This sermon centers on the divine identity of Jesus Christ as revealed in Revelation 1:8, where He declares Himself the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the eternal Almighty One who is, was, and is to come. This title, repeated four times in Revelation, affirms Christ's preeminence as the eternal God, the Creator, Sustainer, and ultimate Judge of all things, underscoring His unchanging nature and sovereign authority over history and salvation. The message emphasizes that the entire Bible, especially Revelation, is not a cryptic prophecy about end-time events or the Antichrist, but a revelation of Christ Himself—God incarnate, the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world, and the only Savior of sinners. Through the Holy Spirit's illumination, believers come to see Christ as the source of their salvation, justification, and eternal security, resting in His finished work on the cross and His unchanging, all-powerful love. The sermon calls for awe, worship, and confidence in Christ's divine sovereignty, assuring believers that their souls are safe in the hands of the Almighty, the one true living God.

Open your Bibles, if you would, to the book of Revelation, chapter 1. Revelation, chapter 1. The name of the message is Alpha and Omega. Turn with me, if you would, to the book of Revelation.
Now, this small book written by John the Apostle was inspired by the Holy Spirit of God, who is the true author of all the scriptures. Now, the Lord Jesus Christ is and was God incarnate in the flesh. The word of God became flesh and dwelt among us. And the whole reason that he came to this world was to save his people from their sins, Matthew 1, 21. And Jesus Christ is God incarnate in the flesh.
In John 15, 26, God himself, the Word of God, the Lord Jesus Christ, tells us that he will send us a comforter. He'll send us a comforter. When he's risen from the grave and is seated at the right hand of the Father, that he'll send his people a comforter, and that's the Holy Spirit of God. And the Holy Spirit of God will testify of the Lord Jesus Christ, which means he'll reveal Christ to his people. to all of God's people, chosen in Christ before the foundation of the world, the Holy Spirit will reveal Himself, or the Holy Spirit will regenerate us, I mean, and will reveal Christ to us. And then as we grow as believers, He'll reveal more and more of the scriptures.
In John 15, 26, it says this, the Lord Jesus said, but when the Comforter has come, whom I will send to you. Isn't it interesting that God the Father sent the Son, and then God the Son sends the Spirit to his people. Wonderful, wonderful. Whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth. So he's called, he's the Holy Spirit, he's the Spirit of truth. He's called the Comforter. He says, which proceeded from the Father, he shall testify of me. So the Holy Spirit will testify of Christ, will reveal the scriptures to us, illuminate the scriptures for us, and he will testify of Christ. That's who he will. He'll reveal Christ to his people.
Now, in Revelation chapter one here, we see that the book of Revelation is a book called the Revelation of Jesus Christ. Now, a lot of people And they get all tied up in knots about this book. And I'm not gonna get into that. I'm just gonna simply tell you what the first verse here says, that this book is a revelation of Jesus Christ. So what does that tell us? It reveals Christ. It reveals Christ to us.
Revelation chapter one, verses one and two. Look at this. And this book, again, is the revelation of Jesus Christ. It's all about Him. He's the Conqueror. He's the Mighty One. Look what it says here. Revelation 1-1, the revelation of Jesus Christ. Now, it may say in your Bibles, the revelation of John the Apostle. Scratch that out. It's the revelation of Jesus Christ. This book reveals Christ. Brother Zane, he scratched out the revelation of John the Apostle, and he puts under it Jesus Christ, because that's what the first verse says. My, this book is about Christ, just like all the other books in the Bible.
It says here, the revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him to show unto his servants. things which must shortly come to pass, and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John, who bare record of the word of God and of the testimony..." Look at this. "...the testimony of Jesus Christ." That's what this book's about. It's a revelation of Jesus Christ.
See, people getting all caught up in the Antichrist and all these other end-time stuff that's happening in this book. It's a revelation of Christ. You know what the problem is? And I found this with some of my friends who I talked to who are in religion. They're looking for the Antichrist more than they're looking to Christ. They're looking for the Antichrist and all these signs and stuff. This book isn't a revelation of the Antichrist. This book is a revelation of Jesus Christ.
My! And the verse that we're gonna look at for this lesson where we see revealed to us by the Holy Spirit of God, these wondrous words. Now, don't forget, we wouldn't believe these words unless we were born again. When we're not born again, we read the Bible and go, oh, it's just paper and ink. That happened to me. But now I read this Bible and oh my, it's all about Christ.
Look at this in Revelation chapter one, verse eight. This is where our lesson's from. We see that Jesus Christ is the Alpha and Omega and the Almighty One. Look at what he says, Revelation 1.8, I am Alpha and Omega. So Christ is revealing himself here to us. He's the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is and was, which is to come, the Almighty
That's who he is my Savior The one who saved my soul with his precious blood the one that saved me from my sins is none other than the Almighty one And if you're trusting Jesus Christ for the saving of your soul through his blood and righteousness And you're trusting according to the scripture here the Almighty God himself The Word of God.
Now this title, I found out when I was studying this message, this title is used four times in the book of Revelation. We see there in Revelation 180, he says, I'm the Alpha and the Omega. And then turn, if you would, over to Revelation 111. Look a little further down. We see this verse says this. Saying, I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last. He's already said that to us, right? He's repeating it again. We need things repeated to us, don't we? I do. I need things repeated to me.
What thou seest, write in the book and send it into the seven churches, which are in Asia, under Ephesus, and under Smyrna, and under Pergamos, and under Thyatira, and under Sardis, and under Philadelphia, and under Laodicea. Then over in Revelation chapter 21, turn there if you would quickly, but keep your finger in Revelation 1.8. Revelation 21 verse 6, he says this. And he said unto me, it is done. I am Alpha and Omega. He's declaring who he is. He's revealing who he is. Look again, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is a thirst of the fountain of water of life freely.
Are you hungry? Are you hungry for Christ? Are you thirsty for Christ? Oh, my. Oh, my. He's the water of life, and He's the bread of life. He's the only Savior of sinners, such as me and such as you. If you believe on Him, oh, you're like me. You're but a safe sinner, but we're rejoicing, aren't we? Oh, it's wondrous. It's wondrous.
I was talking to Brother Charlie this afternoon, this afternoon, just chatting, just give me a call. We were chatting and my oh my, we were so excited about what the Lord's done for us and where we were in our past and how he saved us. That's wonderful, isn't it? And who saved us? The Almighty One, the Alpha and the Omega. Oh, it's wonderful. Rejoice, beloved, if you're saved. Rejoice. You're saved by the Almighty One. Isn't that wonderful? Think, think, we're safe from our sins, we're safe from hell, we're safe from condemnation, we're safe from the judgment of God, we're safe from the law of God, we're safe from the wrath of God. Oh my. And we're justified in God's sight by the perfect spotless righteousness of the Lord Jesus Christ.
And then the fourth time this is mentioned in Revelation is in Revelation 22, 13. He says again, I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. Four times he's told us this. Four times he's told us that he's the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last. My oh my, isn't that wonderful? He's unchanging.
Now, there's no hidden mystery in these words. There really isn't. There really isn't. There's simply, he's simply declaring that he's the first and the last. And what he's declaring is he's the first and the last in the Greek alphabet. In our language, it'd be like him saying, I'm the A to Z and everything in between. Isn't that amazing? What he's saying here, he says, I'm the beginning and the ending. I'm the first and the last.
As John Gill points out, these letters alpha and omega being the first and last of the alphabet may stand for the whole. Oh my, I ask you, blessed, born-again, blood-washed saint of God, is Christ not the Alpha and Omega for us? Is Christ not the Alpha and Omega in our salvation? Is Christ not the Alpha and Omega in our lives? Is he not the Alpha and the Omega in the church? Oh, praise his mighty name. Praise His mighty name. He's the Alpha and the Omega. He's the first and the last. He's the beginning and the end. And it's He, the Almighty, who became a man and went to Calvary's cross to save His people from their sins. And you know what? He did it. 2,000 years ago, He cried, it is finished. And He says, all who will come to Him, He'll save to the uttermost. Oh my, he never cast away anyone who's come to him, never. Oh, it's wonderful. He's the beginning and the end, the first and the last.
And these words bring forth that Jesus Christ is our eternal God. He's our eternal God. He is the eternal God. With the words alpha and omega, the beginning and the ending, the first and the last, our savior, he's identifying himself as Jehovah. He's Jehovah. He's Jehovah the Son. And He's as much God as Jehovah the Father. And as much God as Jehovah the Holy Spirit. And the three are one and they're united in purpose and will. Isn't that wonderful? Oh, it's absolutely wonderful. And He's declaring Himself as Jehovah, our eternal, immutable, saving covenant God. That's wonderful.
Our salvation has been purchased with the blood of Christ, the blood of the God-man. Remember in Acts, it says, God purchased his church with his own blood. That's speaking about the God-man. That's speaking about the Lord Jesus Christ, who's God incarnated in the flesh. Isn't that wonderful? Oh my.
So marvel at these beloved words. Marvel at these beloved words you who are the born-again blood-washed Saints He says by the way of these wonderful words. He says I'm I'm the Lord I'm the one which was which is and in which is to come He's saying I'm the eternal one Our salvation has been accomplished by the eternal one beloved In that wonderful he did it all I He did it all. We're saved through His blood and righteousness. He redeemed us out from under the curse of the law by fulfilling the law perfectly for us. He's our great substitute. Absolutely amazing. Absolutely. And who is He? He's the Almighty One. And this is one of the ways which the Lord identifies himself. We see here, plainly in scripture, it's so clear. He says, I'm the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, right? The Almighty One. Oh my. The Lord Jesus Christ, our Redeemer, He's God over all, beloved. That's who saved our souls. My soul's being purchased by the one who's God over all. the one true living God.
And I marvel, as I talk to my brothers and sisters, we marvel together in Christ. We marvel that where we were, and the Lord found us and saved us, and now what he's taught us. And you know what? The more we grow in grace, the more we marvel at the Lord Jesus Christ. The more we marvel at the wondrous things that he's done. Absolutely incredible.
So he's identifying himself in this text, with this title, as the one true living God. Because all other gods of man's imagination are but false gods. Just false gods. My. And the Lord Jesus Christ, our Redeemer, he's God over all. He's God from eternity. He's sent by the Father into this world. to redeem those who the Father gave Him in eternity. We don't know who they are, so we preach the gospel to everyone and say, come! Come to Christ! Flee to Christ! My! He's the only hope for sinners. My! And He's the Savior. All who come to God by Him. You know that? Everyone who comes to God through Him and by Him are saved. Isn't that wonderful?
And you know what? He was the Savior of all the saints in the Old Testament. All those saints were looking to the Messiah. Abraham was looking to the Messiah. Who's the Messiah? The Lord Jesus Christ, the Alpha, the Omega, the Almighty One, the first and the last, which was and is and is to come. Oh my! It's wonderful. It's absolutely wonderful. And He's the Lamb slain from before the foundation of the world. Before there was ever a sinner, there was a Savior, the Word of God, the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. And He's come to be the Savior of God's elect. And He's sinless. He's perfect. He's spotless. He's God in the flesh. God incarnate in the flesh. Isn't that wonderful?
This is He who has saved the born-again blood-washed people from all our sins. So let us be in awe. He's always the same. He's unchanging. He's unchangeable. He is and was and is to come. or he, sorry, he was and is and is to come. He's God Almighty. He's always been God and here forever be God. And praise God he doesn't change. He's the same yesterday, today and forever. My, his person and his love, his virtue and his purpose are all immutable. He's unchanging. Our Savior is the unchanging God who loves us with an everlasting love. And did he not show that love by shedding his blood for us at Calvary's Cross, by saving us from all our sins? Oh, he did, didn't he?
And when the Lord Jesus Christ says, I'm the Alpha and Omega, he's asserting his own glorious preeminence as Christ. He's God. He's the Christ of God. He's the Messiah. And it pleased the Father to give His Son preeminence in all things. In all things. Therefore, it is so, and therefore it is Christ who is the beginning of all things. He's the substance of all things. He's the sustainer of all things. Saved and lost. Invisible, invisible creatures. My. And you know what else? He's the end of all things, isn't he? Oh yeah. Oh yeah. One day, every single human being who ever lived will stand before him. and they'll either be clothed in their own filthy righteousness, or they'll be clothed in the spotless righteousness of Christ. And it's all because of God's grace. The only one who made the two to differ is the Lord Jesus Christ, the one who's going to be seated upon the throne, and every eye shall see him, and every knee shall bow, and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. We say, praise his mighty name. That's wonderful. That's our Savior. That's our Savior.
So the one who proclaims that He is Alpha and Omega is our everlasting safety. Everlasting safety. Look at this. Look what He proclaims. That He is Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is and which was and which is to come, the Almighty. Look at our safety. Our safety The safety of our souls, beloved of God, rests in the Almighty One, the Righteous One, God in the flesh, the Lord Jesus Christ, who came to save His people from all their sins. And praise God, He did it. He cried, it is finished. That's the words of the Almighty One. Let us rest our souls. Hang our souls on those wonderful words. It is finished. Salvation is complete. Our Savior is God Almighty.
Notice what it says there in that verse? It says, the Almighty. Singular. He's the Almighty. There are no other gods but our great God. None other. Our Savior, let us rejoice. Our Savior is God Almighty. He's the Almighty. He's the All-Powerful One. He's the Creator of all things. He's the Sustainer of all things. And beloved, He is the Ruler of all things. We see this world, it looks like chaos to us. He's ruling and reigning. and His perfect will is being accomplished. Isn't that amazing? Oh, my. My, oh, my.
And the one whose blood and righteousness we trust to save us, the one whose dominion we gladly submit to, the one to whom we have committed our souls to is Himself, the Almighty One, and His name is Jesus Christ. And He's the only Saviour of sinners. And beloved of God, we have nothing to fear. I know we often get fearful, but we have nothing to fear, beloved, because our Savior is God. Our Savior is the Almighty One. And you know what? Our souls are in His hands. Amen and amen.
