This sermon centers on the finished, sovereign, and effectual work of Christ in redeeming His people through His blood, emphasizing that salvation is entirely God's grace, accomplished once and for all the elect at Calvary. Drawing from Colossians 1:12–14, Romans 3:24–26, and John 19:30, it affirms that Christ's death was by divine will, satisfied God's justice, and was a substitutionary sacrifice for the elect, securing their forgiveness, reconciliation, and eternal inheritance. The message underscores that redemption is not dependent on human will or effort but is a completed transaction, declared in Scripture and eternally secure. The preacher's tone is both pastoral and convicting, exalting Christ as the sole Redeemer and inviting believers to rest in His finished work with awe and gratitude.

Open your Bibles, if you would, to the book of Colossians, chapter 1. The name of the message is Redemption by Christ's Blood. Redemption by Christ's Blood. Now God's people were redeemed by the blood of the Lamb, the Lamb of God, the sent one of God, the Lord Jesus Christ, the Word of God, who became flesh and dwelt among us. And it is He who is God incarnate in the flesh, and it's only He who is able to accomplish salvation for sinners. Because we as sinners can never save ourselves. There's nothing we can do to save ourselves. But we look to the One, the perfect One, the crucified One, God in the flesh, who fully accomplished salvation 2,000 years ago. I preach the salvation already done. Already done by the Lord Jesus Christ. It's finished. There's nothing to be added by us. And if anything, we were to add anything, it'd mess it all up. Mess it all up. Then it wouldn't be salvation. It'd be man's works. So this salvation is fully completed by the Lord Jesus Christ. One may ask, what has Christ redeemed we who are the people of God, we who are born again by the Holy Spirit of God? What has Christ redeemed us from? He redeemed, number one, His people from our sins. And redeemed there means to purchase. And the cost of the purchase of our eternal souls was the shedding of His blood. So we're purchased, we're redeemed from our sins, saved from our sins, delivered from our sins by the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. And what else did He redeem us from, well, out from under the law. My, because he paid the ransom price that God demanded for the salvation of his people. See, God gave a people in Christ in eternity. He gave Christ to people in eternity. And Christ came to this world, sent by the Father, to purchase us out from under the law. Because when Adam fell, we're all dead in trespasses and sins, right? We're plunged into darkness, dead in trespasses and sins. Spiritually alive and yet dead. Or physically alive, I mean, physically alive and spiritually dead. And let's read here Colossians 1, verses 12 to 14. Gives us a real clear presentation of who had delivered us from the power of darkness and how he did it. Colossians 1, verses 12 to 14. Giving thanks unto the Father who hath made us meet. See the meet there? In the Greek it means qualified. who hath made us qualified to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light. How? Oh, who has delivered us from the power of darkness. You see, man can't deliver himself from the power of darkness. We don't want to. We must be made willing in the day of God's power, and it's he who delivers us, and he makes us willing to flee to Christ. And it's Christ who translates us from the kingdom of darkness to the kingdom of his dear son, him, God, the Father's dear son, the Lord Jesus Christ, who had delivered us from the power of darkness. That's where we were. That's where we're born. That's our natural state. And that translated us, look at this, into the kingdom of his dear son. God did that. That happened according to the decree of God and the will of God and the purpose of God. Isn't that wonderful? Look at this. His dear Son. In whom? Who? In who? In Christ, the Son. We have redemption. Look at that. Through His blood. Oh my, even the forgiveness of sins. Isn't that wonderful? Look, where do we have redemption? Through the blood of Christ. Who redeemed us? Christ. Who saved us from our sins? Christ. How do we have the forgiveness of sins? In and through the perfect work of the Lord Jesus Christ. Plus absolutely nothing from you and I. That's wonderful news. That's wonderful news. You mean this salvation's already completed? Yep, 2,000 years ago. Perfect, perfect. So that we who are the redeemed of the Lord be in awe, in wonder. And that in the fullness of time, God sent his son, made of a woman, made under the law, his son, the word of God, who's called the Lord Jesus Christ, he sent him into this world, why? To suffer and die as our substitute, to redeem us from our sins. How? By the shedding of his precious blood. My. And he made atonement. He made atonement. He was the sacrifice offered up to God for the sins of all his people. And he made atonement for the sins of his elect. And he redeemed us all from our sins, saved us from our sins, and redeemed us out from under the law through his blood and righteousness. That's wonderful. And you know, the redeemed in heaven, they sing a new song now. Oh, they sing a song that they didn't sing before they were saved. My. They sing in praise to the risen and exalted Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. See, Christ came to this world. He lived a perfect life as our substitute. He went to the cross and offered himself up, a perfect sacrifice. Right? The sinless one. He bled and died in our ruined place. His blood was shed to save us from our sins. And the third day he was buried. or he was buried, and on the third day, he rose again. So after they crucified him, they took him down from the cross that night, and they put him in a tomb. He laid in the tomb for three days, but on the third day, he rose again. Where is he right now? He's in heaven, interceding for his people. And listen to this, listen to this text in Revelation 5, 9, if you want to write it down, listen to this. Listen to what the scriptures proclaim about the saints up in glory. And they sang a new song, saying, Thou art worthy. Who's worthy? The Lamb of God. Who's that? The Lord Jesus Christ, the God-man. Thou art worthy to take the book, to open the seals thereof, for thou was slain, when? At Calvary's cross. God became a man and he was slain. My. And listen to what they sing. And has redeemed us to God. Oh, praise his mighty name. The Lord Jesus Christ has redeemed his people to God. Saved us from our sins. Hi. How? By thy blood. And who are these people? Who are these people? Well, out of every kindred and tongue and people and nation, there are people Scattered through time There are people of every kindred every tongue Every people and every nation we don't know who they are So we preachers we preach the gospel to everyone and God does the saving We just hold up Christ Right? Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness. Well, we just hold him up. There he is, the crucified one. Dying for sinners. Isn't that wonderful? The question is, are you a sinner? Oh. Now it's vital that we understand that the Bible teaches about what the Bible teaches about the redemptive work of Christ. Because only as we understand how Christ died, do we understand the doctrine of the gospel. Turn if you would, if you would, to 1 Corinthians chapter 15. 1 Corinthians chapter 15. And we're gonna read verses three and four. Look at this. This is amazing. Paul writing to the Corinthian church, he says this in chapter 15, 1 Corinthians, verses three and four. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received. So he's talking about the gospel here. How that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures. Look at that. He died according to the scriptures. And that he was buried and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures. He was delivered for our sins. His blood was shed to redeem us from all our sins, beloved. Now some may ask, is redemption effectual? Is it accomplished? Is it a finished work of Christ? Or does the redemptive work of Christ wait upon the will of man to make it effectual? That's just nonsense. I'm sorry if you feel bad about me saying that, but that's nonsense. It was accomplished, salvation was accomplished for God's people 2,000 years ago. Christ died for his sheep. He died for his sheep. And it's not waiting upon man's will because if it was, there'd be no one be saved. It's already effectual. You and I believing doesn't make it effectual. It's already effectual. Christ already has redeemed his people. We get to find out about it when we're born again and given faith to believe on the one who sacrificed himself for us, beloved, who shed his blood for us. And we're going to look at what the Bible says about this, about the death of Christ and redemption through his blood. Here are seven points. Seven points, quickly. about Jesus Christ, the God-man on Calvary's cross, as a substitute of his people, those people who were given to him from before the foundation of the world. Number one, Christ died by the will of God. Christ died by the will of God. Listen to this. Isaiah 53.10, yet it pleased the Lord to birth him. He hath put him to grief. when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin. He did that at Calvary's cross. Christ was an offering for the sins of his people. He's the sinless one dying for sinners. He shall save his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hands. That's Isaiah 53, 10 again. And then over in Acts, in the New Testament, we read this. Him, that being Christ, being delivered by the determined counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain. Acts 2, 23. So we clearly see from scripture that Christ died by the will of God. Number two. Christ died to satisfy the justice of God. Some say, well, what does the justice of God have to do with me? It has a legal claim on you and I, born dead in trespasses and sins. And by our sins, we have violated, we have broken God's law. Listen to this, though. He died, Christ died to satisfy the justice of God. Well, if he was sinless, for who? For chosen sinners, for God's elect. Listen to this wonderful news. Romans chapter three, if you want to write this down, verses 24 to 26. being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, look at that, the redemption again, it's in Christ, whom God has set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness, that's God's righteousness, for the remission of sins that are passed through the forbearance of God. To declare, I say at this time, his righteousness, that he might be just, so God's a just God, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. Isn't that wonderful? Number three, Christ died in the place of God's elect. In John chapter 10 verses 11, verse 11 and verse 15. First verse 11, Christ said to the, he said, I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep. Look at that, so clearly. Didn't say I give my life for everyone. And then in John 10, 15, it says, Verse that we're very familiar with at this church. And I think I probably mentioned it every message, and I hope to mention it every message. Matthew 121, and she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus, for he shall save his people from their sins. She doesn't say, here, make them savable. Does it? It doesn't say, here, prepare them to be saved. It says, he shall save his people from their sins. It's already done. Hallelujah, what a savior is Jesus Christ, our Lord. And number five, Christ died to put away the sins of his people. Isn't that wonderful? My, Hebrews 1.3. Who being the brightness of his glory, that being the brightness of God's glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, see, Christ is the creator, he's God. He upholds all things by the word of his power. When he had by himself purged our sins, who did that? Who purged the sins of God's people? The Lord Jesus Christ. And when he'd done that, it says he sat down on the right hand of the majesty on high. The work's finished. It's completed. There's nothing to do. We just, by God-given faith, look to Christ who finished the work. Isn't that wonderful? Oh my. Number six. Christ died to reconcile God's elect to him. Colossians 1, verses 20 to 22. Same chapter that our text is taken from. Colossians 1, verses 20 to 22. Christ died to reconcile God's elect to him. Listen to this. And having made peace through the blood of his cross. Peace with who? Peace with God for us. We have peace with God through the Lord Jesus Christ. We were dead in trespasses and sins. We were enemies in our minds to God. Now we have peace. Isn't that wonderful? How? Through the blood of his cross, through his redeeming blood. by him to reconcile all things unto himself, by him, I say, whether they be things in earth or things in heaven. And you, look at this, I love this, and you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, that was us in our natural state. But look, it doesn't end there. Praise God, it doesn't end. Look at this, look at this, by his blood, yet now has he reconciled. Oh my, we're reconciled by the blood of Christ to God in the body of his flesh through death to present you. Okay, now he's writing to a bunch of sinners. He's right through a bunch of former idol worshipers who the Lord saved and who still struggle with sin. And look what he says to them. In verse 22, Colossians 1, in the body of his flesh through death, that's what he did. He died in our room and place to present you holy. The unholy ones are presented holy, unblameable, without blemish, and unapprovable in his sight. Isn't that wonderful? You see how the blood of Christ redeems us? Oh, we're saved from our sins, and one day, beloved, we're gonna be saved from the presence of our sins when the Lord takes us home. Number seven, seventh point, Christ died, and by his death, he accomplished all that he came to accomplish. It's finished, right? Listen to this. John 19.30. You know, people just don't believe the Bible is what the problem is, right? They said, well, there's something I gotta do. Well, let's look at the words of the Lord Jesus Christ in John 19, 30. When Jesus, therefore, had received the vinegar, he said, it is finished. And bowed his head and gave up the ghost. Now, finished there means it's finished. It's finished. The work of redemption is finished. There's nothing for us to do. We just look to Christ by faith and then we live a life continuously looking to Christ in this world struggling with our sin all the time. until the Lord takes us to the land of no mores. No more sorrow, no more sickness, no more sadness, no more crying, no more sin, hallelujah. Oh my, my, oh my. So blood of God, the blood of Jesus Christ does not wait upon the will of man to make it effectual. No, salvation's accomplished. Redemption is done 2,000 years ago by the Lord Jesus Christ and by him alone. It is done, the great transaction done. I am the Lord's and He is mine. Oh my. To be redeemed by the blood of Christ is to be pardoned of all our sins, beloved. To be justified before God and to be accepted by God in and through the Lord Jesus Christ. And we are now heirs of heavenly glory, all because of what Christ has done. I ask you, where in the Bible are those things said to be the results of man's free will? Nowhere. Nowhere. Salvation's accomplished by Christ and Christ alone. Nowhere. The redemption of God's people are the works of God's free grace through the precious blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. And redeemed sinners in heaven proclaim that the great and glorious work of the Lord the work of redemption was accomplished by our Lord in and through Christ alone. Thou art worthy, O Lamb of God, for Thou hast redeemed us by, to God, by Thy blood out of every kindred and tongue and people and nation, and redeemed sinners on this earth. We echo that, don't we? We say, not unto us, O Lord, not unto us, but unto Thy name. Give glory for Thy mercy and for Thy true sake. Redemption through the precious blood of the Lord Jesus Christ is redemption by the work of God's free grace. And it's effectual, and it's finished, and it's everlasting, beloved. Sinners redeemed by Christ's precious blood cannot perish. And redeemed sinners shall praise God forever, beloved, forever, for the redemption of their eternal souls. through his blood. Amen and amen.
