176. 176. Break thou the bread of life,
dear Lord, to me, As thou didst break the loaves beside the Be on the sacred page, I seek
Thee, Lord. My spirit pents for Thee, O living
Word. Bless Thou the truth, dear Lord,
To me, to me. As thou didst bless the bread
by Galilee, Then shall all bondage cease, all fetters fall, And I shall find my peace, my
all in all. Thou art the bread of life, O
Lord, to me. Thy holy word, the truth, that
saveth me. Give me to eat and live with
Thee above. Teach me to love Thy truth for
Thou art love. O send Thy Spirit, Lord, now
unto me, that He may touch my eyes and make me see. Show me the truth concealed within
Thy Word, and in Thy book revealed I see the truth. Our chapter 15. I started first 22 and read down
to. First, 36. And when they bring him unto
the place of Golgotha, which is being interpreted the place
of a skull, they give him to drink wine mingled with myrrh,
but he received it not. They gave him to drink, and when
they had crucified him, they parted his garments, cast lots
upon them, and whatever man should take, And it was the third hour,
and they crucified him. It's nine o'clock in the morning.
And the superscription of his accusation was written over the
king of the Jews. That's what they crucified, was
a crime that he was accused of. And with him, they crucified
two thieves, the one on his right hand, the other on his left.
And the scripture was fulfilled. was saith, and he was numbered
with the transgressors. And they that passed by railed
on him, wagging their heads, and saying, Ah, thou that destroyest
the temple, and buildest it in three days, save thyself, and
come down from the cross. Likewise also said the chief
priests, mocking, said among themselves with the scribes,
He saved others, himself he cannot save. Let Christ, the King of
Israel, descend now from the cross, that we may see and believe. And they that were crucified
with him reviled him. And when the sixth hour, three
o'clock in the afternoon, they'd been doing this for three hours,
mocking our Lord, three hours. And when the sixth hour was come,
noon, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth
hour. And at the ninth hour, Jesus
cried and said with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lasabachthanai,
which is being interpreted, my God, my God, why hast thou forsaken
me? And some of them that stood by,
when they heard it, saith, Behold, he calleth Elias. And one ran,
and spilled a sponge full of vinegar, and put it on a reed,
and gave it to drink, saying, Let alone let us see whether
Elijah will come to take him down. Our blessed Father in heaven,
our glorious, glorious, blessed God and Father of our Redeemer,
our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. Father, we read these things
and they touch our heart. They make us so thankful, so
blessed by you that you'd put your Son through these things to save such sinners, such rebels,
such God-haters, people so sinful, so helpless, with no ability
to save ever save themselves or make themselves approved before
you. The Lord, you put your son to shame, humiliated him, And
all of us, Lord, were involved in that. We were involved in
his humiliation, involved in his cruelty, mistreatment, cursing,
making fun of, trusting ourselves. Oh, Lord. Oh, how thankful, how thankful.
Oh, God, grateful from the depth of our soul for what you've done
for us. And we see it here so plainly,
so clearly. So, Lord, I pray that you'd cause
the gospel to run well here today, that you'd bless it to our hearts,
bless it to our mind, bless it to our understanding. You'd bless
it to the salvation of those who've never been saved. never
seen Christ, never seen their need of Christ. And if there
has been someone seen their need of Christ, I pray you give them
grace to confess him, own him, acknowledge him, identify with
him. And Lord, we pray for our families. Oh, Lord, our families have no
need of Christ. But Lord, we ask for you to go
You go by the Holy Spirit. Convince them of their sin. Convince
them of their need of Christ. Convince them of how helpless
and hopeless they are in this world. And, oh, Lord, bring them
to Christ. Bring them to their need. Bring
them to see how desperately, desperately they need to be saved
by God's blessed grace, washed from their sins by the blood
of Christ our Lord. Be with us today, I pray again,
and for those that among us that are weak, those among us that
are sick, are not with us through your providence or through weakness
of body, we pray for them. Lord, we know you restore them
according to your will and to your glory. For Christ's sake,
we pray these things. Amen. I'll stand together again. We'll
sing the hymn in the bulletin. Oh, Lamb of God, still keep Me,
near to thy wounded side, Tis only there in safety and peace
I can abide. What foes and snares surround
me, What lusts and fears within, The grace that sought and found
me alone can keep me clean. Is only in thee hiding, I know
my life secure. Only in Thee abiding I steadfast
shall endure. Thine arm the victory gaveth
o'er every hurtful foe. Thy love my heart sustaineth
In all its care and woe. Soon shall my eyes behold thee
With rapture face to face, A half hath not been told me of all
thy power and grace. Thy beauty, Lord, and glory,
the wonders of Thy love, shall be the endless story of all Thy
saints above. Sweet spirit, sweet spirit, over
my soul. Sweet spirit, sweet spirit, over
my soul. sweet for my soul. My joy is complete when I sit
at His feet. Sweet, sweet Spirit, sweet for
my soul. I want you to look back here
with me in Mark chapter 15. I'm going to look at one verse of
scripture out of these. And that's at verse 34. Verse 34. At the ninth hour. It's been
dark now for three hours. and dark. I don't know how dark it was,
but it says darkness. Down in Egypt, when God came
through to bring his children of Israel out and slew all the
firstborn and they killed the Passover lamb, it says there
was a darkness that was felt. A darkness, it was so dark that
they felt it. They felt it. Here was a darkness
over the whole land until the ninth hour. And at the ninth
hour, Jesus cried with a loud voice, how could this man, so
beaten and so bloody, his ribs are showing, ribs are showing,
blood's all over him. Blood's all over him. He is so
bloody. Crown of thorns still on his
head. Bleeding from his hands and his feet. Bleeding from that spear in his
side. Bleeding. Oh, he's so bloody. He was so bloody. This picture
of Wild Bill Hickok that you've seen, that's not him. Our Lord was a bloody, bloody
mess. But still yet, he showed his
power, showed his ability, showed that he could still control his
own life and control things around him. And look, he said he cried
with a loud voice. Loud. Had it been me, I couldn't
even spoke. But he cried with a loud voice.
Two times he cried with a loud voice. That here, when he cried
with a loud voice, it is finished, but he cried with a loud voice.
Everybody could hear that, all these people that tormented him
for three hours. It got dark, they couldn't see.
Son, whatever the light, come back. And our Lord cried with
a loud voice, Eloi, Eloi. That's God's name. La-ma-sa-bac-tha-ni,
which is being interpreted, my God, my God, why hast thou forsaken
me? You know, here our Lord's left
alone without God to help him. or God
his father wouldn't even look his way. Our Lord's in the last
moments of his life, of his very life. He cries out after three
hours of darkness, three hours of darkness. Our Lord was deserted
by his disciples, betrayed by Judas, Forsaken by his father,
forsaken of everyone around him, no one to help him, left alone. Three hours of darkness, and
he cried with a loud voice. When it says there were three
hours of darkness, I want to look at that too, 33 and 34.
This shows us the darkness of the human heart. You think, man,
some people think they got something good about them, but the human
heart is so dark. Oh, the darkness of the human
heart. The depravity, how dark. Men
love darkness. Our Lord said men love darkness
rather than light. Loved it, loved it. Loved it. Oh, the light shines
in darkness. And then there's a moral darkness
of the human heart. You hear about people that are
moral. There's men that's good husbands, good fathers, good
workers, but they got no morality. They're lovers of their selves
more than lovers of God, lovers of pleasure. No, there's moral
darkness. and especially moral darkness
in this age, when men with men, women with women, people changing
their identities. Oh, the moral darkness. The moral
darkness of everything and everybody in this world. People talk about
morality. Oh, there's no morality. I mean,
men are lovers of their selves. Moral darkness. And then the
spiritual darkness. Oh, the spiritual darkness. You know, our Lord says, the
light, if the light in, you know, the eye is the light of life.
This eye is where you see things. And he said, if the light in
you, if the light in you, the spiritual light in you be darkness,
how great is that darkness? Give you an illustration. The
apostle Paul, when he was Saul of Tartarus, He was born in sin
and darkness like everybody else. And then he became a Pharisee
of Pharisees. So he was in spiritual darkness. He was in double darkness. He
was in the darkness of his natural heart and in the darkness of
religious darkness, a Pharisee. And then when he was in that
Phariseeism, that was spiritual darkness. And how many people
have spiritual darkness? How many preachers are in spiritual
darkness? How many people are in spiritual
darkness? How many people are in darkness
about sin? How many people are in darkness
about God? How many people are in darkness
about the natural state of a man? Spiritual darkness. And oh, if
that darkness, that light in you be darkness, how dark is
it? And then, beloved, there's intellectual darkness. You know,
they take their wisdom and their philosophy. They have this intellectual darkness.
I'm too smart. I'm too well-educated. I'm a
PhD. I'm too wise to need a God. I'm too wise to need, I'm not
gonna, I'm too wise to need to read the Bible. I'm too wise.
I can tell you something happened 14 million years ago, but I am
too smart to understand and believe God Almighty. I can tell you
something happened 4 million years ago, but I'm too smart. I'm too wise, oh my. And how dark must the heart be
to do what it did to our Lord Jesus Christ. How dark it must
have been. And I'm telling you something.
I'll tell you something right now. If I'd have been there,
I'd have been in that crowd mocking him, I would have been there.
I would have been there. You say, I wouldn't. Yes, you
would. If you know anything about yourself, you know good and well
you'd have been there. You'd have wagged your head at
him. You would have mocked him. You would have made fun of him.
I know I would have. If any of the rest of you wouldn't,
I would have. I know what I am, and I know
what I did to the Lord Jesus Christ. I know how I mistreated
him. I know how I talked about him. I know how I used his name
in vain. I'd have been right there. Oh,
my. I would have mistreated him and
abused him, but how dark is the human heart that would mistreat
somebody so just, somebody so holy, somebody so righteous,
a just man. And oh my, they said, they traded
a murderer, a murderer. They'd rather have a murderer
than the Lord Jesus Christ. They'd rather have somebody that
committed murder that was cruel, mean, and take another person's
life and rather have him. And that's the way the human
art is. That's how dark it is. Take anybody but Christ. Oh, my. Oh, a trait of murder
in his place. You know, he was delivered by
the determined counsel. But you, he said, you with wicked
hands have taken and crucified the just one, the just one. Oh, Mark, and look over in Matthew
16. I'm going to show you something just about how men are. I can't, I can't describe. I cannot describe. I don't have
the words. I don't have the ability. Talk
about how dark, how cruel the human heart is. But I do, and another thing I
know about it is deceitful. I do know that it's deceitful.
But look what I said here in Matthew 16 verse 21. And from that time, Fourth, began
Jesus to show unto his disciples how that he must go unto Jerusalem
and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and
scribes, and listen to this, and be killed and be raised again
the third day. Hear what I'm talking about.
This is an apostle now. Then Peter took him and began
to rebuke him. I mean, this is apostle. And began to rebuke the Lord
Jesus Christ. Saying, Be it far from thee,
Lord, this shall not be unto thee. But he turned, and you
know what he said to Peter? He said, Satan's got a hold of
you. Satan's enticed you. Satan's
blinded your mind. Satan's darkened your heart.
You get behind me. You get behind me. Oh my. Let's put emphasis, if I can,
back over in Mark, on every word here, every word in this verse. Our Lord said, there in verse 34, he says, my God,
my God. Let's look at this word, thou,
thou, my God. Why has you forsaken me? Me. Why do you forsaken me? This, this was the bitter cup
that he drank. I think this was the bitterest
cup that he drank, was being forsaken of his father, being
forsaken of his God. He said, forsake me, forsaken
me. the one who was daily your delight,
the one that was with you from the beginning, the son of your
love, the one you said, this is my beloved son and whom I'm
well pleased, your eternal son that was with you from all eternity,
that left your bosom and came to this earth. Your innocent
son, your harmless son, your well-beloved son, why have
you forsaken me? And look at him in his deserted
state, coming out of this darkness. What does he do? He still turns
to his God. No matter what's going on, he
turns to his God. He still turns to his God, coming
out of darkness. He's on that cross. Oh, God,
he still turned. My God, my God. He had left him
to his enemies. No angels came to help him. The people are mocking him. making fun of him, ridiculing
him, spit still on his face, blood's all around him, and the
people are marking him. When all of this mistreatment
was going on, he never uttered a word, didn't say a word while
they was doing this. No complaints, he never complained
about how he was treated. Not a word about how he was treated. But boy, we don't nobody mistreat
us. Don't nobody talk about us. Don't
nobody say anything ugly about us. Don't nobody mistreat us. We'll complain and complain and
complain and complain. Not our Lord. No complaint as
how he was mistreated. He had had his father's love
all the time while he is on this earth. Our Lord spoke about him
three times. And him and his father had conversation
after conversation. Our Lord conversed with his father
all night one night. And always father manifest his
love to his son all the time while he is on this earth. Our Lord said, I and my father
are one. He had his father's presence from all eternity and all the time while he had
his love. But now But now the presence
and power of the love of God, God's love never forsaken us.
But the presence and power of his love is no longer present
to our Lord Jesus Christ. Oh my, instead of the love of
God, he has the wrath of God on him. And the wrath of God's
begin to be poured out on him And no wonder he cries out from
the cross, my God, my God. But he did turn to his God. You
know, when we turn to God more than any other time, when the
world's dark to us, when our hearts are dark, when our minds
are dark, when we're in trouble, when we're in ill health, when
something's wrong, That's when we'll really cry out to God.
Oh my. And though deserted, though deserted,
our Lord does not let go of his God. He says, my God, my God. Still won't let go of God. Still
cries out to God. Oh my. He believes that God is
still his God. Even in this situation. When
that Eli, Eli there means Eloi, Eloi, that means, you know what
that means? That's addressing God as he is.
And those two words there means my strong one, my mighty one. When he said Eloi, Eloi, my strong
one, my mighty one. That's what he's talking about.
That's what he says to you. And that other words means you've
forsaken me. You've forsaken me. Then, oh, if this is one thing
we need to see right here, by His cry, my God, my God, you
know what I see here? The absolute, absolute holiness and
justice of God Almighty. Wherever God finds sin, it has
to be punished. It has to be punished. And now
I'll tell you what, God is holy. And I say there's four ways,
four ways we need to view the cross, four different ways we
need to view the cross. First of all, man, man's view
of the cross. When our Lord was on that cross,
man did a work. Man did a work. When they got
a hold of the Lord Jesus Christ, when they said, we'll not have
this man to reign over us, man did a work and they took him
to Golgotha and nailed him to a cross. Man's depravity, man's
sinfulness is at its greatest display right here. Oh, man done
a work there. Man done a work there. And oh,
no wonder our Lord said, with wicked hands, you've crucified
it. It was hands that nailed him
to a tree. It was hands that nailed his
feet to a tree. It was man's hands that slapped
him. It was man's hands that put a
crown on his head. It was what man did to him when
they had an opportunity. Oh, then Satan, he did a work.
He revealed His enmity to the woman's seed here on this cross.
Our Lord, the first prophecy of the Bible, Genesis 3.15 said,
I'll put enmity between thy seed, talking about Satan, and the
seed of the woman. I'm going to put it, and this
is what's happening right here. Our Lord said, Satan cometh and
he has no part in me. He did a work. He revealed his
enmity to the woman's seed by bruising his heel. I want you
to look something at with Revelations chapter 12. Look at something about how that
Christ, Revelations chapter 12. I want to show you something
here. All about Satan doing a work. And all he was destroyed here,
every bit of his power was destroyed here. It says in verse two, and she
being with child cried, surveilling in birth and pain to be delivered. And there appeared, Revelations
12, two, and there appeared another wonder in heaven. Behold, a great
red dragon having seven heads and ten horns and seven crowns
upon his head. And his tail drew the third part
of the stars from heaven, did cast him to the earth. And this
is what I want you to see. And the dragon stood before the
woman, which was ready to be delivered, listen to this, for
did to bower her child as soon as it was born. And she brought
forth a man-child. I mean, as quick as Christ was
born, Satan went to work. Satan went to work. Satan went to work. And then
third way to view the cross is the Lord Jesus Christ did a work.
Oh, and what a work he did. What a work our Lord did here.
Our Lord, he said, Father, you gave me a work to do. He said,
glorify me with the glory that I had with you before the world,
for I finished the work that you sent me to do. The Lord Jesus
did a work. His whole life was His work,
and it all culminated right here. And what He was doing was He
was dying the just, the just one for the unjust. And oh, my,
that He might bring us to God. The first work that He did in
His life and on this cross was He was fulfilling the law. You
know what it is to fulfill the law? I'm talking about cursed
is everyone that hangeth on a tree. Cursed, cursed is the man that
continueth all things written in the book of the law to do
them. Well, our Lord Jesus Christ, this day on the cross, he's fulfilling
that law. Listen, he said, love God. We
didn't. Love your neighbor. We didn't.
Well, how in the world are we? How are we going to fulfill the
law? How are we going to do it? Christ
fulfilled it for us. He answered every, when He was
put on that cross, He was made there to be a curse. He was made there under the law, and when that law come to execute
death on me and you, and the law, it says, It has to, people
that want these 10 commandments, I never understood that. I never
understood why anybody would even consider, consider for a
moment. You know why they was made of
stone? Because they were so hard. They were so hard. So tough. I read a little article
this morning about Moses. The law coming banged on a man's
heart and made his door shake. Moses in the law with his commandments
came and he trembled. He wouldn't open the door because
Moses couldn't do anything for him. And the Lord Jesus come
alone from the cross. Gently, gently, gently tapped. And he opened the door to the
Lord Jesus Christ and said, oh, and bowed down before him, bowed
down before him. And I tell you, Moses, you know
why Moses didn't go into the promised land? He got to go up
and look at it, but he couldn't go in. You know why he couldn't
go in? Because the law can't take nobody
into the promised land. The law can't take nobody. It
can show you what pretty it is, but it can't take you there.
Can't take you there. And I'll tell you the second
work our Lord did while he was on this cross is a work of substitution. Bless his holy name. He was there
not for himself. Oh, Pilate said, this man's done
nothing amiss. I find no fault in him. But he
was there as a substitute. And you know what a substitute
is? That means taking somebody else's place. And our Lord took
our place before God, before God's holiness, before God's
righteousness, before God's holiness, before the law. He took our place. He was a substitute. The Lord
laid on him the iniquity of us all, bruised for our transgressions. wounded for our iniquities. Oh,
he was there. And I tell you what, instead
of me having to face God, Christ said, I'll do it. Instead of
me having to die for my sin, Christ said, I'll do it. Instead
of me being made a curse and separated from God forever, Christ
was separated from God. Oh, as a work of substitution.
And this is the most blessed thing to me, always has been. His work was a work of satisfaction. Satisfaction. Oh, bless the Lord. I could never, ever do anything
to satisfy God. I couldn't satisfy His holiness.
I couldn't satisfy the law. Nothing in my flesh dwells, could
go a good thing in my flesh. I could never do anything to
satisfy God's holiness, righteousness, and justice, his law. But our
Lord Jesus Christ, God saw, saw the travail of his soul and said,
I'm satisfied. God's satisfied with him, satisfied
with his work. Satisfied with his life, satisfied
with his death, satisfied with his burial, satisfied with his
resurrection. How do we know? Because he raised
him from the dead, set him at his own right hand with all power
and majesty and glory. Now, I'll tell you what, I'm not never, listen, God's
satisfied with me. How can he be satisfied with
me? Because Christ satisfied Him for me. Law can't do nothing against
me. You know why? Christ satisfied His justice. God's holiness can't come against
me. Christ satisfied it. The sins of death can't come
against me. Because Christ satisfied it. What a pillar, what a pillar
to go into eternity with, that satisfaction of Christ of all
that he ever did. I think satisfaction is the most
precious thing that he did. And then fourth thing is God
did a work there. God did a work there. You know
what he did? He shook him and put him there.
He was delivered by the determinate counsel of God. God made him
to be seen, who knew no sin. God made him a curse. God did this to his own son. He spared not his own son, but
delivered him up for us all. Oh, my. God is so holy. I hope I'm not taking too long.
God is so holy, no man can see him and live. No man's at any
time ever seen God and lived. Even Moses, God had to put him
in a rock. The heaven, the scriptures tells
us the heavens is not pure in his eyes. The heavens not pure in his eyes. The seraphims cover their face
in his presence and cry, holy, holy, holy, holy is the Lord. Abraham, when God come to him,
made him a promise. You know what he said before
God? He said, I'm but dust and ashes. Just dust and ashes? Oh, my. Job spoke of him when he saw
him. And he said, I abhor myself. Now people go, give Jesus. never hand-clapped. Oh, now,
let's give Jesus a big praise offering. I abhor myself. I abhor myself. In the sight
of God Almighty, I abhor myself. Oh, my. When Isaiah saw his glory,
you know what he said? God so holy, he said, Woe, woe,
woe is me. Woe is me. He's of pure eyes and to behold
iniquity. He is so holy that when his son
had our sin laid upon him, when his soul was made an offering
for sin, God turned his face away. Look in Psalm 22. Look
in Psalm 22. There's a reason for this. God is so holy and so just that
when his son had our sin laid upon him, made him a soul offering,
sin offering, he turned his face away. Look in verse 1. I, Lord, just
repeating what? All the scriptures, fulfilling
the scriptures. My God, my God, why hast thou
forsaken me? Why art thou so far from helping
me? Why are you so far from helping
me? And from the words of my roaring, his heart was roaring. And oh, my God. I cry in the
daytime, and you didn't hear me. And in the night season,
and I'm not silent, but here's the answer. But you're holy. You are holy. Thou that inhabitest
the praises of Israel. Our fathers trusted in you. They
trusted in you, saved them. They cried unto thee and were
delivered. They trusted in thee and were
not confused, not confounded. And it's almost, I just almost
afraid to say these words right here. If it wasn't in the Bible,
I wouldn't possibly do it. I couldn't possibly say this.
But this is what our Lord said about himself. But I am a worm. I am a worm. And know me, a reproach of men and despised. God called Jacob a worm, calls
us a worm. Tells us he's so identified with
us. I'm a worm. I could not possibly say that
without it being in the Bible. You know, our God, he overthrew
the old world with a flood, solemn memorial with fire and brimstone.
He set plagues upon Egypt, found them in the Red Sea, gave Israel
fire by night, cloud by day. But here at the cross, God hid
his face. from the presence of His own
Son. And here we see also the reason for Gethsemane. Go back over here in chapter
14. We see here the reason why our
Lord went through what He went through in Gethsemane. Verse 32, and they came to a place which was
named Gethsemane. And he saith to his disciples,
set ye here while I pray. And he taketh Peter, James, and
John, and to be sore amazed. Oh, he was just, heart was so
troubled, and to be very heavy. Oh, he's so heavy, the weight
on him was so heavy. And he saith unto them, told
his disciples this, told them this, Peter, James, and John. He said, my soul is exceeding
sorrowful unto death, unto death. Terry, stay here and watch for
me. And he went forward a little
and fell on the ground and prayed, fell flat. Oh, God, he said,
if it be possible that the hour might pass for me. And he said,
Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee. Take away
this cup from me. Nevertheless, not what I will,
but what thou wilt. And then down in verse 39, and
again, he went away and prayed and spake the same words. Here
we see, he sees what's coming to him. And I want you to look
with me over in Luke chapter 22. Look in Luke 22. This is,
this is, I'm not trying to make anybody
feel sorry for the Lord Jesus Christ. I'm not. I'm not trying
to do that at all. I'm just trying to tell us how
awful we are, what a great work was done on the cross, and how
God is holy and righteous and just. Look in verse 44 and 45. And being in agony, he prayed
more earnestly. And his sweat, where he was so
in agony, his sweat was as it were, great drops of blood falling
down. Now that blood right there never
put away a sin. That blood that he Went out,
never put away a sin. Never did. But now watch this. And when he rose up from prayer,
he found them sleeping, sleeping for sorrow. Oh, my. Being in agony, he prayed. That's
why we see Gethsemane, why we see Gethsemane. That's what happened. He's seen this coming, and he's
got this cup. Taking this cup, he said, Father,
if it be possible, if it be possible, and all things are possible unto
you, Disciples asked him one time,
and he said, oh, my, it's easier for a rich man to go through
the eye of a needle than for a rich man to be saved. He said,
Lord, if it's hard and scarce for a rich man to be saved, how
can we, how can anybody be saved? He said, with God, it's impossible. I mean, with man, it's impossible.
But with God, all things are possible. You know, we take the
cup in communion. a little piece of bread to eat
it, a cup of wine. We take the cup in communion,
showing our Lord's death until he come. But I tell you, he took
a cup, a cup of God's wrath, a cup of sin, dregs, the dregs
of humanity. And he took it, and he drunk
it. And then last of all, last of all, we see the foundation
of our salvation. What a great, solid foundation
we have. You know why? He was forsaken
of God, so we will never be forsaken. He bore our sin, you know why?
So we'll never have to bear it. God shall call his name Jesus,
for she shall save his people from their sins. Oh my, he upheld
God's law so that we can say there is therefore now no condemnation
to them that are in Christ Jesus. He satisfied God, so the travail of his soul was satisfied. Now we are accepted in the beloved. God made him to be sinned who
knew no sin. You know why he did that? Christ might be made unto us
righteousness, not just righteousness, the righteousness of God. Who
can stand God's indignation? Who can stand in the fierceness
of His angst? I've got an answer for you, Psalm
89, and then I'm done. Psalm 89. Oh, my. Who can stand God's indignation?
Stand God's wrath. God, I got an answer for you.
Oh my, who can stand in his fierce anger and bear it? I got an answer. Our Lord Jesus Christ, our glorious
Savior. It says here in verse 19, Psalm
89. Then thou spakest in vision to
thy holy one, and said, I have laid help upon one that is mighty. I have exalted one chosen out
of the people. Lay it on. Mighty enough to carry. Oh, what a Savior. Hallelujah,
what a Savior. Savior, what a Savior. What a
Savior. Our blessed, blessed Savior. And to thank you did it out of love, out of love for your people,
love for your father, love for the scriptures, love for the
word of God, love for your people. Oh, you loved us with an everlasting
love. And you came. Oh, bless your
name. Bless your holy name. Oh. Oh, Lord. Oh, Lord. Oh, Lord. Oh, Lord. Thank you, Lord. It's our time together this afternoon. How could not we love you? Thank you, Lord. Amen. Now let's sing 118. 118, let's stand together and then. When I survey the wondrous cross,
On which the Prince of Glory died, My richest gain I count
but loss. And pour contempt on all my pride. Forbid it, Lord, that I should
boast, Save in the death of Christ my God. All the vain things that charm
me most, I sacrifice them to His blood. See from His head, His hands,
His feet. Sorrow and love flow me, go down. Did e'er such love and sorrow
meet, Or thorns compose so rich a crown? Were the whole realm
of nature mine, That were a presence far? Love so amazing, so divine, demands
my soul, my life, my all. Amen. See you Wednesday night,
God willing.
