Let's stand together. We'll sing
hymn number 228. 228. My faith has found a resting
place, not in device nor creed. I trust the Ever-Living One,
His words for me shall plead. I need no other argument, I need
no other plea. It is enough that Jesus died
and that He died for me. Enough for me that Jesus saves,
this ends my fear and doubt. A sinful soul, I come to Him,
He'll never cast me out. I need no other argument, I need
no other plea. It is enough that Jesus died
and that He died for me. My heart is leaning on the Word
The written Word of God Salvation by my Savior's name Salvation
through His blood I need no other argument I made no other plea. It is enough that Jesus died
and that he died for me. My right position heals the sick,
The lost he came to save. For me his precious blood he
shed, For me his life he gave. I need no other argument, I need
no other plea. It is enough that Jesus died
and that he died for me. Be seated. We'll sing hymn number
42. Number 42. All hail the power of Jesus'
name, let angels prostrate fall. Bring forth the royal diadem
and crown him Lord of all, bring forth the royal diadem and cramping. Lord of all, Ye chosen seed of
Israel's race, ye ransomed from the fall. Hail Him who saves you by His
grace, and crown Him Lord of all. Hail Him who saves you by
His grace, and crown Him Lord of all. Let ev'ry kindred, ev'ry tribe,
On this terrestrial ball. To Him all majesty ascribe, And
crown Him Lord of all. To him all majesty must run,
And crown him Lord of all. Oh, that with yonder sacred throng
Free at his feet may fall, We'll join the everlasting song and
crown Him Lord of all. We'll join the everlasting song
and crown Him Lord of all. Good evening, I'd like us to
read together this evening Psalm 65. Psalm 65. Praise waiteth for thee, O God,
in Zion, and unto thee shall the vow be performed. O thou
that hearest prayer, unto thee shall all flesh come. Iniquities
prevail against me, and as for our transgressions, thou shalt
purge them away. Blessed is the man whom thou
choosest and causest to approach unto thee, that he may dwell
in thy courts. We shall be satisfied with the
goodness of thy house, even of thy holy temple. By terrible
things and righteousness wilt thou answer us, O God of our
salvation, who art the confidence of all the ends of the earth
and of them that are far off upon the sea, which by his strength
setteth fast the mountains, being girded with power, which stilleth
the noise of the seas, the noise of their waves, and the tumult
of the people. They also that dwell in the uttermost
parts are afraid at thy tokens. Thou makest the outgoings of
the morning and evening to rejoice. Thou visitest the earth and waterest
it. Thou greatly enrichest it with
the river of God, which is full of water. Thou preparest them
corn, when thou hast so provided for it. Thou waterest the ridges
thereof abundantly. Thou settlest the furrows thereof. Thou makest it soft with showers. Thou blessest the springing thereof. Thou crownest the year with thy
goodness, and thy paths drop fatness. They drop upon the pastures
of the wilderness, and the little hills rejoice on every side. The pastures are clothed with
flocks. The valleys also are covered
over with corn. They shout for joy. They also
sing. Oh, our great God and our Father,
Father of our Savior, our Lord Jesus Christ, our blessed Son,
we come in his name. Come through him, by him, We
have access to thy throne of grace only through him, only
by him. How we do thank you for our dear
savior. Oh, thou that hears prayer, hear
our cry tonight as we bow before you. Lord, we have none else
we can come to. Thou art our helper. You are
the only one that can help us. We're weak and frail. We live
in an evil world that's full of sin, surrounded by death and
dying, sin and corruption, and all that we see and touch being
brought to an end in your time. But tonight we gather together
to look into your word that's eternal, that's everlasting. And you yourself are the everlasting
father who cannot change, whose word can be trusted, whose gospel can be believed,
whose savior can be, as our pastor said today, if we had 10,000
souls, we could commit them all to his trust. And he would deliver
them and save them eternally. Thank you for the heart that
you've given us to be here tonight, to open your blessed word and
hear it preached by the one you sent to preach in this place. And we trust, Lord, that you'll
give us a good service, where your word is sent forth in power
and would speak to our hearts, supply our needs. We ask, Lord, that you honor
your son in our midst, and we'll be blessed by that. Oh, we do
desire to honor the Savior, who alone is worthy of honor. And
Lord, we dare not come to you without asking you to remember
those that we love, our children, our grandchildren that don't
know you. We ask you that you would order their lives to bring
them to a place of need, a place of despair, a place that
would cause them to cry out for mercy. Lord, your purpose is being worked
out. Your people are being saved.
We trust, Lord, that you'll be mindful of those that we love,
our children, save them by your grace. Thank you for the gospel
that's preached here. Thankful that you've maintained
it and sustained it all these many years. We pray that you
continue to do so. Remember those that are sick
of the brethren and sisters. There are many that are frail
and weak and need grace, need strength, need
healing, if it be your will. Help us tonight. Come and meet
with us. Speak to us, instruct us, and
guide us, encourage us, and keep us looking to Christ. who alone
can save. And we give thee praise in Christ's
dear name. Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen. Hymn
number 266. 266. Fade, fade each earthly joy,
Jesus is mine. Break every tender tie, Jesus
is mine. Dark is the wilderness, Earth
has no resting place. Jesus alone can bless. Jesus is mine. Tip not my soul away. Jesus is mine. Here would I ever stay, Jesus
is mine. Perishing things of clay, Born
but for one brief day, passed from my heart away, Jesus is
mine. Farewell, ye dreams of night. Jesus is mine. Lost in this dawning bright,
Jesus is high. All that my soul has tried Left
but a dismal void Jesus has satisfied Jesus is mine Farewell mortality is mine. Welcome, eternity, Jesus is mine. Welcome, O loved and blessed,
welcome, sweet Turn with me to the third Psalm. Psalm number three. I want to give you seven Bible
descriptions of salvation. And there's one verse of scripture
there in verse eight, Psalm 3.8. Salvation belongeth unto the
Lord. Belongs to Him. Nobody else has
got it. Nobody else can give it. It belongs
to Him. And thy blessing is upon thy
people. You know, salvation is the thing of, you know, the
Bible tells us that salvation is work of God's alone. Psalm
37, 39 says this, the salvation of the righteous, the salvation
of the righteous is of the Lord. And not only is it the salvation
of works of God alone, but it's also a gracious work. He does
it by grace. It's a work that God does and
He does it by grace. And not only that, beloved, but
He does it without, and it is the salvation that Christ worked
out for us, and He gives it only to chosen sinners, that salvation
belongs to the Lord. And He gives it to us, gives
it to people since it belongs to Him, without their aid, without
their assistance, He don't need their help. I meant to say, I
told Shirley on the way home, I wish I had thought of this
when I was preaching this morning about that blood in the basin,
You know, could you imagine Moses said, listen, y'all just stick
your hand in there if you want to and put some of that blood
on yourself. And if you don't want to, you
don't have to. It's gonna be left up to you.
You couldn't imagine God doing anything like that. No, no. But
oh, he done it, I tell you, through the meditatorial work of our
Lord Jesus Christ. Our Lord was a mediator, and
everything he done, he done to reconcile us to God Almighty. And I tell you, beloved, and
here's another thing about salvation being of the Lord. He does it
by the irresistible, absolutely irresistible, effectual call
of the Holy Ghost. God effectually calls His people. That's why salvation belongs
to the Lord. And I'm glad it belongs to Him.
I'm glad it belongs to Him. And guess what? He gives it to
whom He will, whom He will. And I tell you, I want us to
give you seven Bible descriptions of salvation this morning, this
evening, if I can. And I hope, I hope that you'll
understand it. And the first one I want to give
to you, and it's out of Genesis 49 and verse 18. You don't have
to look there, but it's called Thy Salvation, Thy Salvation. You know, Jacob said this when
he was blessing all of his 12 sons, blessing all of his children,
when he was fixing us to leave this world, he said, I have waited
for thy salvation, O Lord. You know, salvation belongs to
God. It's His prerogative to give
it to whom He will, and it's His work alone, and He gives
it and withholds it according to His sovereign will. Now, I
want you to look with me in Luke chapter 2. Here's what I'm talking
about. Watch what happens over here
in Luke 2. Y'all remember the story of Simeon.
In Luke 2, where salvation, he's saying
to salvation, you know, we wait on the salvation of the Lord.
You know, Brad was praying tonight, Lord, we have to wait on the
salvation of the Lord for our children. We have to, we got
no choice, you know, and if God does it, we'll give blessing,
we'll thank Him for it, but we have to wait on the salvation. We have to wait if God's gonna
save anybody in this place. We have to wait on the Lord's
salvation, because it IS the Lord's salvation. But look what
He said here in Luke 2, 25. Thy salvation. And behold, there
was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon, And the same
was a just and devout waiting for the consolation of Israel.
And oh, what a consolation Christ is to his people. And the Holy
Ghost was upon him. And it was revealed unto him,
and that's the only way you'll ever know anything, the Holy
Ghost has got to come. And that's what he does to us,
reveals Christ to us. And it was revealed unto him
by the Holy Ghost that he should not see death before he had seen
the Lord's Christ. the Savior, and he came by the
Spirit," capitalize, the Spirit led him into the temple, and
when the parents brought in the child Jesus to do for him after
the custom of the law, then took him up in his arms and blessed
God and said, Lord, now let us, thy servant, depart in peace
according to thy word. Listen to this, for mine eyes
have seen thy salvation. Here's looking at a baby that
was eight days old. That's the first son born. They brought it and give it to
Christ, give it to God Almighty when he was eight days old. Brought
him back in, had him circumcised, and dedicated him to Christ,
the firstborn to God Almighty. And that's what Simeon said,
mine eyes have seen thy salvation. And oh my, and that's what a
blessed, blessed thing it is. It's thy salvation. Salvation
blows to God. Here's the second thing about
him. It's an eternal salvation. That's what I love about it.
You know, Armenians and free wheelers, it's only as good as,
as long as you don't sin, as long as you don't fall, as long
as you don't mess it up, it's good. But the salvation that
God gives to His people, it's an eternal salvation. You know,
in fact, look in Hebrews chapter five. Let me show you something
over here. Hebrews chapter five. Let's look at these things together.
You know what, 5, 9, look what it says here. You know,
it's an eternal salvation. God's an eternal God. He can
only do things based on eternity. And being made perfect, Hebrews
5, 9, being made perfect, He became the author of eternal
salvation unto all that obey Him. He's the author of eternal
salvation. You know, I'm going to say this
and people are going to hear it out there, I believe in eternal
justification. Everything, God's an eternal
God. You said it tonight, He's an everlasting Father. If God
does things based on eternity and salvation is an eternal work,
and God purposed it before the foundation of the world. Then
everything that He had for us in Christ was based on that eternal
work. So everything that ever happened
to us, God had based it on eternity. He said, For whom He did predestinate,
them He also called, and whom He called, listen to what I said,
He also justified. Everything that was done was
done on the basis of eternity, and that s why our salvation
is eternal. God s eternal, what else can
He give us but an eternal salvation? Huh? He ain t going to give us
a salvation, you know, we get it in time, You know why we get
it in time? Because God purposed it from
eternity that we'd have it in time. And then when we leave
this world, we're gonna have it just like he gave it to us
before the world began, gives it to us in time, and Christ
died in time, we're gonna go into eternity, and this business
of time won't even matter anymore, because it's all eternal. Did that make any sense? You know, oh, God devised this
salvation. He secured this salvation. He
predestinated this salvation. He purposed it. It was in the
mind and will of God from eternity. And oh, it was performed. Christ
came into this world and performed it. He finished it and perfected
it in the covenant of grace before the world ever began. Oh my. If we could, you know, we can't
grasp eternity. If we didn't have the Bible telling
us about eternity, and God being an eternal God, and inhabiting
eternity, and he says he gives us eternal life, we have an eternal
salvation. So everything we've got is eternal,
except this little piece of time we're in right here. God don't
look at time. What a wonderful day it's gonna
be when the scripture says, time will be no more. We'll need a
watch. Time will be no more. You think
about all the people already gone to glory. Time is no more. Okay, here's the third thing. Look over in Jude. You need to
see this in Jude. We'll look at these things together.
Jude's that little bitty book right before the book of Revelation.
Salvation belongs to the Lord. He called it a common salvation.
Look what Jude says here in verse 3. He calls them beloved. That's why,
you know, we call people, say, beloved, we say, because that's
what they called us in the Scriptures. Beloved of the Lord. But he said,
Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common
salvation. It was needful for me to write
unto you and exhort you that you should earnestly contend
for the faith which once was delivered unto the saints. Now,
when he talks about common salvation, let me say this, he's telling
us that all of God's elect, all of God's elect, they receive,
they experience, and they possess the same salvation. God don't
give a special salvation to this and a special to that. We all
have the same salvation. We all stand on the same ground
before Christ, before God Almighty. I tell you, we all possess the
same salvation, experience the same salvation, bless the same
salvation. And you know why? because all
of us have been taught by the same Father. You know, when God
teaches a man, He says, you know, no man cometh unto me except
the Father draw it. And He says, but they shall all
be taught of God. Now, I tell you what, you'd never
have a better teacher than God Almighty. You'll never have a
better teacher than God. Huh? When God sets down to teach
you, you reckon you'll learn? You know, that's what a teacher.
He said, they shall all be taught of God. All of them shall be
taught of God. And they're all clothed with
the same righteousness. Nobody has a better righteousness.
Nobody has more than the other. Nobody has any more than what
God gave us, all of us at the same time. You know, one Lord,
one faith, one baptism, that's all they are. And it's a common
salvation. You know, one thing I'll tell
you, and I'm gonna say this too. You know, I hear people, I hear
men talk about, even some grace men, they talk about common grace,
and then electing grace, or grace just for the Lord's people. Now
let me tell you something, there's not a Bible verse for that at
all. And let me tell you this, there's nothing common about
grace. Absolutely nothing common about
it. But when they talk about common grace, that means it's
common out here for everybody who would absolutely want it.
But you know what? There's nothing common about
grace. Grace is sovereign grace, free grace, powerful grace, effectual
grace. electing grace, keeping grace. He's the God of all grace. You
may find a lot of things. We got a common salvation in
the sense that we're all saved the same way. We're all saved
by the same Spirit. We're all saved by the Holy Ghost.
We're all taught the same thing. We're all taught the salvations
of the Lord. And that s why I tell you, and
all the BLESSINGS and all the BLESSINGS and all the GRACE and
BENEFITS of grace belong to each and every one of us equally and
fully. Ain t you gratefuls like that?
You remember when you was in religion? You know, there would
be people in the church, you know, that was more holy than
somebody else, and people would look at her and say, boy, I wish
I could live like that. I wish I could be that good.
Boy, I tell you what, she sure is holy, ain't she? They're living
such a wonderful, holy life. Well, ain't you grateful that
every single one of us in here tonight have exactly Equal the
benefits of grace fully blessed by grace, and we're equal in
grace You know that's The only difference between me and you
is is I'm called to be a preacher But it's I have to have the same
grace that anybody else does And everything has to be done.
And I tell you what, and we owe all of our salvation to Christ
alone. All of our spiritual blessings
come to us through Christ, through Christ alone. And then I want
you to look in Philippians. Look over in Philippians with
me. Over in Philippians. Look what he said here in Philippians
2.12. Wherefore, my beloved, there
s that word beloved again, as you have always obeyed, not as
in my presence only, but now, much more in my absence, work
out your own salvation with fear and trembling. Now, I want you
to notice it says your own salvation. It belongs to you. That's what
I want you to see more than anything else out there. You know, work
out your, it's your own salvation. He said, as you've obeyed when
I'm there, now obey much more in my absence. Work out your
own salvation with fear and trembling. You know, if you're saved, the
salvation you have is yours. It's your own. It s your own. I mean, you know, it really,
really is. Look over at the, you know, look
over at Ephesians 1, 12. I think that s where I want to
go, 12, yeah. You know, God devised this salvation
just for you Oh, for every one of us has the same, and He devised
it. God purposed it from all eternity. Christ, our Lord Jesus, bought
it and paid for this salvation with His own precious blood.
And the Holy Spirit brought the salvation to us that Christ worked
out for us on the cross. And I tell you what, you know,
when He gives it to you, you know how long you have it? Forever. that something, you got your
own, your own. Look what He said here in Ephesians
1, 12, 13, that we should be to the praise
of His glory who first trusted in Christ, in whom ye also trusted,
listen to this now, after that ye heard the word of truth, the
gospel of your salvation. You heard it, it s your salvation,
it s your own salvation, it belongs to you and you alone. And oh,
I tell you what, it s the gospel of your salvation. And you know,
this is such a wonderful thing. You know, if we could give salvation,
salvation was left unto us. We d give it to people that we
loved, and then if we got aggravated at somebody and we had the power
to do it, we d take it back. You know, ain't you grateful
that God says, I give you your own salvation. Everybody, everybody
in this building, I'm going to give you yours. You're going
to get yours. You got yours. You got yours.
Everybody got their own. He said, your own salvation. belongs to nobody but you, and
you can't give it away, you can't give it to nobody, and you can't
lose it, and you can't forget it, and you can't leave it. You
know, I leave stuff all over the place. I go to a motel or
something, we leave stuff all over the country. I left a comb, had to go buy
new combs in some place I was at, I couldn't even comb my hair.
You know, I forget everything, but one thing I can't lose, I
can't lose my own salvation. It belongs to me. And I tell
you what, we can't give it away. We can't, we can't do it. Oh my, everything in the Lord
Jesus Christ that's included in that word salvation, it's
your personal property and it's your possession forever. and
it belongs to you and was given to you by the grace of God through
Jesus Christ our Lord. And ain't you grateful? Bruce
Crabtree preached here about a month ago, he says, you know,
out of Malachi 3.6 where he says, you know, I am the Lord, I change
not, therefore you sons of Jacob shall not be consumed. He brought an outstanding message
on that, but here's the thing about it. Our salvation sure
is because God can't change, and the gifts and calling are
God without repentance, without repentance. Oh, let me give you
another one. You know, it's your own salvation. I love that. I tell you what,
I got my own. I got my own. It belongs to me. And I ain't partin' with it,
I ain't gonna give it up. And I can't leave it nowhere
and forget where it's at, like I do so many things. Can't forget
it, leave it somewhere. No, it go, you know, it's with
me wherever I go. And look what else it says now.
In Hebrews, go over to Hebrews chapter two with me. You know,
I could quote all these, but I, you know, it don't hurt us
to look at them. Hebrews chapter two. Look in Hebrews chapter 2 and
verse 3. How shall we escape if we neglect
so great salvation, which at the first began to be spoken
by the Lord, spoken in the Old Testament too, and was confirmed
unto us by them that heard him? And look what it says, so great
a salvation. Oh my. You know, when it comes,
salvation is great. It's a great, it comes from a,
first of all, comes from a great and glorious God. Great is the
goodness of God. Great is God Almighty. When our
Lord Jesus Christ, when they told about His birth, He said,
He shall be great, cause He's the Son of the Highest. And I
tell you, it comes from a great, great God. And I tell you, it
comes because of the great and blessed Savior substitute that
God put in our room instead. And it comes to us by the great
power. You know what power it takes
for God to save a soul? The same power that resurrected
Christ from the dead, that's the power that God worked in
us to save us by His grace. You know, He created the world
with His Word, but the world never resisted Him. We resisted
Him, and the world didn't have any, when He created the world,
nothing, there was no flesh to resist Him. But oh my, this great
salvation. Everything about it's great.
It's a great salvation. You know why it makes it so great?
Because it's for great, great, great, great, great sinners.
I heard an Irishman say one time, grit, grit, grit, grit, grit. That's how he said, grit. But
I tell you what, it is a great salvation from a great and glorious
and blessed Savior. Oh my. And I tell you, it comes
by the power of the Holy Spirit in all of His power. And I tell
you what, when it brings this great, glorious salvation, What
a bounty, what a gift, brings grace for grace, brings great
grace to great, great sinners. And that's what makes it such
a great salvation. Do you ever, let me ask you this,
and you don't have to answer me. This is a rhetorical question,
I guess, but do you know, Do you ever stop? Well, when you're on your own,
you're out doing something or something, and then all of a
sudden, this salvation comes into your mind, what God's done
for you. Are you ever, while you're walking along, you just
stop and say, listen, God saved me. I mean, He really saved me. I'm saved. And this salvation I have, it's
a great salvation. It's great in the sense of it
comes from a great and glorious God, comes from a great work,
comes from the work of our Lord Jesus Christ. And oh my, and
everybody in this building, everybody in this building will tell you
today, I believe that I'm a great, great, great, great sinner. And
it takes a great, great salvation to save me. Oh, they sang that
song, he reached way down, way down for me. Oh my, he had to
reach way down. And our salvation, it took God
reaching from way back and sending his son to be called great and
to be our great savior, to be our substitute and bring this
salvation that's so great. We don't have any idea. of how great this salvation is. We don't have to know how precious
it is, how powerful it is. And oh my, bless His name, bless
His name forever. Look in Isaiah 47 with me, 45,
excuse me, Isaiah 45. Let's look at this one. I know you've heard this so many
times. I hope I don't wear you with saying the same things over
and over and over. But look what He said here in
verse 16, Isaiah 45, and we're gonna talk about everlasting
salvation. They shall be ashamed and also
confounded, all of them that shall go to confusion together
that are makers of idols. But now listen to the next verse.
But Israel shall be saved in the Lord, with an everlasting
salvation. Make an idol, you're gonna be
confounded, you're gonna be brought to shame. But Israel, God's people,
shall be saved, watch this, in the Lord with an everlasting
salvation. And then look what it says, and
you shall not be ashamed nor confounded What else does it
say? World without end. Everlasting salvation. Salvation,
as I've already told you, is eternal both ways. It's from
everlasting to everlasting. And here we won't be brought
to shame. You know, we won't be brought
to shame. We won't be confounded. When we face God, when we leave
this world, we won't face God confused. We won't face God being
ashamed. We won't be ashamed. How could
we be ashamed of what Christ did? How could we be ashamed
of what God did for us? How can we be ashamed? And then
let me give you the last one in Revelation chapter seven.
Let me give you the last one. Revelation chapter seven. You
know this everlasting salvation, he's the everlasting father. Say from everlasting to everlasting, whosoever believeth on the Lord
shall not be brought to shame. Oh my, you know I don't, back
years ago when folks would make a profession of faith and then
they would go back out in the world and you know, they'd be
brought to shame. People asked me all the time,
hadn't seen me in a long time, they'd say, you still preaching?
like they expect you to do something else, you know. You're gonna
fall like everybody else does. You know, that's what they really
think. And it's sad, it's really sad. But look what he said here
now. Let's start looking in verse
nine, Revelation 7. After this, I beheld, and oh,
there was a great multitude, which no man could number, of
all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before
the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and
palms in their hands, and cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation
to our God, which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb. Salvation to our God. That's
what we're gonna do when we get there. You notice they all sitting,
they all got the right robes on, they're standing before the
Lamb. And all these people from all this multitude of people,
they're all gonna cry, everybody's gonna cry exactly the same thing.
What a day that's gonna be. Salvation! To our God. Our God. We're gonna attribute
everything to Him when we get there, just like we do here.
But there, boy, it's gonna be something else. I tell you. And
they cried with a loud voice. And listen to what it said. Not
only to our salvation, to our God, and listen to this. We're
set upon the throne. He's gonna be sitting on the
throne. And oh my, who is this one on the throne? The Lamb,
and the Lamb. Oh my. And oh, I tell you, when
they ceased their salvation, we cry salvation to our God.
Salvation to our God. That's what Jonah said. When
he was down there, boy, in that whale's belly, and he said, you
know, the gates and bars was around him, he said, this I know,
salvation's of the Lord. And I'll tell you, every soul
that'll be saved is there, every one of them, all at one time.
Could you imagine a multitude that no man can number, that
all of them crying at the same time, at the same thing, with
the same voice, salvation unto our Lord. That's what we started
out with, Psalm 38, salvation belongs unto the Lord. And his
blessings be upon his people. And then look what he goes on
to say in verse 11. And all the angels stood around
about the throne and the elders and the four beasts and fell
before the throne on their faces and worshiped God. But now we're
gathered around there, we're standing up. said salvation to
our God. And this is what they said, and
this is what we say. Amen. Blessing and glory and
wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might be unto our
God forever and ever. Amen. Say that again. and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving,
and honor, and power, and might be unto our God forever and ever. Amen. Oh, what a salvation. What a
salvation it belongs unto the Lord. What a salvation. I wished I could say a lot more
on it than I said, but I... Oh, Lord Jesus, our Savior, our
Redeemer, our great God and Savior, we're looking for thy glorious
appearing. We're looking for it. We're looking
for that day when we enter into mortality, you know, into immortality
and leave this mortality behind. Enter into corruption, leave
this old corruption behind. But all we do, we attribute everything
to our God. All the glory, all the blessing,
all the power, all the wisdom, all the might. Oh, Lord. Oh, you're to be worshiped, you're
to be honored, you're to be blessed, you're to be praised, you're
to be humble. Come down humble before you. Oh Lord, we need
to be like those beasts and angels fall on our face before you. You're worthy for us to fall
at your feet. You're worthy for us to call
down and say, Lord, you're everything and you're all in all to us.
And Lord bless this congregation of dear saints of God. Save you
people in this place. Those who've not heard the gospel,
those who have not confessed their faith in Christ, I pray
that you'd bless them. And Lord, for those whose bodies
are weak, bodies are sick, bodies are frail, we ask for your great
and abundant mercy to be given to them. Go out and fetch our
loved ones as David fetched Mephibosheth, his enemy. Oh God, go out and
fetch our loved ones. Fetch them, Lord, to yourself.
Send someone to fetch them. They ain't able to come on their
own, they have to be fetched. They ain't able to walk on their
own, they have to be fetched. So Lord, go fetch our loved ones,
our sons and daughters, grandchildren, husbands, wives. Oh Lord, go
fetch them, if it please you to do so. We ask these things
in Christ our Lord's name. Amen and amen. Give number 35,
35 in our little old chorus book. 35. 35. If I can find it myself.
35. No, what? Where's that Palms
of Victory at? Last page. Okay. I thought I had it. Oh, I got
the wrong one, that's why. I got the wrong book. I know
exactly why. I had the wrong book. You know,
that don't happen to nobody but me. Let's stand together and
sing this. This just be a liberty to go. I saw a way-worn traveler in
tattered garments clad And struggling up the mountain, it seemed that
he was sad His back was laid in heavy, his strength was almost
gone And shouted as he journeyed, Deliverance will come, then palms
of victory, crowns of glory, palms of victory I shall wear
The summer sun was shining, the sweat was on his brow His garments
worn and dusty, his steps seemed very slow But he kept pressing
onward, for he was winding home Still shouting as he journeyed
Deliverance will come, then palms of victory, crowns of glory,
palms of victory I shall wear. The songsters in the arbor that
stood beside the way Attracted his delention, inviting his delay
His watchword being onward, he stopped his ears and ran Still
shouting as he journeyed, deliverance will come Then palms of victory
Crowns of glory, palms of victory I shall wear ? I saw him in the
evening, the sun was bending low ? He overtopped the mountain
and reached the vale below ? He saw the golden city, his everlasting
home ? And shouted loud, Hosanna, deliverance has come ? In palms
of victory Crowns of glory, palms of victory I shall wear ? While
gazing on that city just o'er the narrow flood ? ? A band of
holy angels came from the throne of God ? ? They bore him on their
pinions save o'er the dashing foam ? ? And joined him in his
triumph, deliverance has come ? ? Then palms of victory Crowns
of glory, palms of victory I shall wear ? I heard the song of triumph
they sang upon the shore ? Our Jesus has redeemed us to suffer
nevermore ? Then looking once more backward he viewed the race
he'd run ? And shouted loud hosanna Then palms of victory, crowns
of glory, palms of victory I shall wear. That makes me think of
old Pilgrim's Progress every time I sing that, you know.
