Only in Christ

Wayne Boyd January, 22 2026 Video & Audio
Acts 4:10-12
This sermon centers on the exclusive salvation found solely in Jesus Christ, as proclaimed by Peter before the Sanhedrin in Acts 4:10–12, emphasizing that no other name under heaven provides salvation. Drawing from Scripture, it affirms Christ's divine identity as God incarnate, the promised Messiah, and the ultimate sacrifice whose atoning blood reconciles sinners to God. The message underscores the necessity of faith in Christ alone, rejecting all other religious systems, works, or human effort as insufficient for redemption. Through rich biblical references—from Isaiah's prophecy of Emmanuel to Christ's self-identification as the Good Shepherd and high priest—this sermon exalts Christ's sufficiency, grace, and eternal righteousness, declaring that justification is freely given by God's grace through faith in Christ's blood. This tone is both reverent and urgent, calling all to recognize the absolute, non-negotiable truth that salvation is found in Christ alone.

Open your Bibles, if you would, to Acts chapter 4. We'll read verses 10 to 12 of Acts chapter 4. In this situation, Peter and John are before the council, which are the who's who of the Jewish religion. And this happens after Peter and John Say, silver and gold have I not, but just as I have, I give thee, in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.

And this lame man, who had sat at the gate called Beautiful, rises up and walks, and not only walks, but he's leaping, leaping for joy into the temple and praising God for the great things he had done for him. And oh my, and then this comes about, this conversation that we see here, with Peter and John and the council, the Sanhedrin, the great council of Jerusalem where they get together and talk about the religious things of their religion. And they also judge religious things.

But these folks here, these folks here are so against the Lord Jesus Christ and so against the preaching of the gospel And they hated our Lord without a cause. And now they hate his disciples who are going around preaching the gospel. The name of the message is only in Christ.

Now, out in the world, you talk to different people in different religions, and they'll tell you salvation's in this, and salvation's in you doing this, or praying this way, or doing that, constantly doing something. But I'm here to tell you that true salvation is only in Christ. It's only in Christ. Only Him. It's not in denominations. Right? It's not in certain doctrines that everybody holds, or certain people hold, or certain groups hold. Salvation's in Christ alone.

Now, doctrine's important. It really is. But salvation's in Christ. And true doctrine speaks of Christ. speaks of Christ, centers us on Christ, leads us to Christ. That's what it does. My oh my, it's wonderful. And this Bible is a Bible all about Christ. It's a book all about Christ from beginning to end, from beginning to end.

Now here we are, the Jewish leaders, had heard about this lame man being healed, and if you read further down in the text, too, you find out that the lame man is with Peter and John, but he's no longer lame. He's standing beside them. He's with them. It's wonderful. And so these Jewish leaders had Peter and John come before them, and let's look here. We're gonna see here a profession that Peter makes about salvation, and this is a profession that Every gospel preacher makes each week when we stand up and proclaim the gospel. And it's a profession that all true believers make.

Look at this. And Peter's going to proclaim about salvation that it is only in and through the Lord Jesus Christ. And here he is standing before the who's who of Israel. And they look at Peter and John, they look at him as ignorant man, because you can see that later on too. They say, who are these ignorant men? Unlearned men. In other words, ignorant. Oh my. But then they take note that they'd been with Jesus. My, oh my.

But look at this proclamation by Peter, by inspiration of the Holy Spirit of God. He says this, be it known unto you all, so he's speaking to the council, all the religious leaders of Jewish, the highest religious leaders, the Sanhedrin, the highest group of religious leaders, made up of Sadducees and Pharisees, and he says to them, be it known unto you all and to all the people of Israel, this is a proclamation, All the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, they took him and they crucified him. Remember, Pilate was willing to let him go, and they said, crucify him, crucify him. Look at this. that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, oh, this is wonderful, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead. Look at that. Even by him that this man stand here before you whole. Peter's saying, this is not of my doing. Right? This miraculous miracle is by the power of Jesus Christ.

We preachers, we stand up and proclaim the gospel. And salvation is not by our power, but by the power of God. Each one of us is born again, who are true believers, by the power of God Almighty, and given faith to lay hold of Christ. That's wonderful, that's a miracle, do you know that? That's a miracle of God's grace, and it's wonderful.

Look at this, it goes on to say, this is a stone which was said it not of you builders, which has become the head of the corner, the chief cornerstone. Look at this, now here it is. This is a proclamation that goes out all in the world now. And think of all the different deities man has in their minds, which are just figments of their imaginations, gods of their imaginations. Think of religions that have men working, men and women working to try to gain salvation.

It says here, neither is there salvation in any other, that's you and me and any religious system out there. Any false gods out there? Neither. Is there any salvation? None. None. Not by our works, no merit of ours, not by anything we do. There's nothing we can do to get salvation by anything that we work or think or do. It's all from Christ. Just like this lame man. He couldn't do nothing, could he? No. He's lame from his mother's womb. And he's sitting there, can't do anything. All he's doing is begging, which we're mercy beggars in our natural state. We're dead in trespasses and sins. We can't help ourselves or help anyone else.

And they say here, it says that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, verse 10 there, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him that this man stand before you whole. God's people who are born again, we stand before you born again by God, the Holy Spirit, according to the will of God, the Father, because of the sacrifice of Christ. We say hallelujah. Praise be to God. We've been taught this truth here. Neither is there salvation in any other.

So that means no one, no one who's ever walked the top side of this earth except the Lord Jesus Christ, who was God incarnated in the flesh. Not one son or daughter of Adam can save themselves or whoever has been or whoever will be. But Christ is the Savior of His people, those who are sinners. Says, Christ came to save sinners. Thou shall call his name Jesus, for he shall save his people from their sins. Praise be to God. Oh, I love it. I love it. It's wondrous. It's wondrous.

Neither is there salvation in any other, for there is none other name under heaven given among men. Look at that. Look how exclusive that is. Remember Christ said, I am the way, the truth, and the life? Here it's being bought out again. No one cometh unto the Father but by me. I remember talking to some people in different religions. They said, well, that's an awful narrow thinking. I said, well, that's God who said that. That's God who said that. It's not my opinion. And there was a time when I didn't believe this, but now praise be to God, I believe it. I believe it with all every fiber of my being by the grace of God. And I believe it as a sinful man saved by the grace and mercy of God. It's wondrous. Neither is there salvation in any other, for there's none other. Look at this. None other name. under heaven, given among men, whereby we must be saved." And that little word, must, there is the same word that Brother Zane's been looking at in John 3, where it says, you must be born again. And that means a necessity. It's a necessity. If we're to be saved, it must be through Christ. There's no other way, beloved. Sinner friend, there's no other way for you or I to be saved except through Christ.

except through Christ in Him alone, except through His shed blood, which He offered up to God on Calvary's cross as an atonement for the sins of His people, as a ransom for the sins of His people. Now, I don't know who God's people are. The lost ones, I don't know. And the ones who profess, I believe them out there, take them at their word. But only God knows, doesn't He? But he shall save his people from their sins. And praise God, he did it. He saved this old needy sinner. My, oh, my. And I've been thankful ever since.

Listen to this. What a Savior God has provided. Think of this. What a Savior God's provided. He's provided his own son. My. And he's the promised seed. A virgin. Do you know He's God's Lamb? He's God's Lamb. And He's also God Himself. The Lord Jesus Christ is God in the flesh. He's the second person of the Trinity, the Word of God, who became flesh and dwelt among us. It's spectacular, beloved.

Oh my, listen to what Abraham said. Listen, and Abraham said to Isaac, he's about to sacrifice his son, remember? In Genesis chapter 22 verse eight, listen to this. And Abraham said, my son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering. And they went both of them together up to the hill of Mount Moriah, where he was gonna raise that knife. and plunged it into his son's chest, believing that God could raise him again. But there's a ram caught in the thicket. Oh my, that pictures Christ. And that lamb, look at the substitution everywhere. That lamb is taken in the room of Isaac and sacrificed. My oh my. And then he said, God, God will provide himself a lamb. Well, he did. The son of God, God himself is that lamb. God provided himself a lamb. The only lamb that God the Father would accept, the only sacrifice that God the Father would accept was the sacrifice of His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.

That's why salvation's in no other, not by anything we do, say, nothing, think, no. Salvation's only in Christ, only in Christ and Him alone. You know, He's God Almighty. Jesus Christ is not no mere man. He's God Almighty in the flesh. Listen to this, Matthew 1. 20 to 23. And this will tell us why he came. He came to save his people from their sins. And he's the Messiah. He's the sent one. God himself sent his son to be the lamb. The sacrifice that he would accept. The shedding of his blood that he would accept. as an atonement for his people's sins, because we're all a bunch of sinners.

Listen to this, Matthew 1, 20 to 21. But while he thought on these things, this is Joseph, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. Joseph found out that his wife's pregnant, And what they would do then if a woman got pregnant before wedlock, they would put them out. But the angel of the Lord appears here to Joseph and says, she's not been with any other woman or any other man, I'm sorry, any other man. No, that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. Here's the promised Messiah coming, the seed of the woman.

And then it says this, Matthew 1, 21, And she shall bring forth a son, and now shall call his name Jesus, for he shall save his people from their sins. Look at that. Look at that surety. He shall.

Now all this was done that it might be fulfilled, which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Behold, a virgin shall be with child. That was spoken in Isaiah. And shall bring forth a son, and he shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted as God with us.

The Lord Jesus Christ is God in the flesh. In the Word of God, the second person of the Trinity became flesh to save us from our sins by the shedding of his precious blood, the giving of his life. My. And he's our Savior and our God, beloved. He's our Savior and God. He's our Great Shepherd. He's our Great Shepherd. And the scripture declares this.

In John chapter 10, if you want to turn there, John chapter 10, in verse 11, the master himself, God in the flesh, declares this. I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep. Look at that. And what are we who are born again, blood washed? We're sheep. We're the sheep of God. It's amazing. He says, I am the Good Shepherd. Oh, He is. He's so merciful.

Sinner friend, He's so merciful. He's so wonderful that His atonement covers the sin. His blood atonement covers the sins of all of God's people. And I'm telling you, I'm standing here before you proclaiming the Word of God. And I'm still a sinner, but I'm saved from all my sins, past, present, and future. And that's glorious.

Now that doesn't, people say, well, if you preach like that, then folks will want to go out and do whatever they want. No, it's quite the opposite, actually. We desire, we sin more than we want to. My, why? Well, because the good shepherd give his life for us. Oh my.

And then further down in that chapter, in verse 14, he says, I am the good shepherd and know my sheep, and am knowing of mine. As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father, and I lay down my life for the sheep. That's the second time he's told us in the same portion of scripture. He says, I lay down my life for the sheep. That's the whole reason he came, to save his people from their sins.

Oh, Jesus Christ is our shepherd. He's laid down his life to save us from our sins. 2,000 years ago, the work's already done. And he alone is well-fitted to be our high priest. Do you know that? Our great high priest.

Chapter 2 of Hebrews, the scripture declares this. For verily he took not on him the nature of angels, but he took on him the seed of Abraham. He became a man, the word of God. Wherefore, in all things it behooved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of his people."

Oh, oh, does that not make your house, your heart sing? Does that not make your heart sing, beloved? Listen to that again. I'll read that last part. to make reconciliation for the sins of his people. He's reconciled us to God, beloved, through his blood. It's so wonderful. It's so glorious. And we're complete in Christ, beloved. We're absolutely complete in Christ. All that a sinner needs, I'll tell you, sinner friend, I'm just one sinner telling other sinners, about this glorious Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. And all that sinner needs, all that a sinner needs is found in Christ. All. Oh, he's a perfect atonement for our sins. And he's justification from all our sins. His wisdom and His grace has been poured out upon His people. We've been shown mercy before we even existed, as Christ died for His people 2,000 years ago. Died for sinners. And how are they saved? Through His blood and righteousness. It's absolutely glorious.

Listen to this portion in Romans chapter 3. being justified freely, freely, all according to God's will and purpose. Freely, is that, that's amazing. Freely, by his grace. How? Through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. My, oh my, that's absolutely incredible. Through Christ's redemption, whom God has set forth to be a propitiation, through faith in his blood, a sacrifice for sinners, through his blood, to declare his righteousness, for the remission of sins that are passed through the forbearance of God, to declare, I say at this time, his righteousness, that he might be just and the justifier of him that believeth in Jesus.

So God, he's a just God. He can't pass on sin. He can't wink at it. But he's also the justifier, as God himself gives his life, becomes a man, gives his life, and sheds his blood to save his people from their sins. So marvel, beloved of God, at how gracious the Lord is to impute his righteousness to us freely by his grace. My, and this grace is forever. He sets guilty poor and lost sinners free by His almighty power and by His sovereign grace. Hallelujah. What a Savior we have in Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen and amen.
