The book of Zechariah chapter
9 tonight is our study. And as I mentioned, we looked
a little bit at God's wording in this verse 8. Words that help
us see a little bit more about how He has the oversight or the
protection of His church. I'll encamp about my house. What
promise we have in those verses of Scripture. and that he's going
to take care of the church. He's going to have the oversight
of the church. He's just the preserver of the church. Left
to ourselves, we'd fall, we'd be away, we'd leave, but he has
the ability of taking care of what he promised to do. He has
the power to do that. Well, it brings us, as a result
of that, to verse 9. Now, verse 9 is a verse of Scripture
that is quoted in the New Testament. It's one of those verses of Scripture,
one of those passages of Scripture that's mentioned in every one
of the Gospels. It must have great need for us as we read
this passage of Scripture as it was brought out into the New
Testament, and we'll spend some time on that looking at those
verses. But it says, Rejoice greatly. Rejoice greatly, O daughter
of Zion! Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, thy King cometh unto
thee. He is just, and having salvation,
lowly and riding upon an ass, upon the colt, the foal of an
ass. He's demonstrating in that last
part about how lowly he is. What a lowly state it was for
the God of glory to give up the glory that he had with the Father
before the world was and come down to this sin-cursed earth.
That is just becoming so lowly. He condescended to give up what
he had. He thought it not robbery to
be equal with God, but he gave it up for a season to come to
this earth. And he came down among sinners.
And all of his disciples were sinners. And all those he chose
were sinners. And all those he dealt with were
sinners. They were all about him. And he's the only one that
makes the difference. He's the Savior. He's the Savior. Now, I'd like to read a portion
of each of these four sections in Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.
is one of those passages of scripture or one of those things in scripture
that all four of the gospels mention and so if you turn with
me to the book of Matthew for our first reading the book of
Matthew it is interesting to find out that he demonstrates
in this passage of scripture that he truly is king he's not
over overstating it by any means when he said a king is coming
a king is coming and he Demonstrates that here in this passage of
scripture in the book of Matthew chapter 21 Matthew chapter 21
Keep your finger there in the book of Zechariah but in Matthew
chapter 21 beginning with verse 1 it says and when they drew
nigh unto Jerusalem and and were come to Bethpage, unto the mount
of Olives, then sent Jesus two disciples, saying unto them,
Go into the village over against you, and straightway ye shall
find an ass tied, and a colt with her. Loose them, and bring
them unto me. Now notice this next verse, And
if any man say aught unto thee, ye shall say the Lord hath need
of them and straightway he will send them." Now that is a wonderful
way that the Lord demonstrates that he is king. He's king over
people. He is king over the church. He
is the ruling elder. He is the ruling one. He's the
one that rules. And never once do we find this
word with regard to our God, try. He never tries to do anything
as he thought it so shall it come to pass and as he mentions
here to his two disciples now you know if if we'd have seen
this happen it was our donkey and our ass that was there and
we saw that we could say well we're gonna call the constable
we're gonna have someone you're stealing you're robbing my property
but the king has already dealt with it he said if anybody should
ask what are you doing just tell him that i have need of him the
lord has need the king has need of him okay it's all right and
so that goes on it just happens that way the lord is the king
he's the king of the natural world he's the king of the spiritual
world he's the king of the church he's the king of heaven he's
the king of earth he's king of under those under the earth he's
the king of all those that are in the sea so when we say our
king is coming how glorious it is that we can call him Our King,
He rules and reigns. It goes on to tell us that all
this was done that it might be fulfilled, which was spoken by
the prophet, the prophet Zechariah, 500 years before. Zechariah prophesied
about this, and it's fulfilled here in the book of Matthew,
but also in the book of Mark, the book of Luke, and the book
of John. Tell ye the daughter of Zion, Behold thy king cometh
unto thee, meek and sitting upon an ass, the colt of the fold
of an ass. And the disciples went, and did
as Jesus commanded them, and brought the ass and the colt,
and put them their clothes, and they set him thereon. And a great
multitude spread their garments in the way. Others cut down branches
from the trees, and strawed them in the way. The multitude that
went before and that followed cried saying Hosanna to the son
of David blessed be he the that cometh in the name of the Lord
Hosanna in the highest and when he was coming to Jerusalem all
the city was moved saying who is this and the multitude said
this is Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee So did you
notice his kingship over that that donkey? Now I've been around
I've been around horses. My uncle had horses, and he taught
me about staying away from their hind legs, and don't go around
their hind legs without touching them, so that they know you're
there, because you're liable to be sent over that fence. Now,
it took him a long time to break a new colt. It took him a long
time. He worked at it. He didn't beat or abuse these
horses, but he worked at it. It took a long time. we find
the kingship of our saviors demonstrated right here when he sat on that
donkey and we don't even find a crow hop out of it we find
that man be born as a wild asses colt and the king comes in all
his glory in the day of our salvation and presents himself as king
and he takes us to himself and we submit to him because he's
the king of kings and he is the lord of lords he never has tried
to do anything. He's never lost a battle. He's
never lost a soul. He's never had anyone finally
say, no I don't want you. If they are His, He will persevere. The only perseverance that we
have is the perseverance of Christ. We will persevere to the end
because of the perseverance of Christ. Christ will persevere.
He persevered with the word that was sent. He persevered with
the people that owned that donkey. And He persevered when He was
put on that donkey. And He persevered with a whole
group of people that in less than a week are going to cry
in the street, crucify Him. He is the King of all. He's the King over the lost.
He's the King over the elect. He's the King over the church.
He's the king of fallen angels and he's the king of of elect
angels. He is just the king Well turn
with me just a little further in the new testament to the book
of mark there The book of mark also records this the book of
mark chapter 11 We have these words recorded about the Lord
coming into Jerusalem. He's demonstrating that he's
king. He's king over the owners. He's king over the ownies, the
animals. He's the king over those that
are in the street. He's the king of his disciples. He is king.
He is the sovereign ruler of all things. And that is who saves
us from our sin. You know, we can discuss this
subject under great discussion today in certain areas about
the kingship of Christ, whether you're saved and then have to
take Him as King. I will say this, if you're not saved by
the King, you're not saved by the Lord, you'll never have salvation
he is the Savior he's the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and we
don't make him Lord he was made that by God Almighty we cannot
we're just going to consent with what God has to say because he
gives us that in Mark chapter 11 verse 1 it says and when they
had come nigh to Jerusalem unto Beth Pagie and Bethany at the
Mount of Olives he sendeth forth two of his disciples and saith
unto them Go your way into the village over against you, and
as soon as you entered into it, you shall find a colt tied, and
wheresoever never man sat." Here we have that subject. Nobody
has ever sat on this colt. That's important to realize that
it is God Almighty that is doing this business. He's sending the
messenger. He's sending the message already
ahead to those owners. And He is sending the message
to that cult. That cult is not going to get
jittery around the Sovereign King of the Universe. loose him
and bring him. And if any man say unto you,
why do you this? Say ye that the Lord hath need
of him. The Lord hath, didn't say Jesus, didn't say that man
born in Bethlehem, but the Lord hath need of him, the sovereign,
the king. And straightway he will send
him hither. You're not gonna have any trouble after that.
How in the world can this man walk up to a man by the name
of Matthew and say follow me and that Matthew who is a collector
of taxes follow him the same way he does this he is king he
is ruler and he has the effectual call that brings people from
darkness to his marvelous light. He can call us out of a pit.
He can call us out of the rock we're in. We are just at his
beck and call, if you please. Though we may shudder and we
may resist and all that, we have a God that is able to overpower
us. And on this side of it, we say,
thank you, Lord, for doing what you did, because if you'd have
left me alone, I'd have never come on my own. It goes on to
tell us here in the book of Mark and they went their way and found
the colt tied by the door without in a place where two ways met
and they loosed him and a certain of them that stood there said
unto them and you know those guys are there by divine appointment
those guys are there by divine appointment they are there to
consent to what the Lord has need of and certain of them stood
there what do you loose him the colt and they said unto them
even as Jesus had commanded them and they let them go travel with
me just a little further over to the book of Luke chapter 19
the book of Luke chapter 19 as we see this wonderful verse found
in the book of Zechariah chapter 9 is brought up here in the book
of Matthew the book of Mark the book of Luke and the book of
John We have this fulfillment of that verse of scripture so
depicted as the Lord speaks and it's carried out just as he said
it would be carried out. He does this with all of his
work. As he thought it, so shall it come to pass. He never tried
to do anything. here in the book of Luke chapter
19 and verse 29 the scripture says and it came to pass when
he had come nigh to Bethphage and Bethany at the mount called
the Mount of Olives he sent two disciples saying go into the
village over against you in which ye are entering in ye shall find
a colt tied thereon yet never man set loose him and bring him
hither and if any man ask you why do you loose him thus shall
you say because the Lord hath need of him this is how the answer
Now they didn't have to make up a story. We don't have to
make up a story. We're reporters. You know what
they were? They were just reporters. They just reported what they
had been shared. And that's all we can do. We
can only report what we know. And they knew to report what
the Lord had given them. If anybody should ask, now I
don't know when they're traveling down there if they thought there'd
be anybody around there what kind of thought this was that
they've been asked to go take an animal that didn't belong
to them but when they got down there and saw the power of their
word the word of the Lord out of their mouth and saw that how
it quelled the opposition they took that colt and brought it
back to the Lord Jesus and it tells us there as we continue
reading in the book of Luke chapter 19 it says in verse 32 and they
that were sent went their way and found even as he had said
unto them and as they were loosing the cult the owners thereof said
unto them why loose you the cult and they said the Lord hath need
of him you know when we declare the gospel that's all we're doing
we're just reporting what the Lord has given us we can't create
anything any better Lord if we do if we do anything wrong a
bad about we're making it worse so just leave it alone that's
the word of the Lord finally over the book of John chapter
12 in John chapter 12 this is brought up again as the Lord
instructed them John chapter 12 verse 12 the scripture share
this but the cheap excuse me and on the next day much people
that came to the feast when they heard that Jesus was coming to
Jerusalem took branches of palm trees and went forth to meet
him, and cried, Hosanna! Blessed is the King of Israel,
that cometh in the name of the Lord. And Jesus, when he had
found a young ass, sat thereon, as it is written, Fear not, daughter
of Zion. Behold, thy king cometh, sitting
upon an ass's colt. These things understood not his
disciples at the first. But when Jesus was glorified,
now when was that? When He came out of the tomb,
when He came victorious, when He was truly Lord over sin, when
He was truly Lord over death, when He was truly Lord over hell,
when He demonstrated that in such a glorious manner, when
He was glorified Then remembered they that these things were written
of him, and that they had done these things unto him. The Lord
brought it to their remembrance. I am so thankful that the Lord
brings his word to our remembrance. We may not understand it at the
moment, but the Lord continues to bring it to our remembrance
just like He did Him and we have the blessed knowledge of knowing
that our Lord is sitting on a throne high and lifted up our Lord is
sitting at the right hand of the Father making intercession
for us now let's go back there to the book of Zechariah chapter
9 and verse 9 and just look at that wonderful passage of scripture
rejoice greatly rejoice greatly you know Whenever God would have
His people especially glad, whenever He wants His people especially
glad, you know what He does? He always causes His people to
look to Him. If God wants us to rejoice, what
does He do? He has us look to Him. He never
has us look to ourselves. we get depressed i remember one
preacher saying he didn't ask us to look in our navel we look
to him that's where our encouragement comes from that's where our hope
comes from that's where our peace comes from it is he It is Him. It is the Savior. It is the King.
And He says here to rejoice greatly. He has saved His people from
their sins. We rejoice greatly in that truth
that He has saved His people from their sins. We rejoice greatly. And He calls on this daughter
of Jerusalem and daughter of Israel. What's it say there?
O daughter of Zion, shout O daughter of Jerusalem. He causes us to
greatly rejoice in Him. Now turn with me over to the
New Testament and then we'll go look up a few verses in the
Old Testament about this. But in Philippians chapter 4
and verse 4 we have some instructions given to us by the Apostle Paul
but there's only a group, a remnant according to the election of
grace. There's only a group that can do this very thing. In Philippians
chapter 4 and verse 4 the Apostle Paul is used of the Holy Spirit
to write some wonderful instructions to us. The whole book of Philippians
is wonderful instructions to us. It is the Holy Spirit that
has given us this book just like all the rest of the books of
the Bible. Holy men of God spoke as they
were moved by the Holy Spirit. Well here in Philippians chapter
4 and verse 4 it says rejoice in the Lord always. Well, there's
only one way that we can do that and that is always looking to
Him. Now, Peter took his eyes off the Lord and began to sink
and he says, Lord, help me, save me lest I perish. Keeping our
eyes on the Lord. And that's one of the wonderful
things that the God Almighty, the Lord does for us is keep
our eyes on Him. He is so glorious. We're drawn
to Him. We are drawn to Him. so rejoice
in the Lord always and again I say rejoice so the instructions
found here in the book of Zechariah it says rejoice greatly oh daughter
of Zion well turn with me to for a few readings over the Old
Testament and we're going to begin in the Psalms we're going
to begin in the Psalms much of the Psalms is rejoicing for the
church even in the sorrow of the Lord Psalm 22 tells us about
the great sorrow of our Savior. You know what we do? The church
rejoices in that, because it was through that our sin was
put away. Here in the Psalms, in Psalm
28, Psalm 28. Would you turn there with me?
Psalm 28, and I like to read verses 7, 8, and 9. Psalm 28,
verses 7, 8, and 9. We are to rejoice. Now, a little
farther in that verse of Scripture, Thy King cometh. No greater rejoicing
can we have than Our King cometh. Our King comes to us every day.
Our King comes to us in the night seasons. Our King comes to us
in the day seasons. Our King cometh. He is never
not King. He is never less than. Here in the book of Psalms, Psalm
28, verse 7, the Scriptures share this, The Lord is my strength
and my shield. The Lord is my strength and my
shield. My heart trusteth in Him, and I am helped. Therefore, my heart greatly rejoices."
What are we rejoicing in? We're rejoicing in the Lord is
my strength. When I have none, He is my strength
and my shield. I had no protection of myself.
I used to hear preachers say, you know, you put on the whole
armor of God and the breastplate of righteousness, but don't turn
around because the devil's Arrows can strike you because there's
nothing to cover your back. Where is the Lord standing during that
time? He's protecting his people my goodness If we're struck by
an arrow, it's because of God's purpose and you know what that's
gonna do to us We're gonna be pointed towards the Lord That
is what if we have any distress in our life We've drawn to the
Lord the Lord is my strength and my shield my heart trusteth
in him and I am helped Therefore, my heart greatly rejoiceth, and
my song will I praise Him. The Lord is their strength. He
is the saving strength of His anointed. He is the saving strength
of the church. He is the saving strength of
the children, or the daughters of Zion, the daughters of Jerusalem. He is the only Savior. He is
all we have. He is all we need. He is the
Lord, He is the King. Save thy people and bless thine
inheritance. Feed them also and lift them
up forever. So what do we do? Rejoice ever. We rejoice in a Savior that can
save. We rejoice in a Redeemer that
can redeem. We rejoice in a God Almighty
that raised from the dead after paying full payment for our ransom. Ransom price paid. He has ransomed
His people. He has paid for them in full.
He has paid full atonement. He has made us to be his children. And so we rejoice. What can we
do when we hear those clear, wonderful passages of scripture
about what the Lord has done for his people, for his church,
for those that were opposed to him, those that shook their fist
at him. And yet he was king enough to
overpower all of that. we have a will but it's always
contrary to God we're thankful for the King that comes powerful
enough to take care of that very issue in Psalm 71 Psalm 71 Our hope is in the Lord. Our
praise is to Him. We thank Him. Here in Psalm 71,
Psalm 71, and there in verse 22, Psalm 71 and verse 22, it
says, I will praise with the psaltery, even thy truth, O my
God. Isn't it wonderful that we get
to go to the Word of God? that we can know it's the Word
of God, that He takes away the doubt concerning the Word of
God, that we can rest in the Word of God, we can rest in His
Word to us, we can rest that we love Him because He first
loved us, we can rest in we chose Him because He first chose us,
we can be settled in that. We're not turned by every wind
of doctrine that comes along, but we can be settled. Why? Because
He's the King. and he calls on the church, and
the church will rejoice greatly in him. Oh, verse 22, O my God,
unto thee will I sing with the harp, O thou holy one of Israel. My lips shall greatly rejoice
when I sing unto thee, and my soul which thou hast redeemed,
you've redeemed me, I rejoice. I could not redeem myself, I
didn't have the price. It was paltry. It was such a
sham when I was attempting to bring my own righteousness and
have it pay the price. It is God and God alone that
can pay our price. And what does that do to us that
are freed out of prison? We rejoice. We've been brought
out of prison. That's what the Lord says. He
brings us out of prison. He brings us out of darkness
to light. What do we do? Rejoice. We have this gracious
gift given to us of rejoicing in the Lord. Rejoice greatly,
O daughters of Zion, and daughters of Jerusalem, O the church, rejoice
in the Lord." We only have time for that. We don't have time
for all the secondary and third things that go on. So many religious
things are trying to make God successful. God doesn't need
help in being successful. He's the Lord. He's the King. He is successful in His own right. In the book of the Psalms again,
excuse me, in the book of Isaiah chapter 61, Isaiah chapter 61,
the Lord is successful in His own right. He doesn't need help.
he calls on his people to be faithful to the word to bring
it just like those disciples when he said go and if anybody
should ask you this is what you're to tell them the Lord hath need
of them this is all they didn't have to create a story they didn't
have to make it better they didn't have to make it worse they just
told the truth about it the Lord hath need of him you know that's
all God's people are called on to do is just report what the
Lord has said. Here in the book of Isaiah chapter
61 verse 10, I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my soul shall be
joyful in my God. Did you notice that personal
pronoun about God? Can you just think for a moment
that God would condescend to be our God? That He would come
and be the God of the church when He has been God for eternity? He has been the eternal God.
Heaven and earth were created by Him, but before He created
heaven and earth, or Adam and Eve, or all the critters, He
was in His glory. He doesn't need us, but He created
the church for His good pleasure. He is going to demonstrate the
greatest of grace by saving people from their sin. As we continue
to look there in Isaiah 61 and verse 10, it says there, For
He hath clothed me My goodness, don't we have enough to rejoice
in that He hath clothed us with His righteousness? He has made
us accepted in the Beloved. He has caused us to call upon
Him. He has given us faith to believe
Him. He has brought us before Him.
We're like Mephibosheth left to ourselves. We can't get to
Him. But He brought us to Him. He fetched us to Him. He goes
on to tell us, He hath clothed me with the garments of salvation. He hath covered me with the robe
of righteousness. greatly rejoice, O daughters
of Zion and daughters of Jerusalem. Why? Your King is coming. He
is King of salvation. He is King of righteousness.
He is the King over all our enemies. He is the King over all the enemies
of the church. He is the King over the devil, Satan. Goes on
to tell us here. He said it there in verse 10
He has covered me with the robe of righteousness as a bridegroom
decketh himself With ornaments and as a bride adorned with herself
with her jewels. No just Go look at a picture
of a wedding there they got their fine clothes on and he said this
is just like a man and woman getting married their clothes
and they're prepared for this and God has clothed his people
with the garments of salvation and with the robe of righteousness. 1st Samuel, backing up to 1st
Samuel, 1st Samuel chapter 2, we are acquainted here with a
lady by the name of Hannah. 1st Samuel chapter 2, a lady
by the name of Hannah. I heard the other day a wonderful
statement from brother Bill Parker that just helped me with a whole
lot and that was only God can make good come out of evil. I'm
not making an excuse for this man having two wives. Please
don't. But God used it for his glory. Only God can do that.
He is God. And it tells us here that one
of his wives was barren. Now notice what she had to say
here. In 2 Samuel, or excuse me, 1
Samuel, chapter 2 and verse 1, Hannah prayed. Now I've used
Hannah as an example of what prayer really is. She poured
out her heart before the Lord. That is what real prayer is. It's closet prayer. Not public,
but closet prayer. My heart rejoiceth in the Lord. My horn is exalted in the Lord. You know that word horn is often
used to mean power. The only power I have is in the
Lord. The only power over this life
is in the Lord. My horn is exalted in the Lord. I have only power in the Lord.
He's the only power I have. I am weak and without help or
hope in myself, but I have power in the Lord. my mouth is enlarged
over my enemies because I rejoice in thy salvation we can simply
say the enemies are taken care of we rejoice greatly in the
Lord as Hannah shares with us she's a sister that we have the
privilege of knowing so long ago a lady by the name of Hannah
who knew the grace of God because God is King brought her to this
knowledge about himself and revealed that to her and she rejoiced
greatly in the Lord over in the a little farther towards the
New Testament is a little book called Habakkuk Habakkuk sometime
ago we went through the book of Habakkuk we find that Every
book of the Old Testament and every book of the New Testament
has the same message Old Testament doesn't change and we get a new
message in the New Testament in the Old Testament We have
many types and shadows, but you know the Lord used types and
shadows and pictures in his own ministry He shared with us that
we're like sheep That's a picture He's like a door. That's a picture.
That's a type. That's a shadow. So He did the
same thing in the New Testament when He lifted up that cup, when
He lifted up that bread. That's a type and a shadow and
a picture. Anybody that's going to take
that as reality is greatly mistaken. There is no spiritual benefit
in those types and shadows, but there is true benefit and true
grace and mercy in the real. So here in the book of Habakkuk,
we have this great prophet, this great preacher, this preacher
of righteousness. He brings out in the book of
Habakkuk chapter 3, last chapter of the book of Habakkuk, verse
17. Now we mentioned this in the
past because we looked at, Habakkuk looked at things and he says,
you know there's a lot of things that are going on that are just
not real positive. Although the fig tree shall not
blossom. You know today I drove down to
Hood River to Visit with Shannon, and there's guys out there in
the orchards, pruning the orchards. They're anticipating the harvest
again. They're anticipating leaves and blossoms, fruit, harvest,
and we'll do it again. They're out there looking at
that. And he said, although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither
shall fruit be in the vines. There's no grapes. There's no
figs. The labor of the olive, there's
no olives to press, fail, and the field shall not yield meat.
No grain out there. the flock, all the flock is cut
short, shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be
no herd in the stall. There's no beef, there's no sheep,
there's no grapes, there's no wheat, there's no olives, there
is nothing. Although all of that, now just
look at it from a metaphorical standpoint, it looks bad. We're getting old, feeble, aches
and pains, those of our own household. I would love to be able to go
visit with my sisters and say we have fellowship in the Lord.
I would love to go visit with my brothers and say I have fellowship
in the Lord. Breaks my heart. I have been
called some of the worst things by my own family. But although
it's all happening, what's it say here? Yet, verse 18, I will
rejoice in the Lord. I will joy. Now what? Why would
we joy? He is the God of my salvation. He is the author and finisher
of my salvation. He is the Alpha and Omega. There
is no salvation out of this one. If we are apart from Him, there
is no salvation. We have no hope, but in Him we
have all hope. We have a Savior, we have salvation. Our true rejoicing is always
in our God. Our rejoicing is not in what
we do. Our rejoicing is not in what
we say. Our rejoicing is not in our knowledge,
our wisdom, our repentance, The church rejoices in Him who is
all these things, who gives every spiritual blessing in Himself.
And if we are given the privilege to speak to someone of the gospel,
it is He that opened the door. He is the one that has gone before,
just like He did with Philip when he went down to the Ethiopian
eunuch. He opened the door. Paul mentions
about the doors being opened. If God should give you the opportunity
of sharing the great truth of the gospel, thank God and glorify
God that He has opened that door. Salvation is of the Lord. The
battle is not ours, but it's the Lord's. How glorious is that
to the church? We just sit back and rejoice.
One of the most peaceful moments I've ever had in my life was
to realize that it's not up to me to get anybody saved. That was just peace. I just was
settled. It's not up to me. I'm not the
midwife. I cannot use words to get anybody
to move off of their couch when it comes to spiritual things.
It is we rejoice in the Lord. The Lord's will will be done. He is King. All blessings are
of the Lord. We rejoice greatly in all of
that, O daughter of Zion, O daughter of Jerusalem. Now, there's a
passage over in the book of Galatians I'd like to read. That book of
Galatians is just such a wonderful book. The Apostle Paul was writing
to them to begin with, and he's reminding those few that are
in those congregations, true rejoicing is only in God. It's not in the law. It's not
in our righteousness. It's not in us keeping the law.
That's what those guys were coming along. You've got to keep the
law. And there's no rejoicing in that.
There's only more sadness. The work's never done. We're never finished. We never
get it done. And yet, when the Lord came and saved those people
that were there, and Paul writes to them about our hope is only
in the Lord, you know, they begin, you're right. you're right, the
word of God was affectional in their heart and they could say
that is right I have never had any good feeling about trying
to keep the law because I can't do it but I've had this wonderful
graciousness in my heart because God has done the work well here
in the book of Galatians we read about this wonderful salvation of the Lord in Galatians
chapter 4 now he's comparing he's using an analogy in fact
he uses the very term uh... not analogy here but allegory
he uses the term allegory it's a Greek word and he brings it
out here in Galatians chapter 4 verse 22 Galatians chapter
4 and verse 22 for it is written that Abraham had two sons the
one by a bondmaid the other by a free woman But he who was the
bondwoman was born after the flesh, but he that was the free
woman was born was by promise." What a picture here! Flesh? What? Bondwoman? Flesh? Free woman? Promised seed? Which things are an allegory? You know, as we look back there,
we see all the things that happened there were for our example or
for a type for us. They're an allegory for us. that
son of that bondwoman would not inherit with the child of promise. Now God gave him many physical
blessings, but he gave the spiritual blessings to Isaac. It goes on
to tell us here, which things are an allegory, for these are
the two covenants, the one from Mount Sinai, which gendereth
bondage, which is Agar. It's bondage, bondage, bondage. trying to be under the law, imposing
it upon herself, or having someone to impose upon us. For this Agor
is Mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem, which
now is, and is in bondage with her children. How bound Jerusalem
was at the time that Paul is writing, at the time the Lord
was here. but the daughters of zion and the daughters of jerusalem
that he's speaking about goes on but jerusalem which is above
is free which is the mother of us all this jerusalem which is
above the church is totally free in christ jesus he is our king
we don't look for another he is our king he's our god he's
the one we greatly rejoice in and the church greatly rejoices
in him i don't know about you but sometimes There's two or
three things that really bother me. Number one, what really bothers
me is I'm stopped at a stop sign or I'm traveling and there's
someone stopped at a stop sign and there's 15 feet and they
pull out in front of me. Now that bothers me. Today I
had someone back out into the street when I'm about five feet
away from them and that bothers me. The third thing that bothers
me is when I'm visiting with my family and they got to tell
me how religious they are. all what our church is doing
all all the things that we're doing all that all this stuff
that we're going on you know the church the true church doesn't
have that issue because we don't have to tell what our church
is doing we can tell what god is doing he is king he is the
righteous king he saves his people completely from their sins we
don't have to discuss anything what we're doing because it's
worthless but what he's doing is all glorious oh daughters
of Zion oh daughters of Jerusalem rejoice greatly and in conclusion
our time is up but I want to go back to the book of Zechariah
for just a moment and read that verse again in Zechariah chapter
9 we're not finished we'll come back here Rejoice greatly, O
daughter of Zion! Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, thy King cometh." Thy
King. Isn't it wonderful that God lets
us call Him our King? Thy King cometh. He has condescended
to the Church, I'll be your King. You shall be my people. I'll
be your God. You shall be my people. Thy King
cometh unto thee, and He is just, He is righteous, and having salvation,
or is salvation, is salvation, and then it tells us He came
lowly, riding upon an ass, upon the colt, the foal of an ass.
He's demonstrating that He is King over all those of us that
be born like a wild ass's colt. self self self and then he saves
us he says the Lord the Lord the Lord well until we meet again
may God bless you and we look forward to looking at the remainder
of this verse of scripture in our next time together here in
the book of Zechariah chapter 9 verse 9 rejoice greatly O daughter
of Zion
