Good morning, let's all stand
together and open our hymnals to hymn number one. Hymn number
one. O worship the King, all glorious
above, and gratefully sing His power and His love, Our shield
and defender, The Ancient of Days, Pavilioned in splendor,
Anchored with praise. O tell of His might, O sing of
His grace, Whose robe is the light, Whose canopy space His
chariots of frat The deep thunderclouds form And Tarkus' path on The
wings of the storm Thy bountiful care What tongue
can recite? It breathes in the air It shines
in the light It streams from the hills descends to the plain,
and sweetly distills in the dew and the rain. Frail children of dust, and feeble
as frail, in thee do we trust. nor find thee to fail. Thy mercies how tender, how firm
to the end, our Maker, Defender, Redeemer, and Friend. Be seated. Page 28 in our course books. Page 28 in our course book. Amazing
Grace. that saved a wretch like me. I once was lost, but now am found. Was blind, but now that taught my heart to fear,
and grace my fears relieved. How precious did that grace appear,
the hour I first believed. Through many dangers, toils,
and snares, I have already come. Tis grace that brought me safe
thus far. And grace will lead me home. Lord has promised good to me
His word my hope secures He will my shield and portioned me as
long as life endures. Yea, with this flesh and heart
shall fail, and mortal life shall cease. I shall possess Within the veil
A life of joy and peace The world shall soon dissolve like snow Refuse to shine But God who called
me here below Shall be forever mine When we've been there 10,000
years Bright shining as the sun We've no less days I've got six volumes in there
of John Newton. And it's got the only hymns in
it. He wrote a hymn for his Wednesday
night services for years, hymn in William Cowper, William Cooper. And wrote a lot, a lot of hymns,
God honoring hymns, Christ exalting hymns. Turn with me to Mark chapter
nine, Mark chapter nine. Start at verse 41 and read to
the end of the chapter. This is how precious God's people
are to him, his elect. For whosoever give you a cup
of water to drink in my name, because you belong to Christ,
verily or truly I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward. And whosoever shall offend, cause
to stumble, hurt, mistreat one of these little
ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone
were hanged about his neck and he were cast into the sea. And our Lord shows us how awful
it is to be offensive to God or one of his own children. And
if thy hand offend thee, cut it off. It is better for thee
to enter into life maimed than having two hands to go into hell
and into the fire that never shall be quenched." You know,
he'd already said that it's better to just put a big millstone about
a fellow's neck, take him out in the ocean, drop him off. He
takes it a little further this time. Where there a worm, verse
44, where there a worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off. It is better that
thee enter halt into life than having two feet to be cast into
hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched. Where there
a worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. If thine eye
offend thee, pluck it out. It is better for thee to enter
into the kingdom of God with one eye than having two eyes
to be cast into hell. Where the worm dieth not, and
the fire is not quenched, for everyone shall be salted with
fire, and with every sacrifice shall be salted with salt. Salt
is good, but if the salt have lost his saltness wherewith will
you season it, have salt in yourselves, and have peace one with another. Our great and glorious God who
is high and lofty that inhabits eternity, a God who is just and
yet a savior, a God who will brook no rivals, who is jealous
over his people. And Lord, we pray that we'll
always acknowledge you as God, our God, our savior, our redeemer,
And Lord, enable us, by your precious grace, not to be offensive,
not to offend, not to distreat anyone, not only those that you
died for, but anyone in this world. God, help us to glorify
you and magnify your grace in our lives, in our speech, and,
oh, Lord, in our walk, may we honor our Lord Jesus Christ,
And Father, I pray that you'd please come among us here today.
Lord, we need your presence. I don't want to be here without
your presence. We're like Moses. Lord, if you go not with us,
we'll take us not up. So Lord, if you're not with us
today, it'll be an exercise in futility. But oh God, please
meet with us for Christ's sake. There's people that need to hear
the gospel. need to be taught the grace of
God, need to be, see Christ honored and glorified and set forth as
the only savior and only help in this world. And Lord, we pray
for our lost loved ones. Oh, we have so many, so many
brothers and sisters, sons and daughters, children and grandchildren,
husbands and wives. Oh Lord, We have to leave them
with you. We certainly can't save them,
but we can pray for them and we can tell them about their
lost condition. Please bring glory to yourself
today and do it for Christ's sake. Amen. Let's stand together as we sing
the hymn of the day in the bulletin. The Savior died, and by His blood
brought rebel sinners near to God. He died to set the captive
free, and why, my soul, why not for Thee? Then sing of grace
so rich and free, And say, my soul, why not for thee? And say, my soul, why not for
thee? The blood of Christ, how sweet
it sounds! Love and free grace therein abounds! The creator of all, full and
free, And why, my soul, why not for Thee? Then sing of grace
so rich and free, And say, my soul, why not for thee? And say, my soul, why not for
thee? Our Savior came the poor to bless,
To clothe them with His righteousness. That robe is spotless, pure,
and free, And if by grace, why not for me? Then sing a praise
so rich and free, And say, my soul, why not for thee? And say, my soul, why not for
thee? Be seated. Yeah. Let me tell you this before I
get into my message. There's a sign-up sheet out there
on the table. We're going to have a Mexicano
next Sunday. Mexicano. And also, you see down there
in verse 1 of chapter 10, in verse 2, look what it says. And
the Pharisees came to him and asked him, is it lawful for a
man to put away his wife? So next Sunday I'm gonna deal
with divorce. Marriage and divorce. And it ain't gonna be like you
think it is. It ain't gonna be like you think
it is. Now look back with me here in our text today. You know,
our Lord Jesus Christ When he talked about the hand, the eye,
and the foot, the hand, the foot, and the eye, what he's saying
is that if it causes you to offend, then your hand is what you do
action with. If you actively are offensive
to God and his people, and offend God and offends his elect, he
said it'd be better for you. give up that hand. Well, that's
just how serious sin is to God and how precious His elect are
to Him. It's better for you to lose your
hand. Don't you dare mistreat the Lord's people. And that's
what He's talking about here. And then He also says that this
is what will happen to you. If you don't want the gospel,
if you don't love the Lord's people, and you don't LOVE GOD'S
ELECT AND GOD'S SHEEP FOR WHOM HE DIED. IT'D BE BETTER FOR YOU. AND THIS IS WHAT'S GONNA HAPPEN.
HE SAID YOU'RE GONNA GO INTO THAT PLACE THAT BURNS AND YOU'RE
GONNA HAVE FIRE AND YOUR WORM NEVER DIES AND YOU'RE SACRIFICED.
YOU'RE GONNA BE SALTED WITH FIRE AND YOUR WORM WILL NEVER DIE.
YOUR CONSCIENCE WILL NEVER EVER STOP ACCUSING YOU. AND THEN YOUR
EYES, WHAT YOU SEE WITH, Yeah, be offensive toward God, be offensive
toward his people. And so that's what he's talking
about. And you'll go to the place where your worm never dies. And
the fire is never, ever quenched. That's an awful consequence,
ain't it? That's our Lord showing us. And he started out talking
about don't offend one of these little ones. And that's what
he's carrying that on. And oh my, that's just, So it's very serious, very serious. And look what he says down here
now in verse 50. I won't get my subject out of
verse 50. Out of verse 50. Salt is good. You know, every
sacrifice salted with salt. Salt is good. But as the salt
hath lost his saltness, wherewith will ye season it? Have salt
in yourselves, and have peace one with another. Salt is good. Now, our Lord is not saying this
to teach us about the benefits of salt. That's not what He's
talking about. He's not talking about the salt
you put on your table. That's not what He's talking
about. Our Lord is teaching us something spiritual, a spiritual
truth to teach us the gospel. And salt has a major, major part
in everybody's lives, everybody's. In fact, we can't live without
it. When I was in the Marine Corps,
they'd give you salt tablets, and the reason they do that is
because it makes you drink water, a lot of water. So you wouldn't
get out in the jungle, and it stayed over 110, 115 degrees
there, so you had to drink lots of water, and they give you salt
tablets to make you drink. And I know that people run marathons,
and I'll tell you this, it's just an aside, that they drink
so much water before they go, and they deplete their body of
all the salt that's in their body, and there's been several
people that's died because there was no more salt left in their
body. They drank so much water. But our Lord says, salt is good.
Salt is good. Salt makes things taste good.
I mean, it makes things taste good, don't it, Steve? Salt has healing properties. It has healing properties. I
mean, salt will heal up a wound, and it'll help a wound. And salt
is a preservative. Salt keeps things from rotting. Everybody knows that if you're
going to salt a ham or put a ham or any kind of a shoulder or
anything else and gonna, you know, cure it, you've got to
push that salt down around the bone or it'll rot from the inside
out. And salt preserves and keeps
things from rotting. Salt is in almost everything
that you get from the store. It's almost in almost everything,
more than 50%. And salt also melts ice, melts
ice. And salt is a disinfectant. I
remember gargling salt when I was a child and when I was a young
man, gargle salt when you had a sore throat. So salts are disinfectant,
disinfectant. Salt is good. But our Lord's
not speaking of his physical benefits. Now you keep Mark 9
and look with me in Leviticus chapter 2. Look over in Leviticus
chapter 2. Look at what it says over here
about salt. Leviticus chapter 2 and verse
13. I could quote this to you, but
you need to see it. Salt is good, that's what our
Lord is saying, salt is good. In Leviticus 2.13 it says this,
And every oblation of thy meat offering shalt thou season with
salt. Neither shalt thou suffer the
salt of the covenant of thy God to be lacking from thy meat offering. With all thine offerings thou
shalt offer salt. Every time you make a sacrifice,
salted, salted, and that s a covenant that God made, a covenant of
salt, and a covenant of salts. What s the significance of this
covenant? There has to be a reason for
it, there has to be a significance for it. Well, there s two covenants
in the scriptures, two real covenants in the scriptures. One God made
with Adam, And that covenant was, Do this and you'll live,
and don't do it and you'll die. Well, Adam disobeyed God. He
had a work to do, one thing to do, and that was not do what
God told him to do. And so Adam disobeyed God, and
Adam spiritually died, and we spiritually died with him, and
that was the covenant of works. And then the one, the covenant
of grace that God made with His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. it
s a covenant of grace, and this covenant was made before the
world ever began. Now, works salvation dependent
upon YOUR works. If you want to be saved by works,
salvation depends upon YOUR works. But grace, and this is what I
love about grace, grace and salvation depended upon what Christ did,
upon what Christ's works did. You know, look with me in 2 Samuel. I'm gonna just give you another
one to look at here, talking about this covenant of grace.
2 Samuel, everybody knows this. I'm sure you do. 2 Samuel chapter
23. Grace and salvation depends on
what Christ did and what Christ accomplished. 23 and five, look what it says here. Grace depends on Christ's works.
And I tell you, look what he says here now. This is the last
words of David, the king of Israel. Although my house be not so with
God, yet he hath made with me, made with me an everlasting covenant,
ordered in all things ensure, This is all my salvation. This
is all my desire. Oh, my. Now, when I read this,
that tastes good. That really tastes good when
you read that, don't you? We're talking about salt, seasoned
with salt. This tastes good to a believer.
God hath made with me. And everybody can put their own
name there if they've been saved by grace. God hath made with
me. an everlasting covenant of grace. This is all my salvation.
Oh, this tastes good to believers. This tastes good. Oh, taste and see that the Lord
is gracious. Everything else tastes bad. Every
works tastes bad. Free will tastes bad. You know, years ago I heard an
illustration This is a glass of water. Now if somebody drops
just a drop of arsenic in that, it ceases to be water, it becomes
poison. And that's all it takes to make
poison out of the gospel, is just add a little drop of something. Just add ANYTHING to Christ,
ANYTHING to grace. I'm saved by grace, BUT I believe
in grace, but. A fella told me one time, I knowed
him for years and years, and he stopped by to spend the night
with me, and he said, I understand, I know that you believe in sovereign
grace, and I know you believe in free grace, but I believe
in man's responsibility, too. But have it, you know, he said,
I'm gonna deal with man's responsibility, I'll let you deal with that.
What he was saying was, I don't believe what you're preaching.
But oh, listen, this tastes good, everything else, works taste
bad. Salvation by works, salvation
by free will, salvation by obedience, salvation by law, spit it out! It's no good, it's rotten, it's
corrupt, it's poison. And oh my, this is what heals. He said, this is all my salvation. Now that tastes good. This is
all my salvation. What? Grace by Christ. This is
all my desire. Oh, how good that tastes. This
is what preserves us. Oh my, this is everything. Listen, this is what heals us.
All my salvation. This is what preserves us. All
my desire. The covenant of grace. That's
what preserves us, the covenant of grace. Now salt, is something
that you and I cannot produce. We can't produce salt. We can't
produce salt. No, no. And we would die without
it. And grace is something we can't
produce. And we'd die without it. Huh? Salt is in so many things, but
grace is everything. and in everything for a believer. Oh my, grace, grace is the very
bedrock of what we believe and makes it things taste good in
this world and it's always there. There's never a time that grace
is not there for his people, never, never a time that he's
never there. and grace is not there. And then
he said over there, you know, the sacrifice has to have salt
to go with it. And that's the same with the
sacrifice and the salt that goes with it. The sacrifice of Christ
makes everything taste good. The sacrifice of Christ makes
everything taste good. Oh my, you remember who shall
lay anything to the charge of God's elect. Who shall lay anything to the
charge of God's elect? That tastes good. Why? It's God that justified them.
And there's three who's there. Who shall lay anything to the
charge of God's elect? Who can condemn because it's
Christ that died? Who shall separate us from the
love of Christ? Who? Three who's. And Christ
is the answer to every one of them. Oh my, if God be for us, he said,
if God be for us, who can be against us? No condemn, who gonna
condemn us? That's how precious the sacrifice
of Christ is. There's no past, it can't come
and condemn us. Nothing in the present can come
and condemn us. There's no accusations can be
made against our conscience, no accusations can be made against
us in the sight of God. And there's no separation, nothing
shall separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ. And
I tell you what, and here's the thing, this is the sacrifice
of Christ that heals us. Why do we need healing? Because
we've got a horrible disease, horrible disease. It's called
sin, called sin. And you know religion, all they
want to do is trim up the tree. They want to trim, you know,
a tree has a root to it. And all they want to do is keep
trimming up the bushes, keeping up the bushes, you know, keep
trimming it up, keep preaching against sin, keep preaching this,
that, and the other, and just try to trim it. But God don't
trim the tree, He goes to the ROOT! HE GOES TO THE ROOT OF
IT, HE GOES TO THE ROOT OF SIN. THAT'S WHERE SIN IS, IT'S A NATURE
THAT'S IN US. BUT OH MY, IT'S THE SACRIFICE
OF CHRIST THAT HEALS US FROM THIS AWFUL DISEASE. BY HIS STRIPES
WE'RE HEALED OF WHAT? SIN? SIN'S DOMINION? SIN'S PENALTY? SIN'S PUNISHMENT? OH, I TELL YOU WHAT, HIS STRIPES
HEALED US. And here s another thing, is
it like salt preserves? Because of the sacrifice of our
Lord Jesus Christ, we re preserved. The only reason we continue is
we re preserved. You know, our Lord Jesus, I heard
Bruce Crabtree preach the other day on election, and he says
this, he said, I know and I will always cast you out, and I will
at the last day, at the last day, raise you up. His electing
grace, all that the Father gives me shall come to me, and everyone
that comes to Christ, He said, I ll never cast them out, and
I ll raise them up at the last day. So ELECTION guarantees that
we re gonna be preserved and raised up at the last day. Huh? I'm gonna be raised up at the
last day. What last day? The last day that Christ sits
on his throne and comes to get us. If I'm in the grave, I'm
coming up. If I'm on the earth, I'm coming
up. Ain't that what it says? Oh, because of the grace of Christ
and the sacrifice of Christ, we're preserved. That's the only
thing that preserves us. And every blessing, every blessing
we have is because of the blood of Christ. And just as salt melts
ice, the sacrifice of Christ melts a cold, cold heart, a heart
of ice. It'll melt it. When you see Christ
dying for you, see that blood being shed, see that suffering
Savior on that cross, I tell you what, if you got a heart
and it's cold, The grace of Christ and the sacrifice of Christ will
melt that heart of ice. Oh my, the blood and sacrifice
of Christ, it'll take a heart of stone and just crush it and
crush it and crush it. Oh my, it'll dissolve that heart. Now I want you to look with me.
Salt is good. Ain't that what he says there
in verse 50? Look in Matthew chapter five
with me. Look in Matthew chapter five. Look what our Lord said over
here. In verse 13. Oh, my salt is good. Y'all the salt of the earth.
Who is the salt of the earth? You are, you are. You that are believers. Salt
is good, who is this? And I tell you, who is the salt
of the earth? He describes them to us there
in verse, starting in verse three. They're the poor in spirit. They are they that mourn. They
are those that meek. They are those which hunger and
thirst after righteousness. They are merciful. They are the
pure in heart. They are the peacemakers. They
are which persecuted and reviled. I said, that's who the salt of
the earth is. He said, these are the salt of
the earth. They're poor in spirit. They're
mournful people. They know that they have nothing
to contribute to their salvation. They know that they're poor.
They're not like Laodicea and people that are rich and increased
with goods and have need of nothing. No, no, oh my. And he said, that's what he said,
you're the salt of the earth. You are, you're the salt of the
earth. And you're the ones that speaks
with grace. Colossians 4, 6 says this, let
your speech be with grace, seasoned with salt. seasoned with salt that minister
to people that listen and oh my this salt this salt of the
earth being salt of the earth you're the one to speak with
grace these people and the world is preserved because we're the
salt of the earth you know the only reason it's corrupt rotten
stinking filthy, rotten to the very core. Why this world is
preserved today is because we're the salt of the earth. That's
the only reason it's preserved. When God takes His people out
of here, the earth is gone, people's gone, and salt is good, but look
what our Lord says. You are the salt, but if the
salt HAS LOST ITS SAVOR, WHEREWITH IT SHALL BE SALTED."
SALT LOSES ITS TASTE. SALT GOES BAD. SALT LOSES ALL
OF ITS SALTNESS. What did Luke 4 Jesus say? You
know what He said? It's good for nothing. It's good
for nothing. Good for nothing. In fact, He
said, CAST IT OUT. CAST IT OUT. IT'S GOOD FOR NOTHING. Put it down where people can
walk over it. Just walk over it, it's useless, it's worthless.
And I tell you what, Luke says that if it's lost it's salt in
it, it's only fit for the dunghill, set it on the dunghill. And salt
that's lost it's saltness. Now listen to what I'm gonna
tell you. Salt that is saltless is like
grace, it's worthless. Salt without saltness is worthless. grace that does not save and
make people gracious is worthless. An atonement that does not atone
is worthless, worthless. Oh, my sovereign whose will is
not done, he's worthless. An intercessor whose prayers
are not heard is worthless. A Lord who is not Lord over all
is no Lord at all. He's worthless. Salt that is
not salty is worthless. And I'll tell you what, a saltless
Christian is not a Christian. Just not one. And let's go back
over to our text and look what our Savior said over here. He
said in verse 50, salt is good. Salt is good. And look what he
says now. Have salt in yourselves. Have salt in yourselves. Oh my. How in the world is that? So
by his grace in you, what he's talking about is your life having
some taste to it and a good taste to it. A good taste to it, huh? Oh my, you know what tastes good?
Pouring spirit. Pouring spirit. Those who mourn. Those who are meek. Those who
hunger. Those who are merciful. Those
that are pure in heart. Those that are peacemakers. Oh
my. Oh, these words are words with
grace seasoned with salt. Someone that has this SALT in
themselves is someone with LOVE, oh my, someone with JOY and PEACE,
long-suffering and KIND, they don t ENVY, they re not swollen
up with PRIDE, they re not RUDE, they re not
SELF-SEEKING, That article by Paul Mahan in the bulletin, self,
the most evil, evil person you know. He'll rule us and ruin
us and destroy us if we let self take over. And oh my, not self,
no, not rude, not self-seeking, not easily offended. And oh,
listen to this. God help us to take this to heart. God help us all take this to
heart. And keeps no record of wrongs
done. Keeps no record of wrongs done.
Boy, we're bad for that. We're bad for that. We'll go
back 10 years. So-and-so did this. So-and-so
said that. Somebody treat me this way, that
way. Keep no record of wrongdoing. Rejoice not in somebody's iniquity. Don't rejoice in them falling
and sinning. But oh, rejoice, rejoice in the
truth. This is what salt is. Have salt
in yourselves. It bears all things. Bears every
trial. Bears every burden. Bears every
sorrow. Bears every grief. Bears hardness. Why? Cause season was soft. Believes all things. Puts the
best, best on everything that's done. Hopes all things. And endureth all things. Everything
that God puts in his way, he endures it. God endures it. And
that's what he means. Have salt in yourselves. Have salt in yourselves. Have
any of you ever been around anybody that just leaves a bad, bad taste
in your mouth? Leaves a bad, bad taste in your
mouth. Well, they don't have the salt
of the earth and they're not the salt of the earth. How beautiful,
how beautiful is the character of our Lord Jesus Christ. How
beautiful is he? And how beautiful is the character
of grace in his people? How beautiful is the character
of grace in his people. How beautiful is the character
of grace in his people. And you know, look here, look
at the effect of salt, having salt in yourselves. And have
peace one with another. That's the effect of salt. If
you've got salt in yourselves, you have peace one with another.
Peace one with another, huh? There ought to be nothing but
peace between brethren. Ought to be nothing but peace
between brethren. Oh, when people are at odds,
it's uncomfortable. It's not good. It's not good. You know, pride, by pride comes
contention, comes arguments, contention. Why is there war? Why is there
envy? Why is there jealousy? Why is
there anger? Why is there suspicion? Why is
there unfriendliness? Why is there fear? Why is there
wrong? Why is there stress? Why is there
meanness? Why is there harshness? Why is
there criticism? Why is there murmuring? Why is
there complaining? Why is there unhappiness? Why
is there uneasiness? And a host of other things. Oh, listen. I want what you have. I'm not at peace. There's people,
I'm not at peace. I'm not at peace. I'm not content. I'm not content with life. I'm
not content with people. I'm not content with myself.
I'm not satisfied. I'm not satisfied with myself
or my life or what's going on in my life. I'm not at peace.
I'm not at peace. If I'm worried about tomorrow,
I'm not at peace. You know, the gospel, the gospel
is preeminently a thing of peace. Oh, what a thing of peace it
is. God himself is called the God of peace. The God of peace. Our message by Jesus Christ preaching
peace. Peter said, we preach peace by
Jesus Christ. Peace by Jesus Christ. He's called
the Prince of Peace. Called the Prince of Peace. He
made peace by the blood of His cross. You know why? To present
you holy, unblameable, unreprovable in His sight. Oh, Simeon, that
old big long bearded old man that went into the temple is
an old man. And he went into the temple and
he saw Mary and Joseph in there with their infant son, the Lord
Jesus Christ. They brought him back from Bethlehem
to Jerusalem to the temple to take him, dedicate him to the
Lord. And old Simeon, that old man,
old, old man walked in there, picked up that infant, picked
him up in his arms and he looked at him. and just looked down
at that baby and looked him all over. And he said, Lord, now,
let thy servant depart in peace. Why? I've seen your salvation. Be at peace one with another.
Oh my. Paul said in Romans 15, 13, there's
joy and peace. in believing, ain't there? I get so overjoyed sometimes,
I can't understand it. You all have seen it happen so
many times, but oh my, what peace between those who believe the
same gospel. Oh, we have the same gospel.
We have the same Lord, we have the same Father, we have the
same faith. And oh, what peace there is between
those who have the gospel. What peace there is in those
who seek God's glory above all things in this world. Have peace
with one another. And oh, and peace with the brethren. Because of the salt of the covenant,
every sacrifice shall be salted. Every one of them in Christ our
Lord. is everything to us, and it typifies
grace. Oh, and our Lord said, you're
the salt of the earth. Salt and peace go together. Salt and peace go together. Our Father, Our father, our father, our father. We can call you our father. What
a blessed thing it is to call you our father. Our Lord Jesus
called you father. And you're our father. You're
in heaven. And we can come to you even now.
Come into the holiest of holies by a new and living way. By the
blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. We'll always have access by him.
Lord, I pray that with all my stumblings and fumblings, weakness
and frailties, that you would bless the gospel today for Christ's
sake. For Christ's sake. Cause it to bring forth fruit
to your glory. You're the only one who can.
Have mercy. There's some here that, oh Lord,
are in trouble, in great trouble, we ask for your mercies towards
them. Show them their trouble, that
the only place to have their trouble dealt with is at the
cross, at the sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ. Bring glory
to yourself through this body of believers for Christ's sake.
Amen, amen. Wonderful peace, wonderful peace. 288, 288. Let's stand together and sing
this. We'll sing the first four verses. Far away in the depths of my
spirit today rose a melody sweeter than song. It assists you like strains,
it unfeasingly falls, Insolent, but infinite comes. Peace, peace, wonderful peace
Coming down from the Father above Sweep over my spirit forever
I pray in fathomless billows of love. What a treasure I have in this
wonderful piece Buried deep in the heart of my soul So secure that no power can mine
it away While the years of eternity roll Peace, peace Wonderful peace
coming down from the Father above Sweep over my spirit forever,
I pray ? In fathomless billows of love ? I am resting today ? In this
wonderful peace ? Resting sweetly in Jesus ? Bless his name, bless
his name For I'm killed from all danger
by night and by day And His glory is flooding my soul Peace, peace. Wonderful peace. Coming down from the Father above. Sleep over my spirit forever,
I pray. In fathomless willows of love. See you tonight, God willing,
6 o'clock.
