joy we take
in people and things, when we lose them, the sorrow is overwhelming. But he said,
at thy right hand, in thy presence is fullness of joy and at our
right hand our pleasures. Hello. Or. Pleasures I mean eternal. Pleasure eternal satisfaction
I'll be satisfied. Continue to be satisfied I mean
really fulfilled. Ever. That's something to think about
and And so, that's why he tells us, don't love the world, don't
set your heart, if riches increase, set not your heart upon it. Love not the world, let nothing
happen. Don't be consumed with anybody
or anything, because it'll break your heart if you have your heart
set on it. Love not the world, it's passing
away. All relationships, everything,
are fading, except what's in Christ. Now these relationships
right here are forever. Love your brethren. Kindle these
relationships. Nurture these relationships.
This is going to continue forever. What started right here will
continue forever. Don't love the world because
it's passing away. It's passing away. You're going
to lose everything in it. The lust thereof. This is such
an important message. I'm glad we're here. And then
it goes on. Look at verse 18. He says, little
children. Little children. I remind you who he's talking
to. God's people. God's people. They're all, well,
they're babes. You remember how we looked at
their babes? They're young men and women. Then they're fathers
or mothers. They're all God's little children, and God deals
with all of us as his little children. Aren't you glad? Aren't
you glad? Most of the time, I don't feel
like a father in the faith, like an Abraham. Do you? You've been
around a good while, Brother John. You've been under the gospel
a good while, but do you? Most of the time, you feel like
a baby, needing to be taught everything all over again. And
so God keeps saying throughout this letter little children as
a father pity of his children. And that's how the Lord deals
with little children it is the last time. It is the last time. Now since this was two thousand
years ago that this was written and to the world. They would
say well John was wrong what. John was wrong. Two thousand
years went by. Now the fact of the matter is
in light of eternity. See God purpose this whole thing
before the world began God. Eons of time. The way we measure
eons. Millennium. Word God walk. Purpose all of it and the duration
of this earth and the time of man is not seven six thousand
seven thousand years in the light of. Millions billions billions
of time. So this is the last time and
since Christ came here since Christ came to this earth two
thousand years ago. and accomplished the redemption
of his people. Christ, who was sent by the Father,
who purposed this thing before the world began, and came in
time, in the fullness of time, Christ came and accomplished
that work of redemption which God purposed way back then. And
then now it's just a couple of days left. It's the last time. It is. It's the last of time. And we clearly see what Paul
wrote in second Timothy three that these are the last day the
last of the last day the very last days preceding our Lord
imminent and certain return. It is true the last time but
we're in the last days of the last time. Obvious evidence. And he says
what he says to them he says to us it is the last time and
as you've heard that anti-christ shall come. Even now are there
many anti-christ whereby we know that it is the last time this
is how we know because the Lord is the one that said that he
said you've heard that anti-christ shall come who said that who
told us about that the Lord did in Matthew twenty four. Now you
look yourself later on but the Lord never mentioned a man a
person a one one person. And the world looking for one
person. I know what second that's going to say I've read it many
times read it again this morning but the Lord didn't talk he never
even mentioned a man a person. But and so John says you've heard
that antichrist shall come and what this means is a spirit of. Heresy and error and. False religion
and all that which has a head. Which has a head. Body always
has a head. But. He said, You've heard that Antichrist
shall come, well, even now. John said, Back then even. Many
Antichrists are already here. And that's what our Lord said
in Matthew 24. He said, Many false Christs shall
arise, and many false prophets, and shall deceive many. And if
it were possible, He said, they'd deceive the very last. But we're going to see in a minute
It's not possible. Thank God, it's not possible.
Many are deceived. Brother Joe Terrell, years ago,
he's so sharp with one line of wit and wisdom. I remember him
saying this years ago, he said, the Antichrist is leading the
search for the Antichrist. In other words, false religion
is taken up with Looking for the antichrist some fellow with
six six six in his name or something you know. Now it's not he said john
said there are many and that's how you know that we're in the
last time many antichrist and we're going to look at that in
a moment what antichrist did look at verse nineteen. They
went out from us. They were not of us or if they
had been of us they would. Know that it would have continued
with us but they went out and left that they might be made
manifest or that is revealed obvious. To us that they were
not all of us now. This certainly applies to anyone
who leaves the gospel. It certainly applies to any one
who we think or thought was a brother or sister in Christ and they
leave the gospel that apply that's not the context is. That's not
the context that for years have looked at this wrong. In context
he's talking about anti-christ. And he said they went out from
us who were not of us. That started back then. That
False brethren, he said, crept in. Remember Paul writing about
that? And our Lord said that, of your
own, well, no, Paul said it in Acts 20, he said, of your own
selves shall men arise speaking perverse things to draw away
disciples after them. So that's who he's talking about. They find their way, let me read
to you what my pastor wrote on this, OK? He says these false
professors, antichrists, they find their way into the church
and for a time keep up their masquerade, living and acting
under false pretense. But sooner or later they fall
away and depart from the fellowship of the gospel and the church
and they sometimes draw away members after themselves and
so forth, but they reveal Their believing reveals that they were
never members of the body of Christ, never truly regenerated,
and in love with Christ. I told you about that, my pastor
confronting that fellow, who, for appearances sake, he looked
good, sounded good, and all that, but he said, my pastor in prophecy
clearly said, you've missed Christ. That same man, and this is just
an example, that same man, upon leaving later on, said, My leaving is going to split
that church wide open. Oh, how big men think they are,
don't they? Oh, gracious sakes. He said he
and only him and one or two other people were true Christian he
left and one of those two were left. It's not funny I could have been
in the middle of smithereens oh well. He's gone thank God
but this is one of those. Anti Christ. They're not doing
what they do for the glory of God and for Christ's sake the
body say that they're doing it for them to be the head of the
To have the preeminence, like old diatrophies and so forth.
Our Lord said, or the scripture says that there must be heresies
among us. That they which are proved might
be made manifest. There must be. Tares must grow
among the wheat. It must be so. Our Lord said
so. And we're not to try to pull them up and root them out. It'll
be revealed. Who will do it? He takes care of his church and
nothing more clearly reveals to his people that salvation
is of the Lord. Then to see somebody fall away
like that, because they know the only reason they don't fall
away is the grace of God. It's within us. It's within us,
we're capable, we think. And in the end, if we don't fall
away, then we will give God all the glory we want. All the glory. He said in verse
20, you have an unction from the Holy One. This unction means
anointing, same word. It means overpowering influence. You have an option of God's people. Stay with me. You have an unction
from the Holy One, the Holy Spirit. You have this anointing of the
Holy Spirit, you're one of the Lord's anointed. I know everybody
likes to say that today, all these imposters. You know, there's
a way you may know. There's a way that you, God's
people, the true anointed, may know someone who's not. because
if they say they are, they're not. The minute some fellow stands
up and says, Lord's anointed me, I have the anointing, write
him off. You see it all the time, don't
you? I see it on flyers and business
cards and all that, spirit-filled, anointed preaching. No, it's
not. No, it's not. No prophet in the scriptures
ever said that, ever at one time. Every one of them were, every
one of them were anointed by God, weren't they? Jeremiah. John had the spirit from his
youth, did he say he did? Did John ever say that? Did John
ever say, you need to listen to me, I've had the spirit from
birth. Never. You say Isaiah said it in chapter
sixty one. No he didn't. He said that about
Christ. That was in Prophecy of the Christ.
Didn't it? The Spirit of the Lord has anointed
me. Our Lord when he came here read that and he said this day
is this scripture fulfilled in your ears. Isaiah wasn't writing
it out himself anymore and he wrote Isaiah fifty three about
himself. Isaiah wrote this of me, and Christ said, I am the
anointed one. What's anointed mean? The Christ. That's what that means. Christ
is the anointed one of God. But you have this anointed. How's
that? You're in Christ. Oh, this is
that precious ointment that Psalm 133 says that was anointed on
the head of Aaron and went down his beard. Is that 133? Help
me, John. That went down the beard and
down to the skirts and so forth. This is that anointing, the Holy
Spirit. I got a look at. It's on one thing, I think. Yeah, no, it's on 133. What was
one? All right, I had it right then.
OK, this anointing that Christ is anointed with the Holy Spirit,
he had him without measure. And it went down his beard, air,
and to his garments, the skirts of his garment. And of his grace,
we receive grace. And of his fullness, and so forth.
It's anointing. In Christ, this is that earnest
that God gives us of his Spirit. Proof. Well, what is this anointing? You have it. You have it. That's what he said.
You have this unction. from the Holy One and you know
all things. Everybody in here is thinking,
I don't know anything. Do you know Christ? Huh? Now out there in the world there's
some rocket scientist, nuclear physicist, who can, he thinks,
explain the mysteries of the stars and molecular structure
and this and that and the other to you, and he talks in a language
that nobody can understand and lofty language and what a brilliant,
what a wise and brilliant intellect, what an incredible fellow he
is. If he doesn't know Christ, he's
a fool. He's an ignorant fool. And down here digging the ditch
is a man with no education at all. or driving a truck or pumping
gas, who knows Christ, he knows all things. Where is the wise man policy?
When it's all over with, wisdom, all the purported wisdom of mankind
is going to be just abolished, won't it? Abolished. Only those
that know Christ will continue forever. I will you know all they look
at that with me at. You know we just have one service
I get an hour and a half. Where do I go I want you to go
to these and that's. Yeah let's go with these and
one of these is one. These in chapter one. God's people
all of God's people are anointed. They're anointed. Ephesians 1,
look at this, I halfway quoted this, verses 13 and 14. It says,
In whom ye also trusted in Christ, you trusted after you heard the
word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, in whom also,
after you believed, you were sealed with that Holy Spirit
of promise, which is the earnest of our inheritance until the
redemption. of the purchase possession, and
it's all under the praise of his glory. This is the earnest.
This is the seal of God. This anointing. All right, go
with me to John chapter 14. Now, John said that you have
this unction from the Holy One. You know all things. He said,
I'm writing unto you because you know the truth. You do. You know all things, for that
is all things you need to know. And this is what our Lord said
in John 14. This is the anointing of the
Holy Spirit, all right? John 14, verse 17. He said, The
spirit of truth whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth
him not, neither knoweth him. But you know him, for he dwelleth
with you. and shall be in you. Now. Philip right before that said
or don't leave. Thomas said don't leave. Peter
said don't leave. And our Lord said I'm never going
to leave you. I'm going to send a comforter. It'll abide with
you forever. Well, Philip said, well, no,
no, show us the Father. Show us. He said you have somebody
with you even right now. He's in you. You know him. He
dwelleth with you. Look at verse 26. He said, The
Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send
in my name, he shall teach you all things and bring all things
to your remembrance whatsoever I have said unto you. This is the anointing. This is
the Holy Spirit anointing, which Christ gives all of his people,
earnest of our inheritance, proof that we're one of his children.
What's that? Go to chapter 16 with me. Chapter 16. And you've looked at these so
many times with me. He said, you have him, you know
him, he's with you. He's going to Teach you all things. You know all things, John said.
You're going to bring all things you remember. It's what things? He's the Spirit of Truth, John
16, 13 and following. When He's come, the Spirit of
Truth, when He's come, He will guide you into all truth. He will not speak of Himself.
There's a lot going on under the name of the Spirit today,
anointing. We are anointed. How do you know? They say because we talk like
blooming idiots. That's how you know. We talk
in tongues. That's not how you know. We have the spirit. Why is that?
Because we jump and scream and holler and shout and roll on
the floor and all that. Where does it say that in the
scriptures? I see devils doing that. That's not the spirit. It doesn't say that in the scriptures
anywhere. Oh yeah, yeah, we have the Spirit, because I saw a sign
coming back from Danville the other day, a sign out in front
of one of these places, religious places. It said, Your search
for a truly Spirit-filled church has ended. Yeah, right. What that means
is they jump and shout and carry on and do all of that, you know.
That's not what this book says that God's people do when they're
filled with the Spirit, does it? No gospel being preached
there, but, well, we sure got the joy of the Holy Ghost. No,
you don't. The joy of the Holy Ghost is to rejoice in the Lord
Jesus Christ, isn't it? Where the Spirit of God is, the
gospel is proclaimed. God is worshipped in spirit.
And what? Truth. You see this stuff, and
he said, he's writing, John's writing under influence of spirit
to God's people and says, I'm not telling you this because
you don't know it, but because you do. I'm reminding you. And
people, what do you see today going on in religion? You look
up on the stage and you'll see some flamboyant character. Boy,
they're getting wilder by the day. behind this plexiglass thing. And I've reminded you before
how the pulpit was invented years ago. So that a man could stand
up and be heard by many people. Ezra is when it started, the
pulpit. That is a thing of wood. And he stood up just so everybody
out there could hear him. And from the beginning pulpits
were created pretty big. Because early church fathers
wisely say we don't want to be seen so much. That we won't be
hurt. You've seen these old old best
preached up in Liverpool England years ago and. The. The pulpit I was in was just
huge. It just dwarfed me, you know,
like this. They used to have little, like,
pigeon boxes up in the corner. Remember that? They didn't want
the preacher right in the middle. They had preeminence. Pretty
good thing. But nevertheless, they had him
up in this little box. See his head? What's a pulpit
look like in that? If you'll notice, they might
open that book, they might have a book on that thing and they
might not. And they might look at it every now and then, but
they usually don't. They're usually cavorting all
over stage with a microphone in their hand, literally far
away from that book. I'm just doing this for illustration. They're really getting away from
the book, literally. They got something to say. It's not from God. If it's from God and a spirit
anointed, it'll be from this. Line upon line, precept upon
precept. And a man sent from God, he won't want to get away
from this. He won't want to get away from it. He won't get from
behind it. This is God's word, abideth in
you. He said there in John 16, look
at it, our Lord said, he won't speak of himself, the spirit,
but whatever he shall hear, that shall he speak. He shall show
you things to come. He shall glorify me. Things to
come, what things? The spirit will reveal to you
all the mysteries of the end times and prophecy. Him who is
to come. He'll show you things to come.
What? He'll show you Him who is to come. There's more people
taken up with the second coming of Christ who don't even, are
not even concerned with the Christ is coming. Did you hear that? People all
over are interested in prophecy and all that. There's no more
wondrous and glorious and marvelous and edifying prophecy than all
the prophecies concerning the Christ. God's people, people
are in love with the Christ. They want to see Him come, not
just the end times and pie in the sky or the sweet vine pie,
you know, a carnal utopia. No, they're looking for Him.
Unto those that look for Him shall He appear in the last time. And I've told you before that
the reason the streets are gold in heaven is to show our disdain
for it. It's a comment, that's nothing.
But to them who find Their joy in the Lord Jesus Christ
as gold gave them much fine gold. It must be Him. That's who they
look for. Well, our Lord said, He went
on and said in verse 15, All things that the Father hath of
mine, therefore said I, that he shall take of mine and show
it unto you. You have the unction. You know
all things. Yes, you. Why? How? What are you talking about?
If you know Christ, if you know that salvation is all in Christ,
that this whole, if you know that God is abounded toward you
in wisdom and prudence, having made known unto us, you, the
mystery of his will, how is he going to gather together in one
all thing, in one who, even in Christ? Do you know that? Do
you have the knowledge? You have this anointing. Go back
to 1 John. And I was going to show you over
in John 17, our Lord's Prayer, where he said, I've given unto
them thy word. The world doesn't. The world
hates them. Yes, the religious world. It was a religious world
that killed Christ, that was anti-Christ. It was the religious
world in the name of Christ that killed the Christ. Are you with
me? What is Antichrist? Religion. Religion. Always has been. Always will
be. Well, now he said, who is a liar? But he that denieth that Jesus
is the Christ, he is anti-Christ, that denieth the Father and the
Son. Who is it, who is a liar, but
he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? All right? Go with
me to Matthew 7, Matthew 7. Go with me there, Matthew 7.
Now, most everyone says Jesus is the Christ, don't they? Matthew seven most everyone says
that Jesus is the Christ he is Lord Jesus is Lord. The fool down in Texas ends up
every thing he says with that. They draw near with their lips. Their heart is far from believing
that Jesus is the Christ and I'll show you what What does
that mean? Matthew 7, our Lord said in Matthew
7 verse 22, look at it, many will say to me in that day, Lord,
Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? Who are they talking
about? Jesus. In the name of Jesus. You hear that a lot, don't you?
In the name of Jesus. And in thy name have cast out devils
and in thy name done many wonderful works. Come see what we're doing. in the name of Jesus. That's how you know Him. John
says, I'm not writing unto you because you don't know these
things, but you do. I'm reminding you. And I'm reminding you. God's true church doesn't say,
come see what we're doing for Jesus. God's true church and
preacher says, come hear the Word of the Lord and hear what
He's done for us. has all the difference in the
world. Are you with me? You know this thing. You have
this unction. You have this influence, this anointing of the Holy Spirit
that teaches you. This is how you listen to various
things and persons. Pretenders and you hear it and
you might be saying some good things you think might be saying
some truth true things which you say something about here It's like a instrument out of
key Something wrong that this young man knows six strings on
a guitar about as well as anyone if one of them's out of tune
he'll fight it I don't know here sure sounds to me like somebody's
getting some glory here, but Christ That's how you hear it, don't
you? Oh, this sounds good, but I don't know. It sounds like the man's pointing
at himself. It seems to me like he's talking to himself. This is that unction that God's
people have. Everybody doesn't have it. The
wise and the prudent don't have it. are going to go to Matthew
twenty four. This is our Lord talking to his
disciples about the last days of Matthew twenty four. Look
at this now. Whosoever denies that Jesus is
Christ is a liar. Matthew twenty four. Now look
at this. I've always quoted this wrong. Many shall come in my
name saying I am Christ and deceive many. I used to look at that
as meaning that many will come, stand up and say that they are
the Christ. Are you with me? That many would
come saying, I'm the Christ, like that David Koresh, you know.
Nobody followed that fella. Just a few people did. The world
wasn't going after him. There weren't too many people
who was by him. He said that. He did. He said
he was the Christ. Our Lord said, many shall come
in my name, in Jesus' name, saying that I am the Christ, saying
Jesus is the Christ. But they don't believe He's the
Christ. Everything they say demises. What is the Christ? Who is the
Christ? What does it mean to be the Christ?
Are you with me? When he asked Peter and the boys,
he said, Who do you say that I am? He said, Thou art the Christ.
What did they mean by that? Just name something. That's what
he was to them. Our Lord said, You didn't choose
me, did you, Peter? No, sir. No, no. You chose me. Thou art
the Christ. The Christ. The Christ. The Christ means the only way
to God. The only way. I don't mean show
you the way and then you get in it and you be like Him and
you get there too. No, I mean He's the way you're
going to get there. He's the one that's going to
take you there. He's the one that's going to have to literally
take you there like a sheep on His shoulders. He's the way. He's the truth.
Just ask a question concerning God, concerning man, and it all
has its answer in Christ. They say Jesus is the answer.
They don't even know the question, Nancy, do they? They're not asking
the right question. How can God be just and justifier? Christ! How can God have anything
to do with sinners? Christ! How are we going to dwell with
a holy man who's unclean, born a woman? How can he be clean?
Christ. Ask a question. Somebody ask a question. He's the truth. How are we saved? Christ. Period. Exclamation point. What's it going to take to save
us? The blood of Jesus Christ. What's it going to take to put
away one sin, let alone all our sins? Christ. Whose righteousness is it? How
are we going to be accepted? Christ. Do they believe He's
the Christ? Do they really? Do they say it?
He's the one mediator. The one mediator. This is what Christ means. The
one mediator. William, there's one person whom
God Almighty will deal with. on behalf of human beings. One. He's got a name above every name. Now, there's fellows, imposters
like Paul wrote that are set as God in the temple of God,
thinking they're God, thinking they're putting away sin. Bless
you, my son, they say. But there's one name given among
men under heaven whereby we must be saved. He's the Christ. He's
the one mediator. It's not a woman. It's a man,
his name is Jesus the Christ. God hears one person, and he said, I know that you
always hear me, but for their sake, I said this,
so that they'll know. I said this for my disciples'
sake, Mary, Martha, I said this for their sake, that they'll
know that you always hear me, and me only, and nobody else,
and you'll hear them, but through me. So I said unto you, I said
this unto you, He's the Christ. He's the one Mediator between
God and man. Germain, the man, Christ. See what it means to be the Christ?
Christ, the righteousness of God. Folks, I don't care how
moral, how righteous, how good people appear to be, how much
they appear to be keeping the law. It doesn't matter how they dress,
how they appear, how moral, how kind they are, how whatever they
do for their neighbor and all that. If they're not looking
to Christ alone as their righteousness, they're anti-Christ. This is how serious it is. If
righteousness come by the law, Christ died in vain. He didn't
need to die. If some fella says, oh, I believed
in Jesus and he put away my sins and all that, and now I'm living
a holy life and God's looking and I've cleaned up my, and so,
Christ didn't need to die? Why did Christ die? Because it's
one thing or put away from one. That's what. Paul was blameless so far was
blameless for the long thought he was. He was the most moral
upright living according to the strictest sect of the Pharisees
he said I was a Pharisee Hebrew people didn't. What would it
take to say that you don't think about like that as you see in
the worst kind of all we're seeing of all self-righteousness. And one righteousness. This is
how holy God is. This is what God requires and
men and women. Anti-Christ thinks this is too
strict. Anti-Christ thinks this is too strict. That God's not
that holy. That God doesn't require that.
Then why did Christ come? Why did he behoove him to fulfill
all righteousness? Why did he have to go to Calvary's
tree and suffer such a horrible death? Why? Because God is infinitely,
indescribably, eternally, unchangeably holy. Do you know that, John? Yes, you do, buddy. You sure
do. The world doesn't know that. And anyone who holds up one little
finger to God Almighty of their righteousness. Isn't that too
strong? I'm trying to tell you what the
Christ means. And you know this. I'm not telling
you anything you don't already know. I'm telling you because
you know this. That's what John said. You have this function.
You see that. You know all things. And we're, we're going to see
God someday, as Job said, we're going to see God someday. Who
are we going to see? Christ. No man can see God. No man has seen or can see God
at any time. Nobody's ever going to see God,
who's a spirit, who's a consuming fire. Nobody. But we're going
to see God. I don't understand it. Philip
didn't either. Philip, he that hath seen me,
hath seen the Father. Now, there's denominations all
over, going door to door, in the name of Jesus, with Latter-day
Saints. Jesus, Church of Jesus Christ,
and Latter-day Saints are anti-Christ. He that hath not the Son, really,
hath not the Father. That's what he said. They say
what they say. In the name of Jesus, he's the
Christ. They don't believe he's any more God that manifests in
the flesh than you and I are. Jehovah's Witnesses. They're
not witnessing of Jehovah, because who is Jehovah? Who is the Lord, our righteousness? Who is the Lord? At the name
of Jesus, every knee should bow and every tongue confess that
he's what? job. That's one. That's not at the

sees Jesus a little lower than the angels who was made that
way for the suffering of death. We see much higher than that.
By the eye of faith, crowned with glory and honor, sitting
at the rock, yea, sitting on the throne of majesty as God. You know, flesh and blood
didn't reveal it. Those people are zealous, and
I'm not, you know, they're zealous. Paul said, I bear them record,
they have a zeal for God, but it's not according to knowledge.
Why? They don't know Christ. They don't know who he is. He's
hidden himself from them. Oh my, look, in closing, I wasn't,
I was just kidding when I said hour and a half. But look at
it, in closing, he said, verse 24, let that therefore abide
in you which you have heard from the beginning. You haven't heard anything new.
That'd be Stan. Stan's one of those old men of
the church that we talked about. Yes, look at him. He's gray as
his coat. He's been around here a long
time. Stan, you're not hearing one thing new that you didn't
hear from the very beginning, I hope. Not one thing different. You haven't heard anybody who's
been here at any time at all. Since Brother Jim started preaching
the gospel here, you haven't heard one thing new, have you? Not one thing. Let that abide in you. Don't
tolerate. And you won't. You won't. You
won't tolerate something new because you have that unction.
Let that abide in you, which you've heard from the beginning.
Hold fast. The beginning of your. Steadfast
to the end. No false prophet could. Get a
foothold in God's true church. No, no. They went out from us.
Didn't John say that? They went out from us. They're not going to split the
church wide open. No way. The gates of hell won't
prevail against us. Is that fellow going to do it? Let that abide in you. Look at
it. Verse 24, let that therefore abide in you which you've heard
from the beginning. Let, let. That's a father speaking
to his children as to say, to say, son, keep in mind, keep
it in mind. Now remember, remember what I've
told you. That's what he said. You remember what I've been telling
you. Keep that in mind, what you've heard from the beginning.
And if that which you've heard from the beginning shall remain
in you, you'll continue in the Son and in the Father. The same old gospel, the same
old gospel is truly in you. And in your mind and especially
in your heart, you will. You stay in the fact that you
will remain aren't you glad for that because this is the. Look
at the first twenty five this is the promise that he had promised
us now. It's all big time another big
time on the way home from them. That's a religious place down
there another big sign that said a revolution is coming. Was it talking about. promise
keepers. I'm not going. Are you. And one of those fellows will
keep his promise. They're all liars and say they
will. This is the promise I want to
hear about. Look at it again. This is the promise that he hath
promised to us. It's but one promise keeper. not new unique in the revolution. No, this is from the beginning. This is the promise that he had
promised us eternal life. You see, this life is in his
son. It's in him, it's in his hands
to give to whomever he will. Isn't that what he said? No.
And he said, I give it unto them and they shall never perish.
You need to hear that over and over again, that promise that
I give unto them eternal They're not going to have to work for
it. I give unto them eternal life, and they shall never perish.
But I feel... Listen to the promise. They shall
never perish. No man is going to pluck them
out of their father's hand. Yeah, but I feel like I'm... You're thinking about yourself
here. You're not thinking about him.
Let this abide in you now. He said. He has said. I'll never
leave. Don't forsake you. Peter forsook
him, didn't he? Peter forsook Christ, didn't
he? Didn't he? Christ didn't forsake
Peter. Peter can't fall away. I like that. Don't you? Peter
did. Peter forsook Christ and would have gone on his way fishing.
Had not Christ called him again, go tell my disciple, and Peter,
fetch him, bring him, he's mine. He said, I'll never forsake you.
I said, I would not have him, even though you forsook me. And
Peter, just as soon as our Lord left, Peter sat down to write
a letter to the church, and he said, listen, brethren, we're
kept by the power of God. through faith unto salvation,
ready to be revealed at the last time. This is the promise that
he has made unto us, a blessed promise, a God who cannot lie.
We're kept. That's the promise keeper I want
to hear about, don't you? They don't know. I don't care
what they say. I don't care how zealous they get and how well
they can gang up on God if they will, but it won't mean a thing. What will mean everything is
when Christ stands on your behalf in glory and says, I've kept
them. Not one of them is lost. Behold,
I and the children that God has given me. Here's Sherry Anderson. I died for her. You gave her
to me. I died for her. I paid for her
sins. And here she is, Father, safe
and sound forever. And Sherry's going to be singing
to the top of her lungs. Unto him that loved me and washed
me from my sin in his own blood. Unto him that kept me. Unto him
that called me. Unto him that chose me. This
is my Christ. He's my salvation. He's my all. These things I've written
unto you, he said, concerning them that seduce you. They're
trying to seduce you. People are trying to seduce you.
so-called, or trying to seduce you. Why? They want your membership. They want your money. That's it. Money answereth all
things, Solomon says. That's behind it all. They're
not interested in your soul. They want to count your head.
That's it. But the anointing here it is
the anointing which you've received of him abideth in you and you
don't need any man to teach you. Hey I've got something new. No
you know you don't know nothing. As Virgie would say. This anointing
was in Virgie. And she could say it doesn't
matter who came down the pike. She could say you don't know
nothing. Oh yeah, you need not any man
teach you. That doesn't mean you don't need
a teacher. John was teaching them then,
wasn't he? Teaching us, but it means you're not going to get
your authority and your new revelation from some man. But he, the Holy Spirit, teaches
you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it
hath taught you, you shall. Not might, not hope, you will. You shall abide in him. Now,
little children, about it. You know the world can not reconcile
God's sovereignty. Can't figure it out so they don't
believe. You know. They cannot figure out. How God. Is absolutely. And yet men and women are accountable
to God to be held accountable for their own actions. And must
believe and repent and all. They can't reconcile it. They
can't figure it out. So what do they reject? God's
cycle. But you know, you've been taught
that. The only reason we are accountable
now is because we're God's children. The natural man is not Subject
to the law, neither can they. Then. But he's talking to some. He's talking to sons and daughters,
as you would your sons and daughters who are accountable to you, who
are responsible, who you say, son, don't do that. Stop that.
Do that. Do this. Go here. Go there. Don't go there. And this is the father speaking
to his children who are responsible. This is not a condition. to me. And here's the fact of the matter
if we forsake the gospel if we miss Christ. This word is going to condemn
us on that. We're going to be absolutely.
Accountable and responsible because we said this and said that and
oh and we're going to be with you see why God's word gives
these things we're responsible that we're accountable And so
if a man or woman rejects the truth and falls away and finally
someday misses Christ and stands before him and is ashamed there
there there there it's their fault. It's one hundred percent
their fault. God said I told you. To believe
you didn't believe it. Yeah but you didn't give it.
They're not going to be able to say you didn't give me faith.
You didn't believe. Our Lord said you will not come
to me that you might have And they're going to be totally
responsible. Man is totally responsible. If we miss Christ, it's our fault.
Nobody's going to be able to blame God. But on the other hand, when we stand before his presence
someday, holy, unblameable, unreproved, kept the faith until the end,
what are we going to say? who gets credit. You know this so you know that
you know this you know man's responsible. You know people don't believe
the truth because they hate it. And you know the only reason
somebody does is because God revealed it to them. And you
know the reason you'll be kept someday is by his power. And
he'll get all the glory. You know this. You know that. Our little children abide in
him. As a father to his children, he says, you abide. Keep yourselves
under the love of God, Scripture says. That means you stay under
the gospel. Don't take yourself out from under the gospel. This
thing happens by degrees, and it really does, until finally
somebody, finally reveals, you know, they
will. They obviously were never one of us. So let that fear be
in him, abide where he is with his people, that we may have
confidence and not be ashamed before him at his coming. Thomas
must have been a real shame, wasn't he? Everyone was so rejoicing and
believing that he was. Now if you know, verse 29, if
you know that he is righteous, you know that everyone that doeth
righteousness is born of him. You know. He's right. Do it right. You believe and trust Christ
you're right that is right and you do what he said. You do what
he said. We said you're my disciples indeed
he says you do what I said. Back back to the map condition
the fact that you do. You are. You believe you're right. Like he's right. All right, let's
stand. Our father, we thank you so much
for your Holy Spirit, spirit of truth. Anointing that. We feel so. Lacking, but yet,
thank you, Father, for what we do know. what we have received. We thank you. A man, a woman,
a young person can receive nothing except it be given him or her
from above. And that which we have received,
we give you thank you. And we give you thanks for it.
That knowledge, wisdom from above, Lord, we need to know so much
more. Keep our eyes on Christ. He is the Christ. He is our Redeemer,
and we look to him and him alone. Keep us abiding right there,
and we know we shall be safe when we have this confidence
in him. Lord, keep these people by your
power, by your gospel. Keep them under the sound of
it. Let us not fall away, not one of them, by your power. It's in Christ's name that we've
met here.
