For gold to me, and thine to
us, O praise. Come, Holy Spirit, where'er we
go, with all thy faith be close. Now turn with me to the gospel
of Mark, Mark chapter 7. Mark chapter 7. Let's read two verses in Mark chapter 7. Let's read
verses 31 and 32. Mark chapter 7, verses 31 and
32. And again, departing from the
coast of Tyre and Sidon, he came unto the Sea of Galilee through
the midst of the coast of Decapolis. And they bring unto him one that
was deaf and had an impediment in his speech. And they beseech
him, begged him to put his hand upon him. Now, this is the story of the
Lord Jesus Christ. a deaf and dumb man. The story of our Lord giving
a man ears to hear who had never heard before, and a tongue to
speak who had never spoken before. Many times in the scriptures,
the Lord says, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. Fifteen times in the New Testament
alone. Fifteen times, he says that. In other words, we can have ears
and not hear. He said that, our Lord said that,
and we read it in Matthew 13. Hearing, they hear not. They hear not. And I'm very interested
in this message because there are some, even here today,
who have not heard, who are deaf. How do you know, preacher? Because
the speech gives them away. We're going to see that in a
moment. We will see that. May the Lord be pleased is my
prayer and my hope that the Lord would be pleased to give hearing
ears to one who has not heard before. Now, these two things always
go together. If someone is deaf. Someone cannot
hear. They're dumb. I know that's not
politically correct to say that today, but I'm not interested
in being politically correct. Want to be biblically correct.
Dumb doesn't mean stupid. It means can't speak. It can't speak. Helen Keller was not stupid. She was brilliant. But dumb means can't speak. So.
These two things always go together, though, when someone cannot hear
They cannot speak, or at least can't speak clearly. They have
an impediment, something that hinders them from speaking clearly. And that hindrance is the ear. They cannot hear themselves.
They cannot hear what they're saying in order to rightly form
words, to sound right. Well, it says in verse 32 that
there were some people that brought unto the Lord one that was deaf. They bring unto him one that
was deaf and had an impediment in his speech, and they, whoever
these people were, beseeched him. This word beseech means
begged him, pleaded with him, implored him, beseeched him. This wasn't just
a casual One time asking him, but just
begging and pleading a constant imploring him, please, can you
do something? Can you put your hand upon him?
They who are these people? Well, they were some friends
of this person. We don't know if it was a family
member or friends, but there were more than one that brought
him. And it says they brought. this
person to him, to the Lord Jesus Christ. Now, everybody in here,
every believer in here, every believer in here knows someone,
either a friend or a member of your family, maybe even a spouse,
maybe a child, who has not heard this gospel. Oh, they may have heard it with
these ears. They haven't heard. Or you may have those who will
not hear. Who refused to come here? Well, what's our hope? What's
their hope? Same as these people. Bring them
to Him. Bring them to him in prayer and
so forth. We'll look at that a little bit
more in a moment. But what is the truth that people need to
hear? I would be remiss. I would be. It would be a crime
for a man to stand up before a crowd of people and not preach
the truth, not preach the gospel, just preach about it. Because
it's the truth, it's the gospel that actually sets people free,
that actually It redeems and regenerates. It's the truth that
does that. It's not stories about it. That's why some people think
we belabor doctrine too much. Well, what is the message? What is the truth that men and
women must hear and young people? What is it? The truth that sets
people for it. We have the message of the prophets.
The message of the Lord himself, the message of the apostles and
the message of all pastor evangelist pastors and teachers has always
been the same. It's always been the same. It
has not changed. It has not changed. What is it?
Listen carefully, OK? Because you will not hear it
out there today. The message is this, and this
is what the prophets, our Lord, The apostles and every true evangelist. We've had one in our day, Rolf
Barnard. Here's the message. Repent for
the kingdom of heaven is at hand. It's not God loves you. Won't you accept Jesus? That's
not it. It's repent. This is what the world needs
to hear. It's what everyone needs to hear. Repent. For the kingdom
of heaven is at hand. Would you turn to Isaiah 34 with
me? Isaiah 34. And this is just one
scripture of many. One of many. I was just glancing.
I started to read chapter 35 for our scripture reading. which
says the ears of the deaf shall be opened and the tongue of the
dumb shall sing. And that made me glance over
to chapter 34, and I read this, just a couple of verses. It's so serious. It's so clear. Would you look at it with me?
Isaiah 34, verses 1 through 5. Come near ye nations. to hear,
and hearken, ye people, let the earth hear all that is there
in the world." Now, Isaiah says this is what the world needs
to hear, isn't it? That's what he's saying, that
everybody that hath the earth to hear, let him hear this. What?
God love you. Okay. Verse 2, "...the indignation
of the Lord is upon all nations, his fury upon all their Read
on. He hath utterly destroyed them.
This is not some past thing, it's his future. He hath delivered
them to the slaughter. Their slain also shall be cast
out. Their stink shall come up out
of their carcasses. The mountains shall be melted
with their blood. All the hosts of heaven shall be dissolved.
The heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll. All their hosts
shall fall down as the leaf falleth from the vine, as the falling
fig from the fig tree. And my soul shall be bathed in
heaven, that is, cleansed. Behold, it shall come down. upon
Idumea and upon the people of my curse, the judgment, the sword
of the Lord filled with blood." That's a future prophecy. And it's the same all the way
through God's Word. And the message is the same today. Repentance
toward God. That is, confession of what we
are before a holy God. Confession of being, living a
whole life without a thought toward God who has clothed us,
fed us, kept us, provided for us, live a whole life. Confession
of what we are before God who demands that we love Him, yet
we go after other things. Confession before God, repentance
toward God, not men. Against thee and thee only have
I sinned. It's he that owns us, not we ourselves. A just and offended God, an offended
God whose law every human being just sets it not. Who cares? Whose wrath, the Scripture says,
whose wrath over and over again, whose wrath abides on unbelievers. Not love, not hoping, wishing,
hoping that they will. No, no, whose wrath. He that
believeth not, John 3, 17 and 18, so he that believeth not,
is condemned already. Not under the love of God, but
under the condemnation of God. In verse 36 of John 3, the wrath
of God abides on them. That's the message to the lost,
ungodly, unbelieving world, whose anger and wrath will be poured
out. And God, the scripture says,
commanded all men everywhere to repent. Command is command,
it's not an option, it's imperative. This is the first thing. Now,
let someone say, listen. It's a crime to preach to a crowd
of people thinking everybody in there is a believer that can't
do that. Comfort God's people, yes. But
our Lord said to his disciples, his apostles. Who said, I know they said, I
know these people really need to repent, Solomon, Gamarra and
Tyre and Sidon and these people on who the tower fail, they must
have been great centers and all that. And our Lord said unto
them, except you repent. He pointed right at Peter and
James and John and said, you repent. You likewise perish. Oh, but
Lord, I had. Then you're not. Why is the scripture say his
mercies are new every morning? Because we're sinners when we
wake up against the just and holy God, this is still the message
repent, isn't that the missing note today, Brother Barry? This thing of repentance is begging
God for mercy. The old writers used to say,
sue for mercy, sue. Begging for mercy to an offended
sovereign. Now, here's the message, though,
to all who do. To all who do by God's grace,
God have mercy on me, the sinner, not a sinner, the sinner, God
be merciful to me, the prodigal God. Help me. Please have mercy
on me. Spare me. Here's the message
to them. God loves you and has accepted you in the beloved. Not asking for their acceptance.
Telling them of their acceptance. That God has sent his son, the
altogether lovely one, for the unlovely. the righteous for the
unrighteous, to be their substitute. He tells the good news, the glad
tidings to sinners, guilty sinners, of a substitute, the Lord Jesus
Christ. Sinner's righteousness. And the
sinner's substitute, sin payment, who paid for your sin by his
stripes, you're healed. And so the message is the same.
today. That's still the message today.
And I urge you to try all these fellows whom you hear by this
message. It's still the same. The message,
listen carefully, the message is still the same. Paul said
it, who hath warned thee to flee from the wrath to come? Paul
said it, knowing therefore, beloved brethren, the terror of the Lord,
we persuade men. Not the love of God, but the
terror of the Lord, we persuade men. What? Flee from the wrath
to come. Save yourself from this untoward
generation, was Peter's sermon at Pentecost. And for all who do flee, like
old Bunyan's Pilgrim. Some of you reading that right
now? Sarah? Some of you reading that? Robin?
Some of you told me you're reading Pilgrim's Progress. who was fleeing
from where? The city of destruction. Because
the evangelist told him that's called the city of destruction.
And yonder lies the celestial city. And there's one way to
go through it. Straight and narrow gate. Flee
to yonder gate. That narrow way that leads unto
life. Flee. No matter what anybody
says, no matter what everybody says. And so Pilgrim did. Ran. Had that burden on his back. And he put his fingers in his
ears as he was running, because everybody was making fun of him.
Everybody was begging him. And he was hollering, Life, life,
eternal life. Fleeing from death to life. passing from death unto
life. And for all who flee from the wrath to come, God says,
yonder lies a city of refuge, the Lord Jesus Christ. Now get
to him just as fast as you can. You better. Today. Christ may come tomorrow. You
better, young people. Old people. Did you hear that? This is not a cunningly devised
fable. This is not over a religious
wives tale. This is true. Our Lord said it
in the last book, surely I come quickly. You better plead to Christ. Did
you hear that? I can tell you how you can know
somebody hurt. I can tell you how. When you holler fire and somebody's sound asleep, they're not hearing it. Or, if you say something so serious,
so eternal, so vital, important, what if
the news came on today and said there's an imminent strike headed
toward America today? Imminent. We don't know where. Terrorists. No, really. What would we do?
We'd be glued. to the TV set and the radio.
Glued to it. Have our children beside us.
Maybe praying. There is the imminent return
of the terrible Lord Jesus. And somebody says after that,
what's for dinner? I didn't hear it. or makes no comment whatsoever. Now, those who do not come to
hear, obviously, haven't heard. Right? Those who do not come,
obviously, have not heard because it's not that important. Those
who do come, yet, never make a comment. It doesn't seem to make much
impression. Whatever really impresses you,
you'll talk about. They haven't heard it or don't
make a commitment. Those who have heard. Yet still talk in this manner,
it says this man had an impediment in his speech. Those who have
seemed to seem to have heard. And yet, still, I'm talking about
a believer, someone who seems to have heard, yet still takes
the Lord's name in vain. Flippantly, carelessly uses the
Lord's name and things like that. Either is very, very, very, very
young and ignorant and hasn't been taught yet, or they will,
they will be. I'm talking about, oh Lord, you know, stuff like
that. Or they haven't heard. They haven't
heard. Or someone who has heard and
yet still speaks of themselves. Now, this world is full of people
like that. Those who say they've heard the
truth and yet still speak like this. I accepted Jesus. I prayed. This is a speech impediment. Have you ever heard, and I'm
not making fun of somebody who cannot hear. I'm really not.
I'm just giving you a fact here. Have you ever heard someone speak
who was deaf? Try to speak. It's not audible
at all. It's very, all the sounds run
together. And this is what you'll hear
out of the mouth of people who have not heard of the true God
and the truth. I, I, me, my. It's a speaking pattern. I, except
I was baptized, I am a member of I. Speech impediment. Those who
say they have heard and yet still talk about the world, who still talk about luck and
chance and mother nature, haven't heard. Have you not heard? You remember that in the book
of Isaiah? He said, Have you not heard?
Hath it not been told you from the beginning? It is I. I'm the one that's done all this.
Have you not heard? Those who speak in such manner
have heard. A deaf, a deaf. Well, is there
hope? Is there hope for those? Is there hope? Yeah. Just like
this man, there's only one. There's only one. Only one hope. Verse 32, look at it again. It
says, They bring unto him one that was deaf and had an impediment
in his speech, and they besought him, they beseeched him to put
his hand upon him. They brought him to Christ, who
alone can give the hearing ear and the seeing eye as of the
Lord, the scripture says. They brought him to Christ, who
was the only one that could open his ears. The preacher can't do it. No
matter how hard he screams and hollers, can't do it. People
still sleep right through him. No matter how serious he may
seem. The Lord said that we've wept and you haven't mourned.
We've piped and you haven't danced and so forth. Can't be done. But the Lord can and does. Be alone. So we beseech Him. How desperate is the case? We
beseech Him. We beseech Him, who alone can
give ears to hear. Lord, please, would you speak
to her? Lord, please, would you speak
to her? Him, would you speak to Him, Lord? I can't. Bring Him, bring her to the Lord. How do you bring someone to the
Lord? You don't get them saved. You don't win their soul. That's
not what that Scripture is talking about. You bring them to Him
in prayer. You lift them up before the Lord,
the Scripture says. Lift them up before the Lord.
Hold them up before the Lord. You bring their names before
the Lord. Lord, would you please give so-and-so ears to hear?
They haven't heard this gospel. Well, they have heard it, and
they're getting hardened by it. You bring them to Christ by a
word in season, through them. You bring the Word to them. Bring
them to the Word by a word in season. This is how people, the
Word of God is His power. It's not our powers of persuasion.
It's God's Word. And God used one word in season,
one word of His, not ours. Not Calvin's. His. One word in season, we can bring
them. I keep talking about these tapes.
I could tell you story after story of how the Lord used these
tapes. I urge you, all of us, us, I
urge us to make use of these, this wonderful means down here,
to put five or six of them, not, you know what, use mine, send
off somewhere else and get some. Gospel, good gospel text. Put
five or six in your glove compartment. You feel so helpless to talk
to people about the truth. You feel like you're incapable
of expounding the truth to people. You feel at a loss for the words.
Well, here's a man preach the whole message. Give it to them. So here, listen to this. An article. An article, a word in Caesar. Bring them to Him. Parents, as long as your children are
under your roof, as long as your children are
under your roof and being provided for by you, they're eating your
bread, it is your obligation to bring them to hear this gospel.
where Christ is, to bring them to Christ in that sense. It is
your obligation. And let not thy soul spare for
their complaining. And it's the least that they
can do. It's the least that they can
do for all you do for them. You say, now this is all I want
out of you, other than cleaning your room. and so forth. Cutting a grant. But this is
all really that I want for you and want out of you. And you
know, really, isn't this all that the Heavenly Father requires
of his children? Just worship me. Just give me
thanks. It's all I want out of you. I
want you to come and be with me under the sound of the Word,
which is our reasonable servant, and worship our God together
for all that he's done for us. And I want more than anything
else for you to know him, whom to know is to have eternal life.
Son, daughter, I know you don't understand. I know you might
not have a desire for this and you think I'm being cruel. I'm
telling you, I'm being, I'm being, this is the best thing that I
could possibly do for you. More than give you a four wheeler,
more than give you this and that and the other. This is, this
is, this is life. Bring them to him. Bring him
under the sound of the word and not going to hear it. Otherwise,
bring him under the sound of Christ. Lord, he can't hear. He's standing over there. Seriously, this man is standing
there. He doesn't know what's going
on. He might not even know who this
is. This is a real story, and it's
still true today. It's still true right now. Right now. Bring them to Him. Beseech Him. Parents, beseech Him. Why can't
the Lord save your whole house? Huh? He's done it many times. Huh? Why can't the Lord save
that hardened, hard-headed spouse of yours? Huh? Well, he's too
hard. Is anything too hard for the
Lord, he said? Well, my words are hammer. Breaks a hard heart to pieces. Lord, help. Would you please
help? You're the only one that can. Well, look at this. They brought him to Him. In verse
33, it says, He took him. He took him. Every word is significant, O
people. Every word is glory here. I wish we had the capacity to
see it. There's a billion more just like
him out there. What's he need with him? He doesn't.
But he took him. Lord, have mercy on my son or
my daughter. Not only a worthless creature,
but they've been a worthless son and daughter. Would you take
him? Would you take such a worm as
this? He took him. That's all ones He does take. Now, here's my son. Now, he can
really add to you. He's a good boy. I mean, he's
a good boy, but he just can't hear. He won't hear a thing I say.
He won't hear anything anybody says. He won't speak thanks. He never gives a comment about... He's just a taker, a taker, a
taker, a taker, never a giver. Lord, do something for him, would
you please? He took him. He took him. He took me, just like his boy. He took me. And it says he took him. That's
not a play on words. Cut off. He took him. Christ
took him. It didn't say the man took Christ,
did it? It didn't say the man, I'll take
you as my person. Shoot on that. Phooey on that. I wish I could. No, Christ took him. That mercy
on him. And look what it says. It says
he took him aside from the multitude. Are you reading it with me? If you don't read it, you won't
get anything out of it. The hearing ear and the seeing
eye go together. He took him aside from the multitude. This is vital, people. This is
important. God deals with individuals. God
deals with individuals. God deals personally, one-on-one. Look all the way through the
Scriptures. You'll see that. I know there were instances where many
were saved at one time, but count on it. The Lord spoke to each
one of those persons personally. in their heart, to them. At Pentecost,
there were 3,000 people, men, more than that, women and children. And I guarantee you, every person
in there thought they were the only one in there. Every person
in there thought, he's talking about me. All these people think
he's talking about me. They all felt exposed. Individuals felt guilty. The Lord deals with individuals
personally. That's the reason that story
I told you about Barnard, telling that rebellious young lady to
go home and get in her closet. Anybody in here, if you don't
ask the Lord, if you don't beg the Lord, beseech the Lord yourself,
to have mercy on you, to show you pride, He probably won't. But he told that young girl,
go home and get in your closet and ask the Lord to show you
yourself. That's the first thing you need
to say. Show you yourself. Because only guilty people will
seek for mercy. Only needy sinners will ask for
grace. Only hungry and thirsty will
hunger and thirst after righteousness. Go ask the Lord personally, individually,
to show you yourself. He took him aside from the multitude. See that? He took him aside from
the multitude. And you know how different? This
is the healer. This is the true healer of souls.
This one truly healed deaf people. This man had never heard before.
There's a story of a man who was lame over in Matthew's gospel
and Luke's gospel, I believe it was. where it made it very
plain that he could not walk. It said this man was lame, crippled from the womb. He never
had walked. It made it very clear he could
not walk. This man could not hear. Unlike
these bogus miracles you see on TV. No sir, this man could
not hear, had never, he was born this way. The blind, our Lord
healed, were born blind. Everybody knew it. Not just cataract,
born blind. Lame were shriveled up. And it
was clear, they're shriveled up. This is the healer. This is the one. And it said, now listen, why
did I say that? Because it says he took him aside from the multitude. Listen to me. He took him aside
from this, all this crowd. Why? He's not out for fame and
recognition, like these bogus idiots today. Doing all this
in front of the crowd. No sir! He took him aside, separately,
from the crowd, away from the crowd. That's not why he's doing
this. That's his glory. Doesn't mean glory of men. No,
that's his glory. That's significant. It took him
away from the crowd to do this. And another thing, you know,
we're going to have to get away from this mass called religion
today. We're going to have to get out
of it. He's going to have to bring us outside the camp, Hebrews
13 says, outside the camp, outside of all this confusion and noise,
two monks and so forth, all these voices, people saying this and
that and the other. There's one voice that he needs
to hear. One voice will wake the dead. One voice. Christ. Well, he took him aside from
the multitude. And look at this, verse 33, put
his fingers into his ears. Well, he's not going to hear
that way. You don't get a man to hear by putting your fingers
in his ears. Yes, you do. That's precisely how God Almighty
gives hearing to everybody. When God Almighty sends his word
in power, What it does is shut your mouth and shut your
ears to everything and everyone you've ever heard and are hearing. Because he said, my sheep are
going to hear my voice. This man had never heard anything
before. When he hears now, it's going to be one voice, one thing. And from here on, he's going
to know who it was that gave him hearing, who gets to be And
our Lord, every person whom our Lord gives spiritual hearing
to, he's going to have to shut out everything and everyone else.
There's so many voices out there, aren't there? Huh? So many voices. It's a noise. It's tumult. It's
confusion. It's chaos. Religion is in chaos,
isn't it? This man saying this, this woman
saying that, this saying this, saying that, look over here,
look over there, telling some new thing, doing some new thing.
What do I do? Here's what you do. Here's what
the Lord must do. Look over chapter eight with
me. Chapter eight. Here's the story of a blind man,
a blind man whom the Lord healed. And you know he did the exact
same thing to this man? Look at it. It came to Bethesda,
verse 22, they brought a blind man unto him and besought him
to touch him. The Lord is blind. Would you
do something for him? We just can't make him see. And
he took the blind man by the hand and led him out of Let's
get out of here. It's just you and me. You and
me. And he spit on his eyes. Now,
let's go back to our text, Mark 7. Go back to verse 33. He took
him aside, took him aside from the multitude and put his fingers
into his ears, and he spit. But that is, the Lord produced
saliva in his own mouth. And opened that man's mouth. Touched his tongue. Now, what is this? What's this
all about? First thing he did. Well, the Lord God, the Word
made flesh, took from his mouth and put it in the mouth of that man. What came from the
mouth of the Lord opened his ears. Would you venture to guess what
that is? This is the only thing. The only thing. God's words. The only thing that will open
deaf ears. The only thing. Lose the tongue. The only thing.
Only that which comes from the mouth of Christ Himself. He said,
My sheep will hear My voice. There's a story of a couple that
went years ago, back when Spurgeon
was preaching. They went to hear, went to hear him. Let me see
if I can get it straight. They went to hear him and came
away a little disappointed. And they told somebody later
that they went to hear Spurgeon preach and didn't get much out
of it. That person said, well, you got
what you went for. He hurts Virgin. And you will be disappointed
every time. If Christ said, my sheep, hear
my voice. My voice. Lord, I want to hear
from You. Well, God's words, the only thing
that will open the deaf ear and look at verse thirty four says
he looked up to heaven and he sighed. The Lord looked up to
heaven. This is our Lord, this is the
man, the God man who lived by faith. Did he have to pray? Did he have to beg the Lord to
do something? He did. He did. Oh, how much more me, huh? How much more us? We have not
because we ask not. He looked godly, looked heavenward.
It says he sighed. It was said of the Lord in the
Psalms, it says, my life is spent with grief and my years with
sighing. They don't hear, do they? No. And yet the Lord says, also in
the Word, for the sighing of the needy will I rise. The sighing
of the needy will I rise. Would to God we would sigh for
ourselves and others. People, if there's somebody you
need to hear the gospel, I mean, you really need them to They
may be sitting hearing it right now, but they haven't heard it. Maybe you haven't. Beseech the Lord. Beseech Him. Beseech Him. Beseech the Lord
Jesus Christ, because the Father always hears Him. Always hears
Him. The Lord says, He didn't say anything to the
Father. You've heard this. Better to
have words without heart than heart without words. Empathize. Be open. I wonder if the Lord
would say that to somebody. Epithet. I can't do that. The Lord can. He does. Epithet. And it says, look at it, straight
away. Well, I think he's hearing something. I think he's hearing something.
He's not here today. He's not. He doesn't seem. You
don't see him. But I think I think the Lord's
dealing. He heard that, buddy. He heard
that. Straight away his ears were open.
Somebody say something! He spoke. He says his tongue was loose. His tongue was loose. What did
he say? He doesn't say what he says, really. It doesn't say
his tongue was loosed, he spake plain. What did he say? I know
what he said. I know what he said. It's the same thing everybody
says when they have their tongue loosed, when they have their
ears open. Every single one of God's people who are deaf and
dumb, when he finally opens their ears to hear his voice, hear
of his glory, when he finally loosens their tongue, which has
this impediment called me, and so forth. They all say it. Salvations of the Lord. He healed
me. He's the one. Him, him, him. Not I, I, I. Him. Who gave you
your hearing? He did. The Lord hath revealed
himself to me. The Lord hath made himself known
to me. The Lord spoke to me. The Lord saved me. The Lord hath
mercy on me. The Lord hath grace to me. The Lord was my substitute.
The Lord is my right step. The Lord, the Lord, the Lord,
the Lord. Worthy is he. Worthy is he. Now his tongue
is loose. What have you got to say for
yourself? Unworthy, guilty, vile. What have you got to say about
your salvation? He did it. He did it. He did it. That's
how you know. What do you say? He did it! It's the only thing his tongue's good
for. You know, that's why God made this tongue. And the world's
wagging them for their own glory. God made this tongue for His
glory. And when He finally loosens it, thy loosened tongues employ,
the psalm says. To do what? Employ, employment,
vocation. What is it? Worthy is a man. Thanks be unto God. This is the
Lord's doing. It's marvelous in our eyes. Salvation
belongeth unto the Lord. It's of His mercies that we're
not concerned. By the grace of God, I am what I am. Not by works
of righteous we have done, but according to Thy mercy that I
saved Him. Me, hath He quickened who was
dead and trespassed in sin? Me, who walked according to the
course of this world, who was blind, with children of wrath,
even as others, but you! This is a lucent time. This is
a lucent time. These are years that... Lucent is time. He spake plain.
What you're saying is, men, Let me get this straight. Let me get this straight, Mr.
Deaf Man. What you're saying is, God chose
you. That's right! Read my lips, buddy. That's right. Therefore, this
is our only hope. We use great plainness of speech. It's of the Lord's mercies we're
not concerned. Except he had given me repentance,
I would have likewise perished. Unclean, unclean. My righteousness. Yes, sir. That's what I'm saying.
Very plainly. Very plainly. Well, he charged
them, verses 36 and 7, he charged them that they should tell no
man. See, our Lord doesn't need man's glory. He didn't come for
man's glory. And that's how you know a man
sent from God still. He didn't do it to be seen of
men. He did it for the salvation of that man. For the glory of
God and the salvation of that one death man. Hi, buddy. He doesn't need that
crowd. That one fella from all eternity.
That one man from all eternity is going to be singing at the
top of his lungs. He'd never sung before. If a
preacher had this one man in his congregation, he wouldn't
need a song leader. He wouldn't need anybody. This
fellow is going to be singing. Let's turn and sing, oh, for
a thousand times. Yes! Yes! Yes! Ah! I've only got one, but he's going
to be singing. Isn't that right? Wouldn't you?
Didn't you? Do you? But they published it abroad.
This is wonderful. The Lord tells His people in
the Scripture there, He says, don't make it known. I don't
want... He's trying them is what He's doing. And the more He told
them not to, the more they published it. Let's sing that song, number
46. Oh, for a thousand tongues to sing. Number 46. Sherry, if you'll
come up. Number 46. Oh, may the Lord open deaf ears
and loosen the dumb tongue of somebody. It is my prayer. Let's
stand as we sing number 46. Oh, for a thousand tongues to
sing my great Redeemer's praise, the glories of my God and King,
the triumphs of His praise. My gracious Master and my God
assist me to proclaim to spread through all the earth abroad
the honors of thy name." Fifth verse, "'Hear Him, ye deaf, and
praise ye dumb, your loosened tongues implore. Keep blind, behold, your Savior
come, and we lay for joy.'" Glory to God and praise and love we
ever, ever give. God take thee home and make the
world a better place than here. Thank you.
About Paul Mahan
Paul Mahan has been pastor of Central Baptist Church in Rocky Mount, Virginia since 1989; preaching the Gospel of God's Sovereign Grace.
Pristine Grace functions as a digital library of preaching and teaching from many different men and ministries. I maintain a broad collection for research, study, and listening, and the presence of any preacher or message here should not be taken as a blanket endorsement of every doctrinal position expressed.
I publish my own convictions openly and without hesitation throughout this site and in my own preaching and writing. This archive is not a denominational clearinghouse. My aim in maintaining it is to preserve historic and contemporary preaching, encourage careful study, and above all direct readers and listeners to the person and work of Christ.
