of Exodus, where we've been studying
for several weeks now, the Book of Exodus. And I urge everyone to get in on these
studies. We are studying the Book of Exodus
in the Bible study, beginning at 930 Sunday mornings, and also
Wednesday nights. Those who have been in on it
I have been greatly blessed. I know I have. The book of Exodus
is all about the deliverance or salvation of God's people.
It is a perfect picture, a beautiful picture of us, God's people,
believers, and that great salvation through a deliverer like Moses. is not just a bunch of spiritual
cheerleading, trying to pump people up. So much that goes on today is
trying to tell people what all they can have and what victories
they can have over this and that and the other. It's a social
gospel. preaching of God's Word and God's
Gospel, the preaching which God uses and blesses always, is the
declaration of who God is. It's declaring His glory. The world can't understand, those
who have never seen God's glory, can't understand how God uses this to save and to build
up, but he does. This is, everyone in here who,
when you first heard the truth, this is what absolutely just
arrested you, just like a hammer between the eyes. That's what
God calls his word. My, it's not my word, it's a
hammer. And it's this declaration of who God is. The Sovereign
God. It's my favorite subject. It's
everybody's favorite subject that knows and loves God. It's
the subject of eternity. It's the subject of the saints
in glory. It's what all glory, all heaven
is going to be about. Everybody singing praises to
the Sovereign God. That's what preaching is. Declaring
who God is. His power. His glory. And its
preaching is reminding God's people, believers, of the blessed
promises. Salvation promised through a
delivery. And that's what this book is
about. And it's repeating this over and over again. We repeat
it over and over again. So it doesn't bother me to keep
saying that same thing over and over. I get great pleasure out
of it. And for you, it's safe. You don't want to hear something
new. You don't want to be a part of all this new stuff. You want
the old path, where it is the good way. You'll find rest for
your souls. You're only going to find rest
for a troubled soul, a sin-sick, sorrowful, downcast soul is in
your God who reigns and ordered all things and sure through the
Redeemer and Deliverer. It's the same thing. You come
once, you're going to hear it a thousand times. God said here
in Exodus 3 verse 16, the last part of verse 16, He says, I
have surely visited you and seen that which is done to you. Do
you remember our message a week or so ago? God said, I have heard,
I have seen. And Jehovah Jireh will see to
it. Not that God is a bystander watching what's going on in people's
lives. He's ordering it. Directing it.
Purposing. He purposed it all. He said it
all. That's who God is. And he sees,
yet he doesn't act immediately like we think he should, because
no wonder God wrote all his works from the beginning. And everything
is working together to fulfill his purpose. He sees, he sees, he knows, and
he visited us. That's how we know God came here. Verse 17, he says, I have said,
you remember how we brought out the Our comfort is in being reminded
these things. We're such frail, finite, fickle
creatures. We forget so easily. Like little children. Why do
you tell your children something over and over and over again?
If you don't get it, you're going to keep telling them until they
get it. Right? Like somebody said to the mother,
you told that child that five times. Why did you tell it five
times? She said, because he didn't get it after four. And so we keep reminding, and
that's all of God's Word. All we do is just keep reminding
us of who He is, who He is, and who Christ is and what He's done.
I have said, God's reminding His people, I have said, this
is what I've said. I've said it from the beginning.
I keep saying it over and over again, for your comfort. for your assurance, for your
help, for your strength, for your peace, for your rest, I
have said, I will bring you up out." Oh, but I'm so down. David said, why art thou downcast
within me, O my soul? Hold thou in God. He has said,
God who cannot lie. I will. When, Lord? When I decide. That's when. When
I decide. God doesn't decide things. God
purposed things before the world began. God doesn't make decisions. We do. We make decisions based on things
that happen, conditioned on, no, no, no, no. Known unto God
are all His works from the beginning. He's already purposed all things
and ordered all things. He doesn't make, oh, I've got
to make a decision. No. My dad corrected me on that,
me and Todd and Ibert both. Todd and Ibert and I. And me.
I'm not going to make it. Have to correct the English. Anyway, my dad corrected us both
one time for using the word decision. God decided. No, no, no, no.
God doesn't decide. God purposed. That's the difference
between our God, the true God, and the God who's not God. The
God who's not God has to make decisions. Things pop up. See? I have said, I will bring you
up out of Egypt. Christ said to his disciples,
he's about to leave the earth, he said, I go to prepare a place
for you. In my Father's house are many
mansions. If it were not so, I would have told you. But I
go to prepare a place for you. If I go, I'll come again to receive
you unto myself. That's what He said. I will.
I will. I like that. I like having a
God who's willed and purposed all things, aren't you? Don't
you? And so God's Word just keeps
reminding us. I have said. I have said. I have
said. This is what I have said. Oh,
Abraham. Take the story of Abraham. And
I may not get through my notes this morning. That's fine. Old
Brother Barnard used to say, I've got some notes with me.
I hope I don't have to use them. I have said, I have said, God's
Word just keeps reminding us over and over and over again
of what He's already purposed for us. And that's our peak. We sing the song, How Firm A
Foundation. Firm as footing, a solid, rock-solid
place to stand so you won't just fall. How firm a foundation,
ye saints of the Lord, is laid for your faith. Where? In His
excellent Word. What more can He say to you than
He said? Who wrote that? I forget who
wrote that. How many times have we sung that and you don't know?
It doesn't matter, does it? Who wrote it? I have said. What more can he
say? This is why God doesn't speak
out loud today. People want God to speak out
loud. What more can he say? He's already said. What more can he say than to
you he hath said? I have said, I will. And he will. When? Shortly. The moment, the twinkle of an
eye. And we're going to forget this whole mess. We're just going
to forget. It's going to be like it never
happened. Like waking up from a bad dream. Oh yeah, I have sinned. I have
sinned. You think of eternity in the
light of God. It's like, my, my. Well, bless God we have
his word, his voice, and we've heard. Verse 18 says, And they
shall hearken to thy voice. Remember, he is speaking to Moses
here. Moses is the deliverer. Moses
is the mediator. Moses is the go-between. Moses
is the picture of Christ. He is speaking to him to tell
him. God told Moses, you call the elders, the leaders, who
in turn will speak to the people and tell them everything I told
you to tell them. Isn't that a beautiful picture
of the Lord Jesus Christ? God, His mediator, one mediator,
His intercessor, His go-between, His daemon. It's a biblical word. And how God chose His disciples,
the apostles. First, He chose the prophets,
didn't He? Holy men of God, chosen by God. Moses is one of them. And He chose His apostles, elders,
teachers. preachers to go and turn to the
people and tell them what God had said. And bless God, God
said, they're going to hearken to you. They're going to hear
you. They're going to believe that you're from God. They'll
know just a man. They're going to believe that
God sent you. They're going to know, how, Lord?
By my Spirit. They're going to know. I've proved
myself to them. Not to the Egyptians. They're
not going to know this. They're not going to believe this, but
my people will. They're going to hearken. They'll
hear my voice. They'll hearken. Look at verse 18. And thou shalt
come. Thou shalt. You see, the God of the Bible is not a
want to, a wish, a hope to. God says, I will. You shall. They shall. They shall. I will. You shall. They shall. This is
the God of the Bible. I will, and you shall. They shall. They shall hearken to thy voice. If God hadn't willed it, I wouldn't
have heard the truth. I sure wouldn't have believed
it. They shall hearken. They shall hearken to thy voice.
Christ, when He came... Now, Ron, picture this story. Here's this Jewish rabbi. walking along the ocean. And
here's Peter and James, Simon and Andrew and James and John
and these Phillip and all these hardened fishermen. You know
what hardened fishermen are. You'd want them. Setting their ways, old fellas,
all they've done all their lives, they're sitting in their boats
with their fathers, Zebedee, Fishing along, here comes a preacher,
a teacher, a Jewish rabbi walking along the ocean. Simon, follow
me. Andrew, come on. That's all he
said. Philip, follow me. Here's a man steeped in his riches,
a miserly tax collector. All his life, he's a money changer. investment broker. He's big into
money. That's his life. Matthew, Matthias,
sitting there making money, making just money, hand over fist. The
Lord comes by, Matthias, follow me. That's all he said. But they leave everything, boats,
father, money, to follow him. They shall hearken to thy voice. They'll hearken. As we said last
week, in the voice of the king is there's power, authority.
The elders of Israel, verse 18, the elders of Israel, thou shalt
come, and the elders of Israel, unto the king of Egypt. You're
going to come unto the king of Egypt. Now, this is important. The first one that Moses is sent
to is Pharaoh. First of all, he goes to Pharaoh
and says, I'm sent by God to deliver my people. And what a
picture this is of the Lord Jesus Christ. When he turned 30 years
old, when the Lord Jesus Christ turned the age of Jewish manhood,
30 years old, the first thing he did was approach Satan. It was Satan before who he stood. to be tempted by him, tried by
Satan. Why? For our deliverance. That's the one we're held captive
by. Oh yeah, yeah, this is not just a story, it's not a Jewish
story here, history. This is the story of salvation.
You see, the scripture says that we're held captive by the God
of this world, the King, Prince of the power of the air, at his
will. We're held captive by him. God
sent our deliverer, that prophet, the Lord Jesus Christ, down to
this earth to deliver us from this captivity to this captor
of ours. And the first one he approaches,
Brother John, is our captor. And what does he say? Does he
ask him anything? Does he beg with him? Does he
plead with him? Moses didn't, did he? I love this. The scripture says Moses was
meek. more meek than any man on the face of the earth. That's
not weakness. Meekness is not weakness. Moses
stood before the most powerful man on earth and said, Let my
people go. Thus saith the Lord. Let my people
go. The Lord Jesus Christ, as our
Deliverer, was first tempted in all points, like as we are,
by Satan himself. He had already lived thirty years. He already lived thirty years
establishing righteousness quietly, obediently, as a man, as a child
for children, as a teenager for teens, as a young man for young men
that he overcame for young men, as a man He already lived thirty
years, and then finally, in this thirtieth year, he stood before
our captor, Satan, to deliver his people. Isn't that wonderful? That's
what this story is all about. That's what it's all about. We're held captive, so Christ
had to approach him. Now, as I said, Moses does not
ask Pharaoh anything. He does not ask Pharaoh anything.
He's sent by the God who is God. The God who doesn't ask anybody
anything. The God who makes demands of
people. The God, the King of kings, who commands kings. See,
the king's heart is in the hands of the Lord, the Scripture says.
Like the rivers of water, he turns it whithersoever he will. God doesn't ask people anything.
Neither do his preachers. Anybody called a preacher sent
by God and asks and begs human beings, subjects, peons, The
peasant to do something for the king is not sent by God. That's
a fact. Moses doesn't ask. He demands
the release of God's people. On the authority of who? God
Himself. Look at it. Verse 18, They shall
hearken, and you shall say unto him, The Lord God of the Hebrews. Here it is again. Here it is
again, Henry. Are you with me, those of you
who've been studying this with me? God keeps saying, I'm the
God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, sum all those up, Hebrews, Jews. Tell Him the God of the Jews,
the God of the Hebrews. The Lord God of the Hebrews hath met with us. He has met with us. He revealed
Himself to us. Who He is and how to worship
Him, and who His prophet is, who His deliverer is. God has met with us. God with
us, Immanuel. And now, let us go, verse 18,
let us go, we beseech thee. The word beseech is not, people,
it's not begging. The word beseech here is implore,
insist, as something imperative. Let us go. This is imperative. This is imperative. This is absolutely
necessary. It's not begging, beseeching.
When Paul said that in 2 Corinthians 5, as though God did beseech
you by us. Now, God doesn't beg you. But He insists. It's like insisting. Oh, insist. You let us go. We insist. Why should I? You just wait and see if you
don't. You will. But if you don't, you'll know why. Now, these words,
listen to them. These words are to a man named
Pharaoh, who's ignorant of the true God. His enmity against
God, he hates the God of the Hebrews, doesn't even know him,
doesn't believe him. He hates the Hebrews, he hates
God's people. And what a picture that is of every unbeliever.
But the word of God comes to this fellow, even comes to this
man, that the word of God comes to this unbelieving God-hater,
that insisting upon something. Now, this is important. Many are called. Every human being is accountable
to this book. Every human being has heard from
God's Word. Oh, yes, sir. Paul said that
a long time ago. Have they not all heard? Yea,
barely. The sound has gone to the ends
of the earth, he said. Now, that was two thousand years
ago. How much more in this day of mass communication. Everybody's heard. Have they not all heard? Many
are called, right? Now, this call of God is not
an invitation or a begging. It's a command. Believe. God commandeth all men everywhere
to repent, Many are called, but what's the
rest of that verse? Many are called, but you are chosen. You are chosen. Pharaoh heard
this word. Pharaoh heard this word. But
he's not going to believe it. Look at verse 19. It says, I'm
sure that the king of Egypt will not let thee go. God said this. Well, verse 18, I skipped over
this. He says, We beseech thee that
we may go three days' journey into the wilderness that sacrifice
to the Lord our God. John, what do you reckon that's
talking about? God's people delivered to go three days to sacrifice?
That's Christ crucified, folks. The Lord Jesus Christ, who was
three days and three nights in the belly of the earth, to make
that sacrifice for us outside the camp in the wilderness. That's
what that's talking about. And that's where we go. All of
God's people go there with Him, to Calvary, to worship God by
the sacrifice. Right? Once we're let go from
our captor, that's where we go, straight to the cross. That's
a good little message But if the Lord says, I am sure that
the king of Egypt will not let you go, I'm sure that he will
not. Why? Is Pharaoh too hard? Pharaoh's too
hard. He just, the Lord can't do anything
with this fellow. He's too hard-hearted. Is that
it? He just won't, no matter how
hard God tries, he just won't believe. Turn to Romans 9 with
me. Romans chapter 9. Alright? Romans chapter 9. God just can't convince Pharaoh?
No. Is anything too hard for the
Lord? Why is God sure? God said, I
am sure he will not let you go. I am sure he won't because Pharaoh
is not one of God's chosen. When the scripture says things
like this, when Christ went into a town and says he could do no
works, great mighty work there because of their unbelief. What
does that mean? That they just wouldn't believe
him no matter what he did. No, it means that they weren't His
chosen. They weren't given the gift of faith. Look at Romans 9 with me. Romans
chapter 9, verses 15 through 17. He saith to Moses, I will
have mercy on whom I will have mercy. I will have compassion
on whom I will have compassion. Now, do you remember where Moses
came from, folks? Where did he come from? The throne
of Pharaoh. Forty years old. Forty years
old. Now, a forty-year-old man is
pretty much set in his ways, isn't he? Isn't he, Kelly? Kelly's
over forty. That's where Moses came from.
And God said, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and
I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion. So then,
it is not of him that willeth. Not of him that runneth, or worketh,
or doeth. What is it then? What is salvation?
Where does it come from? Salvation is of God that showeth
mercy. How did God convince Moses? He is one of his chosen. Look
at the next verse. For the scripture saith unto
Pharaoh, For this same purpose have I raised thee up, that I
might show my power in thee, and that my name might be declared
throughout all the earth." God raised up Pharaoh to do one thing,
to dump his carcass in the river. That's right. That's too hard. Pharaoh was hard. Pharaoh got
what he deserved. But he did what God determined
for to be done. That's what makes God, God. God
is not dependent upon a creature. Everything works God's will.
Judas. Scripture says Judas was a son
of perdition from the beginning, right? What does that mean? It
means that Christ chose him to betray him. Now, Judas did exactly
what Judas wanted to do. Judas did exactly what his evil
heart wanted to do and willed to do, right? But he did what
God determined for him to do. If Judas gets the blame for his
evil, that God purposed it. You say,
I don't understand it. Sure you don't. That's God. That's
God. And these idiots today, you know,
are trying to make out Judas as if he was just some poor fellow,
hapless fellow who just, bad circumstance. That's not what
the Scripture says. Pharaoh, was Pharaoh too hard
for the Lord to convince? No, the Lord raised him up for
this reason. He said, I'm sure he won't let
you go. Why are you sure? Because that's what I've purposed.
Because I've got to show my power. I'm going to display myself mightily,
my power. To who? To who? My people. Now listen carefully,
listen very carefully. We're going to go through in
this book, we're going to go through the various plagues in
Egypt and so forth. Now this took place over a long
period of time, these plagues. God told from the beginning,
told his people, I'm going to smite. Look at the next verse
in Exodus 3 verse 20. I will stretch out my hand and
smite Egypt with all my wonders. Smite them. He's a God of judgment. Smite
them. But you know, in the course of
all those years and all those plagues, the Egyptians didn't
Never did say it's God. They never did repent. It's God. We're getting this because we don't know God. We don't worship
God. We're idolaters. We're getting all these things
happening to us because we're idolaters and God's angry with
us. Never once did they say that, ever, in the course of years
that these plagues went on. And we look at them, don't we?
It's so plain, don't we? We look at it and say, can't
they see? Can't they see that? No, they
can't see it. They're blinded. The Israelites did. God made
this known long before, didn't He? He revealed it to His people. This is the judgment of God.
What could be clearer? Huh? Robert, all, since this
world has been in existence, God has sent plague after plague
after plague after judgment after judgment. Some poor preacher
somewhere's and had the nerve to stand up and say that AIDS
was the judgment of God against a perverse homosexual lifestyle. Oh, man. They just grilled him. They just
roasted him all over. Everybody, nearly without exception,
just blasted him to no end. Egypt doesn't believe that. Of course, Egypt doesn't believe.
God's people do. They know it's so. They know
it's so. For this purpose, have I raised
thee up? I've got to show you this, OK?
If you've never seen it, Proverbs 16. If there's someone in here
who's never seen this, and perhaps someone who never read what we
read in Isaiah 45, at verse 7, where the Lord says, Good, peace,
I create evil, I the Lord do all these things. Look at Proverbs
16, an even more shocking verse. Are you looking at it? Proverbs
16. This might change, if God wills it, it will change your
theology. Proverbs 16, verse 4. The Lord hath made all things
for himself. Yea? even the wicked for the
day of evil. That's what it says. Yeah, but
what? God raised up the devil to fulfill
his purpose. Oh, preach your message. Now, this is so strange. to the
ears of modern man. Like Paul, when he stood up on
Mars Hill that day and preached the God of the Bible, and all
those Athenians, all those modern people said, this is strange. What's this strange God you're
preaching? Well, we thought God loves everybody. God doesn't want anything. All
this evil is somebody else doing it, and God doesn't have any
control over it. He wants to and can't. And man's
a little God himself. Did you read with me there in
Isaiah 45 how many times God said, I'm God, there's none else?
Did you read that with me? Over and over. Why does God keep
saying that? Who's He saying it to? Who's He saying it to? He sent it to Israel. Those are
the words of God through the true prophet of God to the children
of Israel. He keeps saying over and over
again, I am God, capital G. There is none else. I am the
Lord. There is none else. Did you read how many times he
said that? Dan, did you read that? How many times he said
that? Why does he keep saying that? Because most people think that
man is a little God. Man has a free will. Man does
as he pleases. Satan is a God. He's doing what
he pleases. You see, the only one who's God
is the one who does as he pleases. The one who's God is the one
who does as he will, with whom he will, because he will, who's
in control. God means absolute ruler and controller over all
things. That's what the name capital G-O-D means. Absolute
ruler and controller. You either have one or you don't.
You can't have three. These three are one. But Satan's
not a little god. He's doing exactly what the God
of the Bible purposes or permits or however you want to say it.
He's not doing one thing of his own will. And what I'm saying here, this
right here, it gives The Son of Adam, creatures like us that
are so helpless, this gives us all our hope, all our comfort,
all our peace, all our assurance. My God reigneth. Tell them, My
God reigneth. Thy God reigneth. Their God? Nah. He does what They're going
to make it, they're God, they're going to make it if they let
him be God, or if they try hard enough, or if they cooperate,
they're going to make it. Man, I don't want a God like
that. What good does a God like that do me? I'm helpless. I need somebody that's going
to take me there. Huh? All the way. Look at our text. It says, He's
not going to let you go, no, not but by a mighty hand, verse
19. The word, if you look to the
center reference, says, no, not but by a mighty hand. The only
way he's going to let you go is by a mighty hand. Whose hand? Well, preachers today are telling
you God has no hands but your hands. Some of the most common statements
that have made it that. Did you read with me in Isaiah
45 where he says, let me read it again to you. God says, he's
not going to let you go. No, but not, but by a mighty
hand. He's going to let you go. All
right. My, my, my hand. He said, I have made the earth,
I have created my man upon it, even my hands. He keeps saying
this over and over. He that hath spanned the heavens
in his hand, the God in whose hands thy breath is in all thy
ways. Salvation is by the hand of God. This is our whole message. This
is everything in a nutshell. the truth of who God is, of our
salvation, the foundation that stands sure, the mighty hand
of God is what delivers His people. Turn with me to Psalm 89. I'm
going to quit with it. Well, almost quit. I'm almost
ready to quit. Psalm 89, because you're going
to want to see the last two verses in Exodus 3. Psalm 89, God said, He's going
to let you go. by a mighty hand. I'm going to
stretch out my hand. Look at Psalm 89, verse 8. God says, O Lord God of hosts,
who is a strong Lord like unto thee? Huh? Who's strong like
our God? Verse 13, Thou hast a mighty
arm, as strong as thy hand, and high as thy right hand. Now,
the God of this world may not have hands, but in mine does,
and I'm so glad. so glad my God has big hands."
Verse 19, it says, "...thou speakest in vision to thy Holy One, I
have laid help upon one that is mighty." Verse 21, "...with
whom my hand shall be established, mine arm also shall strengthen
him." Verse 25, "...I will set his hand in the sea." said, He shall cry unto me, Thou
art my Father, my God. Verse 27, I'll make Him my firstborn,
higher than the kings of the earth. What is, who is the hand
of God that saves us? What is the hand of God? Now, God is spirit. God dwelleth
not in a body like we think of as a body. In that sense, He
hath no hands. Yet, now, God was made flesh
and dwelt among us." God does have hands. Who, what are His
hands? Jesus Christ. The Lord Jesus
Christ is the mighty right hand and arm of God Almighty. And
we are in His mighty hands. We are saved by the Son of His
right hand, and none can pluck us. Oh, this is all a believer's
peace and comfort when Christ said here in John chapter 10,
they are in my Father's hand and in my hand. Yes, he has hands. I remember as a young child getting
such comfort from my Father's hand. Here, look at your dad's
hand. Here, put your hand inside your
dad's hand when you were a little kid, you know? You're only about
that big. Wow, dad has big hands. My dad's hand, he can beat up
anybody. He can do anything. Go anywhere. Leap tall buildings. You know,
that's what we think about our dad. Well, that's just a human
being. But I'm telling you, our God
is like that. I quoted it to you, he said,
he measured the heavens with a span. That's what it said. He measured the heavens with
one hand. He had no hands. I wish I could
say what I wanted to say about that crap. We're in his hands. And he said, no man can pluck
them. No man, nothing, hell or high
water can't touch. Once I've purposed it, and they're
in my hand, my divine hand, a God in whose hands my breath is,
all thy ways. Are we safe or what? Do you like
this or what? Oh, he has big hands. And I'm
in them, bless God, a mighty hand. This is what saved me.
Now, I plucked as a bran from the burning, the Scripture says.
Who reached down? Who was it that plucked us out
of that pit and the mire and the muck and the sin, huh? Who
was it? Not the preacher, not some soul, but God Himself. His arm is not short, Brother
John. It's long, because he had to
reach a long way to get me. How deep did he have to go in
the cesspool of sin to grab you? The bottom of the barrel. You
ever reach for something and you just can't hardly reach it?
Too short? Man, I've had that problem all
my life. Gabe and Mike have never had a problem with reaching things.
They were six feet tall when they were three years old. And
I've always been too short and already too short. Gone. And it reached way down for me.
Way down. Boy, that's only good news to
a rock-bottom, barrel-bottom dwelling center. To a prodigal
son. That's only good news to a prodigal
son. But if you've ever been a prodigal
son, you realize the only reason you're back home with the Father
is because He drew you with those long arms. Drew you. Right, John? Drew me. Cords of love. Cords of a man.
The hands of a man. This wild ass's colt, Brother
Kelly, is only going to be tamed one way. Strong hands. You grip
Brother Kelly's hands. He's got hands like a vice grip.
Why is that? He's been holding his horses
all those years. If you hold on to wild horses for years,
you're going to have hands like vice grip. That's exactly what
our Lord done to all these wild ass's colts. Taming them. Hold
your horses, Hannah. That's as far as you're going.
I'm going to break you. You're mine. I'm going to get
on your back and ride you. And you're going to settle right
down. Oh, yes, he has strong hands. Strong hands that will not let
you go. Ah, boy. But Satan will, because
we're not in his hands. We're not in his hands. He may
think so. We may think so. That's not so. Look at it. I will stretch out
my hand, verse 20, with all my wonders. What of the wonder?
Can you stand up here before us this morning and tell of the
wonders that God has performed in your life? Could you stand
up here a little while, Tammy, and tell everybody what wonderful
things the Lord has done for you to bring you to where you
are? How every believer could, could tell the story, the wonder
story of God's gracious salvation to them, to bring you to the
point. How about it, Dan? Could you
tell a story? How old were you? Just like Moses in your forties. Verse 20, he says, I will do
these wonders in the midst thereof. After that, he will let you go.
He will. I'm sure of it. Why? Because God said so. That's why. He will let them
go. Why? Because God sent the Word. He
has to. Verse 21. And now here's a provision
of God for all His people that dwell in Egypt. Here's how God's
going to provide for His people. Can you give me another minute,
Amy? You're going to like this. We live in Egypt. How are we
going to get by? Verse 21, amongst these people,
and hey, I'll give this people favor in the sight of the Egyptians.
And it shall come to pass that when you go, you'll not go empty,
that every woman shall borrow of her neighbor. And I heard
that sojourneth in her house, jewels of silver, jewels of gold,
raiment, and she'll put them on your son, your daughter."
In other words, I'm going to provide for you. I'm going to
provide for you. How? Through the Egyptians. I
made them rich to provide for you. Are you getting this? God made
Egypt a rich place. Why? and to provide for them. Jobs and so forth, families,
their children are the recipients of it, and so forth. God's provisions
for his people are by and through the Egyptians, yes? He said,
I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Sabaoth for them.
Thou was precious. God makes a difference. The reason
this world still exists, the reason this world is still turning,
is because God's people are on it. The reason is not a total
economic collapse all over the world, and it never will be.
It never will be. So God's people are on it. And
David, when he was an old man, said, I am old and I have been
young and I have never seen God's people forsaken. The righteous
forsaken are God's seed begging bread. Never. Never. Our Lord
said that when he comes, that they will be married and given
in marriage, buying and selling, building. It's not going to be
a worldwide economic collapse. It wasn't in the days of Noah.
It was a prosperous time. God's people had to eat, had
to have a house. How does he do it? Through the
world. Through the world. Through the Egyptians. He gets
some of them out of favor through them. His sons and daughters
are going to reap from it. Isn't that amazing? That's amazing. But notice this. Borrow. Borrow. This is not your portion. You just borrow it. Just pay your expenses. I'm bringing
it. That's it, man. I'm bringing
it up. of Egypt into a land that flows
with milk. Don't bring your milk pot. Don't
bring your honey jar. You can't take this. It's borrowed.
It's borrowed, the riches of it. So don't lay hold on it like
it's all you've got. This is their portion. This is
all the Egyptians have, is their gold and silver and all that.
The Lord said, I am thy portion. I'm not pushing, and I'm going
to bring you into a land you've never seen before. I've said it. That's your help,
because I'm God. There's none else. Aren't you
glad you know this God? And we'll just, you come back
Sunday or Wednesday night, we'll just preach this same thing.
Okay. Brother Gabe? What hymn number was that? What's that? Thirty-three. This is unfamiliar
to us, but sung to the familiar tune of Come We That Love the
Lord. Hymn number thirty-three sung
to the tune of number twenty-three. Stand with us. Stand up and bless the Lord You
people of His joys Stand up and bless the Lord Your God with
heart and soul and voice Last verse Stand up and bless the
Lord, the Lord your God alone. Stand up and bless His glorious
name, His Lord forevermore.
