Okay, open your Bibles, if you
would, to Isaiah chapter 42. Isaiah chapter 42. The name of
the message is, No Failure. No Failure. My, oh, my. Now, each week we gather together
to worship on Sundays and on Wednesdays to worship and praise
our mighty Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. And each week we're out
in the world before we come here out in the world and amongst
the people who we were taken from and called out by God from,
people in the world. And for us, coming to church
is an oasis. Now before the Lord saved us,
we didn't look at church that way. We didn't want to hear the
preaching of the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, but now we
desire it as born-again, blood-washed saints of God. We desire to hear
the gospel preached, and it truly is an oasis for us. It's like
being out in the desert and almost dying of thirst, and then you
want to have a drink so bad, and you see an oasis, and it's
not a mirage. It's not a mirage, and that's
how I feel about church. I feel like it's an oasis in
the desert, beloved. Oasis in the desert for our souls. We want to hear about the Lord
Jesus Christ, our Savior. That's who we want to hear about.
We come here desiring to hear about Christ. We want to hear
about his mercy shown to us. We who are sinners to the core,
right? Christ didn't come to save the
righteous. No, he came to save sinners. And we all agree, by
the grace of God, that we're sinners. We're saved sinners
now, but we're still sinners. But praise God, we're saved.
We're saved by the precious blood of the Lord Jesus Christ and
his perfect, complete, finished work. And oh, may we receive
comfort tonight knowing that the work of salvation is absolutely
finished. And Christ did not fail. just
as we're gonna see in the book of Isaiah that was prophesied
about the Messiah, we're gonna see that Christ, he didn't fail,
did he? He fully accomplished what God
sent him to do, which was what? To save his people from their
sins. And we are God's people, we say hallelujah. This is wonderful. What a savior, what a redeemer
is Jesus Christ our Lord. It's absolutely wonderful. And
we need comfort. We need joy. We need strength
to make it through this life every day. We're pilgrims traveling
through this world, going to a better country, a far better
country, which is heaven, Canaan Land. And the only reason it's
going to be heaven, and it's going to be so joyful, is because
our Redeemer, the Lord Jesus Christ, is there. And we shall
see Him face to face, beloved. Oh, what a great blessing, my
dear sisters and brothers, that that will be, to be able to see
Christ. To see Christ as we see one another,
it'll be wonderful. It'll be absolutely wonderful.
And remember, our beloved God is not at a distance, beloved.
He's ever near us. He said, I'll never leave you
nor forsake you. His eyes are always upon us.
What comfort that can bring us, we who are weary travelers through
this wicked world. It's amazing. We who are beset
by sin on every side, within and without, right? Oh my. But what comfort this can bring
us to know that our God's not at a distance. He's ever with
us. How that's so comforting for
us. And you know, He sustains us
all through this life. All through this life, our King
sustains us. Gives us the very breath to breathe.
Gives us what we need each day. Each day. It's amazing. But more so, He gives us all
spiritual blessings in Him. That's what we really need, right?
That's our most pressing need, is salvation. To be saved from
our sins. That's the most pressing need
of humanity. Yet humanity says, I don't need that. I'm good.
No, you're not. We're here to tell you, as born-again,
blood-washed saints, we're not good by nature. We're evil by
nature, because we fell when Adam fell. And so now we're born
sinners. Well, there was a time when we
didn't believe that, right, sister? There was a time when we didn't
believe it. No, I'm good. I'm OK. Well, God showed us,
didn't he? He showed us that I'm the one
who's in need. I'm the one who sinned against
God. But praise be to God, the mighty Savior. The Lord Jesus
Christ was sent to this earth to save me from my sins. And
if you're a believer, save you from your sins. He shall what? Save his people from their sins.
Call his name Jesus. And he did it. That's why the
scriptures we're going to look at tonight says, he shall not
fail. He didn't fail. You know what's a failure? A
failure is this. Jesus has done all that he can
do. Now the rest is up to you. That is not the God of the Bible. That's not the Messiah that we're
going to look at tonight. Because the Messiah we're going
to look at tonight, the Jesus of the Bible, right? Not the Jesus of man's imagination,
shall not fail. And he didn't, did he? I preach a finished work. He
accomplished it. It's already done. We're just
mere receivers of this wondrous grace and mercy. It's absolutely
incredible. Let's look here, Isaiah 42, verses
one to four. Verse four will be our text,
but I'd like to read the context with this precious promise concerning
the Lord Jesus Christ. Remember, he's the Messiah. This
is speaking of the Messiah. Behold my servant. We've been
looking at it in Sunday school that Christ is a servant of God.
He came here to do the Father's will. So God's saying, behold
my servant. He's speaking of the Messiah.
He's speaking of the Lord Jesus Christ. Whom I uphold. Oh my, mine elect. In whom my soul delighteth. I
have put my spirit upon him, and he shall bring forth judgment
to the Gentiles. That's wonderful, because we're
a bunch of Gentiles. He shall not cry, nor lift up,
nor cause his voice to be heard in the street. A bruised reed
shall he not break. Now, we're bruised reeds, beloved.
We believers are bruised reeds. He won't break us. Oh, now he brings us to a point
where we see no hope in ourselves. Right? And then he builds us
up in the Balm of Gilead, the Balm of Christ. Christ died for
your sins. Oh, praise his mighty name. The
British weed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he
not quench. He shall bring forth judgment unto truth. Now here
we go. He shall not, what? Fail. No failure. This sent one, this
Messiah spoken of here, shall, shall. There's that little word
again that we love so much, right? That we've seen all through the
scriptures. He shall not fail. He won't fail. He's God incarnate
in the flesh. He's the second person of the
Trinity sent by the Father to accomplish the Father's will,
which is to save his people from their sins. And he shall not
fail. Did he fail? No, he didn't. He
cried, it's finished. Right? It's finished. Then he
was buried. Three days later, he rose from
the grave and ascended up into glory. And he's right there right
now, ruling and reigning. See, what God says shall come
to pass. It shall come to pass. He says,
my sheep hear my voice, and they follow me. And then he said to
the little pharisees, you're not my sheep. But all who are
God's sheep shall hear the voice of the shepherd by divine grace
and mercy, and by the power of God the Holy Spirit, and they'll
be given faith to believe after they're born again by the power
of God the Holy Spirit. Oh my. And who's the ones that
hear his voice? The sheep, right? He didn't fail
to save them, did he? He shall not fail. See, saying that Jesus has done
all that he can do, now the rest is up to you, that's a false
Jesus. And that's a Jesus that puts
salvation in man's hands, and it is not so. Because this servant, behold,
my servant, not some figment of man's imagination, His servant,
the Lord Jesus Christ, the Messiah sent by God. He shall not fail. And then it says this, he won't
be discouraged. Scripture says he set his face
like a flint to Jerusalem, knowing I must go to Calvary because
I must redeem my people, the ones God the Father gave him,
in eternity from all their sins. Look at this. He shall not fail nor be discouraged. He won't be discouraged. See,
no one can come up to him and say, what are you doing? He's
God in the flesh. He's the sent one. He's the Messiah. Look at this, till he have set
judgment in the earth. Remember, he's the great judge.
He's the creator of all things. And he's the very one who men
and women Every man and woman who lived upon this earth will
stand in front of it, the great right judgment, and men will
be divided into sheep and goats. And the only reason a person's
a sheep and not a goat is because of God's grace and mercy, because
God chose him in Christ before the foundation of the world,
because it pleased him to do so. That's mind-blowing. And we don't know who they are,
so we preach the gospel to all. Right? Whosoever will, let him
come. Come. Flee to Christ. He's the only
hope. There ain't no hope outside of him, none at all. No hope
for sinners outside of Christ. But what a tremendous statement
we have about the Messiah here in verse four. And his name is
the Lord Jesus Christ. The Messiah is the Lord Jesus
Christ, the sent one, the anointed one. What comfort for the believer
in Christ is found here. In this verse, we see that it's
decreed by God that the Lord Jesus Christ shall shall redeem
his people from their sins. Because he shall not fail. He
will not fail in what he was sent to do. And he didn't, beloved. He didn't. See, if salvation
was up to us, and Christ did part of the work and the rest
was up to us, we'd all be doomed. We'd all be doomed. We can't
satisfy God's law by anything we do. And that's one of the
things that God shows us. God, the Holy Spirit, shows us
through the preaching of the word. Shows his people that,
doesn't he? And he shows us that when he's
drawn us to Christ, and then he continues to show us that
through the preaching of the gospel. Because we need to be
reminded of that, don't we? It's not what we do for Christ
that saves us. It's not a decision that we make
for Christ that saves us. It's the Lord Jesus Christ who
saves us, and he shall not fail. Now, how comforting is that for
you and I as believers? He shall not fail to take us
home, beloved. He's redeemed us. He's purchased
us. We're his. He won't fail to take us home.
Oh, my. It's wonderful. And this is one
of the many promises. that Peter talked about when
he said, whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious
promises, that by these ye may be partakers of the divine nature,
having escaped the corruption that is in the world through
lust. Second Peter 1.4. Think of this. It's proclaimed
here that he shall not fail. The Messiah shall not fail and
he won't be discouraged till it's all over. And he still won't
be discouraged and he still will not fail. It has been decreed by God the
Father, by God the Son, and by God the Holy Spirit, that the
Lord Jesus Christ would redeem his people from their sins. And
all this was appointed and decreed by God in eternity, and the scripture
here proclaims this truth, he shall not fail. No failure. The Lord Jesus Christ in no way
is a failure. No way. He accomplished what
he set to do, and he's God. See, people think, oh, he just
was a good teacher. No, this man is God in the flesh. This is God, very God of very
God. This is God manifest in the flesh,
bone of our bone and flesh of our flesh. It's absolutely incredible. And he left heaven to save a
worm like me, to save a maggot like me. That's amazing. And I'm going
to tell everybody about the Christ who can save anyone who comes
to Him. And I'm not going to stop by
the grace of God. As long as He gives me breath
and gives me a sound mind, I'm going to proclaim Christ by His
mercy and grace. I can't do it on my own strength.
But by His grace and mercy, as He allows me to preach and proclaim
the gospel, I'm going to shout it forth, beloved. He's the only
Savior of our souls, isn't He? We don't have any hope outside
of Christ. Oh my! And you know, God even appointed
the time when Christ would come into this world. Galatians says
this in chapter 4, verse 4, it says, But when the fullness of
time was come, God sent forth His Son, made of a woman, made
under the law. Then verse 5 says why? To redeem
them that were under the law. That's you and I. That's His
people. We're born under the law, aren't
we? Condemned by the law. But listen to this, to redeem
us. Oh, precious, to purchase us, to redeem us. That we're
under the law that we might receive the adoptions of sons for his
people. This is amazing. Do you know,
God also appointed a time when our Lord Jesus Christ would die
for his people, fully accomplishing their salvation. Look at this,
John 17, four. Listen to this. I have glorified
thee on the earth. I finished the work which thou
gavest me to do. It's done. It's finished. The
work is done. He's lived the perfect life in
the room and place of his people, and now he's going to offer himself
up as the Lamb of God, the sacrifice for the sins of all his people.
And all our sins, beloved, I mean all of them, all the sins of
all the elect are going to be laid upon him, and the sword
of God's justice is going to be plunged into him, so that
the wrath of God never touch you and I. The law, see, did you notice
in Galatians what we read there? We're redeemed out from under
the law. The law has no claim on us anymore. It's still there.
It's still there, and it's holy, and it's wonderful, but what
it does, what the law does is show us our utter condemnation.
I was talking to a friend across the road, and he said, yeah,
the law just shows us that we can't save ourselves. I said,
absolutely, you're right. Shows us we can't save ourselves.
Not one person in this world can fulfill one of God's law. Born as a son or daughter of
Adam. There's only one man. The man Christ Jesus. Conceived by the Holy Spirit.
Born of a virgin. God incarnate in the flesh. Emmanuel,
which means God with us. The servant spoken of in our
text. The elect. See, all of us are chosen in
Him. You ever think of that? That's amazing. Oh my. All in Him. So it all has to do with Christ
and Him alone. And marvel at this truth. Our
salvation is completely finished. It's completely finished. There's
absolutely nothing for us to do. And there couldn't be because
we're sinners. There's absolutely no way we
can save ourselves or do works to save ourselves or do works
to gain merit and favor with God. Because everything we do
is tainted with sin. And God has to reveal that to
us, doesn't He? And He does, by His grace and mercy to His
people. It's absolutely stunning. It's absolutely stunning. Turn a couple chapters over from
Isaiah 42 to Isaiah 46. My and you know that this salvation
that's absolutely finished was decreed by God Was decreed by God And just as God decreed it it
came to pass See wicked man Wicked man took
Christ to crucify it, but that was all according to the foreknowledge
of God wasn't it? He sent Christ to die. He sent
his son to die. For us, the bride of Christ,
sinners. Look at this. Isaiah 46 verses
9 to 11. This is absolutely stunning.
Remember the former things of old, for I am God. What a statement. There's only one true living
God, right? Only one. Muhammad is a figment of people's
imagination. He was a man who lived, but he
cannot save anyone in any way. Mary, Mary, not the Mary of the
Catholic Church, isn't even the, the true Mary was a servant of
God. And she said, whatever he says,
do it. Christ says, I'm the way, the
truth and the life. No man cometh unto the father,
but by me. Right? Buddha can't save. Right? Hinduism can't save. None of
these religions. Baptism can't save. Going to
a specific church, like the Catholics believe you have to attend their
church to be saved, can't save. Being a Sabbatarian, worshiping
on Saturdays, or being a strict Sabbatarian on Sunday, that won't
save you or gain any merit or favor with God. They're all religious duties.
I was talking to Vicki this week. These religious duties are like
chains that people wear. And they just weigh them down,
beloved. They just weigh them down. They weigh the person down. We need to be set free, don't
we? We need the chains unshackled. We need to be freed from the
prison house of sin, don't we? And that's what Christ does.
If the Son shall set you free, you're free indeed, beloved.
That's wonderful. Look at this though. I am God. What a statement. That
is not up for debate. He is the one true living God.
And there is none else. All these other gods that people
say are figments of man's imaginations. They're false gods. False gods. He says it again, look at this,
I am God. In case we didn't get it the
first time. And you know, he repeats things
because we're so finite, we're so limited in our understanding
and he's infinite. He's infinite. And look at this,
and there is none like me. There's none like him. No one,
there's only one God, Right? The Father, Son, and the Holy
Spirit, and there's none like Him. There's none like Him. Look at this, declaring the end,
so the things that will come to pass in the very end, right? The end, from the end, Declaring the end
from the beginning. Starting at the end and working
all the way back to the beginning. Oh my. From ancient times of
things that are not yet done. He declared our salvation in
Christ, beloved. Now that had to come to pass
in time and space, didn't it? Right? Oh yeah. He decreed it. He declared it. And it had to
come to pass in time and space, because we're locked in time
and space, and we're born into time and space. And so he sends
his son into time and space to redeem our eternal souls. It's
magnificent. Look at this. Now here we go
again. Saying, my counsel, what? Shall. There it is again. Shall
stand. And I will do all my pleasure. Look at all those personal pronouns.
Look at the personal pronouns. I am God. I am God. My, my counsel
shall stand. I will do all my pleasure, verse 10. And then look at verse 11. I
have spoken it. I will also bring the past. I
have purposed it. I will also do it. Magnificent. Absolutely magnificent. This
is the one who saved us. God himself, the one true living
God, beloved, has saved us from our sins. Again, it's magnificent. It's magnificent. So we see in
those verses, God knows the end from the beginning. And marvel
at this. God already knows what's going
to happen to you and I tomorrow. Or if we even have tomorrow.
He already knows it. He already knows it. He knows
what will happen all the tomorrows that he has left for this world.
Now he knows how many tomorrows there are, right? We don't have
a clue. But you know he's already made provision for his people
through all those tomorrows. Isn't that wonderful? Oh, that's
so comforting. That's so comforting. And when
our tomorrows are no longer anymore, he takes us home to be in the
presence of the Lord Jesus Christ. That's magnificent. Do we deserve
it? Absolutely not. Oh, we've received
grace, haven't we, and mercy. We've received so much grace
and mercy. Oh, my. And however many tomorrows there
are until the world is finished, he knows how many there are.
oh my he knows the end from the beginning what great comfort
again this brings to god's saints he knew christ must die on the
cross for sinners he knew that wicked men would would as as
was planned and purposed take his son says him being delivered
by determined counsel and four dollars of god ye have taken
by wicked hands and have crucified and slain acts 2 23 he knew all
that was going to happen he He decreed that to happen because
that's the only way we can be redeemed, is by the Messiah dying
in our room and place and redeeming us out from under the law. Now,
we as sinners cannot stand in the presence of our holy and
righteous God. The scriptures declare we've
all sinned and come short of the glory of God, but there is
a hope for lost sinners. There's hope for lost sinners
who come to Christ. You know, He's able to save. See, we're not able to save ourselves.
We're not able to save anyone else, are we? But in Hebrews
7, verse 25, it says this, Wherefore, He is able also to save them
to the uttermost that come unto God by Him, seeing He ever liveth
to make intercession for them. He's in glory, making intercession
for you and I, beloved of God. It's amazing. And the word outermost
in Hebrews there, when he says he's able to save them to the
outermost, it means that he completely saves. It means completely in the Greek. He's able to completely save
those who come to God by him. Completely. He's able. Does that sound like
a Jesus who's done all he can do, now the rest is up to you?
Nope, not at all, does it? Because that's a false gospel.
That's a gospel of man's works when people say that. Oh, our
God, our King saves his people from their sins, and he did it
all by himself. Praise his mighty name. And he's
able to save to the uttermost all who come to him, all who
come to God through him and by him. because he ever liveth to make
intercession for them. My, he saved sinners he has in
the past, he's currently saving sinners, and until he comes back
he'll keep saving sinners until the last sheep is saved. He shall
not fail. He won't fail to get one of the
sheep for whom he died. He won't fail to take one of
his sheep home to glory. Well, praise be to God, I'm one
of his sheep, are you? He's gonna take us home to glory,
beloved. He shall not fail. We fail all the time. He shall
not fail, he's God. God saved us. Like I said on
Sunday school, I get so thrilled to think, God saved me. It was
God who saved my soul. And if you're a believer, God
saved you, beloved. Isn't that magnificent? God saved
us. Oh, my. He lived the perfect
life that we never could. He fulfilled the law of God in
our room and place. He did not fail. He died on the
cross as the sinner's substitute, and He did not fail. The Scripture says He shall not
fail, and He did not fail. He cried, It is finished. Salvation
is complete. My. And He did all that was needed
to accomplish our salvation. And He did not fail. And the Lord Jesus Christ is
our Savior. He's our surety. The surety for His covenant people.
And He did not fail to be Savior and surety, did He? No. Let's look at some points in
which he did not fail as the surety and savior of his people.
Let's look at our text again in Isaiah 42, verse four. It says, he shall not fail. I
love that. He shall not fail. What a statement. That is not
up for debate. None of these statements are
up for debate, beloved. Remember, the scripture's not up for debate.
It proclaims the truth. And if our opinion is wrong about
what it says, then we need an attitude adjustment. Because
the scripture's always right. Always. He shall not fail. Now we don't understand it all,
do we? But praise God when he gives us a little understanding
of the scriptures. Oh my. He shall not fail, nor be discouraged,
till he has set judgment in the earth, and the isles wait for
his law. Now think of this, he didn't
fail to fulfill every single type, shadow, picture, promise,
and prophecy recorded in the Old Testament about himself.
He didn't fail to fulfill any of those. He fulfilled them all.
Think of this. He was the Passover lamb in Exodus.
Oh, he's a scapegoat. bearing our sins away. He's the
altar, the sacrifice, and the mercy seat of God. He's the prophet,
priest, and king of his people. He's the ark which Noah built.
The ark pictured Christ, and we're in Christ. If we're in
Christ, we're safe from the wrath of God, right? All who were outside
that ark were exposed to the wrath of God and the judgment
of God, but all who were inside, not a drop of rain fell upon
them, which pictures, if we're in Christ, Remember that pitch
pictures his blood too that that ark was sealed with Pictures
his blood if we are sealed in by the blood of Christ in the
ark of our safety the Lord Jesus Christ Not a drop of God's wrath
will ever fall upon us That's why the scripture says there's
therefore now no condemnation no judgment No judgment beloved
for those who are in Christ Jesus who walked not for the flesh
but after the spirit I No condemnation, no judgment for God's people,
because our sin's already judged. We've already been judged in
Christ at Calvary's cross. It's magnificent. Absolutely
magnificent. So the ark which Noah built pictured
Christ, and all who were in the ark were safe, but all who were
outside that ark perished. And then Adam and Eve were clothed
by the death of another, right? By the death of a lamb, whose
blood was shed to cover their nakedness. Oh my. And we who believe are clothed
in the righteousness of Christ. And because of his blood being
shed in his death, we're saved. Think of this also. Christ is
the seed of the woman in Genesis. That's who he is. In Joshua chapter
5, he's the captain of the Lord's host. A mighty warrior. in charge of all the hosts of
heaven, beloved. That's our King. In Ruth, Boaz
pictures Christ, who's our Kingsman Redeemer. Oh, my. And Job, he's the Redeemer
who's coming. I know my Redeemer liveth, Job
said. I'm going to see him again. Oh,
my. In Psalms, he's our shepherd,
our shield, our strength, our rock, and our deliverer. Oh,
there's so many, many, many, many more pictures and types
and shadows which picture Christ all through the Old Testament.
But listen to what our Lord said to the two on the road to Aramae,
or he said to the Pharisees, he says, search the scriptures,
for in them you think you have eternal life, and they are they
which testify of me, John chapter five, verse 39. And then in Luke
24, when he's walking on the road to Aramaeus with the two
disciples, he says this, In verse 25 to 27, Luke 24, 25 to 27,
he says, Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to
believe, all that the prophets have spoken. Ought not Christ
to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?
And beginning at Moses and all the prophets. Look at that. Moses
and all the prophets. You know, I was listening to
some fellows yesterday, and they were saying how modern Christianity
says, well, the Old Testament's for the Jews. It's not for us. That's a lie from the pit of
hell. Oh my. Our Lord said, search
the scriptures. What scriptures? Was the New
Testament made then? No. He's talking about the Old
Testament, beloved. And then he tells the two on
the road to Emmaus, look at this. He says this, in beginning at
Moses and all the prophets. Moses is the first five books
of the Bible. Pentateuch and in all the prophets
all the prophets right through right through to the to write
through to the New Testament says this Beginning at Moses
and all the prophets he expounded unto them in the scriptures the
things concerning himself He's the Messiah He's the Messiah
So Christ didn't fail to fulfill all the Old Testament scriptures
concerning him no No, he fulfilled them all And remember our text,
he shall not fail. He fulfilled them all. Everything
God promised about the Messiah, he fulfilled it all. The prophecies,
he fulfilled them all. The next point brings us right
to we who believe. He did not fail to honor and
magnify and exalt the holy law of God for his covenant people. Again, Isaiah 42, look in Isaiah
chapter 42, look at verse 21. It says this, the Lord is well
pleased for his righteousness sake. He will magnify the law
and make it honorable. Christ honored the law of God
in our room and place. Our sin, by our sin, we dishonor
the law of God. We break it. He was sinless,
perfect, spotless. He was the Lamb of God. No sin
in thought, word, or deed. He honored the law in our room
and place. Isn't that magnificent? It's wonderful. What a magnificent
Savior we have. And He lived that perfect life
as a substitute for you and I. He didn't sin. Right? He was sinless. My, oh my. So He lived the perfect life
as a substitute in our room and place. He lived as our substitute
and He fulfilled the law of God perfectly. Think not, listen
to what he says here in Matthew 5, 17. Think not that I am come
to destroy the law of the prophets. I'm come not to destroy, but
to fulfill. He fulfilled the law of God for
us. Magnificent. That we might be what? Redeemed,
remember? Galatians 4. Redeemed out from under the law.
We had no way to save ourselves. Christ comes and saves his people
from their sins. Redeeming us out from under the
law by honoring the law perfectly and fulfilling it perfectly.
So therefore, the justice of God has no claim on us because
it extracted all that we deserved to Christ, who was innocent,
the spotless lamb of God, the sinless one dying for the ungodly. What a Savior. What a Savior. He did that which we could never
do, fulfill the law, honor the law. He did it for us in our
room and place. And we say, how could it be?
This is amazing love. This is incredible. Do you know
what else he did? He established the perfect righteousness.
He established the perfect righteousness. He absolutely honored the law
of God, satisfied the justice of God, and Establish the perfect righteousness
that we're clothed in and it's his righteousness. It's called
what the old-timers used to call alien righteousness It's his
righteousness and we're clothed in that beloved. So now we can
stand in the presence of God because of that. Oh It's it's
amazing My oh my think on this for folks
who think they can fulfill the law nowadays I He did all this
for his people before we were even born, knowing that we could
never do it. We could never fulfill the law.
So these people nowadays who think that they can follow the
law of God are being deceived by themselves. They're deceived because there's
not a man on this earth born of Adam and not a woman on this
earth son and daughter of Adam, who can ever fulfill one law. But Christ did it all for us.
He honored the law of God. He magnified the law of God.
Again, it's magnificent. Therefore, he established the
perfect righteousness for his people. And then he imputes that
righteousness to us. Turn if you would to Isaiah 61,
Isaiah 61, verse 10. Isaiah 61, verse 10. This is
wonderful. Isaiah 61, verse 10. I will greatly rejoice in the
Lord. My soul shall be joyful, joyful in my God. Look at this. For he hath, this is something
God's done for us. For he hath clothed me with the
garments of salvation. He hath covered me with the robe
of righteousness. That's Christ's righteousness,
beloved. And notice who did it? We don't do it ourselves. As a bridegroom, decorated himself
with ornaments, and as a bride, adorned herself with jewels.
I'm gonna read it one more time, because this is just magnificent.
I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my soul shall be joyful
in my God. For he, and there's another personal
pronoun, hath clothed me with the garments of salvation. He
hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom
decketh himself with ornaments and as a bride adorneth herself
with jewels. What mercy we have received. Remember the prodigal son coming
back and the father said, bring me the best robe. You look at
that. It says, bring me the best robe.
Well, we have the best robe, beloved, the robe of righteousness. God's people are clothed in the
best robe, the Lord Jesus Christ robe of righteousness. Oh, it's
magnificent. And God himself did that. He
put it on us, beloved. It's incredible. And he did not
and shall not fail. The next point I'd like to look
at is He did not fail to make complete atonement for the sins
of His people. Okay? We worship a God who saved
us from our sins by a perfect, complete atonement which He accomplished. And His name is the Lord Jesus
Christ. And He walked upon this earth.
He was God in the flesh. saving his people from their
sins. And he paid absolutely everything. When he died on Calvary's
cross, he paid absolutely everything that God demanded for the sins
of his people. And that's, the people there
are called the elect of God. Whether people like that word
or not, it's a Bible word. It means chosen. Chosen of God. Well, when were we chosen? Well,
way before we were even born. In eternity, it says. Read Ephesians
1.4, you can't get around it. Chosen him before the foundation
of the world. And you wouldn't want to as a
believer, that's magnificent. It's amazing. Think of this,
the great debt owed to God for our sin is being wiped out. So much so that God says, I don't
remember it anymore. You know what it's covered by?
The blood of Christ. The precious, precious, precious
blood of Christ. And he established a perfect
righteousness for his people by fully honoring and fulfilling
the law of God. in the justice of God and the
place of his people, and he did not fail. And everything we owed,
everything we owed before God's justice, he paid it all. So rejoice, you who are the redeemed
of the Lord, as the Lord Jesus Christ, the great Savior of sinners,
has made complete, perfect, complete and perfect atonement for the
sins of his people. He put away our sins, how? By the sacrifice of himself.
Listen to this in Hebrews 9, 26. For then must he often have
suffered since the foundation of the world, but now once in
the end of the world, hath he appeared to put away sin by the
sacrifice of himself. He shall not fail. And he put away our sin, beloved,
by the sacrifice of himself and the shedding of his precious,
precious blood. It's magnificent. I keep saying
that word tonight, but it is. It's mind-blowing, to be honest
with you. It's incredible. My, why did he do this for sinners
like us? Well, because he's a faithful
and merciful high priest. Listen to this, Hebrews 2.17.
Wherefore, in all things it behooved him to be made like unto his
brethren, bone of our bone and flesh of our flesh. God became
a man that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things
pertaining to God to make reconciliation for the sins of the people. That's us, sins of his people. Reconciliation. Beloved, he's
reconciled us to God by the shedding of his blood and the giving of
his life. And he established that perfect righteousness that
we will be clothed in forever. The white wedding garment robe. Oh my. that he might make reconciliation
for the sins of his people. The sinless, spotless lamb of
God gives his life for his people to satisfy God's wrath and justice
against us that we dishonored, that we broke. Greater love has
no man than this, beloved. The good shepherd gives his life
for the sacrifice of his sheep, for the sins of his sheep. So
rejoice, beloved God. He did not fail. He made full,
complete atonement for the sins of his people. It's finished.
It's finished. We just look to Christ by faith,
don't we? God-given faith. Oh, my. Lastly, he should not
fail to justify, redeem, sanctify, call, and glorify all his covenant
people. All that the Father gave him
and all who he died for on Calvary's cross shall be saved. Shall be saved, beloved. Blessed
be the Lord God of Israel, for he hath visited and redeemed
his people, and hath raised up an horn of salvation. For in
the house of his servant David, Luke chapter 1, verse 68 and
69. Oh, blessed be the Lord God of
Israel, for he hath visited and redeemed his people. Hallelujah.
He did not fail, just like scripture said. Oh, he redeemed us, beloved.
It's wonderful. wonderful those he justified
he will call jude the servant of jesus christ and brother of
james to them that are sanctified by god the father and preserved
in jesus christ and called those who were given to him by the
father he will glorify father i will that they also whom thou
has given me Be with me where I am that they may be Behold
my glory. Oh, that's what we're gonna behold
the glory of god beloved in heaven in christ Which thou has given
me for thou lovest me before the foundation of the world Oh
my So if if god's loved us from before the foundation of the
world And he loved us in christ, didn't he? That's an everlasting
unchanging love beloved It's amazing. So we've seen tonight
that the Lord Jesus Christ is a successful Savior of His people. He shall not fail, the scripture
proclaimed in Isaiah, and He did not. He saved us from our
sins. So this will bring such comfort
and joy to we who are the born-again, blood-washed saints of God. And
may it bring us grace and strength this week as we meditate upon
these precious truths. May God give us grace and strength
that Christ has already, our salvation's done. It's accomplished. And we will one day be holding
our King, all because of the grace and mercy of God in glory
forever. Praise his mighty name, amen and amen.
