this is my song Praising my Savior all the day long. Perfect submission, perfect delight,
Visions of rapture now burst on my sight. Angels descending, ring from
above. Angels of mercy, whispers of
love. This is my story, this is my
song. Praising my Savior all the day
long. This is my story, this is my
song. Praising my Savior all the day
long. Perfect submission, all is at

above Filled with His goodness, lost in His love This is my story,
this is my song Romans 5, finish up a message
you started last week. Romans 5, read the first 11 verses and
pick up, make a few comments and pick up where we left off
last week. Also, Cody Henson's mother, Carla, having brain surgery
today, found a mass in her brain. They're doing, they may be finished
by now, but they're doing brain surgery on her today, and she
had cancer in her lungs, and, where else? Lungs, but it's, and Cody's up
there with her and her brother, so. That's a pretty serious operation,
so y'all remember her and remember Cody. He'll be here preaching
for you next Sunday. Said he'd be sure to be here. Romans 5. Therefore, being justified
by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. by whom also we have access by
faith into this grace wherein we stand and rejoice in hope
of the glory of God. And not only that glory and rejoice
in hope of the glory of God, but we glory in our tribulations,
our trials, our troubles, knowing that tribulation works patience,
endures, and patience experience, and experience gives us hope
and the hope that never makes us shamed, because the love of
God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given
unto us. When we were yet without strength
in due time, Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for
a righteous man will one die, yet perventure for a good man
some would even dare to die. But God commendeth His love toward
us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us,
much more than being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved
from wrath through him. For if when we were enemies,
we were reconciled to God by the death of his son, much more
being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. And not only
so, but we joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom
we have now received the atonement. Oh Lord, we bow our hearts in
your holy presence. We come, oh Lord, just waiting
for you to fill us. We're empty so we need your filling
presence. We're weak and we need your strength. We bring nothing but the Lord
Jesus Christ and his blood, his righteousness, his merit, his
worth. And Lord, we only stand here
in him, stand before you in him, through him, because of him.
And Lord, we ask for your presence in this service tonight. Ask
that you'd please be, come among us and enable us to speak, enable
the saints to hear. And Lord, we pray for those who
are not with us through providence tonight, maybe sickness, maybe
affliction, maybe weakness, whatever the, need be, Lord, we pray for
them that you'd give them an abundance of grace. And Lord,
we do pray for Carla and her family. Lord, as she's going
through, it'd be a very frightening, troubling thing to have to go
through this. And we pray that you'd give them
grace and that you'd strengthen them. We know that you'll uphold
them, but Lord, that's why we pray for them. that you'd do
it. And Lord, they have great, great,
great needs. Please meet their needs. And
Lord, if it would please you that she could be healed from
this, we'd bless you and praise you. And Lord, please meet our
needs. And as Cody comes to preach next
Sunday, God be with him. Lord, bless him, liberate him.
Bless the congregation to be here and support him. Lord, forgive
us of everything that's unlike you. Save our loved ones and
have mercy on them for Christ's sake. Amen. Amen. M number 235. 235. ? Pass me not, O gentle Savior

do not pass me by. of the spring of all my comfort,
Lord, and life to me. Who have I on earth beside Thee? Whom in heaven but Thee? Savior, Savior, hear my feeble
cry. Do not pass me by. You remember last week we dealt
with the first five verses, talking about the justified security.
And you know, as far as our past goes, it says it was already
justified, justified by faith. And we have peace with God. We
have God establish peace through the blood of our cross, of our
Lord Jesus Christ. And it s by Christ we also have
ACCESS by faith into grace. We stand in grace. We re saved
by grace, rejoiced in grace, thankful for grace, saved by
grace, kept by grace, be carried home by grace. And I ll tell
you in our experience, in our experience shows us this, that
we have tribulations. We have tribulations. And these
tribulations will never, ever stop our justification, keep
God from blessing us. And we have these trials, these
troubles in this life. We sang that song, you know,
Heal My Wounded Broken Spirit. Even us believers sometimes get
wounded. Our spirits get broken, our hearts
get broken. WE GET HEAVY HEARTED, AND THE
ONLY PLACE WE CAN GO LORD, PAST ME NOT, OH GOD HELP ME, AND THAT'S
WHAT WE'RE TALKING ABOUT. WE HAVE THESE TRIBULATIONS, THESE
TROUBLES, THESE TRIALS, AND THAT TRIBULATION SHOWS US, IT CAUSES
US TO ENDURE HARDNESS, AND IT GIVES US GREAT PATIENCE, AND
THAT TRIBULATION CAUSES US TO ENDURE HARDNESS, ENDURE TRIALS,
ENDURE THESE THINGS, AND THAT ENDURANCE CAUSES PATIENCE. patience. We wait, wait, wait, and continue
to endure, and that patience gives us EXPERIENCE. We have
BEEN through these things before, we'll GO through them again,
and it'll ALWAYS be that way, and this EXPERIENCE that God
with His tribulations, these EXPERIENCES and our justification,
all them things gives us a HOPE! A blessed hope, a glorious hope,
and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. We're going to
see Christ in His glory and we're going to be just like Him in
glory. But this hope that we have, that we got through this
experience and all these things that I've talked about, it can
never make us ashamed. We'll never be brought to shame.
Why? This hope can never make us ashamed
because the love of God, God's blessed love, that love that
He loved us with, an everlasting love, God's blessed love is shed
abroad, I mean poured out, poured into our hearts by the Holy Ghost! The Spirit of God did this for
us! And it's given unto us, the Holy Ghost of God, the Spirit
of God is given unto us. And so I want to tell you, we'll
not be confounded. We'll not be brought to shame
over our love and our hope that we have in Christ. And hope,
as I said, always has to do with the future. Hope always has to
do with the future. Always has to do with the future.
And oh my, then he goes on about God's love here. Look at God's
love, and I tell you, this CONFIRMS our hope. We have this blessed
hope, this hope we have, this hope of glory in God. And God's
love CONFIRMS our hope and shows us our justification. Verse 6,
For when we were yet without strength in due time, Christ
died for the ungodly. God's love IS REVEALED TO US,
MANIFESTED TO US, AND WE SEE IT, CLEARLY SEE IT IN THAT LOVE
OF GOD THAT SHED ABROAD IN OUR HEARTS. HOW DO WE KNOW THE LOVE
OF GOD SHED ABROAD IN OUR HEARTS? BECAUSE WHEN WE DIDN'T HAVE ANY
STRENGTH, WHEN WE WERE IMPOTENT, WHEN WE HAD NO POWER, WHEN WE
HAD NO RIGHTS, WHEN WE HAD NO ABILITY, WHEN WE HAD NOTHING,
CHRIST When we were without strength, nothing, nothing, Christ died
for the ungodly. Oh, my. And this is what was
shed abroad in our hearts. You know, look over with me in
John chapter 5. You know, this is God gave His
Son. Christ died for the ungodly. God gave His blessed Son. Look
in John chapter 5. I'll show you, this is a perfect
illustration of what we're talking about here in John chapter 5.
Look down in verse 2. Christ died, but oh, who did
He die for? People that had no strength,
people that had nothing, they were utterly impotent, nothing,
no ability for the ungodly without hope, without Christ. We were
repulsive, but look what He said here in John chapter 5 and verse
2. Now there is at Jerusalem by
the sheep market, where they sold sheep, a pool, a pool, a
water pool there, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda,
having five porches. And I tell you, and these lay
a great multitude, listen to this, impotent folks, blind people,
halt people, withered people waiting for that water, somebody
to come stir up that water. For an angel went down at a certain
season into the pool, and troubled the water, made the water move,
or whatever he did. And then whoever first, after
the troubling of the water, stepped in, was made whole of whatever
disease he had. And a certain man was there which
had an infirmity thirty-eight years, laid there thirty-eight years. And when Jesus saw him lying
there, knew that he had been now a long time, and he saith
unto him, Wilt thou be made whole? Will ye be made whole? Now, all
these people are impotent. They can t do nothing for themselves.
And the impotent man, that's what he talking about, the man
that had no strength, the man had no ability, the man who couldn't
do nothing to help himself. The impotent man answers, sir,
I have no man, no man care for my soul, no man care for the
condition I was in. I have no man when the water
is troubled to put me into the pool, but while I'm coming, another
step is down before me. This is what our Lord said. But Jesus saith unto him, rise
up, take up your bed and walk. And immediately the man was made
whole, took up his bed and walked on the Sabbath day. Oh my, that's
the kind of people we're talking about. That's the kind of people
Christ died for. People with no strength. There ain't even no water to
be troubled around here. So Christ has to do it. And then
back over in our text, he said for the ungodly. That means without
God, without hope, without Christ, being repulsive. Man, I tell
you, man lives as if God doesn't exist. They actually live, my
family lives as if God doesn't exist. My children, everybody
I know just about lives as if God doesn't exist. And then when
they DO say anything about Him, they acknowledge Him, and when
they acknowledge Him, they do it in a dishonoring, repulsive,
and they have false concepts, make fun of Him, ridicule Him,
call Him a monster because He's a sovereign God and save whom
He will. But oh, God said, You thought
I was altogether one like unto you, but I'm not! I'm not like you, and I thank
God He's not like us. I thank God he's not. And then
look what it says. And for when he was yet without
strength, in verse six, in due time, what does that mean? In
the fullness of time, right when he is supposed to come. He came
into this world and knowing who he is coming for, he come to
die for the ungodly, for people without strength. And oh my,
he come right on time, in the fullness of time, according to
the time, at the appointed time. And Christ came, and oh, the
love of God. And look what he said here in
verse seven and eight. And I think Paul is just using
this as an illustration to show us how that there is none righteous,
no, not one, there's none that doeth good. He said, So Christ
died for us in due time when we were without strength, died
for the ungodly. He said SCARCELY, SCARCELY for
a righteous man will one die. Why would a righteous man need
to be, you know, what would it accomplish to die for a righteous
man? It couldn t save him, he s already
righteous. And then he said, Maybe, maybe,
that word perventure means maybe, for a good man some would even
DARE to die. but dare to die. But oh my, oh
my, something, you know, there's some people that they have something
about them that draws out love towards them. And he said, if
it happens, it's scarce, very scarce. And there's just maybe,
maybe it might happen. But didn't look what he says.
But God, but God, we're not talking about righteous men, not talking
about good men. But God commendeth his love toward
us. Bless his name. Commendeth his
love toward us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died
for us. That's not a righteous man. Christ
didn't die for the righteous. He said, and I come to call the
righteous. I come to call sinners. I come to seek and to save that
which is lost, and oh, my! And all these people that talk
about good and righteous and good, and somebody might die
for them one of these days, but that s not the way God died!
That s not the way Christ died! That s not whom Christ died for!
Oh, no, no! Isn t that why we were yet sinners? Paul said this, he said, Oh,
God showed His mercy, oh, the mercy of God, the abundant mercy
of God, that I m a pattern, I m a pattern of what Christ does for sinners.
I was the chief of sinners, but God in His mercy, God in His
sovereign mercy, He saved me, the chief of sinners, and this
is a faithful saying and worthy for EVERYBODY to accept, that
Christ died for sinners, and I'm the chief. I tell you what,
it's hard to find somebody that'll add a loan up to being a sinner.
I tell you what, there's no reason for God to love us. There was
no reason for God to die for us. There was no reason for God
to do anything for us, and the only reason He did it was because
we were sinners. And I don't know about you, but
I know what I am. I know what I am. And I tell
you, I'm so thankful that Christ, you know, sin deserves death.
Sin deserves death. And you know who died for sin?
Christ died. Sin deserves punishment. Christ
was punished. Sin deserves to be Forsaken of God, Christ was forsaken
of God. Oh, my. Oh, God commends His
love to us. He said, I want to commend my
love. You know, I've had people say, somebody's gonna call you about
a job or something, would you give me a good word? Would you
commend me? But here's what God says, I want
to commend something to you. Something that comes from me.
Something that only I've got. Something that only I can give. And I'll tell you what, and it's
love. It's love. And you know who I love? S-I-N-N-E-R-S. That's who I love. That's who
I'm commending my love toward. I don't have, I don't commend
my love toward righteous people, good people, strong people, people
who can help their selves. For sinners without strength,
that's who I do. Oh my. And I tell you, look what
else he goes on to say. That if he commends his love
toward us in that while we were yet sinners, and when we were
sinners, Christ died for us. And then he goes on to say, now
Christ lives. And then he says this twice in
these two verses. In verse nine, he says, much
more than being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved
from wrath. And then if in verse 10, he says,
for if when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by
the death, much more being reconciled, we shall be saved. So he used
the word much more and being saved in both verses. So I tell
you what, when he says much more, I think we need to pay attention.
Because he's already said so much that I tell you it overjoys
my heart. So he said, I'm going to tell
you some more. I'm going to make it, I'm going to tell you so
much more than I told you so. I'm going to tell you much more
than that. That's what he says. God commended
his love toward us in that why were you sinners? Christ died
for us. Much more than. Much more than. being now justified
by his blood, by his death. Oh, washed in his blood, cleansed
by his blood, by his death, much more than, that's what he's talking
about when he talks about blood by his death. And oh my, this,
this, he says, not all that, but we shall be saved from wrath
through him. Oh, that's why the justified
security has security, because Christ, if we're justified by
His blood, we're saved from WRATH through Him. In our experience, now let me
tell you a difference in our standing in our state. In our experience, I remember
that God, I felt the wrath of God on me. I felt God was angry
with me. I felt that God was mad at me,
that He was angry with me, and there wasn't anything in the
world that I could do about that. But here's how God took His wrath
off of us. This is how God took His wrath
from us, and we're not, Paul said in 1 Thessalonians 5, 9,
we are not appointed to wrath. We were never appointed to wrath.
but we are appointed to salvation through Christ. But in our experience,
the wrath of God seemed to be on us. But when we learn the
gospel, we understand that Christ has already, by His death, by
His blood, He's already saved us from the wrath of God. It's
the death of Christ that saves us from the wrath of God. Not
anything we did, not anything we hoped to do. Christ, by His
blood, saved us from the wrath of God. And that's why He said
much more than that. He's died for you when you was
a sinner, but I want to tell you something, that blood, that
blood that justifies us, that blood that cleans us, that blood
that justifies us and makes us just, that blood is also what
saves us from the wrath of God. Huh? Oh, my. Oh, and it's only, you
know, everything here is through Him, by Him. It started out by
our Lord Jesus Christ. By whom? By whom? Love of Christ, the death of
Christ, the love of Christ, the blood of Christ. Christ died
for us. Christ died for the ungodly. Everything here is about what
Christ did for us. Oh, my. And then look what it
says. And he says there now, oh, we're
safe from wrath of him. And this is what, this is why
we're safe from wrath. But another place said in verse
10, for if when we were enemies, oh, we was enemies, we was enemies. Was you ever an enemy of God?
Oh my, when we were enemies, for if when we were enemies, WE WERE AGAINST GOD, AND GOD
WAS AGAINST US. And then look what he says, WE
WERE RECONCILED. And that word reconcile means
the same thing as justification. When we were reconciled to God,
listen to this, by the death of His Son. Here we are, we're
enemies. God's our enemies. How in the
world is we going to be reconciled? We can't reconcile ourselves
to God. We can't go to God and say, Listen, I want to be your
friend, and I'd like to make amends and get on your right
side. No, no, how God reconciled us, we was at odds with one another
through the death of His Son. God brought, come down here,
and He reconciled us through the death of His Son, and He
brought US into His fellowship, brought US into His presence. Oh my, reconciled us to death,
to God by the DEATH of His Son. Oh my, and I tell you what, we
was against God, God was against us. You know, it's awful to not,
to have, you know, I remember a young man one time,
and it ain't been too long ago, he really wrecked me over the
coals. I mean, told me off that I didn't approve of this, don't
approve of that, don't approve of this other thing. And he was
20 years, 25 years younger than I was. He told me off. And I just took it, I just took
it. And I never have treated him
any other way than I always treated him. And as far as I'm concerned,
that's over and done with. But you reckon he'd ever come
to me and say, boy, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said that. I
shouldn't have treated you that way. But he ain't, and he won't. People don't like to be reconciled.
They don't want to admit I was wrong. You know, that's the thing about
it. If you wrong somebody, if I wrong somebody in this congregation,
and I hurt your feelings, I offend you, it's my responsibility to
come to you and tell you, I'm sorry. And you know it's like Jacob.
Jacob, when he looked at his father-in-law Laban, you know
what he said? Laban's countenance is not the same His countenance
has changed toward me. You know why it changed towards
him? Because Jacob had just about cleaned him out. But that's what
you can tell, but I mean, here we go. And I tell you, when we
were enemies, we were reconciled. I tell you, people got a, oh,
my. And then he says, and then here's
this word again in verse 10, Much more, much more. being reconciled by the death
of God s Son, by the death of God, the Son of God, the Lord
Jesus Christ, we ve been reconciled, we shall be saved from His life,
much MORE than being reconciled when His death justifies us,
and we are reconciled through His death. and then He lives
now. He s not dead anymore. He lives
now. If His death justifies, if His
death reconciled us much more than now, how much more shall
we be saved because He lives by the LIFE that He has, is what
He s talking about. Oh, my! If God loves us and gave
His Son to die for us when we were in repulsive, impotent conditions,
how much more will This love cherish us and preserve us when
we were enemies. And then, oh my, look here what
it said in verse 11. Verse 11. And God himself is our hope.
Look what he says. And not only so, we reconcile
justified by the death of Christ. Reconciled by the death of Christ.
Saved by Christ's life. Saved from wrath through him.
And not only that, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus
Christ, by whom we've now received the atonement. God himself assures
our hope. We glory in God. We glory in God. Not only so,
but all these things that's happened for us and what Christ did, our
justification, all those things that I've been talking about.
We have joy in God. Why do we joy in God? Why are
joys in God? First of all, because of His
character. You know, anybody could compare it to God Almighty?
High and holy and lifted up? It has eternity, thrice holy? Oh, my! And all that, He's a
just God and He justifies us. He didn't let down His character
and His nature and His wholeness and righteousness to save us.
He was just to justify us through the death of His Son. And oh,
that's why we glory in Him. We glory in His love. We JOY
in His love. Oh, we GLORY in it! We JOY and
GLORY in the GIFT that He gave us, His blessed, blessed Son!
We GLORY in His GRACE! Oh, His blessed, sovereign, free
GRACE given us in Christ! We GLORY in His FAITHFULNESS!
We GLORY in His WISDOM! We GLORY in His POWER! And where
do we GLORY at God? Where do we GLORY God at? Through
our Lord Jesus Christ! That's what He's talking about!
Oh, it's by Him we have peace with God. And look what it says,
that we joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Oh, such joy
in God, in His character, in His love, in all of His faithfulness
and grace. We joy in God through that, and
through our Lord Jesus Christ, because He's our atonement. And
that word atonement means the one that reconciled us. And oh
my, and it's through our Lord Jesus Christ, we have peace with
God, received by the atonement. By Christ, we have access into
the grace of God when we stand. We've now received the atonement,
the reconciliation. And then it says here, we have
joy in God. You know, let me give you three
or four things about justification. That's what we're talking about,
being justified. That's what we started out being
justified. That deals with our past. God
justified us. You know, we rejoice in the security of
being justified. We glory in the reality of it.
Justification is a reality. It's a reality. And I'll tell
you, justification is a gift. It's a gift, immediate gift.
You get it the moment you believe in Christ. And I tell you what,
it's received, not accomplished. It's obtained and not attained.
And justification is perfect. Perfect. Absolutely perfect. There's no degrees in justification.
Nobody's more justified than somebody else. Everybody s the
same in this business. There s no degrees in justification. From the moment a person believes
in Christ to the last moment of life on this Earth, justification
is always the same. You take the feeblest believer,
feeblest believer that you could imagine, the believers accepted
with God, you know, our realization of our acceptance may VARY. We
be up and down, but the reality of it doesn t do it. You know,
it s like I heard Scott say one time, this is what justification
does for you. Noah was naked after he got off, got drunk and
got naked after he got off the ark, but because God justified
that man, God saved that man, God gave grace to that man, You
know, the only person that didn't see his nakedness was God Almighty,
because God justified him. Huh? Everybody else saw it. His
son saw it, but God don't see it. Ain't you grateful that that's
the way it is? Huh? Oh, my. Adam and Eve was
naked, but you know who closed them? God did. And you know what
closed Noah when he was in that condition? God did. God didn't
look at him. God only sees His people in Christ
and no place else. If He ever views us outside of
Christ, there's WRATH! There's CONDEMNATION! There's
no SALVATION! And I'll tell you, justification
is PERMANENT! PERMANENT! Once justified, ALWAYS
justified! We can never become UNJUSTIFIED! You say, Boy, I get awful mean
sometimes. You CANNOT be unjustified! Justification in Christ covers
our past, our present, and our future. Huh? Oh, my! It's God's act toward us, not
our act toward Him. His death assures the removal
of all condemnation and guilt of the past. HIS DEATH DELIVERED
US FROM ALL FEAR AND DOUBT IN THE PRESENT, AND GUARANTEE US
OUR TITLE TO GLORY IN THE FUTURE. OH MY, WHO SHALL LAY ANYTHING
TO THE CHARGE OF GOD'S ELECT? IT'S CHRIST THAT DIES. WHO'S
THESE GOING TO CONDEMNETH? IT'S CHRIST THAT DIED. IT'S GOD
THAT JUSTIFIED THEM. OH MY, AS NOTHING CAN BE LAID
TO CHARGE GOD'S PEOPLE. And justification comes from
God Almighty. It comes from God, and it's sustained
by Him. It never, ever depends on our
faith, but His faithfulness. Our faith may fail, but His truth
never fails. It's founded in His love and
His Son's atonement. And last but not least, justification
is a gift. To be enjoyed. And I enjoy it
very much. This is our reality. This is
reality to us. Something God did for us. God
did for us. So let's enjoy our peace with
God. Let's rejoice in hope in Christ. Let us rejoice in our tribulations. Let us rejoice in our God. As
the old hymn writer said, near, so very near to God I cannot
near be, for in the person of his son I'm as near as he. Huh? Oh my. The justified security. I hope
you make sense out of what I said. I hope I didn't do like Job said,
you know, darken counsel with words, muddy the water. I hope
I didn't do that. I hope it is easy to follow.
Our Father, in the blessed name of the Lord Jesus Christ, thank
you for your mercy and grace given us in Christ before this
world ever began. Thank you for justifying us.
Thank you for the death of Christ while we was without strength.
Thank you for the death of Christ and how you loved us even while
we were sinners. Thank you for our Lord Jesus
Christ who reconciled us by his death, saves us by his life. And oh Lord, we joy in you. You're
the joy of our heart, you're the joy of our soul. Oh, blessed
God, triune God, all powerful God, omnipotent, omniscient God
of heaven and earth, The God who measures the walls and the
halls of His hand is our God. We joy in You. Joy in Your love
and Your grace and Your faithfulness and Your love given to us in
Christ. Thank You for this justification
that gives us a perfect standing before You all the days of our
life. Nothing can undo it. Nothing
can ever make it be undone. Your gifts are without repentance,
and we thank you and bless you for Christ's sake. Amen. Amen. Thank you, Lord, for saving my
soul. Thank you, Lord. for making me whole. Thank you, Lord, for giving to
me thy great salvation so rich and free. Well, Cody will be
