Short Gospel Messages

The sermon "God Is" by Wayne Boyd centers on the nature and attributes of God as revealed in Scripture, emphasizing the comfort and assurance believers find in understanding who God is. Boyd articulates that God is a singular, self-existent being who is eternally unchanging and sovereign over all creation, utilizing Scriptures such as Matthew 1:21 and Hebrews 13:8 to underline the irrevocable nature of Christ’s redemptive work for His people. He argues that God, as revealed in the Trinity, has a sovereign plan for salvation that ensures security for believers, which is foundational for their faith and hope. The practical significance of this doctrine lies in providing comfort and strength to believers amid life's uncertainties, assuring them of God's continual presence and faithfulness.

The name of the message today
is God Is. The scriptures declare who God
is, who God is, and how comforting it is for God's people to know
who God is by him revealing himself to us and what comfort we can
glean when we hear who he is from the scriptures, what he's
doing, what he's done, what he's doing, and what he will do. It's absolutely incredible. And
the scriptures declare that there's only one true living God, God
the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Jehovah the Father,
Jehovah the Son, and Jehovah the Spirit, and the three are
one. And the amazing thing is, that
God, knowing that we could not save ourselves in eternity, devised
a purpose and plan that he would be glorified and magnified, that all praise and honor would
be given to him for the salvation of his people, purposed and planned that he
would send his son, the Lord Jesus Christ, the second person
of the Trinity, into this world. And the Lord Jesus Christ, the
word of God, came into this world to save his people from their
sins. The scripture declares in Matthew
1, 21, and she shall bring forth a son, speaking of Mary, and
thou shall call his name Jesus. For he shall, not maybe, not
might, not if you let him, no. The scripture declares, and this
is by himself, for he shall save his people from their sins. I'll read it again. And she shall
bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus, for he shall
save his people from their sins. Isn't that wonderful? Oh my,
the God-man, Jesus, came into this sin-cursed world to save
his people from their sins. So who is the God of the Bible?
Well, his name is Jehovah. Jehovah, He's the first and the
last. He's the beginning and the end.
He's the keeper of the covenant. He's the keeper of creation.
And He is the creator of all. By Him, all things were made,
by the Lord Jesus Christ, and by Him, all things consist. He's
the first and the last, the beginning and the end. In His very name,
Jehovah brings forth in the Hebrew that he is the self-existent
one. He needs no one. No one at all. He's the self-existent one. He's
the eternal one. He always was, and he always
is, and he always will be. He is the architect of the universe. He's the manager of all times. He is unmoved, unchanged, undefeated,
and never undone. That's our Savior, beloved. That's
our Savior. The Scripture declares in Hebrews
13, 8 of our Savior, Jesus Christ, the same yesterday, today, and
forever. Isn't that wonderful? And because
He changes, then our salvation is secure and safe. Again, he's never, he's unmoved,
he's unchanged, he's undefeated, and he's never undone. No one
can ever undo his purpose and plan. No one can ever undo his
salvation for his elect. It's wonderful. Jesus Christ
is God in the flesh, beloved. And he was bruised for the sins
of his people. And you know what he bought to
his people? Healing, beloved. And I'm not talking this healing
that these fake preachers say. I'm talking spiritual healing.
All my sins forgiven. Washed clean in the precious
blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. And that's true for every born-again,
blood-washed saint of God. And we say, hallelujah, what
a savior is Jesus Christ, my Lord. He was pierced and eased
pain. Oh, my. Man. He was persecuted and bought
freedom. He bought freedom, beloved. The
believers free in Christ. Isn't that wonderful? My. He was dead. He died. And you know what he bought?
He bought life, beloved. He bought life. Oh, eternal life. The world can't understand him,
armies can't defeat him, schools can't explain him, and the leaders
can't ignore him. Herod couldn't kill him, the
Pharisees couldn't confuse him, and the people couldn't hold
him. Nero couldn't crush him. Hitler
couldn't silence him, the New Age can't replace him, and the
people can't explain him away. No, he's God. All through the
ages, they've tried to squinch and put down Christianity, and
it's just exploded, beloved. Jesus Christ is light, love,
longevity, and Lord. He's the Lord of all. He's the
King of kings, and He's the Lord of all, beloved. Oh, He's goodness
too, isn't He? Oh, isn't He so good to His people?
He's so good to us, beloved. Oh, He's full of kindness and
gentleness to His people. My, oh my, and He's God incarnated
in the flesh. Isn't that wonderful? Oh, this
is our King, beloved. This is our King. He's holy,
He's righteous, He's mighty, He's powerful, and He's pure. Oh my, His ways are right. He's
perfect. He's the sinless Lamb of God
sent by the Father to redeem His people from all their sins.
Oh, His Word is eternal. And you know what? His will is
unchanging. Isn't that wonderful? What was
his will to save his people? That's unchanging. Oh my, isn't
that wonderful? We get tossed to and fro in this
world, don't we? Oh, we get tossed to and fro,
and his will, it's unchanging. He's the same yesterday, today,
and forever. If my salvation is secure in him now, then it's
eternally secure, isn't it? Praise his mighty name. That's
good news for sinners, isn't it? Oh, I pray God, the Holy
Spirit, to show you you're a sinner like He showed me. I'm a sinner
saved by grace. That's what I am. Praise His
mighty name. Oh, Jesus Christ is my Redeemer. He saved me from all my sins
by the shedding of His blood. He's my Savior. He's my Rescuer,
beloved. He rescued me from the law of
God. He rescued me from the justice
of God. He rescued me from my own sin. From myself. Oh, praise his mighty
name. He's my guide. He's my peace.
He's my joy. He's my comfort. He's my righteousness. He's my sanctification. He's
my wisdom. He's my Lord. He's Lord. And you know what? He rules my
life. And I love it. I love it. Do you, beloved? He
rules our lives, and we love it. Isn't that a miracle? We
should shake our fist at God in our natural state now that
we're born again. We love it. Jesus, take my life and let it
be consecrated, Lord, for thee. Do with me whatever you will,
Lord. Oh, my. I serve him because his bond
is love. Oh, my. His burden is light. His yoke is easy, and in Him
is abundant life. Eternal life is only found in
Christ Jesus. Forgiveness of sins for sinners
is only found in Christ Jesus. He's the way, the truth, and
the life, and no man can come unto the Father but by Him. Oh
my, I follow Him because He is the wisdom of the wise. He is
the power of the powerful. He's the ancient of days, and
He's the ruler of rulers, isn't He? Oh my! He's the leader of
leaders. He's the overseer of the overcomers. And He's the sovereign Lord over
all, beloved. He's the sovereign Lord over
all. All that was, and all that is, and all that is to come.
He's sovereign over it all. He knows the end from the beginning.
My oh my, that's our king. Hebrews 13, 5 says, let your
conversation be without covenants and be content with such things
as you have. For he has said, this God, God,
the God in the Bible has said to his people, listen, I will
never leave thee nor forsake thee. Oh my, isn't that wonderful? He purchased us, he created us,
and then he purchased us with his precious blood. And then
he regenerated us by the power of God and the Holy Spirit. And
then, beloved, it gets even better. He's going to take us home, where
we'll be with him forever. Because he said, I'll never leave
you nor forsake you. He's with us right now. And we'll be with
him in eternity. Oh, it's wonderful. So that we
may boldly say, the Lord is my helper. That's what we believers
can say. We can say, the Lord is my helper.
Oh, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me. That's
why Paul and Silas and all those fellows we've been reading about
in the book of Acts, that's why they were filled with courage
and they were given grace and strength. They did not fear men. They feared the Lord with a reverent
fear. The fear of the Lord is the beginning
of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction. Oh my. How do I know that? Because I
was there. And then God saved me. I used to, to my shame, I
used to despise the Lord in His works. I might not have verbally
said that, but by my actions, I sure said that by my actions.
But now, oh, I just want to praise Him, do you? We want to exalt
Him, don't we? Oh, it's wonderful. We want to
live a life for Him. It's amazing. And so Jesus Christ,
my Lord, my Savior, my Redeemer, will never leave me. He'll never
forsake me. He'll never mislead me. And he'll
never forget me. He'll never overlook me. He'll
never cancel my appointment in his appointment book. Isn't that
wonderful? Oh, isn't that wonderful? Oh, when I fall, he lifts me
up. When I fail, he forgives me.
When I'm weak, oh, he's strong, beloved. When I'm lost, he's
the way, the truth, and the life. When I'm afraid, he is my courage.
He's my buckler. He's my shield. He's my high
tower. He's my city of refuge. Oh, my. When I stumble, he steadies
me. When I'm hurt, he heals me. When I'm broken, he mends me. When I'm blind, he leads me. When I'm hungry, he feeds me. And when I face trials, he's
with me. He'll never leave me nor forsake
me. Oh, turn if you would to Psalm 23. Look at this. David speaks of the Savior here.
This is the Lord Jesus Christ he's speaking of. He says this,
the Lord is my shepherd. Jehovah's my shepherd. I shall
not want. And that's not what them lying
TV preachers are saying about, get this, and this is talking
about all our spiritual needs. Everything I need is provided
in Christ Jesus. He maketh me to lie down in green
pastures. That's the green pastures of
his word, beloved, where I get such comfort and such, oh, it's
so joyous. He maketh me die down in green
pastures. He leadeth me beside the still
waters. Do you know that a lamb will
not, a sheep will not drink out of moving water? I didn't know
that until a dear brother told me that one time. Oh my, they
like still waters. He restored my soul, oh, born
again by the Holy Spirit of God. He leads me in the path of righteousness
for his name's sake. He guides me and directs me all
through this world. Isn't that wonderful? Oh, yea,
though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, even
at my death, I fear no evil, David wrote, for thou art with
me. Remember, he promised I'll never leave you nor forsake you.
Thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me. That's the shepherd's crook.
You know, a shepherd won't let the sheep wander too far away.
Just puts that crook around his neck and just gently pulls him
over. Oh, it's wonderful. Thou preparest a table before
me in the presence of mine enemies. Thou anointest my head with oil. My cup runneth over. Oh, isn't
that wonderful? And here's the two sheepdogs
of God. Here's the two sheepdogs of God that keep God's people
as sheep from wandering off. Surely goodness. Oh, God's so
good to us. and mercy. Oh, he's so merciful
to us in Christ, isn't he? Isn't it wonderful? Surely goodness
and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will
dwell in the house of the Lord forever. All because of his mercy
and grace, all because of the great sacrifice of the Lord Jesus
Christ on Calvary's cross. bleeding and dying for my sins
and redeeming me with his precious, precious blood, we have this
promise. Surely goodness and mercy shall
follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the
house of the Lord forever, all because of Christ, all because
of God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, salvations of
the Lord. It's all him. When I face persecution,
he shields me. When I face problems, he comforts
me. When I face loss, he provides for me. When I face death, he
carries me home. Oh, praise his mighty name. He's
everything for his elect. He's everywhere, every time,
and in every way. Don't ever forget that, beloved.
Let us never forget that. He's always for us. He's never
against us. Even when we're going through
trials and tribulations, he's never against us, beloved. He's
faithful. Praise God. I'm his, and he is
mine, the scriptures say. Isn't that wonderful? Oh, my. My. So if you're wondering why
I feel so secure in Christ, understand this. He said it, and that settles
it. Remember, it used to be a bumper
sticker. He said it, I believe it, and
that settles it. No. He said it, that settles
it. Period. End of story. God said it, and
that settles it. Whether one believes it or not,
it settles it. Right? It's wonderful. God is
in control. And if he be for us, who can
be against us? This means all is well with my
soul. Amen and amen.
