Psalm 91, He that dwelleth in
the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow
of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is
my refuge and my fortress. My God in Him will I trust. Surely He shall deliver thee
from the snare of the fowler and from the noisome pestilence.
He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings
shalt thou trust. His truth shall be thy shield
and buckler. Thou shalt not be afraid for
the terror by night, nor for the arrow that flyeth by day,
nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness, nor for the destruction
that waiteth at noonday. A thousand shall fall at thy
side, and ten thousand at thy right hand. But it shall not
come nigh thee. Only with thine eyes shalt thou
behold and see the reward of the wicked. Because thou hast
made the Lord, which is my refuge, even the most high, thy habitation. There shall no evil befall thee,
neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. For he shall
give his angels charge over thee to keep thee in all thy ways.
They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy feet
against thy foot against the stone. Thou shalt tread upon
the lion and adder, the young lion and the dragon shalt thou
trample under feet. Because he hath set his love
upon me, therefore will I deliver him. I will set him on high,
because he hath known my name. He shall call upon me, and I
will answer him. I will be with him in trouble.
I will deliver him and honor him. With long life will I satisfy
him and show him my salvation." Now one thing is certain, and
that is as we come to read the Psalms or any other book in the
Bible, as far as that is concerned, that we have to keep in mind
that Christ alone is the center and the substance of the Word
of God. He said, I am the way, the truth,
and the life. No man comes to the Father but
by me. He said, I am the Word of life. He has the words of life and
He is the Word of life. And so it is that in the Psalms,
of course many of them written by David, David is a spokesman, but the
Lord is the speaker. Even though David is the one
that penned the words, the Lord is the one that is speaking,
and we see that quite often in the Psalms. I believe we see
it spoken of here, and I believe that as we look at this passage
of Scripture, we can see that the blessings, all of the blessings,
not some of the blessings, but all of the blessings that come
to the people of God come to them through the Lord Jesus Christ. Now, when he made promise to
Abraham, the Scripture says that he made promise to Abraham and
his seed, not as of many, but as of one, even Jesus Christ. And so the promises of God are
made to Jesus Christ. Now, we receive those promises,
but the promises are not primarily given to us. We receive the benefits
of the promises because they are the promises that are given
to Christ Himself. And because Christ would be and
is that One who said He would make His people heirs and joint
heirs with Jesus Christ, we inherit the blessings that are Jesus
Christ. We don't inherit the blessings
that are ours because they're not ours. If you were to come
to the Lord to seek a blessing, whose name would you have to
come in? We come in the name of Christ, in the authority of
Christ, knowing that every blessing, it doesn't make any difference
what it is, if we receive it, it's going to come to us through
that which Jesus Christ has performed in our behalf. And so when we
begin reading this psalm and keeping that in mind, And knowing
that we are the recipients of many blessings, but keep in mind
that it is Christ of whom the psalmist is speaking here. Now
I believe that, you know, as we look at how the Lord would
reveal Himself unto men as the triune God, Father, Son, and
Holy Ghost, and there's been much written about that mysterious
relationship down through the ages. There have been many men
who fell out with one another over how to particularly say
this about that and what have you. And it is my conclusion,
it is my studies of it, and I have read a lot of stuff that different
men have written and some who were at one another's throats.
to call each one a heretic and whatever. And generally speaking,
none of us can really say a whole lot about that because we don't
really know. But we do know this, that the
Lord did reveal Himself to men as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Now we know there are not three gods. There is one God. And the revelation of God to
men is in the person of Jesus Christ. no other way to approach
unto the Father. In fact, he said to Philip, Philip,
if you've seen me, you've seen the Father. Now, yet no man has
seen God at any time. Yet we have seen the glory of
God in the face of Jesus Christ. We've beheld Him. And yet the
Scripture says no man can see Him. He's inapproachable, yet
we have approached unto Him. So how glorious it is that the
Lord shows the impossible that is accomplished because of Christ,
not because of us. And so I believe that as you
come and look at this Psalm 91, that this is not a psalm about
what men can do. Now, a lot of times you'll hear
it, well, brother, if you want to have peace, if you want to
be at rest and all that, you've got to dwell in the secret place
of the Most High. Well, how are you going to do
that? I mean, can you just, when you
get ready, just, well, I think I'm going on down to the secret
place of the Most High. Are you going to do that? Not
likely. In fact, you know you're not
going to do that. But he says here, he that dwelleth
in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow
of the Almighty. Now that's a statement of fact. And if a man knows what he is
by nature, he trembles at the thought. If he knows who God
is, in being high and lifted up, and if he knows that God
dwells in a high and a holy place to which man cannot come, then indeed he might see the
impossibility of what is being said here, but yet the truth
of it. It is an absolute fact. He that
dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide
under the shadow of the Almighty. Now, is there a man who can do
that? Yes, there is. And his name is
Jesus Christ. And he has come and walked among
men. And he does indeed dwell in the
secret place of the Most High. And he shall and he does abide
under the shadow of the Almighty. Now, what is a shadow? It is
an image, is it not? Now what did Christ come? He came as the express image
of the Father, did He not? He is the shadow of the Almighty.
Now does that mean He is less than the Almighty? Of course
not. He is the Almighty. But He is the Almighty as the
Almighty has seen fit to reveal Himself unto men and in no other
fashion has He ever revealed Himself unto men. except in the
person of Jesus Christ. And so that's why he said, I
am the way, the truth and the life. No man comes to the Father
but by me. Now it's impossible for a man
to know God if he does not know Jesus Christ. It's impossible.
Now, I know that the politically correct thing, especially in
our day, is that we say, or that we don't say this, but it is
the popular thing to say, we're all worshipping the same God.
You know, the Muslims and the Buddhists and all of these people,
everybody's got the same idea and we're all moving towards
the same place. Not so. According to what the
Scripture says, there's one way. We didn't make it up. We didn't
figure it out. The Lord Jesus Christ Himself
said, I am the way. No man comes to the Father but
by Me. Now, I trust His words. I certainly don't trust the philosophers
of this world and the religious men of this world who would tell
us otherwise. And so it is that He does dwell
in the secret place of the Most High because He is that One who
is the Most High. And He does abide under the shadow
of the Almighty because He is the image of the invisible God.
He is that One who has walked among us in flesh and blood. And so He says, I will say of the Lord, He is
my refuge and my fortress, my God. In Him will I trust. Now, the mystery of the Trinity,
for lack of a better term, that word Trinity doesn't occur in
the Scripture, but I guess it's as good a word as we can come
up with to describe the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost.
I won't argue with it. If you had to rank mysteries,
I would put that one up there as the greatest of all mysteries,
because man can't figure it out. I mean, that's the glory of the
Godhead, is it not? I mean, a lot of people, they've
got it all figured out. I mean, some of these Bible scholars,
they've written all these books, and they've just got all answers.
You go ask them, they just know. Well, how do they know? Well,
the reality is they don't know. They probably don't know any
more about it than you do. They might have some insights
into things, but they don't know these things because this is
a mystery that cannot be fathomed by the human mind. It's just
outside the realm of the capability of it. We know what's been revealed. The Lord said the secret things
belong to me and those things that are revealed belong to you. Now what has been revealed to
us? Jesus Christ, the righteous, that One who has come and bled
and died for sinners, He has been revealed. Now the invisible
God, He has been revealed, but He has been revealed to us in
Jesus Christ. So the only revelation that we
have of God is in Christ. And there is no other that man
will ever have apart from that. No man, the Scripture says, hath
seen God at any time. At any time. That's any time
in the future, any time in the past. No man hath seen Him. Why? Because He's a mystery. He said,
I am. He said, I'm the existent One. The Scripture says, a high and
lofty One who inhabiteth eternity. He's that One. The only One. And so right on the heels, if
you could rank these things, of the mysteries that there are
would be that God Himself is a mystery that is totally unfathomable
unto men. But right on the heels of that
is the mystery of the incarnation of Jesus Christ, that He who
is eternal would come and walk among men. in a body of flesh
and blood as a man, that no less than any wise than any man who
ever lived. He is that one who is man. Now, you know, in some ways it
is easier for us to comprehend him as God than it is as man. In fact, when you read John's
letters in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd John, that was really the
error that he was confronting in those epistles, was that there
were those who said he did not really come in the flesh. He
said if any man confessed, if not, that Jesus Christ has come,
what? In the flesh. He said the Spirit
of God is not in him. And so it is, dear brethren,
that this is a mystery that has been revealed unto the people
of God, apart from which we have no salvation. See, people think a lot of times
that they can just deal with God. You know, you've all heard
them that you say, well, what? Brother, why are you confronting
somebody and maybe talking with them in conversation and say,
well, what's your hope of? entering into eternal life. Well, I'm just going to tell
the Lord, you know, all the good things I've done and I've always
tried to do right and all of those sort of things. See, man
has the notion that he can just kind of go right on in to the
presence of God and he can just talk to Him just like anybody.
But no, you see, there is only one form of access unto Him. And that is in Jesus Christ because
no man hath seen God at any time. Jesus Christ who is in the bosom
of the Father, He hath revealed Him. He hath declared Him. And so this declaration comes
forth and then I believe this is the words of the Lord Jesus
Christ. And He said, I will say of my
Lord, Now when you pause and consider
the incarnate Christ, that one who thought it not robbery to
be equal with God, because He was God. He is God. And yet He came and tabernacled
among men as a man. And He said, I will say of the
Lord, He is my refuge." See, the Lord demonstrated the
fact that He was a man, did He not, in the weakness that He
had as a man. Now He was a perfect man. Now
think about this. He who was without sin, yet as a man was weak. He didn't have all power as a
man. But he was in great distress. He was hungry. He was thirsty. He was tired. And so he says, I will say of
the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress. Who was the strength
of the Lord Jesus Christ? The man who sprung from Mary's
womb. Who was the strength of the Lord
Jesus Christ when He walked upon the earth? The Lord God Almighty. He said, I will trust in Him.
He said, I cannot do mine own will but the will of Him that
sent me. And I will do His will because
He is my refuge, He is my fortress, He is that One in whom my soul
delights. And He did delight in His Father.
He is my refuge and my fortress, my God. In Him will I trust. Now dear brethren, that's the
words of salvation for the people of God, is it not? That the Lord
Jesus Christ is that One who entered into the secret place
of the Most High. That He is that One who did all
of those things that was necessary for a man to come into the presence
of God, for a man to enjoy the peace of God. How could we know
the peace of God except that Jesus Christ had brought it to
us? I will say of my Lord, He is my refuge, my fortress, my
God. In Him will I trust. Do you always
trust the Lord? Be honest. You know you don't. No, we trust the Lord until we
leave, you know, we're praying one minute and doubting the next. If you had to, you know, if you
had to depend for five minutes on your own trust in the Lord,
you'd perish. Because brethren, it's not in
a man to trust the Lord because of the wickedness of his own
heart, He'll be thinking of everything he can other than trusting in
the Lord. That's always the last resort,
is it not? That's the place. Except the
Lord bring us there, we shall not come. But the Lord Jesus
Christ, He did perfectly, absolutely, and without any reservation did
He trust in the Lord. In Him will I trust. And then back to the Father speaking,
the declaration of the Word of God. It says, "...surely He shall
deliver thee from the snare and the fowler and from the noisome
pestilence." Who delivered the Lord Jesus Christ? Exactly right. He goes on to say, "...He shall
cover thee." With His feathers and under His wings shalt thou
trust. His truth shall be thy shield and buckler. Thou shalt
not be afraid for the terror by night, nor for the error that
flyeth at noonday, nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness,
nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. A thousand
shall fall at thy side, ten thousand at thy right hand, but it shall
not come nigh thee. Only with thine eyes shalt thou
behold and see the reward of the wicked, because thou hast
made the Lord." Who has made the Lord his refuge? The Lord
Jesus Christ. He made the Lord his refuge.
He said, I will trust in no other, even the Most High, thy habitation. There shall no evil befall thee,
neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. Now listen
to this. For he shall give his angels charge over thee to keep
thee in all thy ways. They shall bear thee up in their
hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone. Now who was
it that quoted that? Well, ye did, but who? Exactly right. Now, Satan does
not know the mystery that has been revealed to the people of
God, but he knows what the Word of God says, does he not? And
he knows to whom it was written, who it was written about. He
said, is it not written? The Lord Jesus Christ did not
disagree with him. He said, Because thou hast made
the Lord, which is my refuge, even the Most High, thy habitation
there shall no evil befall thee, for he shall give his angels
charge over thee. And the Father did give his angels
charge over the Lord Jesus Christ. He as a man walked among men,
but he was kept by his Holy Father because he was holy and without
mixture of sin. within Himself. And so indeed,
even Satan recognized that this was a true promise, a promise
given for the Lord Jesus Christ. Now, it is a true thing that
the people of God inherit this promise, do they not? But we
have that promise because of the perfection that was in Jesus
Christ. And indeed, there is no evil
that can befall me. It says, He shall come back up
here to verse 3, He shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler,
and from the noisome pestilence. Now the fowler, that's a bird
hunter, and the bird hunter lays traps. Does it not? I mean, that's the way they used
to... They didn't have shotguns back then, so what they had was
snares that they would set that would spring out, and while the
birds were on the ground, they would cast this net over these
birds and they'd catch them. That's what the fowlers were.
But it says here, "...he shall deliver thee from the snare of
the fowler." Now, how often was it that the Pharisees set about
and set snares for the Lord Jesus Christ, even as the devil set
snares for Him. He was tempted in all points
like as we are, yet the Lord delivered Him from the snare
of the fowler. And so when the Pharisees came,
He demonstrated exactly What he told his disciples later,
did he not? He said, when they bring you
before the councils, he says, don't give any thought to what
you shall say, for it shall be given you what to say in that
day. Now when he came face to face with the Pharisees as a
man and they sought to trip him up, did he sometimes go away and
say, I don't know what to say? No, he knew exactly what to say,
did he not? Because his father. was that
one who delivered him from the snare of the fowler, from the
noisome pestilence. Think of all the diseases that
the Lord Jesus Christ was confronted with when He went about healing
the sick and He touched the lepers and
they were healed. And who knows what all the different
diseases that he was exposed to, but the Lord delivered him
from the noisome pestilence because he was righteous in the Father's
sight. He shall cover thee with his
feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust. His truth shall
be thy shield and buckler. Was it not the Word of God that
he always went to when he confronted the Pharisees and he told them
the truth of God? Why? Because the Word of God
was his trust. And the Lord spread his wings
over him, and he was that one who kept him. Thou shalt not
be afraid for the terror by night, nor for the error that flyeth
by day. The terror by night is those
things that you cannot see. They are often the things that
arise in our imagination, are they not? As a kid, you know,
I can remember being afraid to go out in the dark. And, of course,
as I got older, I kind of overcome that fear. But it's still, there's
still an element of fear, is there not, when you go into a
dark place and you don't know exactly What's there? And you're
thinking more about maybe more than a hobgoblin is going to
get you, as you did when you were a kid, but you're thinking,
well, maybe something here I'm going to trip over. But nonetheless, the terror by
night, nor for the arrow that flyeth by day, those things that
you can see that men cast at you, even as those who would
wound the Lord Jesus Christ daily. Remember the time when He preached
to them the gospel, and they rose up in anger, and the Scripture
says that they were going to cast him off of the hill. And it says, and the Lord just walked
past through the midst of them. And I can imagine they're standing
around saying, well, he was here just a minute ago. Where did
he go? Well, how did he do that? He did that because he had trust
in the Lord. The Father delivered him. In
that way, the error that flyeth by day, nor for the pestilence
that walketh in darkness, nor for the destruction that wasteth
at noonday, whether it is that that is seen or not seen, a thousand
shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand. Now,
and I have never been in physical battle, and hope by the grace
of God never to experience that. But I've read testimonies of
men who have been in the midst of battles, and I've seen movies
and stuff that depict these things quite vividly. And it's an amazing
thing that thousands of people can be killed all around, and
one man, he goes through, and the bullets are just everywhere.
And all these people over here and these people over here are
being slain, but yet he marched his own. And Pickett's charged. I mean, there were thousands
that were killed, but there were some that made it. They survived.
You know, how was that? Because the Lord's the one that
directs every bullet that's ever been fired out of a gun. And
most assuredly, the Lord Jesus Christ, this speaks of, a thousand
shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand, but
it shall not come nigh thee. You see, the random acts of violence
that are around can never touch the saints of God until the appointed
time. And most assuredly, they could
not touch that one who is the chiefest of all saints. who is
the Lord Jesus Christ, the apple of the Father's eye. And until
such time as the appointed hour arose and came to be, nothing
could take his life from him, though men continually tried
to do so. Only with thine eyes shalt thou
behold and see the reward of the wicked. Only with thine eyes. Now we're not going to see the
reward of the wicked. Now, we wish we could. Don't
we sometimes, when somebody mistreats us, we say, Buddy, I'll be glad
when they get there. But the Lord said, Love your
enemies. Do good to them that spitefully use you. But the Lord
Himself, He shall see the reward of the wicked because He's ordered
the reward of the wicked. He's ordained them in their pathway
to come to that place where the wicked are destroyed, and he
shall behold it. Only with thine eyes shalt thou
behold and see it, because thou hast made the Lord, which is
my refuge, even the most high thy habitation." Now, if you
read this passage of Scripture and you leave out the italicized
words, which the italics are those which are added by the
translators of the King James Version, and I'm not trying to
set myself up as being smarter than they are by any means, but
I believe this verse makes more sense in the line of thought
that's being brought forth here as the Lord speaking. Let me start again. Because thou
hast made the Lord my refuge, the Most High, thy habitation. Now it is not saying as it would
indicate, which is my refuge. It is just speaking of the fact
that thou hast made the Lord thy refuge. He is thy refuge. He is my refuge. And that One
who is thy habitation, the Most High, There shall no evil befall
thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling." Now
we know that no evil befell the Lord Jesus Christ because there
was no evil in Him. Evil cannot befall somebody unless
there is evil in them. Men sin because they are sinners. They do not become sinners because
they sin. And our problem is not all the
things that surround us, as you pointed out there earlier, but
our problem is us. We have the corruption of Adam
within us. Evil is going to befall us all
our days. Why? Because we are evil in our
nature. And we will fall into it, and
it will befall us in that respect. For he shall give his angels
charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. And they shall
bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against
a stone." How often is the times that we would have been destroyed
were it not that the Lord in his mercy did deliver us. Now
why did He do that? Because first of all, He had
a purpose for the path in which He brought us down, but any destruction
that we've ever been delivered from has been because of that
which the Lord Jesus Christ has done in our behalf. Because He
has stood in our room instead as our substitute. They shall bear thee up in their
hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone." That is, the
thought there is that you should randomly be hurt. And the Lord
Jesus Christ, His foot was dashed against a stone, was it not?
Isn't that what the Lord said concerning Satan? He said, Thou
shalt bruise His heel. So his foot was dashed against
a stone, but the thought here is that it cannot randomly happen.
The thought is that until such an appointed time as the Lord
comes past, that cannot occur. And until such time as it was
pleasing unto the Lord, Satan could not bruise his heel. Satan
didn't have the power to bruise his heel, but he had the permission
to bruise his heel by the Fathers. purpose, according to the Father's
purpose. And so he could not be dashed against the stone. He could not randomly be harmed. Thou shalt tread upon the lime
and the adder. Now what did he say? He said, Thou shalt bruise his
heel, but he shall bruise thy head. And so it is that Satan in the
powers of darkness was able to mount a force against the Lord
Jesus Christ in the flesh and destroy His flesh. But in that
very destruction the Lord tread upon the adder, did He not? And
that which seemed to be of great harm to the Lord Jesus Christ
was actually the very moment of his greatest triumph when
he tread upon the head of Satan, and he bruised his head, and
he crushed his head. Thou shalt tread upon the lion.
Now a lion is a powerful creature, and all of those that gaped with
their mouths upon the Lord, the lion is representative of the
governments of the earth that arrayed themselves against Christ.
the religious governments being typified by the Jews and the natural governments, which was
the Romans. And they both condemned Him,
did they not? And they both had power to set
Him free insofar as they had the power, but they did not have
the power in reality because it was ordained of God to occur.
And so it is. that he tread upon the lion and
the adder, the young lion, and the dragon, shalt thou trample
under feet, even as he did." This reptile, Satan, that serpent
which came against that one who he had set in the garden and
whom the Lord showed His mighty power to overcome at Calvary. Because He has set His love upon
me, therefore will I deliver Him." Now who set His love on
Him? The Lord Jesus Christ set His
love on the Father. He said, I will do my Father's
will. Therefore will I deliver Him.
The Father says, I will. I will set Him on high because
He hath known my name. Moses didn't know the name of
the Lord, did he? Until the Lord told him. Moses said, well, who are you? I mean, who do I tell him has
sent me? He says, I am. You tell him I
am who has sent you. He still didn't know Him, did
he? I mean, he knew something about Him, but he didn't really
know Him. But you see, the Lord Jesus Christ,
He has known His name. He says, I will set him on high.
Where is the Lord Jesus Christ? He is high and lifted up. He
is seated at the right hand of the Father in the heavens. Why? Because he knows the name of
God. How does he know the name of
God? Because he is God. And so he knows that name. He
shall call upon me and I will answer him. I will be with him
in trouble. I will deliver him and honor
him. With long life will I satisfy him and show him my salvation. Now over in the second psalm,
this is one of my favorite psalms, and this passage He says, Yet have I set my King
upon my holy hill of Zion. I will declare the decree, The
Lord hath said unto me, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten
thee. And he says, Ask of me, and I
shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost
parts of the earth for thy possession. Now he is that one, dear brethren,
who was asked of the Father. The Father said, ask of me and
I'll give thee the heathen for thine inheritance. He asked of
the Father and the Father gave him that in the promises that
he gave to the seed of Abraham. Not seeds as of many, but that
seed as of one, even the Lord Jesus Christ. And the promises
of God were heaped upon his head. And he asked of the Lord, and
the Lord gave them to him. And he heard the prayer of his
son, and he was well pleased. Remember? That's what he told
John. He said, This is my beloved son, in whom I am well pleased. I will deliver him and honor
him. With long life will I satisfy him and show him my salvation."
The Lord has demonstrated the salvation of the Father, the
Lord Jesus Christ. He has demonstrated His salvation. Now, today we live in an age
when people talk about their salvation. The Scripture speaks about His
salvation. Does that mean He needed to be
saved? No. It means that the salvation
of the righteous is of the Lord. It belongs to Him. The salvation
is His. When He saves a man, He does
it because it's His salvation. It's the ones that He saved with
His own blood, by His own power. It's His salvation. Oh, how can
a man? How can a man get this salvation? Well, the actual reality is he
can't. The Lord may give it to him.
By the grace of God, He does give it to him. He does give
it to men. He manifests the giving of His
salvation to men first off by sending His Spirit to awaken
them from the deadness of their own sinful hearts. to show them
what they are by nature. And then He gives them His salvation
by showing them who Jesus Christ is. And, dear brethren, without
a knowledge of those two things, a man cannot be saved because
that is salvation. When the Lord shows a man what
he is and when He shows him who Jesus Christ is, that is salvation. What a glorious place it is.
And the man who has salvation is the man who is in Christ.
He is the man who is hidden in Christ from before the foundation
of the world. How does a man get in there?
By the grace of God. Oh, why do we preach such a message? Because it is that which alone
gives glory to God in the salvation of His people. If somehow or other men by their
merit or effort can somehow get into it, then they would share
somehow in the glory of it. But you see, that which keeps
the people of God ever humble before Him is the knowledge that
He alone is the author and the finisher of our salvation, that
we have no help but His, that we have no righteousness but
His, that we cannot approach unto the hill of the Lord For
who can approach unto the hill of the Lord? He that hath clean
hands and a pure heart, who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity. Now that rules pretty much all
of us out, I think, does it not? Yet that does not keep those
who do not know what they are by nature from coming, saying,
I'm coming, Lord, see me? I've got clean hands and a pure
heart. Now, I know I haven't always done the right thing,
but I've done some things right. That's a pitiful place to be
standing, dear brother. But you see, that One who has
clean hands and a pure heart is the same One who dwells in
the secret place of the Most High. And He's that One whom
we desire to be found in. And apart from whom we reject
all others who come telling us something in another name because
we don't want to hear it. He said, My sheep hear my voice.
I know them and they follow me. And another shepherd will they
not follow? I don't want another shepherd.
I want to hear his voice. I want to follow him. Why? Because
Christ alone is the salvation of his people. And He has drawn
His people with cords of love that cannot be broken. And every
promise that is given to Jesus Christ in this psalm is given
to the people of God because of Him. You see, everything that
Christ has inherited here, every one of these blessings that were
bestowed upon Christ are equally bestowed upon the children of
God. Now what did we do to deserve it? Not a thing in the world. Just by the grace of God according
to His mercy and His kindness has He drawn us and brought us
to that place. May the Lord be praised in all
things. Somebody have a question or a
comment?
