Good morning. Let's all stand
together. We'll sing hymn number 42. Hymn number 42. All hail the
power of Jesus' name. Let angels rush free. Bring forth the royal piadins
and crown him Lord of all. ? He chose and seed of Israel's
race ? He ransomed from the fall ? Hail him who saves you by his
grace ? And crown him Lord of all ? Hail him who saves you
? By His grace and helpings, Lord of all ? Let every kindred,
every tribe ? On this terrestrial ball To Him all majesty ascribe
and crown Him Lord of all. To Him all majesty ascribe and
crown Him Lord of all. We'll join the everlasting song
and grab him, Lord of all. We'll join the everlasting song
and grab him, Lord of all. Be seated. We'll sing hymn number
125. 125. I hear the Savior say, Thy strength is small. Child of weakness, watch and
pray. Find in me thine own and all. Jesus made it all. How to him I owe. Sin and watch ? Jesus paid it all ? All to Him
I owe ? Sin had left a crimson stain ? He washed it white as
snow ? For nothing good have I I'll wash my garments white in
the blood of Calvary's Lamb. Jesus paid it all, all to Him
I owe. of a Mark chapter 5. Mark chapter
5. I'll start reading at verse 21,
then I'm gonna jump down to verse 35. I'm gonna start here and
then we're gonna jump down to verse 35. And when Jesus, verse 21, and
when Jesus was passed over again by ship under the other side,
it's Capernaum, he went to Capernaum, much people gathered under him
and he was nigh under the sea. And behold, there cometh one
of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name, and when he saw
him, he fell at his feet, and besought him greatly, saying,
My little daughter delighth at the point of death. I pray thee,
come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed, and she
shall live. And Jesus went with him, and
much people followed him and thronged him." Down to verse
35 now. While he yet spake, there cometh
from the ruler of the synagogue's house, certain which said, Thy
daughter is dead. Why troublest thou the master
any further? As soon as Jesus heard the word
that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be
not afraid, only believe. And he allowed, or suffered no
man to follow him, save Peter, James, and John, the brother
of James. And he cometh to the house of
the ruler of the synagogue, and saith unto them that wept, and
wailed greatly. And when he was come in, he saith
unto them, Why make ye this ado, and weep? The damsel's not dead,
but sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn.
But when he had put them all out, he taketh the father and
the mother of the damsel. And them that were with him,
and enter in where the damsel was lying, he took the damsel
by the hand, and saith unto her, Talitha Kumai, which is being
interpreted, damsel, I say unto thee, arise. And straightway
the damsel arose, and walked For she was of the age of 12
years, and they were astonished with great astonishment. And
he charged them straightly that no man should know it, and commanded
that something should be given her to eat." Our Father, in the blessed, blessed
name of our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, we come into the
holiest of holies by this new and living way by the blood of
your precious Son, always new, always living, because our Savior
is always living. He ever lives, and because He
ever lives, He makes intercession for us. He takes up our case,
takes up our cause, takes up our names, takes up all of our
burdens and all of our worries and all of our fears and frets.
And Lord, we bring ourselves to you and bring this congregation
into your presence, bring our lost loved ones into your presence,
our children, our grandchildren, husbands and wives, sons and
daughters, and others that was mentioned this morning for prayer.
Lord, you know these situations, you know the dear saints, you
know the people, and you know what they're going through, and
you know the weary and the burdens. So Lord, we ask that you, in
your sovereign mercy and blessed sovereign grace, meet the needs
of these people. We pray again for those among
us who are sick, who are frail, can't be with us because of it.
We ask your great mercies to be upon them, uphold them by
your precious spirit. And Lord Jesus, bring glory to
yourself in this service today. Please, Lord, enable me to preach
the gospel, And may the gospel run well here in power. And Lord,
we pray for our meeting this coming week. Pray for the preachers
that's coming. Pray that you'd give them traveling
mercies and give them messages, oh Lord, that we need to hear,
that we ourselves need to hear. And Lord, help us to bring glory
to yourself. Pray for this meeting, pray for
one another, and be a blessing to one another. We ask these
precious things in our Lord Jesus' name. Amen, amen. Let me mention, no Wednesday
night service because of our meeting Friday. And Daryl, you
can have breakfast any time you want to. You don't have to wait
till nine o'clock. I know it's, I know some of these fellas get
up at daylight and they wanna eat by seven, 6.30, seven, eight. So you know, we'll play that
by ear, okay? Let's stand together as we sing
the hymn of the day in the bulletin. O Lamb of God, still keep me
near to thy wounded side. Tis only there in safety and
peace I can abide. The grace that sought and found
me alone can keep me clean. Abiding thy steadfast shall endure,
Thine arm the victory gaineth For every hurtful foe. Soon shall my eyes behold thee
with rapture face to face. ? What hath not been told me
? ? Of all thy power and grace ? ? Thy beauty, Lord, and glory
? ? The wonders of thy love ? ? Of all my saints above ? Be seated. We'll look back here where I
read this morning and title of my message this morning is Hope
for the Hopeless. Hope for the Hopeless. You know, when we dealt with
last week's message, it was legion, legion, the man that had a legion. And he was a hopeless man. He was without any hope. Nobody
couldn't do anything with him. He was naked, living in a graveyard,
unable to be tamed by any man until the Lord Jesus And the
Lord Jesus tamed that man, calmed that man, brought light to that
man in his darkness, put him in his right mind, put clothes
on his back, covered his nakedness, and sent him home with a message,
with a message. And here we're faced with two
more hopeless cases. We have the Jairus' daughter,
ends up dying, and then the woman with the issue of blood, I ll
deal with her later, but today I just want to deal with Jarius. But that woman with the issue
of blood, she had had it for twelve long years, twelve long
years, and Jarius was a well-known person But remember that the
whole country wanted our Lord Jesus Christ to depart from them.
Remember back up here in, I think it is in verse 17, when they
saw what our Lord had done for that man, and how they lost their
living with the hogs going into the water, they began to pray
Him to depart out of their coast. You know, you can go through
the scriptures. You know how many times that they told the Lord
Jesus Christ to depart? are several places where they
ask the Lord Jesus to leave us. I don t want you around us. I don t want nothing to do with
you. And you can go through the scriptures and find that. But
here s a man, you know, and he returned back again, come back
and I like what it says there in verse 20, And he departed,
and began to publish in Decapolis, that s what the man that our
Lord had healed him, the maniac, and had great things
Jesus had done for him, and all did, look what it says, they
did marvel. Everybody remembered who this fellow was, they did
marvel. They just was marveling, just marveled at it. But oh my,
they don't want his presence, lots and lots of them don't.
But he turned to Capernaum, there in verse 21, and much people
gathered unto him. Oh, a lot of people gathered
unto him. They was waiting for him, waiting
for him to come. And so the people gladly received
him, they were waiting for him. And that's what we're doing,
we're just like them. We're waiting for the Lord Jesus
Christ to come. We're waiting for Christ to return.
We're waiting for Him to come and get us. he comes and gets
us all at one time, that d be wonderful. But if he comes and
gets us one at a time, well, he most likely will. But it s
not long before the Lord Jesus returns. It says, As it was in
the days of Lot, and they knew not. As it was in the day of
Noah, They didn't have anything to know about God's judgment
coming, and God gives us Sodom and Gomorrah. And I tell you
what, if we're not in those days, I don't know what those days
gonna be like. I mean, it's just awful, the
state that this world's in. So Christ is not long in coming,
and I'm waiting for him. I'm waiting for him. He said,
with patience, wait. In patience you possess your
souls. And I'm waiting, I'm not standing looking up in the sky
waiting for Him to come back, but I'm gonna just keep on occupying
until He comes. He will be here. He's coming. Mark it down. And every eye shall
behold Him. Every eye's gonna see Him. The
men that crucified Him's gonna see Him. The men that put Him
on that tree, He said every eye, every eye, they're gonna see
Him coming in cloud with glory. Coming in power. Everybody's
gonna know who he is then. And oh, I can't hardly wait. Oh my, what a day that's gonna
be. But anyway, that's what we're
doing. We're waiting for him. And when he returns, we'll be glad. We'll gladly,
gladly receive him and wait for it. And oh my, but here's Jarius
is over in Luke, the same thing's over here in Luke. It says there
that he said, Jarius in barren verse 22, and beholdeth there
cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jarius by name. And
when he saw him, he fell at his feet. Now in Luke it said, he
asked him to come to his house. But I want to talk about the
blessed results of trials and afflictions. And it says there
in verse 22, Behold, there came a man, one of the rulers of the
synagogue, Jairus. You know what his name means?
Diffuser of light. He diffuses light. Light is,
and he, you know, his name means light comes out from him. Well,
light is given to us here. And look what the first thing
he did, he fell. When he saw him, he fell at his
feet. Now anything, any trial, any
affliction, any burden, anything that'll bring us to the feet
of the Lord Jesus Christ is good. This man's daughter's gonna die.
She's at the point of death. And I tell you what, whatever
God has to do to us, take a daughter, take a husband, take a wife,
send some great affliction as long as it brings you to the
feet of Christ, that's a great, great blessing. I don't care
what the trial is, don't care what the afflictions is, and
I tell you, and that He said, Please come into My house. Oh
my, anything, anything that brings us to the feet of the Lord Jesus
Christ is well worth God sending it to us. I don't care what it
is. And I tell you, once you come
to His feet, that's where you want to stay. That's where you
want to stay. When you get to the feet of Christ,
that's where you want to stay. Lord, please, Mary was at His
feet, and she says she's chosen that good part. And this woman
of the issue of blood, when we get to her, you know where she's
at? She touched the hem of His garment. Where's the hem of His
garment? At His feet! That's where people need to come,
come to the feet of Christ. Mary kissed his feet, washed
them with her tears, dried them with the hairs of her head. Oh,
the blessed feet of Christ. And that's where this man started
at, started where everybody has to start, at the feet of the
Lord Jesus Christ. And it says here he was a ruler
of the synagogue. That means he was the guy that
run everything at the local synagogue. He was a big-shot rabbi, if I
could say it like that, and for Him to come and humble Himself
before this man was unnatural. It was an unnatural thing for
Him to do. It was a great humbling of this
man to come to Christ and bow down at His feet. And I tell
you, ain't it sad, or isn't it sad? Put it that way, ain't or
isn't, you understand what I'm saying? But isn't it sad that
the last resort that men come to is Christ? They come to Him
when they got no other place to go. They try everything else
until they ain't got no place else to go. They'll try a doctor,
they'll try a preacher, they'll try a rabbi, they'll try works,
they'll try morality, they'll try the law, They'll try carnal
reasoning. They'll try to figure it out
and do whatever possibly can. And the last place that they'll
go is to the feet of the Lord Jesus Christ. That's the last
place we go. That's what I did. I tried everything
under the sun until Christ brought me at his feet. He brought me
at his feet. And oh my. Oh, we follow whatever
it takes. Whether it's a sick daughter,
whether it's a prodigal, one of your children out feeding
the hogs, if it brings our children to Him, it would be for their
good and our good, if whatever it takes for Christ to bring
us down there. Oh my, oh. He only had one daughter
and she's 12 years old. And look what it says here about,
and he told her in verse 23, And he besought him greatly,
saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death. She's
dying. Lord, she's dying. My daughter's
dying. And he says, My little daughter.
My little daughter. My little daughter. I pray thee,
come lay thy hands on her, and she may be healed, and she'll
live. She'll live. Lord, you can make
her live. You're the only one that can.
And oh my, I told about what a sick, oh, she's laying at the
point of death. What would you do if your daughter
was laying at the point of death? What would you do? Who do you
go to? Who do you go to? Who do you ask to Come and do
something for you. Lance was telling last week,
his daughter was in intensive care for four months and had
11 different surgeries. And they gave her up, said, Lord,
your will be done. They gave her up that she's going
to die. But the Lord had mercy on her and raised her back up.
But what a person has to come to is, Lord, they're going to
die if you don't intervene. But here's also the place we
have to come to. If they do die, it's still the
will of the Lord. And we still got to kiss the
hand of His blessed providence. We still got to say, Lord, life
is in your hands. That's what he said. She's at
the point of death. She's at the point of death.
And if you don't come, she's gonna die. And what am I gonna
do? What am I gonna do? Oh my, and
look what else it says there. I love this right here, verse
24. And Jesus went with him. Jesus went with him. Oh, bless his name. He went with
him. Lord, come to my house. He started
walking toward the house of Christ and went with him. Oh, the Lord
went with him. Oh, my. Oh, Lord, go with us. I don't
want to go. It's like Moses said, Lord, if
you don't go with me, I don't want to go. Oh, Lord, please don't make
me go without you. I don't wanna go face anybody
without you, Lord. Oh my. And I tell you what, if
he goes with us, we can face anything. With him with us, we
can face anything. And you know why we know we can
face anything? Because he's the one that gives
the strength, the power, and the ability, and the grace. He's
the only one could do something for this man, and he'd ask him
to do it, And our Lord went with him. Went with him. Went with
him. Oh, listen. Oh, what a great
trial of faith. Now, go down here with me. And
then on down here, and you know, our Lord is talking to this woman.
And the woman with the issue of blood touched him. And it
said here in verse 33, our Lord's speaking to this woman. And it
says, But the woman, fearing and trembling, knowing what was
done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all
the truth. Now he s talking to this woman,
and he said, Under her daughter thy faith hath made thee whole.
Go in peace, and behold thy plight. He s having a conversation with
this woman on his way to Jairus s house. Now Jairus, he s following
Jairus, And then this great crowd's around him, and the woman with
issue of blood, and he stops and talks to her. Now, he's on
the way to Jared's house, he stops and he's talking to this
woman. But you know what interrupted him? Somebody interrupted him.
And look what happens. In verse 35, And while he was
yet spake, he was talking to that woman. And while he yet
spake, one came running, came from the ruler of the synagogue's
house, certain which says thy daughter is dead, why troublest
the master? This man showed no sympathy,
showed no compassion, showed no understanding. He was just
a cruel, cruel messenger. Our Lord was talking to this
woman, and what a cruel messenger come running up, interrupts him,
and he tells Jairus, he said, your daughter's dead. YOUR DAUGHTER
IS DEAD, HOW WOULD YOU LIKE SOMEBODY TO COME UP, YOU TALK TO SOMEBODY
AND COME RUSHING INTO YOUR PRESENCE? NO SYMPATHY, NO COMPASSION, NO
EMPATHY, NO UNDERSTANDING, NO TENDERNESS, NO KINDNESS, NO PITY,
NO UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT YOURE GOING THROUGH. and all the fear
and depression and agony you got going in your soul and just
come running up and say, your daughter's dead. Don't bother
Christ anymore. Don't bother him anymore. Leave
the master alone. Don't trouble him. Don't trouble
him. You're troubling him. Could you
imagine somebody telling you don't trouble the Lord Jesus?
Who else we gonna trouble? Who else we gonna trouble? You
know, folks ask me all the time, How are you doing? I said, I
ain t got no complaints whatsoever. And here I tell you what, to
tell the Lord Jesus, tell a man, Don t trouble the Master? Is
it troubling to the Lord Jesus Christ to save a woman with an
issue of blood? Is it troubling the Lord Jesus
Christ to come and give life? Is this troubling the Lord Jesus
Christ to save a sinner? Is it troubling of the Lord Jesus
Christ to come and go with you? Is that troubling Him? But this
fellow here, you just imagine how cold-hearted this man was
and how he acted at this time. Oh, your daughter's dead, great
crowd around. Jesus going with him, terrible
news, bitter news. Oh my, don't bother the Master
any longer. There's no hope now. Just let
him, let Christ go on about his business. There's no hope now,
your daughter's dead. Your daughter's dead. Oh my,
if we don't trouble Him, if we don't go to Him and tell Him
our troubles, our troubles, huh? Oh my. I heard a list to a message
yesterday, Shirley and I did, oh no, yeah, on a Friday on the
way home. And a fellow was talking about,
well, it was Billy Argeropoulos who was, and he was talking about
that Christ, you know, that we pray and we don't know what,
we ought to pray for. And said, but God knows the Spirit. in the mind of the spirit, and
he prays for us with utterance, it cannot be grown. And that's
what's going on in this man right here. When he got that bitter
news, first he said, Lord, please, I pray thee, I pray thee, come,
my daughter lies sick and pointed dead. Now she's dead. Don't bother Christ anymore,
she's without hope, there's nothing you can do. So just let Christ
go on about his way, there's nothing you can do. Nothing you
can do. Oh, my! I tell you, death is
a disease, and oh, my! Death is cruel, and it makes
no distinction. It takes babies that's born in
a day, and it takes people a hundred years old. It takes them from
the time that they start into this world, no matter what age,
it has no distinction. And this started out here as
a disease to the point of death, and now she's dead, dead. But look what our Lord said to
him now. As soon as Jesus heard the word
that was spoken, he heard what was said, he said to the ruler
of the synagogue. I said, don't trouble him. He
said, don't be afraid. Don't be afraid. Don't be afraid
to go to the house and see your dead daughter. Don't be afraid
to go home and see your daughter laying there with no life in
her, no sight in her eyes, no hearing in her ears. Oh, don't
be afraid to go home and face this awful, awful thing you're
going to have to face. Don't be afraid. He said, just
believe. You believe me. You believe. You believe. And oh my, that's
when he said, believe only. You know, our Lord says, faith
is as a grain of mustard seed, say under this mountain, be thou
removed. Well, this man's got a mountain.
He's got a mountain that nobody can move. And our Lord said,
just believe. How much faith would it take
for you to believe Christ will go do something for your daughter?
Oh my, this man's got a mountain. But all carnal reasoning, natural
understanding, can't grasp this. Only faith can grasp what Christ
can do. We walk by faith, not by sight. And look, you know, look over
in John 11, 40 with me. Keep Mark here. Look over here
in John chapter 11. Look in verse 40. This is where Christ
is going to raise Lazarus from the dead, and Martha said, Oh,
Lord, he stinks, he stinks, please don t do that, don t take that
stone away. And our Lord said unto her this in verse 40, Said
I not unto thee, If thou wouldest believe, you know what you ll
see? The glory of God. You know what
you ll see? The glory of God. Now, if you
believe, oh my, And I tell you, he said, don't worry about your
daughter. And oh, my. And look what he says now. And
he suffered no man to follow him. He wouldn't allow nobody
else to follow him, none of those other people. He just took Peter,
James, and John, and he comes to the house of the ruler of
the synagogue. And there's a great, great multitude
going on there, a big, there's a tumult, big crowd standing
outside and standing in the house. And they, them that wept and
wailed greatly. Oh my. He took just a few into
the house with him to witness this miracle. Outside they were
weeping and wailing. You know, when I first came down
here, a lot of people had, funerals in their house. They'd bring
the body home and it'd be at their house, have them in their
house. And I'll tell you what, and you've
seen it too at funerals. I've seen folks, I mean you have
too, they just get down in the floor when they come up and just
weep and wail and I can understand that. I mean, I can understand
that, I mean, but they were weeping and wailing and carrying on and
having, and making a big tumult and just having a, just, oh,
it was awful how they were so burdened and they felt so sorry
for this man that he's lost his daughter, lost his daughter. And then, oh my, and look what
he says here. And when he was come in, he saith
unto them, why make ye this ado? Why are you going on like this? Why are you weeping? Why you
make this ado? And listen to this now. He said,
this damsel's not dead. She's just sleeping. Oh, we've not, she's not dead,
but she sleeps. And what is our Lord? He tells
the same thing about Lazarus. You know, when he was, they sent
word to him and they said, Master, he whom thy lovest is sick. And
he waited four days before he got back over to Bethany. And
he told him, he says this, he says, our friend Lazarus sleepeth. And oh, all them disciples said,
that's great, that's wonderful that he's resting. He said, no,
he said, no, no, what I'm telling you is he's dead. And he said,
this is for the glory of God. I'm gonna go and raise him up.
So that's why he waited for him to die. He'd been dead four days.
But he said, this woman, this child is not dead, she sleeps. And just like you and I woke
up this morning from sleep, That's the way God views death is not
final. That's what he's saying. We shall
awake one of these days in his likeness. David said, I'll be
satisfied. What? When I awake in his likeness. We'll just, you know, Christ
says, you know, we gonna wake up one of these days and you
know who's gonna wake us up? The trump of God. The dead shall
rise. Oh, we gonna wake in his likeness.
Oh, not death. Death ain't gonna, death is just
a passing from this world to the next. And I'll tell you,
death won't triumph, but life will triumph in Christ. Oh my,
my, my. Look what it says here now in
verse 40. And oh, this is what happens
to unbelievers now. And when they laughed him to
scorn, when they told her she's not dead but sleeps, they just
said, oh my goodness, what kind of fool are you? That's what
they laughed him to scorn. They scorned him and just made
ridicule of him and derided him and said, what in the world are
you talking about? She's dead. She's just asleep. She's dead. They laughed him
to scorn. They made fun of him. They said,
what in the world kind of person are you that says she's just
asleep? Oh my, and oh my. And that tells us this is the
first thing, that they were insincere in their mourning. They went
from weeping and wailing to finding fault with Christ. Weeping and
wailing to finding fault with the Lord Jesus Christ. Now what
happens now? And all listen, he put them all
out. That's what he's going to do
with people don't believe. That's what he's going to do with people
that don't pay any attention to it. That's what he's going
to do to people that won't bow to him, that won't come to him,
that want to mock him, make fun of him. He put everybody out. There's one place that our Lord
was angry at, or two times he was angry, but one time he was
angry. You know what made him angry? Their unbelief and their
hardness of heart. And these folks, you talk about
hard heart, that would make fun of the Lord Jesus Christ, and
oh my, but oh they, he put them all out. That's where unbelief
and ridicule is gonna happen when you make fun of the Lord
Jesus Christ. Put him out of his presence.
Put him out of his presence. Now look what happens now. But
he takes the father and the mother. Oh, mom and daddy, come on in
here with me. Mother and Daddy, Mama, you and
your father, you and Daddy, come on in here. And them three that
was with him, that's five in the house, six with Christ, and
he took them all out. And them that were with him,
and he entered in, he went into the house where that damsel was
laid. They had her laid out, had her laid out. And he come
by, now all listen to this now. He wretched got her by the hand. Oh Lord! Gretchen got her by
the hand. Got her by the hand. Oh my. Look what happens now. He took
her by the hand and then he started talking to her. You know our
Lord can talk to dead people when he talks to dead people.
You know what happens to them? They live. He said, Lazarus,
come forth. What happened? He that was dead
came forth. He stopped a funeral procession
one time and a man was lying in his casket. Get up. He crawled out of that casket,
went home with his mama. You cannot be around Christ and
Christ touch you and you not live. If he touches you, you
know what happens? Life. And he got to touch you
for you to have life. And oh, he took her by the hand.
And it says over in Luke, it says, took her by the hand, said,
made her rise. And it says, her spirit came
again. And oh, look what he says to her. Talitha Kumai, which
is being interpreted. Damsel, I want you to get out
of bed. I want you to get off this place.
I want you to get up. Now, how in the world can she
get up? Because Christ told her to. If he touches you and tells you
to come to life, you know what's gonna happen? You're coming to
life. And look what happens now. And
look what happens now. And straightway, straight immediately,
that damsel arose. And listen to this, she walked.
She'd been so sick she couldn't get out of bed. Now she's dead.
Now she's walking. She's walking. Oh, death is strong. Death is powerful. It's mowed
down generations of mighty, poor, young and old. But thanks be
unto God, there's one stronger than death. And one stronger
than death. You keep Mark. If anybody knows
where Daniel is, Hosea's right past the book of Daniel. And
I want you to look in Hosea chapter 13. I want you to see this. I
think this will be a blessing to you. Oh my. GOD, THERE'S SOMETHING
STRONGER THAN DEATH. OUR LORD SAYS THE LAST ENEMY
TO BE DESTROYED IS DEATH. AND OH, LOOK WHAT HE SAID HERE
IN HOSEA CHAPTER 13 AND VERSE 14. IT'S GOD SPEAKING NOW, CHRIST
SPEAKING, I WILL RANSOM THEM FROM THE POWER OF THE GRAVE.
I'M GOING TO PAY THE DEBT THEY OWE TO DEATH. That's what he's
saying, I'm gonna pay the debt owed to death. I will redeem
them from death. Death ain't gonna get to him.
He said, oh, death, I'm gonna plague you. I'm gonna be your
plague. And I tell you, repentance shall
be hid from my eyes. I'm gonna change my mind about
redeeming them from the grave. Save death, I'm gonna be your
plague. And I tell you, death, the last enemy destroyed is death.
And then look what our Lord says now. And straightway the damsel
rose and walked, and walked. Can you imagine how her mother
and father felt? Now you know it, don't say how
they react, we'll hear in a minute, but can you imagine how they
felt? They walked in there and their daughter was dead. And
while they're standing there looking at her, she gets up and
starts walking around the house. Instead of just walking around.
I bet mama and daddy was just, I bet they were so full of joy
and they just wept and cried tears of joy and thankfulness.
And look what happens now. And she was 12 years of age,
and listen to this, they were astonished with great astonishment. I never said it. Oh my. A tender command he gave
her, and it says there in the last part of verse 43, and he
commanded that something should be given her to eat. Oh, what
a wonderful thing to say, Lord. You know, she'd been sick. She
hadn't been able to eat. He says, now she's up, she's
able to go. She's hungry. Give her something
to eat. Feed this child. Feed this baby. Feed this little
girl. parents were absolutely astonished. And oh my, it's the tenderness
of our Master. He cared so much about them and
cares about our lives, our lives. And the parents were absolutely
astonished. And then He says this, and He
charged them in verse 43, charged them straightly, that no man
should know it. Now this is the strange, our
Lord's ways are past finding out. He had just told the man
that He had put in his right mind, he said, I want you to
go and tell everybody what I've done for you. I want you to go
home and tell everybody everything that I did for you and what an
awful shape you was in and what I did. And here he says just
the opposite. I don't want you to tell anybody
about this. Now you figure that one out if you can. Don't you
tell nobody about this. But you go tell everybody. How do you figure out what Christ's
going to do? Well, I tell you one thing He's going to do. He's
going to give life to the dead. He's going to be good to mom
and daddy when their daughter's dead. He's going to be tender. He's going to be compassionate.
He's going to be kind. He's going to be pitiful. He's
going to be gracious. He's going to be loving. He's
going to be forgiving. Oh, what a wonderful Savior is
Jesus our Lord. Our Father, in the blessed name
of our Lord Jesus Christ, thank you for meeting with us. Thank
you for your precious gospel. Thank you for your word. I pray
in your sovereign mercy that you would bless this gospel to
the heart of those in this service today. Oh, Lord, You're the only one
that could give life. I could say, Lord, there's dead
people here, and Lord, would you come and take them by the
hand? Would you follow them home, trouble
their hearts, trouble their minds, and give them life when they
go home and seek you? Oh, Lord, let them fall at your
feet. Let them bring glory to you and fall at your feet. And
Lord, you take them by the hand, and you give them life that only
you can do. We ask this for Christ's sake.
Amen. Amen. Let's sing a couple verses
of 228. No, 226. 226. Turn with me. 226.
Let's stand together and sing this together. 226. I am not skilled to understand
what God hath willed, what God hath planned. I only know at
His right hand is one who is my ? I take Him at His word indeed
? Christ died for sinners ? For in my heart I find the need ?
Of Him to be my Savior For a sinful man to die, you
count his soul. ? To my Savior ? ? And oh, that
He fulfilled, may see ? ? The tribel of His soul in me ? ?
And with His Word contented me ? ? As I with my dear Savior
? ? Yea, living, dying, let me bring my soul ? ? My soul is
from this spring that he dies here ? ? He, my king, was trying
to be my savior ? See you tonight, six o'clock, God willing.
