Galatians Study

In Wayne Boyd's sermon titled "Christ Crucified," he addresses the core Reformed doctrine of justification by faith alone, emphasizing that salvation is entirely through Christ's sacrifice rather than human efforts. Boyd argues that the Galatians had been misled by Judaizers promoting a works-based approach to salvation, which he strongly condemns as a distortion of the gospel. He references Galatians 3:1, where Paul highlights the importance of preaching Christ crucified—a central theme of Christianity—illustrating that believers receive the Holy Spirit not through the law but through faith (Galatians 3:2). The practical significance of the sermon lies in urging the congregation to maintain their faith in Christ alone for salvation, reinforcing the assurance that all promises made to Abraham now belong to spiritual heirs in Christ. This message calls for a return to the simple yet profound truth of the gospel and the necessity of keeping Christ central in all aspects of faith.

So let's turn to Galatians chapter
3, but we'll be reading a couple
of verses to get the setting in chapter 2 again to read the
context of the verse today that we'll be looking at. We'll be
looking at verse 1 again, but we'll be looking at the latter
part of verse 1. Last week we looked at the the
beginning and the middle of the verse, and then today we'll be
looking at the latter portion of this verse here. And Paul writes to these He calls
them foolish Galatians, by inspiration of the Holy Spirit of God, which
means, in the Greek, sensual. So they're following after their
flesh. Because any time you add works to grace, it's flesh-based. It's flesh-based salvation, because
it's based upon something you or I would do, which is absolutely
a false gospel. And we've been shown that, haven't
we, by God the Holy Spirit, that we cannot be saved by anything
that we do at all. It's salvation's only in Christ
and Him alone. And the portion of verse one
of chapter three we'll be looking at is the portion that says,
before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth,
crucified among you. So the portion more so will be,
hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you. And Jesus
Christ there is the anointed Messiah. The anointed Messiah
there. So let's read verses 19 of chapter
2 all the way to verse 7 of chapter 3. For I through the law am dead
to the law that I might live unto God. I am crucified with
Christ, nevertheless I live. Yet not I, but Christ liveth
in me. In the life which I now live,
in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God who loved me
and gave himself for me. I do not frustrate the grace
of God, for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ
is dead in vain. O foolish Galatians, who hath
bewitched you that you should not obey the truth, before whose
eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth crucified among you?
This only will I learn of you, received ye the Spirit by the
works of the law or by the hearing of faith. Are ye so foolish,
having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?
Have ye suffered so many things in vain, if it be yet in vain? He therefore that ministereth
to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he
by the works of the law or by the hearing of faith? even as
Abraham believed, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.
Know ye, therefore, that they which are of the faith are the
same are the children of Abraham." Look at that. Look what it says
there in that last verse. Know ye, therefore, that they
which are of faith are the same are the children of Abraham.
You know what that means? That's all the promises are ours.
Beloved, we're spiritual Jews. We're circumcised by the Holy
Spirit in the heart. We're born again by the Holy
Spirit of God. So all the promises that were
given to Abraham are ours. And we know that from 1 Corinthians
it says that all those promises are yea and amen in Christ. So if you have Christ, you have
all those promises. All those promises, it's absolutely
amazing. It's just incredible what the
scriptures bring forth. And then look at the last verse
of chapter 3. And if ye be Christ, then are
ye Abraham's seed and heirs according to the promise. What Dave just
bought up. Look at that. Heirs according to the promises.
All those promises that were made in the Old Testament are
ours in Christ. Oh, my. I used to think when
I was in religion, I used to say, oh, the Old Testament's
for the Jews. All those promises in the New
Testament, we have Christ. We have a double blessing, don't
we? Because we're in Christ and have all spiritual blessings
in Him, and that includes all the promises of God that are
in the Old Testament. Oh my, this salvation is so amazing.
The salvation in Christ is so incredible. Now the saints in
Galatia, they had heard the glorious truth. They had heard the glorious
truth brought forth, and we see that in verse 1. It says, O foolish
Galatians, who would be with you that you should not obey
the truth? So the truth had been set before them, beloved. Set
before them. And we're gonna look at the words
evidently set before, evidently set forth. And what had Paul
set forth? Remember, Paul was the one who
was used by the Lord to go to Galatia and preach the gospel,
and by the power of the Holy Spirit of God, right? Those saints
were turned from idols to serve the one true living God. They
were born again by the Holy Spirit of God, and they were turned
to serve the one true God. Delivered from idols. Delivered
from idols, beloved. Because remember, during this
time, there was worships of all kinds of different, what we call
little g's, of wood and stone and all kinds of different things
that they worshipped. Creatures. It was incredible
how much man had corrupted the things in the truth of who God
is. And the truth here in the scripture,
when it says that the truth, that they should not obey the
truth, that's the gospel, beloved. Now they heard the gospel, they
believed the gospel, but these teachers that come in, these
Judaizers, And they're no different than any other religion. They profess to be Christians,
right? Oh, they profess to be Christians. And from the outside,
you'd think they might be, right? Because of the way they are.
But they always say, but you have to do this. You have to do this to be saved.
You're not a Christian if you don't do this. And their thing
of this was circumcision. See, what they were doing was
they were putting people back under the law. That's why Paul
speaks about here, you know, that I don't frustrate the grace
of God, because if righteousness comes by the law, then Christ
is dead in vain. Why did he even come then? If we could save ourselves,
why did he even come? Well, he came because we can't
save ourselves. It's impossible for us to save ourselves. A dead
man can't make themselves alive, right? I was dead in trespasses
and sins and Christ made me alive spiritually. I was spiritually
dead I was physically alive walking around talking but I was spiritually
dead and So were you who believe in Christ made us alive, didn't
he? By the power of God the Holy
Spirit were made alive below It's absolutely wonderful So
Paul knew that he was the instrument that God had chosen to take the
gospel to the Galatians. He was sent to the Gentiles,
wasn't he? By God. And we see in verse one what
Paul preached. When he went to them, he didn't
talk about philosophy. He didn't talk about creation.
He didn't talk about all these other things. He didn't talk
about apologetics, what all these other Religions believed, did
he? See, people can get so caught
up in all that stuff that they don't have their eyes on Christ.
And I speak from experience. I used to be so into apologetics
and learning about different religions so I could rebut them,
but my eyes weren't on Christ, beloved. It was just to be able
to prove a point and make him wrong. I was religious and lost. That was my position. But God,
by his mercy and grace, saved my soul, And now I just look
to Christ. And then he called me to preach,
which is a great honor and blessing, but I'm still just looking to
Christ like everybody else. And so what did Paul preach?
He preached Christ crucified. He preached Christ crucified.
He set Christ before them. Every time he had the opportunity
to speak, he set Christ right before his ears. That's all he
did. That's all he did. And remember,
Paul was a genius. I believe Paul was a genius.
I believe that he knew a lot of different things. He was under
the teacher, a very famous teacher. Some say he was said to be the
next high priest. We don't know that. So he was
a very, very intelligent man. And we saw in chapter one that
he was a maverick. Remember when we studied chapter
one? And he surpassed others older than him. He was like a
maverick. the scripture had bought forth. And he learned more and
more and moved up in position quickly. Quickly. We preachers call folks that
do that, even in the grace community, that raise up to be teaching
and start teaching stuff, and then all of a sudden they're
gone. We call them shooting stars. We preachers call them that.
They get up, they get involved, they get real, and then they're
gone. Just shooting stars, that's all they are. My oh my. But Paul knew that he was sent
to preach the gospel. He was sent to preach the gospel.
And Paul would not have preached anything different than Christ
and Him crucified. That's what he was sent to do.
That was his mission. My mission here? is to preach
the gospel to you guys first and foremost. First, this is
where God sent me, Almonte, Michigan, to preach to the sheep right
here. Now, the message goes out, and we're blessed by that, but
right here is where I'm called. People sometimes ask me about
different issues in different places, right? You know, oh,
there's an issue down here in this church and stuff. What do
you think? I say, well, I'm preaching in Almonte. I'm not going to
get caught up in that. Well, this guy says this. I don't
care. Let them say what they want.
I'm here to preach the gospel in Elmont, Michigan to the saints
that God has put me with. Right? I get people on both sides
of the different things that have went on. Both sides. I got
friends on both sides. It's awesome. Because they come
to me and they say, what do you think? And I say, I'm just sent
to preach gospel at Elmont, Michigan. I am not going to get involved
in all those things. I'm sorry. I just refuse to.
I refuse to. My oh my, because this is where
God has bought me. Like Norm said, you've been bought
to Almonte, and that's the part of the vineyard, of God's vineyard,
because the world is God's vineyard, right? And that's the part of
the vineyard that God calls you to. He said, buy your plot. Buy your plot, Wayne. Oh my, it's awesome. But this
is the preacher's theme, beloved. This is what's on our hearts
all the time. This is why we love talking to
each other. And put aside that I'm a preacher. Isn't it amazing when we get
together and we start talking about Christ, how excited we
get? How... and encouraged we are
with each other just talking about the scriptures, talking
about our King, or just being together and talking like we're
going to have a fellowship meal and we're going to be, it's encouraging
to be together, beloved. But what's the main thing why
we're here? Christ and Him crucified. That's the main. We are here
for the furtherance of the gospel. We've been brought together here
in 2022 for the furtherance of the gospel, beloved. Isn't that
amazing? And it's by God's providence,
because look, we all come from different walks of life, don't
we? I was up in Canada. The last
place I thought I'd be is in the States. And here I am, by
God's providence and by God's mercy, standing before dear saints
of God and preaching the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, preaching
Christ and Him crucified. So this is the theme. We are
called to preach about what Christ did. He died on the cross as
a substitute of his people, saving us from our sins, beloved. Doing
that which we could never do. Never do. And we proclaim that
it's his precious blood. It's his precious blood, right? That ransoms our eternal souls. That pays the price for all our
sins, beloved. And I heard, I was listening
to David Pledger yesterday, and he was talking about how when
Christ was hanging on the cross and the wrath of God was pouring
on him, it was like waves of our sins just kept crashing upon
him. And I thought, oh my, I have
billions of sins, Lord. And the waves of my sin just
crashed upon you. The wrath for my sins crashed
upon you, Lord. Oh my. And yet he bore it so
we never would have to. Isn't that amazing? He took that
wrath so that not a drop would fall upon you and I, beloved.
What a savior. What a redeemer. And that blood
was shed just like they put the blood on the lentils, remember?
I love that old movie. I'll tell you, the old Ten Commandments
movie, I still like it. People say, oh yeah, I like,
I don't care what they, I like it, okay? But when they put the
blood on the lentils there, you know, when I see that, I see
a visual of when I see the blood, I'll pass over you. Because right,
the death angel passed, right, passed over. Right by, because
the blood, because the blood of an innocent one. That lamb
didn't do anything, did it? It was spotless, it was perfect.
It was spotless when they bought it for the priest, otherwise
it wouldn't be accepted. And it was spotless when they
slit its throat and the blood poured out. And when that blood
was applied, it was the blood of a spotless one. the Lord Jesus
Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God, our Passover Lamb,
beloved, our Passover Lamb. That's who preachers preach. We preach Christ in Him crucified. And that blood, oh, that blood,
that blood's able to cleanse all my sins, even the ones I
remember, and I go, oh my, all of them, all of them, they're
gone, they're bought and paid for. No wonder we rejoice as
believers. No wonder we get excited. The
fact that Christ has cleansed us from all our sins by his own
precious blood. And that's not just the blood
of a mere man, that's the blood of the God-man. That's the blood
of God, Emmanuel, God with us. We're gonna look at it, like
I said, in numbers. Numbers, and all these serpents are going
around biting people, right? And God tells Moses to make a
serpent in the like, or make a brazen serpent in the likeness
of those serpents. It's a serpent, right? But it's in the likeness, but
it's a bronze one. It's in the likeness of those,
but it's different. The God man lifted high enough,
lifted high enough, beloved. Oh my, it's absolutely amazing. Oh my. We have in the scriptures
here what Paul preached. We have it in his writings, don't
we? We have his writings in the New Testament. What he preached.
What he preached. He wouldn't have preached anything
different than Christ and Him crucified. So this again, this is the preacher's
theme. Preaching Christ and His shed
blood. Who He is? The God-man. What He's done?
Saved us from our sins. What His blood did? Cleansed
us from all our sins. My oh my, so that all our sins,
which are many, my sins are many, many, are all forgiven. That
our sins, all, many sins all of ours put together, right?
All forgiven if we believe on Christ Jesus our Lord. And what
does God tell us to do? He tells us to look. Is it hard
to look? You ever, Vicki and I were driving
to Ypsilanti yesterday to go see Joshua. And I was listening
to David, and he said, he said, is it hard to look? And that's
why I'm repeating what he said, because it was awesome. He said,
is it hard to look? And I'm sitting there, and I'm
looking. Meanwhile, I've been looking around, looking at the buildings,
looking at the trees, looking at it all. And I thought, it's
not hard to look, is it? It's not hard to look. But it's the hardest thing for
a man to do in his natural state is to look to Christ. But God tells us to look and
live. So if he tells us to look and live, what's he going to
do? He's going to make us willing in the day of his power to look,
isn't he? And that's what he did. That's what he did for you
and I, beloved. In our natural state, we're like,
no, I'm not going to look at him. And now we look and go, he's the
lover of my soul. He's everything to me. He's the
fairest of the thousands to my soul. My oh my, he's wonderful. So look unto Christ and you shall
be saved. The prophet said, look and live.
And then what did Paul say to the Philippian jailer? Believe
on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shall be saved. That's just
looking to Christ, isn't it? Believe on him, look to him.
Lord, you're my savior. My, turn if you would to John
3, 14. We're going to look at this,
3, 14 and 15. My, oh my. Right before this
portion, our Lord had been talking to Nicodemus. And he said, you
must be born again to see the kingdom of heaven. You must be.
So that's vital, isn't it? It's absolutely vital to be born
again. You must be born again. If we're not born again, we don't
have true faith. If we're not born again, we're
still dead in trespasses and sins. So here was a master of
Israel too. Now remember who he's speaking
to. This man was a master of Israel. He's looked up upon by
people in Israel as a master, as a great teacher. But we see
that men can know the scriptures and yet still be lost. You know
that I was in that situation. I could go toe to toe with people
on doctrine and stuff, but I had no grace. It was all in my head. It was
zeal without knowledge. And I look back now and I think,
oh, I wish I could speak to some of those people again. Because
there were some times I was pretty cruel in the sense of I was so
dogmatic And it wasn't about the gospel. It was about convictions. My, oh my. This is what matters
the most. Now, if we're gonna be dogmatic
anywhere, it's right here. Christ and Him crucified. And
we see, see, this is what's so encouraging I find as we're studying
Galatians, because I'm learning right along with everyone else.
What I find is so encouraging is that Paul is making the main
thing the main thing. Christ and Him crucified. You
error, if you get it wrong about salvation's grace alone, you
got it wrong everywhere. Someone once said, you get it
wrong at the fall, you get it wrong with it all, which is true,
because man's totally a prey. But if you mess up the gospel
by adding so-called works, it's not even the gospel. So to me,
that's the main thing, is the gospel of Christ and preaching
Christ crucified, like Paul's bringing forth here. He's saying,
I've evidently set before you the gospel of salvation in Christ
alone, by his precious blood alone. And now you're being bewitched
by these false teachers who are saying you have to do something
to be saved. When I've set forth before you that salvation is
in Christ and Him alone. My oh my. Look at this, John
3, 14 and 15. And as Moses lifted up the serpent
in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up,
that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have an
eternal life. When was Christ lifted up? When
he was crucified. He was lifted up from the earth,
wasn't he? And he hung on that cross to save his people from
their sins, to redeem us out from under the law. That's what
he did. That's what he did. And by grace,
by grace, I looked to Christ and asked him to save me. And
it's the same for every believer. We've looked to Christ, haven't
we? We've seen Him. By faith we see Him. Crucified for us. Dying in our room and place.
You know He's able to save to the uttermost all who come unto
Him? All who come unto God by Him, He's able to save them to
the uttermost. People say, oh, I'm such a sinner. Well, put aside your self-righteousness,
okay, and look to Christ. Because that's what that is,
eh? If you knew what I did in my
past, and if I knew what you did in your past, oh my. But all my sins are forgiven,
and if you're a believer, all your sins are forgiven, right?
So we tell the someone who says, well, I feel guilty for what
I did or what I, stop being self-righteous. That's all that is. And look
to Christ. He's able to save to the utmost.
He saved me. He saved you all who are saved. And we tell our
friends and family members, just set that aside and look to Christ. Because if you keep looking at
your sin, you're never going to feel. And we aren't worthy.
We aren't worthy, are we? None of us are worthy. But if
we keep looking at our own sin and going, oh my, oh my, oh my.
Well, here's the remedy. Christ and Him crucified. There's
the remedy. Look to Christ. Look to Him,
beloved. And all our sins are forgiven.
Oh my. So here's the gospel. And as
Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must
the Son of Man be lifted up to be crucified. That whosoever
believeth in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. Do you
believe in Him? It says right there, and whosoever believeth
on him, do you believe on him? That's the question, right? By
the grace of God, I believe. By the grace of God, I believe.
That's what each of us say who are the people of God. And then look at this, should
not perish, but have what? Eternal life, because he gives
it to us. Because He gives it to us. It's
from Him. Oh, it's wonderful. Let's go back and read chapter
1. Chapter 3, verse 1. this oh foolish Galatians who
hath bewitched you that you should not obey the truth before whose
eyes Jesus Christ has been evidently set forth crucified among you
so now we know that being crucified is dying on the cross Christ
died on the cross for us we'll get into that a little bit more
too but notice the words hath been evidently set forth look
at that one two three four five words right in the greek it's
one word I love looking at the Greek.
It's amazing. I don't know how to read it,
but I have a whole bunch of commentators that are really good at interpreting
all that stuff. And for the studies here, I've
even bought a guy who interpreted Weiss, who I use a lot, who has
actually interpreted the scriptures just from the Greek, exactly
what it says. And that's been really neat.
I've been using it several times for us here, because I really
believe it gives us more of an understanding. of what the underlying
text is, right? The Greek text is absolutely
incredible. So there, that's one word in
the Greek, and you know what it means? It means to place before. To place before openly and plainly. He plainly preached Christ. You know, someone at one time
said to me, I like your preaching because I can understand it.
That's music to my ears. I'm telling you why. That's music
to my ears. Because God, number one, God,
the Holy Spirit's given you the understanding. And I remember
hearing Henry say, he said, if a 10-year-old can't understand
what you're saying, he probably shouldn't be saying it. And I
like that. Because we're to speak plainly.
Even our Lord spoke plainly. I am the way, the truth, and
the life. All one-syllable words, beloved. Isn't that amazing? The King of Glory. You look at
the things He said. He spoke mostly in one and two-syllable
words. It's fascinating. It's phenomenal.
So this means, this again means to set before openly and plainly. And this Greek word is used,
it's used when posting public announcements. That's what it's
used for. So like someone, back in the
days, they didn't have what we have, where you can go on the
internet and find out what's going on. So they publicly would
post an announcement on a door or something like that, or on
a board, where everybody could come from the town and go in,
the city, town, center, go, oh, yeah, OK. Somebody's having a
garage sale here. OK, no. But you know what I'm
saying though, announcements, just different announcements,
right? Just different announcements. Trust me, they traded back then
too, like we do too. So just announcements. And so it's used when speaking
of public announcements or notices. And this word is found in early
secular documents, such as when a father posted a proclamation
that he'd no longer be responsible for his son's debt. His son must
have racked up quite a bit of debt. And so this word was used
in that case in a secular book or secular letter saying, I'm
not going to pay for my son's debt anymore. So it has that
kind of meaning in the Greek, beloved. So it's when an announcement
is placed up. So Paul, what has he done? He's
plainly and openly set Christ before them like a public announcement, like a proclamation. And he says,
and now you're being bewitched by these false teachers. And he would know that Christ
was publicly put before them because he is the one doing the
preaching, wasn't he? And this is what Paul did in
preaching among the Galatians. He sat before us here as Christ
and Him crucified. And this setting forth Christ
as a notice of crucifixion of the Lord Jesus Christ should
have been enough to keep the eyes of the Galatians upon Christ
rather than look into the Judaizers. And the word crucified here,
this is interesting, the word crucified is in the perfect tense
in the Greek. And this speaks of the fact that
the apostle is not speaking of the figure of a dead Christ on
the crucifix. There's a whole religion that
has a dead Christ on the crucifix, isn't there? Oh, that's not what
Paul's speaking about here. He's speaking, when he says,
I preach Christ and Him crucified, he's speaking of a risen Christ,
beloved. A victorious Christ! A risen Christ! Ascended Christ,
who's being crucified, and who was now alive, and who had a
glorified body, and who's now risen, and seated at the right
hand of the Father. And that He lives. He lives. See, death could not hold Christ,
beloved, because He's sinless. He's perfect. He's spotless. It didn't have a claim on him.
He said, Satan comes and has nothing in me. Nothing in me. So we see here then that Paul,
in preaching Christ crucified, declared who Christ is and the
fact that he's Jehovah, our creator. who came to this earth and clothed
themselves with a human body. Now remember that, remember that
when we look at the two serpents. The serpent, the bronze serpent,
and the other serpents. The bronze one's in the likeness.
Christ is made in the likeness of sinful flesh. But yet he's God. Yeah, he's,
oh my, it is amazing. I'm gonna give you my whole sermon.
You won't even have to listen to it this morning. My goodness,
I'm so excited about it. So Paul preached again that Christ
perfectly honored God's law. He established the perfect righteousness
for us, for all those who were given
to him by the Father. And Paul preached the total depravity
of man, that we cannot earn salvation in any way. We are absolutely,
totally depraved when we're born in this world. That just means
we're dead in sin. Graveyard dead. We can't do anything to
save ourselves. And then Paul preached that Christ
saved his people when he laid down his life for them. That's
what he did for me. If you're a believer, that's
what he did for you. He laid down his life for us. Willingly. Giving his life for us. Turn,
if you would, 1st Corinthians chapter 2, and we're finished
with this. I had more, but... I had more, but I didn't get
through it. But I do want us to read this portion in 1st Corinthians
chapter 2. We'll read verses 1 to 5. And
this just shows us Paul's heart. You know, he took the gospel
to areas where our Lord hadn't been, right? Because our Lord was ministering
in Israel. And then he sent Paul out to
the Gentiles. And so he went, and he didn't
care if a person was educated that sat before him, poor, intelligent,
or not as intelligent as another person. He didn't care about
any of that. Slave or bond or free, he did
not care. He just wanted to preach Christ.
And how do we know that? Well, look at this. And I, brethren,
came. to you. My brethren, when I came
to you, it came not with excellency of speech." Now, remember who
Paul is. He said unto one of the most famous teachers of his
time, he could speak eloquently if he wanted to. He could have
dazzled them with words. Okay? Declaring unto you the
testimony of God. Look at this. Here it is. For
I determined not to know anything among you, save Jesus Christ
and Him crucified. period. Evidently set forth Christ and
Him crucified. And I was with you in weakness
and in fear and much trembling. See, Paul went through a lot
of things, didn't he? Just like we do. Paul struggled
with the flesh, just like we do. Paul strove against sin,
just like we do. Paul saw the world of wickedness
around him, just like we do. But he was determined not to
preach anything but Christ and Him crucified. And I like this,
in my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of
man's wisdom. He spoke plainly. You remember
the Greek word for evidently set before you? Plainly. He didn't
use fancy words. He didn't use theological words
that are a mile long. That's not needed. I like theology
just as much as any other person, but I'm not going to bring you
words and have to use words that are to show enticing words of
man's wisdom. We don't need that. Gospel preachers
are to plainly set forth, plainly and openly. Right? Christ and Him crucified. And
we as God's people, we love that, don't we? We love that. But then look at this. And oh
Lord, always, oh Lord, be with me when I preach. And may it
be in the power of Thy Spirit. Because without that, it's nothing.
And look what He said here. But in demonstration of the Spirit
and of power. You know? I won't say that. It says that
your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the
power of God. Gary Shepard wrote an article
a long time ago, and it talked about powerful preaching. He
said he went to these conferences, and he kept hearing, oh, that
was powerful preaching. And he said it started to bother
him, because it would be said upon one preacher, but not another
preacher. And he said it started to really bother him. He didn't
even have people come up and say, well, that was powerful
preaching, Brother Gary. And him and I had a really good talk
about it. And he wrote an article about
it. It was just excellent. And our preaching is nothing
except in the demonstration of the Spirit. So if a message is powerful,
it's because of the Holy Spirit. Paul, like every gospel preacher
say, who's sufficient for these things? It's not in me. It's
not in me, beloved. It's in him. In the power of
God, the Holy Spirit. That's where the power comes
from. And notice what he put there in that finish line, that
your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the
power of God. That's the key right there. The
power of God. Oh my. May God use the preaching
of His Word from here in Almonte in demonstration of His power.
That He might be glorified and magnified, right? And He might
be lifted up. And our souls will be excited,
won't they? Our souls will just burn with excitement, won't they?
I'll tell you what, I just love being with you all and getting
the opportunity to preach and study. My heart just burns. Like Charlie sometimes says,
are you ready? Oh my, I don't think I'm ever ready, ready,
but I'm burning to preach. I'm ready to go, right? And that's how we should be,
right? This should excite us. Christ
and Him crucified. He died for all my sins, paid
for them all. Now I'm saved by grace through
faith that's given to me. And that faith is in Christ.
Hallelujah! What a Savior. What a Savior
is Jesus Christ, our Lord.
