This sermon centers on the profound truth that salvation is entirely of the Lord, emphasizing divine sovereignty and grace as the foundation of the believer's hope. Drawing from Psalm 37:39 and other key passages, it affirms that the righteousness of God's people is not earned but imputed through Christ, who alone is the source of salvation, strength in trouble, and the only way to the Father. The message underscores the exclusivity of Christ's redemptive work, rejecting any notion of salvation through human effort, merit, or other religious paths, while highlighting the eternal, pre-temporal plan of God to save His elect by grace alone. It calls listeners to personal faith in Christ as the resurrection, life, light, and way, inviting both believers and seekers to rest in His finished work on the cross and to rejoice in the certainty of divine deliverance.

Open your Bibles, if you will, to the book of Psalms, chapter 37. The name of the message is salvation is of the Lord. Now, in Jonah 2.9, the scriptures clearly declare that salvation is of the Lord. And here in Psalm 37, we're gonna see it, the same, the same theme, but said in a different way.
It says this, in Psalm 37, verse 39, but the salvation of the righteous is of the Lord, is of the Lord. He is their strength in the time of trouble. Isn't it marvelous that the scripture declares the salvation of the righteous, and remember when it says righteous there, that's God's people, that's God's elect, but the only way we are righteous is we're made righteous by God, in and through the Lord Jesus Christ. We cannot make ourselves righteous. Our righteousness, our natural righteousness, is like filthy rags in the eyes of the Lord. He will not accept it. It's awful in his eyes. He's holy, and we're unholy.
But note the wonderful security of salvation in Christ, because it says the salvation of the righteous. We are declared righteous, beloved. and we're only righteous in Christ, and he's the Lord, our righteousness. So the righteousness that we're clothed in is of the Lord. So let's read that verse again, Psalm 37, verse 39, and mark this too. But the salvation of the righteous is of the Lord. That tells us a lot right there, doesn't it? That tells us salvation's not by our works, salvation's not by our doing, at all. It's of the Lord. And then it says, He is their strength. He's our strength through our lives, isn't He? He's our refuge. He's everything to us. And it says, specifically in this verse, in the time of trouble. He's right there. He delivers us constantly, time and time and time again. Right? Our salvation from our sins is of the Lord. Our salvation, our deliverance from times of trouble is of the Lord. Isn't that amazing? This glorious and blessed truth.
I was talking to brother Chris last night and this glorious and blessed truth that salvation is of the Lord is on every page. You know, we were talking about how we didn't see it before and now all of a sudden it's everywhere. the fact that God chooses a people, the fact that salvation's of Him, not by any works we do, but it's all of grace.
And the verse that we were looking at was in Genesis 6, where it says, And Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord. Look at that. Noah was a human being, just like everyone else. He was born dead in trespasses and sins, but the Scripture clearly says, Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord. Why did Noah find grace in the eyes of the Lord when all those other people perished? Because God made him to differ.
Noah was a sinner just like everybody else. He's a sinner just like everybody else, but God made him to differ. Why are we called the righteous? Because God's made us to differ, because salvation's of the Lord. He made us willing. What does that mean? Somebody says, well, you guys deny will. No, we all have a will. We're just made willing when we normally wouldn't be made willing. But on our own, we say no, no, no. But when the Holy Spirit makes us willing, we run to Christ.
were made well in the day of His power. That's because salvation's of the Lord. That's because the salvation of the righteous is of the Lord. Isn't that wonderful? Oh my. We are great needy sinners. That's what we are. But praise God, we have a mighty victorious Savior. We have a great Savior, don't we? And His name is the Lord Jesus Christ. And we're saved by His blood and righteousness. Isn't that wonderful?
He shed His blood. He shed His blood to save us from our sins. And he lived the perfect life that we might be clothed in the perfect spotless righteousness and be able to be in the presence of the Lord God, the Holy One. Isn't that amazing?
And the Lord Jesus Christ is the only answer and remedy for our sins. He's the savior of sinners. He's the only Savior that saves. He's the Redeemer that delivers. People say, oh, that person can redeem that person. No, I can't redeem no one and you can't redeem no one. We can't redeem ourselves by anything we do before God. Without Christ, it's impossible to please God. That's the plain and simple of it. He's the Redeemer that delivers.
Delivers from what? From our sin. Delivers sinners from their sins. Delivers sinners from the wrath of God. Delivers sinners from the law of God. Delivers sinners from the justice of God. Oh my! It's wonderful. And you know what? He's such a great Savior that He can save to the uttermost. Isn't that amazing?
Scripture says this. How shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation? How can we escape the wrath of God if we neglect salvation in Christ? Well, you can't. How can we escape hell if we reject the Lord Jesus Christ? You can't. How can we be delivered? How can we be delivered from the law of God and from the justice of God if we don't trust Christ? We can't. How shall we escape if we neglect so great salvation? What's that great salvation? Salvation's of the Lord. The salvation of the righteous is of the Lord.
Oh my, how shall we escape if we neglect so great salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him? My, it's confirmed to us by the apostles that heard him and saw him. Oh my, every day. Let's read Psalm 37, 39 and note five words in this verse. Note this, five words in this verse.
but the salvation of the righteousness of the Lord. He is their strength in time of trouble.
Now note, note each of these five words in this verse. Note the word, first of all, salvation. Salvation, that means a total and complete deliverance from all our sins. I mean, I mean total. A total, complete deliverance from all our sins. from the penalty of our sins, from the guilt of our sins? It's remarkable. From the power of sin to condemn us? My, there's therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the spirit.
Is Christ alone your hope for salvation? He's the only hope for sinners. And then number two, note that the salvation of God's people is salvation because our great God is the God of salvation, and He's the God of love, love for His people. God is good, and God is merciful to sinners, and God delights to show mercy to sinners. Look at this, but the salvation of the righteous is of the Lord, it's of Him. It's of him, it's not of us. It's of him from beginning to end and everything in between.
Listen to this. This is a faithful saying, 1 Timothy 1.15. And worthy of all exceptation that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners of whom I'm chief. Paul wrote that at the end of his ministry. He says, I'm the chief of sinners. Oh my. And then next we see that salvation, it says, but the salvation of the righteous is of the Lord. He is their strength in time of trouble. So what do we see here? We see salvations of the Lord. That's Jehovah in the Hebrew. Salvations of Jehovah. Salvation's not of the works of man. We can never save ourselves. Salvation is not a merit. Surely we don't merit it at all. We know that as believers, we don't merit this wonderful salvation, no. It's not of the law either. It's not, well, if you follow the law, then you can be saved. No, that's a false gospel. That's a false gospel, beloved, because none of us can fulfill the law. And James brings it right home. He says, if you break one point of the law, you broke it all. See, the law brings condemnation, right? But again, I'll go back to that verse in Romans 8, 1. There's therefore now no condemnation. Why? Because of the blood of Christ. He cleansed us from all our sins. And let's say it. Let's say it together. Hallelujah. What a Savior is Jesus Christ, my Lord. Oh, my.
Next, we see that salvation, again, of the righteous. The righteous though, the ones who are made righteous, not by our works, not by our merit, not a law, but rather it's all a grace. But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, we shall be saved even as they. So salvation's all of God. That's Acts 15 11. It's wonderful.
Then in 2 Timothy 1-9, oh, this is so wonderful. Listen to this. So clearly brings forth that salvation is of the Lord. Zane and I often talk about this verse. This verse is actually just absolutely incredible. 2 Timothy 1-9, we clearly see that salvation's of the Lord.
Who, that's God, hath saved us and called us with an holy calling. Who saved us? Who saved us? God saved us. Amen, sister. God saved us. God saved us. How'd he do it? Well, through the blood and righteousness of the Lord Jesus Christ. And he called us too, didn't he? Look at this. And so he saved us first of all, how? By Christ's sacrifice. And then, did he just leave us in our dead and trespasses and sins? No, he called us. We were born again by the Holy Spirit of God. With what? With a holy calling. An irresistible calling. Not according to our works. Oh, okay. What does that mean? That means not according to our works. That's what that means. That's what that means.
But according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began, before we ever were. Now that'll make your head spin, won't it? I'll read that verse again. Who, being God, hath saved us, past tense, right? Planned and purposed an eternity, took place in time and space at Calvary's cross. Paul's telling them Christ already saved us. And called us with a holy call. That's when we're born again. That's when we find out that Christ saved us 2,000 years ago. And how do we call it? With a holy calling, by the power of God, the Holy Spirit. Not according to our works, that means nothing we do. Isn't that wonderful? But according to his own purpose, God saved us on purpose. Now let that roll around in our brains for a while. God saved us on purpose. Oh, look at that. according to his own purpose and grace." Oh, that overflowing, pressed-down grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began.
Well, that tells us God planned and purposed our salvation. And you know what? He didn't look down through time to see who would choose him, because we're all dead in trespasses and sins. He did this, now listen to this, before the world began. oh my my oh my and again we see salvations of the lord in this verse listen to this but the salvation of the righteous is of the lord he is their strength in times of trouble salvation is of the lord
We clearly see here that there is just one way of salvation. One way of salvation. And that is in and through the Lord Jesus Christ. It's very narrow. So that means all those other religions out there are false in leading people to eternal damnation. There's only one way. to get to glory. There's only one way, there's only one truth, and there's only one way, and his name is the Lord Jesus Christ. He said, I am the way, the way, the truth, and the life. Life, eternal life comes through no one else but Christ. He's the life, he's the way, he's the truth. No man cometh unto the Father but by me.
Well, who's the father? Well, he's Jehovah. But the salvation of the righteous is of Jehovah. Oh. He is their strength in the time of trouble. Now, don't forget that God the Father is Jehovah, God the Son is Jehovah, and God the Holy Spirit is Jehovah in the three are one. They're one in unity. They're one in purpose. They're one in holiness. They're one in grace.
my and our lord again plainly said he was the the way the truth and the life the door he told us the light the bread of life the good shepherd and the resurrection and the life listen to this from john chapter 14
It says, "'Jesus saith unto him, "'I am the way, the truth, and the life. "'No man cometh unto the Father but by me.'" That's John 14, 6. And then in John 10, 9, the Lord says, "'I am the door. "'By me, if any man enter,' that's the door to glory, that's the door to the Father, "'he shall be saved.'" Oh. "'And shall go in and find out and find pasture.'" Here, find rest. Rest from their labours of trying to save themselves, which we can't do.
And in John 8, 12, then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world. He that follows me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. See, before we were born again, we walked in darkness. Yeah, spiritual darkness. But now that we're born again, we walk in the light, and that light is Christ. It's amazing. It's absolutely amazing.
Then look at this. John 6, 35. Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life. Well, you know the one thing that we need? Two things we need to survive. Bread and water. He's the bread of life and he's the water of life. To needy sinners, sin sick sinners, Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life. He that cometh to me shall never hunger. He that believeth on me shall never thirst.
And then John 11, 25, the scripture declares this. Jesus, again, said unto Lazarus' sister, he said, I am the resurrection and the life. He that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live. Do you believe on Christ? That's a question, right? What do you think of Christ? Who is he? Well, the scripture says he's the resurrection and the life. He's the bread of life. He's the door to the Father. He's the light in the darkness of this world. He's the way, the truth, and the life, and no man comes to the Father but by him.
And then, listen to this. He asks this. I'll read John 11, 25, and 26. Jesus say unto her, I am the resurrection and the life. He that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live. And whosoever believeth in me shall never die. And then he says, believest thou this? Well, to all my hearers, do you believe that? Oh my, if you do, it's by the grace of God. Isn't that wonderful? It's amazing. So let we who are the redeemed of the Lord rejoice, salvations of the Lord, the Lord Jesus Christ, God incarnated in the flesh. It is he who gives infinite power to what he's accomplished. He is the power and our salvation at the same time. We have no power to come to Christ. He makes us willing.
My, in the day of his power, because he accomplished salvation for his people at Calvary's Cross, and he won't lose one of his lost sheep. He's going to bring every one of them home. Isn't that wonderful? Christ crucified is the only sacrifice for sin. There's no other sacrifice for sin. There's nothing man can do to pay for our sin. There's nothing no one can do to pay for their sin. But Jesus Christ paid for the sins of all his people. Mm-hmm. Ain't that wonderful?
Do you believe that the Lord is the Christ? Do you believe that he's the Messiah? Believest thou this, he said, remember? He said, I'm the resurrection and the life. He said, whosoever liveth and believeth on me shall never die. Believest thou this? Do you believe that? Cast yourself upon Christ, sinner friend. That's all we... I'm just... You know what I am? I'm a sinner saint. I'm a sinner and a saint at the same time. And I've been born again by the Holy Spirit of God. And I'm telling you as a beggar, like I'm a beggar, just look at the bread. He's the bread of life. Oh, he's the only salvation from all our sin. Oh my.
Christ crucified is the only sacrifice for sin. The Lord did not die to try to put away sin. Let me tell you that. He didn't die to try to put away sin. He put away sin, beloved. By the sacrifice of himself, he made a complete atonement for the sins of his people, that God might be a just God and a savior. Praise the name of Jesus. Amen and amen.
