Good morning. Let's all stand
together and sing hymn number one. Hymn number one. O worship the King, all glorious
above, and gratefully sing his power and his love. Our shield and defender, the
Ancient of Days, pavilioned in splendor and girded with praise. O tell of his might, O sing of
his grace, whose robe is the light Whose canopy space is chariots
of rep' The deep thunderclouds form, And dark is his path on
the wings of the storm. Thy bountiful care, what tongue
can recite? It breathes in the air, it shines
in the light. It streams from the hills, it
descends to the plain. and sweetly distills in the dew
and the rain. Frail children of dust and feeble
as frail, in thee do we trust, nor find thee to fail. By mercies how tender, how firm
to the end, power maker, defender, redeemer, and friend. They stated we'll sing hymn number
361. 361. ? Sweet hour of prayer ? ? Sweet
hour of prayer ? ? That calls me from a world of care ? and
bids me at my father's throne make all my wants and wishes
known. In season distress and grief. My soul has sought and found
relief. And oft escaped the tempter's
snare, By thy return, sweet hour of prayer. Sweet hour of prayer,
sweet hour of prayer, thy wings shall my petition bear. To him whose truth and faithfulness
Engage the waiting soul to bliss. Since he bids me seek his face,
believe his word and trust his grace. I'll cast on Him my every
care and wait for the sweet hour of prayer. Sweet hour of prayer,
sweet hour of prayer, may I thy consolation share. Till from Mount Pisgah's lofty
height, I view my home and take my flight. This robe of flesh
I'll drop and rise to seize the air. ? For lasting prize and
shout ? ? While passing through the air ? ? Farewell, farewell
sweet hour of prayer ? If you have your Bibles with
you this morning, please turn with me to the book of Psalms.
We'll read Psalm 71. Psalm 71. Psalm 71. In thee, O Lord, do I put my
trust. Let me never be put to confusion.
Deliver me in thy righteousness and cause me to escape. Incline
thine ear unto me and save me. Be thou my strong habitation,
whereunto I may continually resort. Thou hast given commandment to
save me. For thou art my rock and my fortress. Deliver me,
O my God, out of the hand of the wicked, out of the hand of
the unrighteous and cruel man. For thou art my hope, O Lord
God. Thou art my trust from my youth.
By thee have I been holden up from the womb. Thou art he that took me out
of my mother's bowels. My praise shall be continually.
I am as a wonder unto many, but thou art my strong refuge. Let
my mouth be filled with thy praise and with thy honor all the day.
Cast me not off in the time of old age. Forsake me not when
my strength faileth, for mine enemies speak against me. And
they that lay wait for my soul take counsel together, saying,
God hath forsaken him, persecute and take him, for none to deliver
him. O God, be not far from me. O
my God, make haste for my help. Let them be confounded and consumed
that are adversaries to my soul. Let them be covered with reproach
and dishonor that seek my hurt. But I will hope continually and
will yet praise thee more and more. My mouth shall show forth
thy righteousness and thy salvation all the day, for I know not the
numbers thereof. I will go in the strength of
the Lord God. I will make mention of thy righteousness, of thine
only. O God, thou hast taught me from
my youth, and hitherto have I declared thy wondrous works. Now also,
when I am old and gray-headed, O God, forsake me not, until
I have showed thy strength unto this generation, thy power to
every one that is to come. Thy righteousness also, O God,
is very high, who has done great things. O God, who is like unto
thee? Thou which hast showed me great
and sore troubles shalt quicken me again and shalt bring me up
again from the depths of the earth. Thou shalt increase my
greatness and comfort me on every side. I will also praise thee
with a psaltery even thy truth. O my God, unto thee will I sing
with the harp. O thou holy one of Israel, My
lips shall greatly rejoice when I sing unto thee, and my soul
which thou hast redeemed. My tongue also shall talk of
thy righteousness all the day long, for they are confounded,
for they are brought unto shame that seek my hurt. Oh, our Lord God Almighty, our
Heavenly Father, we bow before you this morning with our hearts humbled in thy presence. Lord, we come to you through
your precious Son. We thank you for your word preserved through
time. Thank you for the blessed truth, all the wonderful knowledge therein
of our Lord Jesus Christ. Lord, we thank you for this gathering
of saints today. Thank you for this place to gather
and worship you. Lord, what a privilege it is
to come to you, come before you. Thank you for the privilege of
prayer. Lord, we thank you for all the
men who you have blessed to be able to proclaim the gospel to
us. Thank you for our dear pastor.
He's been faithful for many, many years. Lord, we thank you
for all the men that you bring to speak to us. Lord, we thank you for Brother
Brad. We ask that you would be with him as he stands up here
today. Give him the strength to proclaim the gospel. Lord, we
ask that you would meet with us, speak through him, speak
to our hearts, to the nourishment of our souls. Let us not meet
in vain. Lord, as we have just read, we
ask that you would cause us to continually praise thee. Let
us to always sing thy praises, to honor thy name, Lord, let
us never forget all that you've given us, all that you've freely
provided us. Let us never forget our blessed
Savior. Lord, and please never forget
us. Please leave us not to ourselves. Keep us from this world and from
ourselves. Keep us clinging unto thee and thee alone. Lord, we pray for the lost ones
among us, our dear loved ones. We ask that you would show mercy
to them if you would. Pray for our lost loved ones
who are not here, those who may be listening online or whatever
the case may be, Lord. Only you can reach them and bring
them unto you. Lord, pray for my children. You would bring them up in the
days of their youth. Keep them all the days of their
life, Lord, if you would. Lord, please meet with us. I
ask that you would bless this service. I ask for traveling
mercies for our pastor and his dear wife as they make their
way home to us next week. Lord, we ask Thy will be done
in all things, across this nation, across this world. In all things, Lord, Thy will
be done, for Christ's sake, amen. Let's all stand together and
sing the hymn of the day in the bulletin. Hark how the gospel trumpet sounds
Christ and free grace therein abounds Free grace to such as
sinners be And if free grace, why not for me? The Savior died, and by His blood
brought rebel sinners near to God. He died to set the captives
free. And why, my soul, why not for
Thee? Thus Jesus came the poor to bless,
to clothe him with his righteousness. That robe is spotless, full,
and free, and why, my soul, why not for thee? Eternal life by Christ is given,
and sinful men are raised to heaven. Then sing of grace so
rich and free, and say, my soul, why not for thee? Be seated. Well, it's an honor
to introduce my dear Uncle Brad, Brother Brad to everybody else
I get to call my uncle. I think everybody here knows him. Brother, you come and preach
to us what the Lord's put on your heart. Thank you for that prayer. Before
I forget, Brother James Elmore is not with us this morning.
He sent word asking us here, his brothers and sisters, to
pray for him and his family, going through some great trials.
So when we pray, we'll be sure to remember Brother James. Good morning, everybody. I was thinking of, Message this
morning, I think it was yesterday, I was driving down the road and
I thought I remembered where scripture said, holding forth
the word of life. And I looked that up this morning,
and this is not where I'm preaching from, but I'll read it to you.
Paul's talking to the Philippians in Philippians chapter two, He
said, do all things without murmurings and disputings, that you may
be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke,
in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye
shine as lights in the world, holding forth the word of life,
that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I've not run
in vain, neither labored in vain. That's what we endeavor to do
this morning, holding forth God's word, which is life, the word
we had before us. They are spirit. They are life. And they speak of Christ, who
is our life. And, you know, the word of God
can be examined. And. Dissected, if you will,
put under a microscope We can shine the light brightly upon
it. We can shine the light of other
scripture on scripture. And it it's found to be ever
faithful, ever true, eternal, full of instruction, full of
help and hope and light and life. And I've titled this message
this morning. These are written. These are
written, and we find this in John chapter 20. That's where
I'm preaching from this morning. John chapter 20, beginning in
verse 30. In many other signs, truly, did
Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written
in this book. But these are written that ye
might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that
believing ye might have life through his name. I'd like us I'd like to first
draw our attention to this fact regarding our text. Such fullness
and display of power and might and grace and truth in our Lord's
many acts referred to here as signs as to who he is. The acts that he performed, the
signs that he gave testified as to who he was, God in man,
the God man. But these are written. He came to accomplish all that
was recorded and written, and these are written on purpose.
As are all things there on purpose and for a purpose with a purpose
that you might believe. that ye, you and I might believe. There's no doubt as we see in
this chapter, the greatest sign of all that he who laid down
his life has taken it up again. And he's risen from the dead
by his own power. And he makes himself known to
his disciples, especially Thomas. where he had just bid him to
thrust his hand into his side. And upon doing so, Thomas said,
my Lord and my God. But to continue on with this
thought, that these are written that you might believe, that
you and I might believe. Believe what, you may ask? And Pam and I was talking about
this a few days ago. You listen to people talk, and
there's a lot of talk these days about my faith. But you never hear them say,
my faith in what? My faith in who? I mean, it is
as though as long as you believe something, you'll be okay. And
that's a lie. And it needs to be, who are we
trusting? What are we trusting? I don't look to my faith. My
faith never accomplished anything. I don't trust my faith. I trust
him who my faith believes. And that's what God-given faith
does. That's what saving faith does.
Its object is its source of Assurance is source of salvation. But we're told very plainly and
very simply, believe that Jesus is the Christ. That's what I
want to hear men say. Believe that Jesus is the Christ,
the son of God, and that believing, you might have life through his
name. And then I want us to consider
in passing these wondrous words. Life through his name, life through
his name. My first thought is what a name
that must be, what a name that must be, that I might have life
through his name. Thou shalt call his name, Jesus,
Jehovah, Savior. Behold, a virgin shall bring
forth a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel. God, which being interpreted,
is God with us. That's his name, Immanuel. That name that's above every
name. And our God says that his name every knee shall bow, and
every tongue shall confess that he is Lord. I read this, some writer wrote,
behold in this the deepest mystery and the richest mercy that ever
was. By the light of nature, we see
God as a God above us. By the light of the law, we see
him as a God against us. But by the light of the gospel,
we see him as Emmanuel, God with us. in our own nature. We read also in scripture, he
shall be called wonderful, the mighty God, the everlasting father,
the prince of peace. What a wonderful name. What a
wonderful name. Name above all names. It's a precious name. Oh, how
precious is the name of Jesus. what it brings to our hearts
and our minds when we utter His name, when we think on His name.
Thou art indeed, Emmanuel, God with us, God in us, God for us. Thou art Jehovah, our righteousness. And in that sweet name, Jesus,
Christ Jesus, is comprehended every other name. In Acts chapter four and verse
12, we read this, neither is there salvation in any other,
for there is none other name under heaven given among men,
whereby we must be saved. None other name but his name. And I'm trying to have us consider
what we just read, that you might have life through his name. life through His name. That's the ultimate need of us
all, life. If we have no life, what are
we? We're nothing. Turn with me over
to 1 John. Let's read this together. You know, I said at the outset
that looking at other scriptures to shed light on the scripture
that we're studying. And this helps us to do that.
What I'm doing here, right here, John chapter 5 and verse 1. We read, whosoever believeth
that Jesus Christ is born of God. There's that life. God give
him life. Whosoever believeth that Jesus
is the Christ is born of God, has life. And read also down
in verse 11 of this same chapter, and this is the record that God
hath given to us eternal life, and this life is any son. He
that hath the son hath life, and he that hath not the son
of God hath not life. These things have I written unto
you that believe on the name of the son of God, that ye may
know that you have eternal life and that you may believe on the
name of the son of God. And over in verse 20, and we
know that the son of God has come and given us an understanding
that we may know him that is true, we are in him that is true,
even in his son, Jesus Christ. This is the true God in eternal
life. life, life in him. And let me
say this, and I'm sure you all will agree with this statement,
that the design of all scripture is to produce faith. Faith cometh
by hearing and hearing by the word of God. And there is no
text, and I've said this before, and I've thought this so many
times, there's no text in the whole book which is intended
to create doubt. The one intent of scripture is
that you may believe on Jesus Christ. There's no caution given
regarding believing. Doubt and unbelief is a seed
that's self-sown or sown by the devil. The one intent of scripture
is that you may believe on Jesus Christ. Further than that, in
1 John 3, 23, the command is given. And this is his commandment. That you should believe on the
name of his son, Jesus Christ. This is God's commandment. This
is my beloved son. Hear ye him. And his commandment
that we should believe on the name of his son, Jesus Christ. Now turn over to John chapter
1, beginning in verse 11. He came unto his own, and his
own received him not, but as many as received him, To them
gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe
on his name. There it is again, which were
born not of blood, nor the will of the flesh, nor the will of
man, but of God, which were given life, which were born of God. We read that in 1 John 5, 1,
didn't we? They that believe in Christ are
born of God. And there it is again, they were
born not of blood nor the will of man or the will of the flesh,
but of God. Those that believe were given
power to become the sons of God. And, you know, our Lord in Matthew
22. We don't have to turn there,
but we can read the account where he asked some Pharisees, what
think you of Christ? Whose son is he? That must be
an important question if our Lord asked it. They say unto him, these Pharisees,
they say, well, he's the son of David, just a man. He is the son of David by the
flesh, according to the flesh. And our Lord answered, he said,
how then doth David in spirit call him Lord? saying, The Lord
said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine
enemies thy footstool. If David, then call him Lord,
how is he his son? And they weren't able to answer
him a word. He shut their mouths. He's the God-man, son of David,
son of God, son of man, son of God. As much man as if he's never
God, as much God as if he was never man. All man and all God
in one person. What a mystery. Couldn't believe
it if it wasn't in the scripture. And we sure wouldn't preach it,
but it's the truth. The scripture plainly declares
it. What an exceeding marvelous truth.
God and man in one person. The God-man. The Lord Jesus Christ. And then we read in Mark chapter
16, I'm sorry, Matthew 16. Let's let's look at this together
in contrast to the Pharisees. Matthew 16. Beginning in verse 13. When Jesus came into the coast
of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do
men say that I, the Son of Man, am? And they said, Some say thou
art John the Baptist, some Elias, others Jeremiah, or one of the
prophets. He saith unto them, But whom
say ye that I am? And Simon Peter answered and
said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. There's
that confession again. Thou art the Christ, the son
of the living God. We see that repeated over and
over in scripture. And Jesus answered and said unto
him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona, for flesh and blood
hath not revealed it unto thee, but my father, which is in heaven.
It was revealed to him. Oh, it's got to be revealed.
Man in his natural state is blind, cannot see the Christ of God
in the scripture, cannot Produce faith to believe Him, having
not seen Him. Simon Peter answered, Thou art
the Christ, the Son of the living God. And then over in John 6,
let's turn there for a minute. Beginning in verse 66. He had just stood before them
and said, No man can come unto me except it were given unto
him of my father. And from that time in verse sixty
six, many of his disciples went back and walked no more with
him. Then said Jesus under the twelve, Will you also go away?
Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? Thou hast the words of eternal
life. And here it is again. And we
believe. and are sure that thou art that
Christ, the Son of the living God." There's that confession
again. And then over in chapter 11, John
11, verse 25, Jesus said unto her, I'm the
resurrection and the life, and he that believeth in me, though
he were dead, yet shall he live. And whosoever liveth and believeth
in me shall never die. Believest thou this? She said
unto him, yea, Lord, here it is again. I believe that thou
art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world. And then you're familiar with
this, I know, over in Acts chapter eight. We have the Ethiopian eunuch where Philip
had come to him as he was looking in the scripture and preached
to him Jesus from the book of Isaiah. Down in verse 36, we
read Acts 8, 36, and as they went on their way, they came
unto a certain water and the eunuch said, See, here is water.
What doth hinder me to be baptized? And Philip said, If thou believest
with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he said, he answered and
said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God. There it is
again. a confession of who Jesus is. I believe Jesus Christ is the
son of God. And he said, Here is water. What
does hinder me to be baptized? Philip said, If thou believest
with all your heart, thou mayest. And Philip baptized him. And I go back to our text and
wonder, as I consider who is this man, Jesus, we know he's
God, God in the flesh. But what power and glory and
might and virtue must be in him that, believing, we might have
life through his name? That truly amazes me, that believing
we might have life through his name. You know, I thought of
a couple other verses that speak to this, I believe. One's found
in Job 22, verse 21. We read, acquaint now thyself
with him and be at peace. That's where you find peace,
when you're acquainted with Christ. Oh, what a Savior. Acquaint now thyself with Him
and be in peace. Where is true peace? Acquaintance
with Christ. Isaiah 45 says this, look unto
me and be saved. Look unto me and be saved. Once again, what power and glory
and might Virtue must be in him to whom we look, and by looking
to him, we're saved. And he continued on in Isaiah
45, he said, for I'm God, there's none else. There's nowhere else
to look. There's no one else to whom we
can look that can do anything for us. Only God can save and
he is God. Him alone, so I must look to
Him for my salvation. I must look to Him for the salvation
of those that I love, for there is none else. Scripture claims,
neither is there salvation in any other, for there's none other
name given under heaven whereby we must be saved. And have you ever considered
this? As I was thinking, I remembered some verses in Colossians. Colossians
119 says that it pleased the Father that in Him, that in Christ,
should all fullness dwell. And in Colossians 2, 9, it says,
for in Him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. The fullness
of the Godhead. What must that be? In this man, Christ Jesus, the
Son of God, It dwells in him, the fullness of God. And I want you to, I mean, we can't
explain that, we can't enter into that, but we can consider
some other scriptures that can enhance our wonder at this. We
read in Isaiah 57, 15, for thus saith the high and lofty one
that inhabits eternity. God inhabits eternity, eternal,
no beginning, no end. He's everywhere, in every place. We dwell in time, we're so limited,
we have no idea what eternity is, but He inhabits eternity, everlasting, without beginning
and without end. And then we read further in First
Kings 8, 27. But will God indeed dwell on
the earth? Behold, the heaven and the heaven
of heavens cannot contain thee. The fullness of the Godhead.
Oh, how big is our God and the fullness of God dwells in Christ,
a man, the man, Christ Jesus, who walked on this earth Oh my,
cannot make too much of Jesus Christ. And here's the wonder
of it. The heavens cannot contain thee
and God dwells in eternity. And yet God, all of God dwells
in this man. The God man, Jesus Christ. No
wonder scripture commands me to look to him. Believe in me. There's none beside me. No wonder scripture tells us there's life
in him, salvation's in him, all is in him. And the believer confesses
Christ is my all in all. I find in him all I need. And
then we read in Hebrews chapter nine, the efficacy and the value
of the blood that he shed for his people. It says, by his own
blood, blood of the Son of God, he entered in one time into the
holy place, having attained eternal redemption for us. You remember that scripture says,
Whatsoever God doeth, it shall be forever. He didn't just give
us a temporary stay, he obtained eternal redemption. And offered himself without spot
to God. No wonder I like this, what Martin
Luther said, quoted it many times. No wonder he said, When I look
at myself, I see no way I can ever be saved. When I look to
Christ, I see no way I can ever be lost. You find comfort in
looking to Christ. There's there's life in a look.
Look to Christ and be saved. Now, let's turn over to first,
John. First, John, chapter five. beginning in verse 11, And this is the record that God
hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
He that hath the Son hath life, and he that hath not the Son
of God hath not life. These things have I written unto
you that believe on the name of the Son of God, that you may
know that you have eternal life and that you may believe on the
name of the Son of God. What an encouragement to believers.
We have again in verse 13, we read, these things have I written. It's written. It's written. It's written unto you that you
believe on the name of the Son of God. And hear this, that you
may know there's certainty in knowing that you have eternal
life. How is it that we know that we
have eternal life? Because of who we believe. It
is Christ we believe. It is Jesus Christ, the Son of
God that we trust. I'm not looking to or trusting
my faith and how strong I believe it to be. This is life eternal, knowing
him. And look at that verse 13, I've
never noticed this before and just. Till I think it was yesterday. The first part of the verse is
repeated in the second part of the verse. I've written this
unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God, that
ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe
on the name of the Son of God." It says it again. I found that
astounding. All those of us that believe,
keep on believing, knowing that believing on Him, I have eternal
life. Why am I going to go anywhere
else? To whom else am I going to look? So the verse begins and ends
with the same as it began with. Believe on the name of the Son
of God. You see, there's no higher calling. There's nothing more than this.
Only believe. Only believe. Hopefully we've made it plain
who we believe and why we believe Him. Scripture says, Abraham
believed God was counted to him for righteousness. He that believeth
on me hath everlasting life. And then let's look at one more
thing. The cure for a troubled heart of a believer. Let's turn
to John 14. Lots of cause for a troubled
heart Life in there, lots of trouble, lots of sadness, lots
of grief, lots of pain. This is our Lord speaking, and
I love this text of scripture, John 14, verse one. Our Lord says, let not your heart
be troubled. What's the cure? You believe
in God, believe also in me. And he goes on to say, in my
father's house are many mansions. If it were not so, I would have
told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare
a place for you. I will come again and receive
you to myself. That where I am. There you may
be also. Believing. You believe in God,
believe also in me. If these things were not so,
I would have told you. You hear the tenderness in those
words. If you have any doubt, I would
have told you if these things were not so. Believe me. You can believe me, you can trust
me, God who cannot lie, God who is ever the same. So the cure
for a troubled heart of a believer is believe. He's coming again. He's gone
before us to prepare a place for us. And he's coming again
to receive us to himself, that where I am, there you may be
also. Oh, he loves us with an everlasting
love. He's made that clear. He not only said it, he proved
it by coming and dying, becoming a man, suffering our sin penalty,
became our substitute for sin, offered himself to God on our
behalf. And you all know this, but true
lasting peace in a man's soul comes only when Christ makes
himself known to our hearts and minds. And he has to do that. He has to come. and make himself
known. You know, I find myself more and more just praying, Lord,
come to me and make yourself known to my heart. Maybe a dark
hour, dark mind, a lonely time, just laying in bed
at night. Oh, Lord, come to me and make
yourself known. And he oftentimes does. He oftentimes
does. And he he does when we gather
together in times like this and we open his word and read it
together. He's promised to be here. And speak to our hearts
through his word. But that's where peace comes.
The only source of peace is when Christ makes himself known to
our hearts and minds. Again, as Job said, acquaint
now thyself with him and be at peace. Peace. And let's read together Romans
chapter 15. I want you to see this. I know you're familiar with it.
We know these things, but. We need to be reminded because
we we So many things floods our minds and it leaks out on us. We've got to be reminded. Romans
15 and verse 13, now the God of hope. Fill you with all joy
and peace in believing there it is. Peace for the believers
and believing Christ that you may abound in hope through the
power of the Holy Ghost. The life of a believer is a life
of faith. Not doing, not working, but believing
and trusting and resting. And flip over a few pages in
Romans four. In verse five. But to him that worketh not,
But believeth on him that justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted
for righteousness. There it is again. To them that believeth on him. He that believeth in first John
510, we read that a while ago, believe it says he that believeth
on the Son of God hath the witness in himself. But listen to this,
he that believeth not God hath made him a liar, because he believeth not the
record that God gave of his son. If you don't believe the record
that God gave of his son, you've made God a liar. You say, I don't know that I
can believe. Well, we read earlier that God
commands us to believe. On the name of his son, Jesus
Christ. And here he that believeth not,
we just read. That believeth not God has made
him a liar. Oh my. We must believe. We can do nothing but believe.
Who else can we believe? Who else can we trust? We must
believe. Scripture says, see that you
refuse not him that speaketh from heaven. And last of all, let me say this,
you that may be afraid. I hope all of us here are believers,
but I would venture to say there's some that are not. But you that
may be afraid that you may not be allowed to
believe in Jesus, dismiss that foolish fear. For this holy book
is written on purpose that you may believe. And therefore, it's
clear that you have full liberty to do so. Believe on the Lord
Jesus Christ and that believing you might have life through his
name. Amen. Let's go to God in prayer
before we're dismissed. War member, Brother James, our
kind, gracious, merciful Heavenly Father, we bow before you. We
thank you for our dear Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. All give
us faith. Keep us believing, keep us trusting,
keep us looking to him alone whom we must look to be saved,
to find life, to be saved. Lord, bless this word as it's
been proclaimed and the word that's been read. May it accomplish your purpose
for which you sent it. Save your people. Save the lost. Save your sheep. We know you
will in your time. Go with us as we part and go
our ways. Bring us back again at the next
appointed time to worship once again. All we. We seek to worship
you and honor you who alone is worthy. Thank you for the blessed
gospel. Thank you for our dear Savior.
Oh, how beautiful is our Savior. We remember Brother James and
his family, Lord, that you would tend to that situation and be
with them and guide them, give them grace. Deliver them, we
pray, save, intervene. Cause us all to come back and
worship once again. May we live for you as we go
out in this world and guide our steps. Keep us in the way. Honor yourself in our lives. Save our children, our grandchildren. Keep them from the world, keep
them from themselves. Save them by your grace, we pray.
We ask these things in Christ's dear, precious name. Amen. Houston. Thank you for that message, brother.
Would you come play piano for us? Let's all stand together. We'll sing hymn number 288 on
the fifth verse, halfway through. And if you don't have it written
in, call on Jesus, the Lord, ere the shadows grow dark. Oh,
believe this sweet peace so sublime. 288. Far away in the depths of my
spirit tonight rolls a melody sweeter than song. For my soul like an infinite
calm. wonderful peace coming down from
the Father above. Sweep over my spirit forever,
I pray, in balmless pillows of love. What a treasure I have
in this wonderful piece Buried deep in the heart of my soul
So secure that no power can mine it away while the years of eternity
roll. Wonderful peace coming down from
the Father above. Sweep over my spirit forever,
I pray. and bathomless pillows of love. I am resting tonight in this
wonderful peace, resting sweetly in Jesus' control. For I'm kept from by night and by day, and His
glory is flooding my soul. Peace, peace, wonderful peace,
coming down from the Father above. Sweep over my spirit forever,
I pray, in fathomless pillows of love. And methinks when I rise to that
city of peace, where the author of peace I shall see, that one
strain of us A red song we'll sing, in that heavenly kingdom
shall be. Peace, peace, wonderful peace,
coming down from the Father above. Sweep over my spirit forever,
I pray, in fathomless billows of love. Ah, soul, are you here without
comfort and rest, marching down the rough pathway of time? Call on Jesus the Lord. Call
on Jesus the Lord, e'er the shadows grow dark. O believe, O believe
this sweet peace so sublime. Peace, peace, wonderful peace,
coming down from the Father above. Sweep over my spirit forever,
I pray, in fathomless pillows of love. There'll be no evening service
and no Wednesday service. We'll meet again next Sunday
morning, Lord will, and our pastor will be back. I'll be gone, but
Brother Judd has graciously agreed to lead the singing next week
for you. Sing strong. Remember that passage of scripture
we open service with. Let's try to remember that every
time we sing. Let's sing his praises. Sing from our hearts. Let's remember the blessed word
we heard today.
